Wallace W. Loui, 78 years old*, died October 22, 1997. He was born November 21, 1922 in Toy-sun, China. He came to Tucson, AZ in 1979. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann; one sister; three brothers; eight children, Josephine Hum and Thomas Hum son-in-law, Patricia Yau and Robert Yau son-in-law, Jim Loui and Pamela Loui daughter-in-law, Suzanne Ho and John Ho son-in-law, William Loui and Celia Loui daughter-in-law, Sarah Lau and Ben Lau son-in-law, Amy Leung and Tin Leung son-in-law, Jack Loui and Alice Loui daughter-in-law; 21 grandchildren; one grand-daughter-in-law, and one great-granddaughter. Viewing will be held at EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, 3015 N. Oracle Rd., Saturday, October 25 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. where Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 1997.

MATHEWS, Joseph Leon, died October 20, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Susan and his sons, Roman and Gabriel. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 1997 at Tortolita Presbyterian Church, 10710 N. Thornydale at 5:00 p.m.

MORRIS, Julie Ann, 14, died October 21, 1997. She is survived by her mother, Renee Keilman; father, James Morris; sister, Jennifer Morris; stepfather, Jim Sampson; stepsister, Ivy Sampson; grandparents, Jack (Sylvia) Keilman, Nancy (Tony) Cooper; boyfriend, Jaron Morris. She was a freshman at Sahuaro High School. Funeral Service 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

Ireane Donner Peggs, age 72, passed away October 16, 1997. She was born on October 17, 1924 in Ft. Hall, Idaho. Ireane attended the University of Arizona and graduated with honors in 1945. She received her Master’s Degree in music from Columbia shortly thereafter. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joseph Peggs; son, Joseph Peggs Jr; daughters, Joy Peggs Booth, Jill Peggs Sande and Julie Peggs Wesley; brother, William Whipple; sister, Ilene Hunter; and four grandchildren. During Ireane’s life time, she was a member of Sweet Adeliane’s, a docent at the Heard Museum, an organist and choir director for many churches and just received an award for 65 years in Scouting. She spent countless hours volunteering for anyone who needed her and always had a smile for everyone. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Valley, 15115 E. Flower St., Phx, AZ 85014. Services, Saturday, October 25, 1:00 p.m. Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 2222 S. Price Rd., Tempe, AZ. The family would like to thank all of Ireane’s friends for their gifts of cards and prayer.

RICHEY, Adele C., beloved wife of W. Shelley Richey, is survived by her daughter, Jeanine, son-in-law, Dave Duncan, grandsons, Shelley and Chris Duncan; and her brother, Gene Colaw. Adele passed away on October 17, 1997 and services were held for the immediate family and close friends at Santa Catalina Mission on October 20, 1997. Adele will be remembered as a loving wife, a caring mother, her son-in-law’s best fan, a nurturing Gramie and her brother’s best friend. She will be missed by all who loved her.

SALAZAR, Esther J., 82, of Tucson, passed away October 21, 1997. Preceded in death by husband, Trinidad O. Salazar. Survived by daughter, Caroline (Wayne) McKaskle; son, Herman (Joann) Salazar; sisters, Eva Z Jimenez and Graciela Jimenez; brothers, Carlos Jimenez and Rafael Jimenez; grandchildren, Eric, Daniel and Michael. Born in Sonora, Mexico, emigrated to Tucson and fulfilled her wish to become a talented seamstress. Loving wife and mother. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 1997 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 South Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Saturday, October 25, 1997 at 9:00 a.m. at St.Margaret’s Church. ATKINSON, Stanley Fred, Major Retired USAF, 73, of Tucson, passed away Thursday, October 16, 1997, in Phoenix, AZ. He was born June 26, 1924, in Franklin, ID, to Fred Charles and Della Schow Atkinson. He graduated from Preston High School in 1942 and then joined the Army Air Corps in 1943. He married Lennis Turner on November 23, 1950, in Preston, ID. He retired from the Air Force in 1970 and worked as a real estate agent in Tucson from 1970-87. He was a member of the BPOE for 43 years, and was a life member of the Retired Officers Association and the NRA. He is survived by his wife, Lennis, of Tucson, AZ; two daughters and one son, Vicki M. Barlow, Tucson; Terry L. Atkinson, Tucson; Linda D. (Scott) Rhodes, Tucson; two sisters, three brothers, Margie Powers, Brigham City, UT; Don C. (Ardys) Atkinson, Layton, UT; Dorothy (Denzil) Baird, Brigham City, UT; Perry L. Atkinson, Layton, UT; Larry B. (Lillian) Atkinson, Chantilly, VA; and two granddaughters, Alana and Andrea Rhodes. A celebration of Stanley’s life will be held for friends and family Saturday, October 25, East Side Elks 2532, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. 615 S. Pantano. Donations to American Diabetes Association.

ERNST, Minarose, age 82, of Tucson, died October 20, 1997. Preceded in death by daughter, Margaret. Survivors include husband of 48 years, Leonard. Gonzales; daughters, Yolanda (Chayo) Palomerez, Eva (Jose Louis) Murillo, Norma Mendoza; sons, Manuel (Margie) Gonzales, Reynaldo (Alma) Gonzales, Raul Gonzales, Jr., Michael (Silvia) Gonzales; brother, Rueben A. Robert ”Bobby” Earle Manning II, Our Precious Son Bobby, born August 7, 1979, passed away tragically October 18, 1997. Survived by his loving parents, Robert and Bobara Manning; brother, Jason C. Pinckney; girlfriend, Sara Sermeno; grandmother, Elizabeth Pinckney, all of Tucson and grandmother, Windolyn Manning of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; great-grandmother, Gussie Mae Pinckney of Atlanta, GA; great-aunts, Kathryn (Cecil) Beatty of Tucson and Ella Mae Bryant of Savannah, GA; aunts, Gloria (Fred) Bowman, Della (Ronnell) Grant, Theresa (Jimmy) Johnson, all of Tucson, Norma Scott of London, England, Hyacinth Sweeney, Jacquelyn Manning, Andrea Manning; uncles, Carlton Manning, Delvin Sweeney, Roy Sweeney, Leighton Manning, Ewart (Lindsay) Manning, all of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Bobby also leaves behind many cousins and other relatives, and as a student at Palo Verde High School, a host of many, many friends. MORENO, Hector L., born March 29, 1934, died October 21, 1997. Survived by loving family: wife, Josefina; children, Nilda (Fred), Brenda (Ramon), Laura (Ted), Hector, Jr. (Sandi), and Jorge (Monica); eight grandchildren (one on the way). Retired from Phelps Dodge, Douglas, Az after 32 years. US Army Veteran. Thank you for the beautiful memories we will always cherish. You will live in our hearts forever til we see you again. We love you and will miss you immensely.

TRAVER, Thomas C. (Airborne), age 47, died October 20, 1997. Mr. Traver was born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan July 25, 1950 and has resided in Tucson for the past 27 years. He is survived by his wife, Michele of Tucson; two daughters, Lisa and Shawna; two sons, Michael and Frank, all of Tucson; one sister, Pamela of Michigan; three grandchildren also survive him. The Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at ADAIR CHAPEL, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway). Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Cyril’s Church, 4725 E. Pima. The family has requested that those who desire to do so may contribute to the Vietnam Veterans of America, P.O. Box 40903, Tucson, AZ 85717. TURNER, Alberta W. ”Peach”, born January 25, 1912, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 1997 at the Park Marino Health Center in Pasadena, CA. Alberta was born in Morgan, UT to Pearl and Albert Williams. She was a graduate of B.Y.U. and taught school in Morgan. She married Walter Turner (deceased) on September 2, 1941 in the Salt Lake Mormon Temple. They started a family while in Ogden, UT, before moving to Pasadena (Linda Vista area) in 1953. Mom was a life long member of the L.D.S. Church and worked in many positions at the Pasadena Ward. She was a Daughter of the Utah Pioneers, a Primary Teacher, PTA, Voter Volunteer and Ward Historian. She was famous for her ”Red Cake” holiday dinners and calling us for ”mop up” which is leftovers. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her family: Walter Albert and Jean Anne (Blakee) Turner of Irvine, Gloria and David Rubardt of San Marino, Joan and Frank Brommenschenkel of Ventura, George N. and Cheryl Turner of Glendora; and her beautiful grandchildren, Erica, Jennifer, Nicole, Jonathan, Heather, and her many friends. Visitation will be Thursday and Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 25 at Douglass & Zook Mortuary Chapel, 600 E. Foothill Blvd., Monrovia, CA, Major Elmer E. Yardley officiating. The Family will have a Remembering Book for those who wish to write about Mom. She will be laid to rest with Dad at Live Oak Memorial Park, Monrovia, CA. The Turner Family would like to thank the staff of Park Marino Health Center for their excellent care and kindness to our mother and to Douglass & Zook Mortuary for assisting our family. BENT, Thomas P., 82, died October 19, 1997. Survived by his wife, Genevieve Klein-Bent; sister, Blanche Kroehnke; and several nieces and nephews. CARAWAY, L. Dean, M.D., 69, died Sunday, October 19, 1997 in Tucson, Arizona. He was born on January 30, 1928 in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. He attended Navy pre-flight school, . Harvard and graduated from Cornell College in Mt. Vernon. He went on the to the University of Iowa School of Medicine where he graduated in 1955. He was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the honor medical society. After completing an internship in Fresno, California he set up a family practice in Monticello, Iowa for 36 years. He moved his practice to Amana, Iowa in 1971 where he served as physician for the Amana Refrigeration plant, Amana and surrounding communities. He served as president and speaker of the house of the Iowa Medical Society and was very active in the American Heart Association. He retired from his Amana practice in 1991 and moved with his wife, Joan, to Tucson, Arizona where he loved to golf. He was an enthusiastic and loyal Iowa Hawkeye fan, traveling with various teams in a medical capacity. He was a very talented and dedicated doctor with a great sense of humor who most describe as a ”character.” He was very much loved and will be missed as a friends, husband, father and opa. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Joan of Tucson; three daughters, Jane Caraway and Kevin Behrends (Cedar Rapids), Cate and Bill Tyynela and grandson, Nicholas, Susan and Greg Hartman and granddaughter, Olivia (all of Minneapolis); three stepchildren, Dr. Robert S. Fawcett; wife, Christy and daughters, Julia and Claire, Dr. John S. Fawcett and wife, Elizabeth (all of Hanover, Pennsylvania) and Eadie F.Waver, husband, Mark and children, Christian and Allyson. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Daniel. Survived by three sisters, Marguerite ”Babe” Burge (Cedar Rapids), Ruby Solma (Phoenix, Arizona) and Maye Hayden (Hawthorne, California). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 28 at 4:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids. A celebration of life will follow at Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Iowa Medical Society Education Fund, 1001 Grand Avenue West Des Moines, Iowa 50265-3599.

DAVIS, Vernell, age 78, of Tucson, passed away Sunday, October 19, 1997. She is preceded in death by her husband, James E. Davis; and daughter, Shirley Lynn. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Marie David of Phoenix; and sister, Della Standage of Mesa. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 24, 1997 at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

FRY, Everett E., 77, of Tucson, died October 17, 1997. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Donna; two sons, Michael Fry and James (Rita) Fry. Mr. Fry spent 24 years with Hughes Aircraft as a Precision Sheet Metal Senior. He had a lifelong interest in aviation and loved nature. His interest in gemstones, which started as a hobby became a business. His artistic creations can be found all over the country. Private Graveside Services were held Tuesday, October 21, 1997 at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.
