MINTER, William Sr., 62, born September 21, 1934, passed away May 1, 1997. Survived by wife, Elnora of 44 years of Tucson; children, Marylene (Paul) Carr of Tucson, Sherrie A. Minter of CA, Eddie F. Minter of Tucson, William (Linda) Minter, Jr. of Chandler, AZ, Willie E. (Alice) Minter of Tucson; 10 grandchildren; seven sisters and six brothers; and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral Services 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 5 at Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 1019 E. 31st St., with Rev. D. Grady Scott officiating. Interment in South Lawn Cemetery. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. til service time at the church.

NIELSEN, Harry M., 83, of Tucson, died May 2, 1997. He is survived by his son, Chris C. Nielsen of Winkelman; brother, Art Nielsen of Tucson; and companion, Polly Hancock. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, May 9, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. at HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N. Columbus, with Pastor Mark Hallemeyer of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Lutheran Girl and Boy Pioneers, 830 N. First Ave., Tucson, AZ 85719. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

SCOTT, Frances E., 75, died April 30, 1997. Wife of Everett O. Scott; mother of Evelyn (Paul) Henry of CA; five grandchildren also survive. Funeral Service 9:00 a.m. Monday, May 5, 1997 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL with Rev. Jim Howard officiating. Interment to follow at TMP, East Lawn. SCRUGGS, Agnes Virginia, 82 of Tucson, died April 26, 1997. She is survived by asister, Mary Scruggs Spencer of Tucson; brother, Daniel A. Scruggs, Texas. Agnes was born in Tucson. Memorial Services were held at St. Philip’s in the Hills Episcopal Church with Father Peter Chaney, Father Roger Douglas and Father Michael Macey officiating. Burial will be in San Antonio, Texas. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N. Columbus.

SOTO, Maximo E. 'Max', 68, of Tucson, passed away April 30, 1997. Survived by daughters, Linda (Ruben)Lopez, Frances (Pablo) Zamora; sons, Max (Cruz) Soto, Billy (Lourdes) Soto; sisters, Hilary V. Mungaray, Beatrice S. Barnes, Sarah S. Almazan; brothers, Felix Velesquez, Manuel Velesquez, Louis Mariscal, Alfonso Soto, Edgardo Soto; seven grandchildren. Mr. Soto was a semi-pro baseball pitcher and veteran of World War II. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, 1997 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Monday, May 5, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Church, 602 W. Ajo Way. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.

STOVER, Blanche, 78, died, May 2, 1997. Survived by her sons, Vern (Kay) Stover, Tommy (Nancy) Stover; daughter-in-law, Pauline Tidwell; grandchildren, Leroy, Terri, Davina, Paula, Vern Jr., Janell, Mark and Lori; and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Vern V. Stover; daughter, Carole Jean; son, Leroy; and grandson, Tommy Jr. Blanche was born in Bryce, Arizona and a life long resident of the state of Arizona. Friends may call Monday, May 5, 1997 at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd., where Funeral Services will be held, Tuesday, May 6, 1997 at 11:00 p.m. Burial will be at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

DRAKE, Kevin Joseph, 48, died May 1, 1997. Survived by his son, Francis of Brooklyn, NY; brother, William of Tucson; sister-in-law, Lois; nieces, Christine and Gennifer; and beloved friend, Charlie Iorio of CA. Mass will be at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7651 E. Pima, at 12:00 noon on Monday, May 5, 1997. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kevin’s memory to Carondelet Hospice Services, 1802 W. FINN, Alfred J., 68, of Tucson, died April 30, 1997. Preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, George Ann. Survivors include: son, Michael; three brothers, Ed, Dan and Neil; two sisters, Kathleen and Rosemary; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, on May 2, 1997 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with Rosary at 8:00 p.m. Graveside Services will be at All Faiths Memorial Park, Saturday, May 3, 1997 at 9:00 a.m., with Deacon George Herrick officiating. GRAY, Thomas Marshall, 80, of Tucson, died May 1, 1997. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Darlene; children, Janet (Bill) Sommers, Kathleen Brezovsky, Charles (Nancy) Gray; grandchildren, Joel and James Few, Crystal Sommers, Cecelia Trombetta and Elliot and Monica Gray; one brother, Lloyd Gray of TN. Mr. Gray served with the U.S. Navy in Okinawa during WWII and afterwards graduated from Purdue University in 1948. Friends may call at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, Saturday, May 3, 1997 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.

HOLAWAY, Margaret A., 80, of Tucson, AZ, died April 30, 1997. Survived by Yvonne Queen (Tom) of Katy, TX, Donna Frey (Bill) of Cumming, GA, Dave Holaway (Kim) of Tucson, AZ; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Our mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. A friend to all she met. JARAMILLO, Roberto B., 67, of Tucson, passed away April 29, 1997. Survived by wife, Olga S. Jaramillo; daughters, Edna (Jesus), Rosie, Sandra (Paul), Josephine (Gasper); son, Robert (Landi); sisters, Consuelo Valdez, Lilia Rodriguez, Delia(Alfred J.) Lopez; 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, friend and the greatest Tata anyone could have. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, 1997 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Monday, May 5, 1997 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 South Stone Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. KENNEDY, Penny. At her request, no services are planned for Penny E. Kennedy, 52, of Vandenberg Air Force Base. Inurnment will be private. Mrs. Kennedy was born December 1, 1944 in Washington, D.C. She worked as a registered nurse for 16 years and was employed with the Veterans Administration Hospitals and Kino Community Hospital, both in Tucson, AZ. She also taught Lamaze classes. She was a member of the Yuma Jaycees and the Equine 4-H Club in Yuma and Tucson. She moved to Lompoc in 1993 from Tucson and was a member of the Lompoc Third Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a foster parent and friend for many years to numerous children and touched the lives of many people. She especially loved horses and taught others to love them too. She died Wednesday, April 30, 1997 at Lompoc District Hospital. Survivors include daughters, Jamie Samuelson of Santa Ynez, Carrie A. Pritchard of Tucson and Frances Forman of Porterville, CA, Debbie Jones of Canyon Country, CA and Milbrie Porter of Yuma; son, William H. Kennedy of Vandenberg Air Force Base; sisters, Joyce R. McLarty of Coralville, IA and Pamela J. Wilson of Napa, CA; 10 grandchildren; three nieces; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Earl Kennedy. Contributions may be made to a charity of choice. Cremation arrangements are by Starbuck Lind Mortuary, 805-735-3773.

MARTIN, Robert Charles, 41, died April 26, 1997. Survived by his parents, Robert A. and Nieves Martin; sisters, Gail Martin, Jeanette Martin and Beverly Whitten; his fiance, Jackie Taylor and her children, Walter and Eli Taylor; nieces, Traci Cole, Erin and Jennifer Kendall and Marisa Martin; and his loving pets. Memorial Service will be held, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 3. 1997 at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Tucson, 3450 N. Kelvin Blvd., Tucson 85716.

O’HARA, Mabel C. Died at El Dorado Hospital April 29, 1997. She is survived by her loving husband, Lt. Col. Joseph J. O’Hara, USAF (Ret.). They were married in the Fort Bliss Chapel, TX on May 4, 1946. Mabel was born to Cleveland A. and Carrie (Hansen) Eller in Tennessee Ridge, TN. Mabel’s surviving children and grandchildren are Tim and Robin O’Hara (Ryan and Brendan) of San Luis Obispo, CA; Jeff and Karyn O’Hara of Santa Barbara, CA; Lt. Col. Ray and Terry (O’Hara) Matthews (Ralph, Tristan and Claire) Ft. Riley, KS; Steve and Caroline O’Hara, Tucson. She is also survived by brothers Eugene Eller, CO and Glenn Eller, CO and sister Betty Russelavage, CO, and nine nieces and eleven nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary D. Clamp, of CO. Mabel’s greatest interests were her home, family and friends. Her talents were apparent in decorating, ceramics, quilting, landscaping and gardening. Her hobby was golf until she was crippled by arthritis. She continued to love the outdoors and doing for others. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Frances de Sales Church at 1:00 p.m. May 5, 1997. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Tucson Community Food Bank.

TORRES, Maria Luisa, 81, of Tucson, passed away April 30, 1997. Survived by husband, Antonio Y. Torres; daughters, Maria Luisa (John) Giese, Sara (Jose Luis) Roman; son, Matias (Vera) Torres; sisters, Consuelo Valdez, Lilia Rodriguez, Delia (Alfred F.) Lopez; and nine grandchildren. Rosary will be recited, 7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 4 at BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Mass will be offered, 9:00 a.m., Monday, May 5, 1997 at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, 1220 S. 6th Ave. Burial in Holy Hope Cemetery. AICHELE, Helen Bernice, 84, of Tucson, died April 27, 1997. Survivors include: husband, George of Tucson; sons, Donald (Dianna) Aichele of Tulsa, OK and George (Connie) Aichele of Adrian, MI; grandsons, Daniel A. Aichele of Adrian, MI and Matthew Aichele of Tulsa; granddaughters, Sara A. (Jeff) Castle of Ann Arbor, MI and Nicole Aichele of Tulsa, OK. Preceded in death by brothers, Donald and George Pauschert; parents, Albert and Mabel Pauschert. Memorial Services will be at Casas Adobes Congregational Church at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 1, 1997, with Pastor David Smith officiating. Inurnment will be private. BELCHER, Katie Louise, 10, of Tucson, died April 28, 1997. Beloved daughter of Louisa Belcher and Charles D. Belcher of Tucson; beloved sister of Melissa Ann Lange and Elizabeth Florence Belcher of Tucson; beloved granddaughter of Florence B. and Eugene Neill of St. Petersburg, FL; and beloved niece of Constance Sterling, Herbert Kirschner, Michael Kirschner, Delores (Robert) Capps and Ray (Gibina) Belcher; also survived by cousins, Georgette, Christopher, Roberta, Jeremiah, Delores and Tina. BRADLEY, James, 58, of Tucson, died April 28, 1997. Survivors include his wife, Mary; children, Christopher, Daniel, Linney, James (Pete); two grandchildren; his loving mother, Jean Bradley; plus many loving relatives and friends. Jim’s personal and private accomplishments have been an inspiration to all of us. He will be missed. Friends may call at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, Thursday, May 1, 1997 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., with Funeral Service to follow. Interment to be private.

COWLEY, William 'Bill', 44, died of cancer April 27, 1997. Preceded in death by parents, Alice (Mejia) and Bill Cowley, Sr. Survived by wife, Lucas; children, Brian, Kathryn and Matthew; special cousins, Thurman Brooks, Thelma Leon and Frances Cota-Robles. Bill was a loving family man and a great friend with a passion for life. A special thanks to the staff of TMC Hospice for their compassion and support. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the TMC Hospice. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2 at St. Margaret’s Church, 801 N. Grande Ave.
