ROSS, Nina M., 73, was born May 10, 1924. She was born in Geneva, IL. She lived in Arizona for 43 years and was employed at Fort Huachucha, AZ and at ASU College of Nursing. Mrs. Ross was a member of the Elks Lodge in Mesa and was very active at All Saints Catholic Church. Mrs. Ross passed away Monday, May 26, 1997 at Mesa Lutheran Hospital in Mesa, AZ. Her survivors include daughters, Sandra Simmons and Barbara Ross; sisters, Peggy Smith and Phyllis Weaver; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions to: American Heart Association, P.O. Box 7038, Mesa, AZ. There will be a Memorial Mass held at All Saints Catholic Church, 1534 N. Recker Rd., in Mesa on June 16, 1997 at 10:00 a.m.

TURNER, Harry Emmitt, 92, who passed away June 10, 1997, was born February 4, 1905 in Grayson County, TX, the youngest of six children of Joseph Thomas Turner of Tennessee and Flora Lee Bush Turner of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his three brothers and two sisters and in 1980 by his wife of 51 years, Delia Finnerty Turner, a native of Cochise County. He is survived by his son, Joell T. Turner and daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Braman Turner of Tucson; his grandchildren, Lee Ann Turner of Boise, ID, J.T. Turner, Jr. of Charlotte, NC and Marcia (Andy) Smith of Raleigh, NC and by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A resident of the Tucson area since 1922, he lived from 1929 to 1937 on his homestead at Helmet Peak. In 1971, he retired from Southern Pacific after 42 years as a switchman. He was a longtime member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish and the Knights of Columbus. Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, June 12 at BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Mass will be offered 9:00 a.m., Friday, June 13 at SS Peter and Paul, 1946 E. Lee. Burial in Holy Hope Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Harry’s name to Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, 2021 N. Kinney Rd., Tucson, AZ 85743, Patronato San Xavier, 6781 N. WADE, Mabella 'Belle', 82, a former Green Valley resident, died June 7, 1997 in Las Vegas, NV. Preceded in death by her husband, Gordon D. Wade. Survived by children, Theodore (Sandra) Wade formerly of Sierra Vista, AZ, Gordon C. (Patricia) Wade of Homedale, ID, Patricia (Robert) Zipay of Las Vegas, NV and Shirley (Richard) Clarke of Show Low, AZ; brother, David Frazier of Lorain, OH; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Employed by Hughes Aircraft Co. in Tucson. Graveside Service, Thursday, June 12, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Valley Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Glenn Lawson officiating. Interment at Green Valley Memorial Gardens, Green Valley, AZ. Remembrances may be made to Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospice of Tucson, 1601 W. CAMARENA, Dora Rosa Sundermann, 92, long time resident of Tucson, passed away peacefully on June 1, 1997 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Vida and Ildefonso Chavez. Born June 23, 1904 in Amecameca (El Salto-Chalco), Mexico, Mexico. Preceding her was her husband of 60 years, Pastor Ottoniel Mesa Camarena. She is survived by seven children, daughters, Damaris Rodriguez, Naomi Obregon, Vida Chavez, Aurelia Erickson, Dionicia Raines; sons, Samuel Camarena and Ottoniel Camarena, Jr.; 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Visitation Tuesday, June 10, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Celebration Service 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave., June 11, Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. Funeral Service, SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL. Interment to follow, South Lawn Cemetery. Pastor Ron Hart and Pastor Samuel Camarena will officiate both Services and Graveside. CHASTENCY, Robert Westervelt, Jr., died in Tucson, AZ the morning of June 7, 1997. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Philip’s in the Hills Church on Thursday, June 12 at 2:00 p.m.

GENTRY, Emmitt, 70, of Tucson, AZ, passed away peacefully on June 6, 1997. He is lovingly survived in life by his wife, Eileen of Tucson; sister, Lorene Graves of Berea, KY; brothers, Burt (Marie) Gentry of Mt. Vernon, KY and Gilbert (Marie) Gentry of Boiling Springs, NC. Emmitt’s loving relatives include his stepchildren, Carmela (Gerald) Plunkett of Tucson, Timothy (Jing) Clennon of Geneva, Switzerland, Cary Clennon of Washington, D.C. and Christopher of Clennon of Tucson; niece, Phyllis (Steven) Fielder of Tucson; nephews, James (Betty) McClure of Paint Lick, KY and Charles (Gloria) Hensly of Tucson and grandchildren, Shawn Plunkett and Nicole Plunkett, both of Tucson. Emmitt is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other loved ones in Kentucky and elsewhere. Emmitt was born in Rockcastle County. Kentucky and moved to Tucson in 1954. He served for over 30 years in a variety of positions at the Hughes Aircraft Company, where he made many friends before retiring in 1985. Emmitt was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army. His ready smile and gentle manner will be sorely missed by all who shared the privilege of knowing him. A memorial service of remembrance will be held for Emmitt on Wednesday, June 11, 1:00 p.m. at St. Cyril’s Church, Pima St. and Swan Rd., in Tucson. Donations in lieu of flowers are gratefully suggested on behalf of TMC Cardiac Rehab, 5301 E. Grant Rd., where Emmitt was blessed with many friendships and loving care.

GERHARDT, Hubert D., 80, joined our Lord and his beloved wife, June 8, 1997. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Helen 'Sally' Priscilla Gerhardt and a great-grandson. Survived by his son, Tom (Margaret) Gerhardt; daughter, Janice Gerhardt; four granddaughters; one grandson and seven great-grandchildren. Hubert moved his family to Tucson in 1953 to work as a Machinist for Hughes Aircraft. He retired after 26 years in 1979. He remained a lifetime member of the IAMAW Local Lodge #933. Funeral Service, 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 11, 1997 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, with Rev. Deborah Morgan officiating. Burial in TMP East Lawn. GONZALES, Ruben G., Sr., 75, of Tucson, born in Marfa, TX in 1922 passed away June 8, 1997. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by everyone. Recently preceded in death by his brother, Rudy of Texas. Survived by his wife, Armida; sons, Ruben Jr. (Bertha) Gonzales, Rudy P. Gonzales, Sr.; daughters, Marina (Albert) Munguia, Betty Benson, Grace (Danny) Martinez, Rita Gonzales; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. A veteran of the Army Air Corp in WWII, a long time miner he worked at Banner Mine and retired from Anamax Mining Co., he was proud to volunteer his time at Food Plus for six years, also a member of American Legion Post #68. Also surviving are sisters, Paula Parras of Tucson, Lucy King, Eva Martinez, Lupe Martinez, Esmeralda Valdez, Ester Gonzales, all of Texas; brothers, Adam Gonzales, Ernest Gonzales, Manuel Gonzales, also from Texas. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 1997 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Thursday, June 12, 1997 at St. John’s Church, 602 W. Ajo Way. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY.

HEISERMAN, Jeanne, R.N., 69, went to join Jesus and her husband, Dr. Fred Heiserman, in heaven on Saturday, June 7, 1997. She is survived by her daughter, Janie (Greg) Horak and son, John(Denise) Heiserman. Jeanne was blessed with eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Born in Bridgeport, IL at the age of 12 she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She graduated nursing school in Evansville, IN in 1948. Jeanne married her husband, Fred in 1950 and helped put him through medical school. Jeanne worked along side her husband for many years in the Romero Road Medical Clinic since 1966 upon arriving in Tucson and for 16 years as a volunteer nurse to the poor in the Nogales Baptist Free Clinic. She was active at First Southern Baptist Church and also its mission, Continental Community Church, in the nursery, the Women’s Bible Study Group and helped home-school her grandchildren. Jeanne was a very generous and loving lady. She loved her patients who quickly became her friends. Jeanne taught her family to love by example and became the 'grandmother' of any one who needed one. We know she is happy in heaven but those on earth will miss her greatly. In lieu of lowers, the family requests donations be made to First Southern Baptist Church to buy Bibles for the next crusade made to the John Heiserman Ministries. Funeral Service will be held at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, located at 3435 N. First Ave. at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 1997. Burial will be at East Lawn.

HUNT, Stephen, 56 years old, died June 7, 1997, Saturday in Tucson. Survived by his ex-wife, Linda Hunt of Brunswick, GA; two sons, Edward (Veronica) Hunt and Jeffrey Hunt, both of Tucson; one daughter, Ginger (Monir) Gharbiah of Tucson; two stepsons, Chris Frontroth of Tucson and Brenden Bulat of Austin, TX; sister, Lonna Scott of Tucson; five grandchildren and six step-grandchildren. Services for Mr. Hunt will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 12, 1997 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Linden Chapel, 1540 E. Linden, Tucson, with Burial to be at 4:00 p.m., Thursday at Show Low City Cemetery, Show Low, AZ. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 1997 at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, Tucson.

JAROCH, Jayne G. (nee Wakely), born August 19, 1919 and died June 8, 1997. Preceded in death by husband, Stanley; brother, Richard Wakely and granddaughter, Rachel. Survived by children, Stanley (Carol), Timothy (Patricia), Michael (Marsha), James (Beverly), Francis (Susan), Rodney, Joseph, John (Diane), Christopher, Julia Venkatapathy (Ethiraj), Bernadette Hagerman (Steven), Mary Sullivan, Madeline and 27 grandchildren. Memorial Mass, Wednesday, 9:00 a.m., Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment to follow in Illinois. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile.

MELTON, Thelma, 80, passed away June 6, 1997 after a short illness. Survived by loving husband, George; children, Curt (Dodie) Melton, Philip (Diane) Melton and Mary F. Clark; grandchildren, Suzette Holt, Mark Melton, Cecilia Melton, Jim Clark and Jeff Clark. Mrs. Melton also has three great-grandchildren. Thelma was born in Springfield, IL on July 26, 1916 and moved to Tucson in 1951. She was a graduate of St. John’s Nursing School, St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. Thelma and George were married on December 27, 1939 in Springfield and she retired from nursing in 1943 to raise her family. Thelma was active in the formation of St. Cyril’s Catholic Church at Salpointe Catholic High School. She was also a past member of the Tucson JCettes. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 10 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Mass will be offered 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 11 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco with Fr. Robert Tamminga officiating. Burial in Holy Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The American Heart Association or the Asthmatic Foundation. SHULL, Harry, 93, passed away on June 9, 1997 with Bess, his wife of 71 years, at his side. He retired to Tucson in 1965 and began his second career working in real estate management with his son, Jerry and daughter-in-law, Ann until he was 90. His other son, Arthur and daughter-in-law, Charlotte live in Ithaca, NY; his five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Services and Burial will be in Westchester, NY.

STROCK, Edna Hook, 71, died June 9, 1997. Survived by husband, Robert Strock of Tucson; son, Robert D. Strock, Jr., of Florida; daughter, Diane Strock of Maryland; brothers, David Hook of Indiana and James Hook of Michigan; sisters, Harriet Walker of Texas and Janet Darnell of California; grandchild, Leslie Strock of Florida. Survived by children, Emma Everingham, Marvin Ballentine (Montav), Jim Ballentine (Kathern), 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Johnson. Preceded in death by husband, Marvin (Slim); sons, John, Wade and Mick. Robirty’s loving presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her. KOHLBECK, Oma, 81, of Tucson. Died June 7, 1997. Survived by daughter, Earlene (Ron) Pruett of Tucson; six grandchildren.Preceded in death by daughter, Myrna. LOGAN, Pearl D. (Jones), age 89, passed away Thursday, June 5, 1997. Survived by her children, Mary and Albert; grandchildren, Deborah, Jennifer, Albert, Paul, David; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Ollie (Bill) Grantham. She is remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. An active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church and orders of the Amaranth and Eastern Star. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 1997 at Northminster Presbyterian Church. Dr. Andrew G. Ross and Dr. Richard Rowley officiating. Visitation will be held Today, June 9, 1997 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pearl Logan Memorial Fund at the Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2450 East Ft. Lowell Rd.
