CHACON, Victor A., age 80, born March 20, 1917 and died July 7, 1997. Beloved father went to be with the Lord. He is preceded in death by his wife, Isabel C. Chacon and survived by his children, Irene Suarez (Raphael), Irma Mace (J. Dean), Victor D. Chacon (Vera), Delia F. Contreras (Henry) and Sally McKelvey; 23 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Mr. Chacon was retired from Southern Pacific Railroad. Inurnment Services will be private at a later date. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

CORCORAN, John Francis, 79, died July 8, 1997. Husband of Myl; father of Mary (Bill) Stone of WA, Amee (Danny) Rosales of Tucson, Kathleen (Paul) Konecny of Tucson and Laura (Tony) Corcoran Harrell of MD; brother of Mary Eileen Webb and Sister Margurite Corcoran, both of Minneapolis, James L. Corcoran of IL, Gregory Corcoran of Minneapolis and William Corcoran of Tucson; 11 grandchildren also survive. Memorial Mass 9:00 a.m. Friday, July 11, 1997 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco, with Father Robert Tamminga officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Research Center, U of A Hospital, 1501 N. Campbell, would be appreciated. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

FIELD, Bettye M., born April 28, 1921, passed away July 7, 1997. Beloved wife of Harry L. Field; mother of Sharon (William) Treumann; grandchildren, Elizabeth (J.C.) Ballweg, Neilson Field Treumann, Stacie Treumann and great-granddaughter, Britni Ballweg. She attended high school and Haddock Business School in her hometown of Jacksonville, FL. Later attending the University of Tennessee and NAU. married Harry on March 1, 1941 and lived in many places including Hawaii and Japan, while Harry was in the Army. Moved to Flagstaff in 1955 where she was president of the Flagstaff Symphony Guild, member of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary, Life Master in the ACBL. Moved to Tucson in 1972 and was president of the Tucson Delta Delta Delta Alumnae and Psi Psi Psi. She was also a member of the Tumbleweed Homemakers. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Casa De Los Ninos or the charity of your choice. No Funeral Services planned. Friends and family will gather at the home of Shari on Friday, July 11, 1997 at 5:00 p.m. for a celebration of her life. Arrangements by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, 881-0338.

Caroline Brown 'Lula' Jacobs, Born January 11, 1909, died July 8, 1997. Mrs. Jacobs was a decadent of a Tucson pioneer family. Preceded in death by husband, Edward Carrillo Jacobs. Survived by son, Edward Brown Jacobs; daughters, Bella J. (Don) Bowerman, Sona E. Traw, Gloria (Pete) Samorano; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers, David Bowerman, Danny Bowerman, Ron Traw, Paul Samorano, Brian Samorano, Pete Samorano, Don Bowerman. Family requests memorial donations be made to American Cancer Society, Lupus Foundation, Diabetes Association and St. Augustine Cathedral Maintenance Fund. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 13, 1997 from 4:00 to 10:00 at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY (South Chapel), 240 South Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Monday, July 14, 1997 at 9:00 a.m. at St.Augustine Cathedral, 192 South Stone Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. JOHNSON, Arnold A., age 80, a 22 year resident of Tucson, passed away July 8, 1997. Born February 9, 1917 in St. Paul, MN. Mr. Johnson was a lifelong member of C.C.C. Chapter 149 and worked for Chicago Great Western Railway. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jessie; daughters, Sharron (Herm) Jordan and Jeanne B. (Jim) Murphy; son, Marc (Debby) Johnson; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m, Friday, July 11, 1997 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave., Rev. Eric Northland officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Tucson Humane Society.

MASUNAS, John J., 89, of Tucson, died July 8, 1997. A resident of Tucson since 1950. Father of John F. (Elizabeth) Masunas; two grandchildren, Michael Masunas and Catherine Clay; one great-grandson, Tyler Austin Masunas, all of Tucson; brother of Mary Spudville of AR, Anne Nicholas of Phoenix and Paul Augulius of Chicago.Funeral Mass Saturday, July 12, 1997 at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial to follow in Holy Hope Cemetery. Visitation Friday, July 11, 1997 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3435 N. 1st Ave., (888-1111).

Carol 'Marty' Marie Myers was born March 11, 1934 to Rev. Mark and Erne (Hortsmeyer) Steege, in Cedar Rapids, IA. She was brought to Jesus, through baptism, when she was five days old, and confirmed her faith in 1947 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Springfield, IL.
Marty was graduated from Concordia Teachers College at Seward, NE and taught at Lutheran schools, at Mill Neck Manor in Long Island, NY, a Lutheran school for the deaf, and in the public school system. Besides teaching, Marty was very involved in the Theatre Guild, and was always very active in community and church work. For the last 17 years she has been a member of The Lutheran Church of the Ascension. She served as president of the L.W.M.L. (Lutheran Women Missionary League), president of A.A.L. (Aid Association for Lutherans). She headed the Christmas giving to the Community for Ascension for 15 years, was active in Operation Deep Freeze, Habitat for Humanity, and was head of The Evangelism Board at her church. She served willingly and joyfully in love for her Savior.
She returned to Springfield, IL where she married William Barney Myers. In Springfield she worked as an adjudicator for the Department of Rehabilitation Services, until she and Barney moved to Tucson to retire.
Marty was preceded in death by her husband, William Barney Myers, and is survived by her 11-year-old nephew, Joshua, who lived with her; Joshua’s mother, Marty’s sister, Sharon Algar; her stepdaughter, Mindy Zech; her stepson, Billy Myers; her brothers, Chaplain Mark (Sylvia) Steege, Richard (Dorothy) Steege, David Steege; and other sisters, Susan (Rev. Robert) Krueger, Judy (Rev. John) Grande, Beth Steege; and 17 nieces and nephews.
Marty was called home to her Lord on Sunday, July 6, at the age of 63 years, three months and 25 days.
Memorials will go to Sandy and Jim Green, missionaries to Africa, and to the Board of Families at The Lutheran Church of the Ascension. All memorials can be sent to the Lutheran Church of the Ascension.
Psalm 146, chapter one, verses 1, 2. 'Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.'

Magdalena Bermudez Renaud, born February 15, 1908 in Caborca, Sonora, Mexico. Her parents were Petra Flores Bermudez and Jesus Bermudez. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Luis Elias Renaud and daughter, Geraldine Renaud; survived by sister, Herminia Bermudez Collins; daughters, Estella Bonillas, Madeline (Joseph) Lupo, Jeanine Sanders, Mary Louise Renaud and Susan (Pat) Hail; son, Peter B. Renaud; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 1997 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Friday, July 11, 1997 at 9:00 a.m at Santa Cruz Church. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY.

ROBINSON, Harry, born September 24, 1936, passed away July 8, 1997. Survived by his wife, Kay; daughter, Eva; son, Sam; four grandchildren, Kenny Robinson of Fulton, NY, Coleen and Matthew McCarthy and Grant Robinson, all of Tucson; sister, Doris Robinson of Massena, NY and niece, Lori Robinson of Panama City, FL. Preceded in death by parents, Eva (Silverstone) and George Frederick Robinson; son, Sidney Robinson and brother, Robert Henry Robinson. Harry was born in Massena, NY and moved to Tucson in 1977. He was employed at Golden Eagle Distributors from 1983 to 1994. Services will be held in Massena, NY at Adath Israel, Sam Jacobs will officiate.

SIMPSON, Mrs. Alma Neher, 98, died on June 29, 1997 in Tucson, her home since 1943. Mrs. Simpson was born April 4, 1899 in Bremen, IN, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Simpson of Bremen and Martha Schlemmer Simpson of Van Wert, OH. Mrs. Simpson was a retired bookkeeper and moved to Tucson from Michigan. She was a widow. Mrs. Simpson is survived by a niece, Mrs. Erma McChesney of Mishawaka, IN; a nephew, Jack McNally of Adrian, MI; grandnephews, Jerry L. Irish of Madison, WI, Albert Irish of Mishawaka, IN and grandnieces, Dora Ellis Handley of Mishawaka, IN and Bonnie Henry of Mishawaka, IN. Graveside Services were held on July 3 with interment in Eastlawn Cemetery. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

SMITHHART, Ramon R. 'Ray', 63, died July 1, 1997. Ramon retired as Chief Warrant Officer from the U.S. Army after 26 years of service. He was a combat Veteran of Korea and Vietnam, receiving the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medal. In 1986 he joined the Pima County Sheriff’s Department as a Correction Officer. One of the many distinguished awards and honors bestowed upon him during his career was the title of Correction Officer of the Year 1991, United States, given by the American Jail Association.Ramon is survived by his loving family. Memorial Service 8:30 a.m, Saturday, July 12 at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church with full military honors. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

James Franklin Turner, Jr., 32, of Tucson, passed away July 6, 1997. Survived by mother, Dorothy Turner; brother, Immanuel Turner; maternal grandmother, Rebecca Dunklin and great aunt, Girseal Bell of Birmingham, AL; also uncle, Mingo Jordan, Jr. of Ohio. Also survived by father, James Turner, Sr.; brother, Byron and sister, Adrienne Turner of Nashville, TN; paternal grandmother, Marie Pinder; maternal aunts, Girseal Dixon, Willie Jordan Curtis, Patricia Greenlaw Fircher, Lidrona Jordan, Cedestra Jordan, Bethany Jordan and uncles, William and Michael Jordan. Also survived by special family members, Adrienne Dixon, Tricia Jordan-Curtis, Khrystina Jordan-Curtis (cousins) of Tucson, AZ and Susan Hitchye of Tucson, AZ, Aaron Gray of Los Angeles, CA and the Gray and Banks Family of Phoenix and Tucson, AZ. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 1997 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 S. VEGA, Raymond T., Jr. 'The Toe', 47, of Tucson, died July 4, 1997. Survived by daughters, Sonya and Felicia Vega and their mother, Yolanda; father, Raymond C. (Vernice F.) and mother, Helen T. Vega and sister, Gloria Vega, (Lisa and Ernie). Services Saturday, 9:00 a.m., Holy Hope Cemetery Mausoleum with Pastor John Heiserman officiating. Military honors by the United States Marine Corps. He will be desperately missed by all who knew and loved him. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, (888-7470).

BORQUEZ, Richard, 51, of Tucson, passed away July 6, 1997. Preceded in death by father, Raymundo Borquez. Survived by wife, Yolanda Borquez; mother, Josephine V. Borquez; daughters, Yolanda and Leticia Borquez; sons, Richard and Daniel Borquez; sisters, Dolores (David) Plude, Veronica (Charles) Mellon, Pat (Danny) Luna;brothers, Raymundo (Olga) Borquez, George (Francine) Borquez; four grandchildren. Murray Lovan Coffman, age 84, of Tucson, died July 4, 1997. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Josephine Coffman; daughter, Linda Sue Bossert; grandchildren, Tracey Mate, Andrea Heyer; sister, Frances B. McNeil; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He practiced chiropractic in the Tucson community many years. He was a member of Delta Sigma Chi Fraternity of Chiropractors, a graduate of Palmer Chiropractic College and a member of the International Chiropractic Association. He is a life member of Tucson Lodge No. 385 of the Order of Elks. His remains will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 12 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, with Rev. Lew Runion officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice Family Care, Tucson General Hospital, 3838 N. Campbell, Tucson, AZ 85719.
