ATKINS, Mary Jo, 52 years old, died March 3, 1998, Tuesday in Tucson. Born on September 27, 1945 in Glencove, New York. Survived by son, Frederick Miller of San Francisco, CA; two daughters, Saundra Shephard and Jennette Atkins, both of New York; brother, John Grella and sister, Annette Bono, both of New York; three grandchildren and lots of nieces, nephews and cousins. No Services are planned at this time. Arrangements handled by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 881-0338.

BETANCOURT, Tatiyana, 8 days old, of Tucson, died March 1, 1998. Survivors include father, Manuel Betancourt; mother, Christine Milush. She is our little Angel and will be missed by all her loving family. BOWMAN, (Anna) Meryl Sheets, 85, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband, mining executive, Allan B. Bowman and son, Steven E. Bowman. She is survived by her four children, Mark A. (Gayle) Bowman, David B. Bowman, Kathleen M. Bowman and Marjorie A. (Tom) Nelson; and nine grandchildren, John G. (Kim) Holland, Ryan Nelson, Jennifer (Jason) Bowman Koop, Todd Nelson, Christopher Bowman, Chad Nelson, Erin Nelson, Tyler Nelson, and Heather Nelson. She is also survived by a sister, Janice S. Oliver. She was born of pioneer heritage in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a Tucson resident for 47 years. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. at Sabino Canyon Ward, 6150 E. Fairmount, with Visitation one hour prior. Interment to follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY .

Robert W. Flugum, 73, of Tucson, was born June 12, 1924, son of the late Burns Ingvald and Hjordis (Arneson) Flugum. He was a native ofMadison, WI and an electrical engineering graduate of the University of Wisconsin in 1948. Mr. Flugum was a recognized authority on power transmission and distribution. He was a Fellow of the IEEE and served as chairman on various committees and he was an Atwood Associate of CIGRE. He is survived by his beloved companion of 21 years, Eileen Wood Flugum; sister, Joyce (Glen) Gauper of Stoughton, WI; sons, Burns Flugum and Tim (Kathy) Flugum of Tujunga, CA, David Flugum of Ravenna, OH, Eric Flugum of Jacksonville, FL, Thomas (Tia) Flugum of Marietta, GA; daughter, Susan (Dwight) Rhodes of Alvin, TX; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandson; numerous nephews and nieces. A Memorial Service is to be held Saturday, March 7, 2:00 p.m., EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the Bank of America for the Robert W. Flugum Scholarship Fund to be established at the College of Electrical Engineering, University of Wisconsin-Madison, in care of the family. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY.

CIMMIYOTTI, Phyllis, 74, of Tucson, died March 3, 1998. Preceded in death by husband, Vernard. Survivors include three children, Ron (Marie) Jeffery and Kathy (Sebits); five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Frank and Ernie and three sisters, Nellie, Betty and Alberta.Phyllis was a freelance photographer and a true friend to the Yaqui people. GRANT, Charles, 38, of Tucson, died February 18, 1998. He was a nurse's aid. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, March 5, 1998 from 9:00 to 9:30. HOGMAN, John Ernest, 79, died March 4, 1998. Husband of Barbara Hogman of Tucson; brother of Manford E. Hogman and William G. Hogman, both of Puyallup, WA, Florence A. Hankel of Seattle, WA, Ruth M. Johnson of Graham, WA, Lila M. Swift of Youngstown, NY and Mary Jane Giuliani of Renton, WA; numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by brother, Harold A. Hogman in 1960. Member of Boulevard Baptist Church and served as Deacon. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 1998 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Interment to follow at T.M.P. South Lawn. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 1998 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

VALENCIA, Federico, 55, of Tucson, passed away February 28, 1998. Survived by wife, Ruthann Valencia; father, Frank R.Chavez; daughters, Andrea (Jeff) Stafford, Carla and Deanna; sister, Mary; brothers, Augustine (Amelia) V. Valencia, Manny (Alma), Frank (Barbara) and Ernesto Chavez; also survived by one grandson, Alezay Prince. Visitation will be held Friday, March 6, 1998 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, South Chapel, 240 S. Stone Ave. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Saturday, March 7, 1998 at 9:00 a.m., Santa Cruz Catholic Church, 1220 S. 6th Ave. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. He was in the Air Force eight years; had his own business for 12 years and loved animals. He was a very generous and loving husband, father, son, and brother. Preceded in death by mother, Lupe. WHITAKER, Judith Anne Pulver Ketchem, born July 26, 1939 in Springfield, IL, died March 3, 1998. Survived by second husband, M/Sgt Ret. Murel M. Whitaker; son, Dale Alan Ketchem (Deborah); granddaughter, Katrina Ketchem; daughter, Mary Denise Ketchem; sister, Sally M. Roberts (Jesse), all of Tucson; brother, Russel C. Pulver Jr. (Louise) of Reno, NV; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; three stepchildren and six step-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Russell and Juanita Pulver; sisters, Mary Alice Robillard and Evelyn June Hurley and first husband, Joseph C. AVERY, Oliver T. (Jack), born in Kalamazoo, MI, November 10, 1917, died peacefully at home on March 1, 1998. He was known to his loving family and friends as ”BABE”. Survived by his wife of 46 years, Jan Avery; sons, Ted S. and David D. and daughter, Susan G. Avery. He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Artillery Unit in the European Theater. He spent over 25 years in lumber and hardware sales in California until his retirement and had spent the last 20 years in Tucson. He was an outdoor enthusiast and volunteer at Catalina State Park. He is also survived by his close and loving in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Roland E. Riera, Mrs. Gloria Riera and Mrs. Susie Bullington; several grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. We shall all miss his gentle, kind and loving ways. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross, Southern Arizona Chapter, 3915 E. Broadway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85711. BARNETT, Betty Jane, age 68, died on February 28, 1998. Mrs. Barnett, a retired registered nurse, came to Tucson from Maryland 25 years ago. Inurnment will take place in the family's plot in St. Louis, MO. Arrangements by family owned ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.

Alex Joseph Coelho, 17, passed away March 1, 1998. He was born April 29, 1980. He is survived by his parents Richard and Cathy Coelho of Tucson; sister, Melissa; brother, Christopher; grandparents Johnny and Jackie Chronister of Tucson and Alex and Betty Coelho of Turlock, California; Great-grandmothers Violet Copeland of Tucson and Rose Knudsen of Modesto, California and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Alex was a senior a Sahuarita High School where he participated in baseball, basketball and was a member of the golf team. He also played Little League for Copper Hills and football for Pop Warner Rams. Visitation will be held March 4, 1998 7-9 PM at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, rosary will be at 7:30 PM. Services will be held March 5, 1998 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church 10 AM by Father Bob Brazaska, 505 N. La Canada Dr, Green Valley. Alex, you are in our hearts forever.

COLEMAN, Bob F., 83, of Marana, died February 28, 1998. Survived by his wife of 44 years, Leona Coleman; daughter, Mildred J. (Charles F.) Bussey of Tucson; sons, Bobby C. (Mary) Coleman of Clarksville, TN, Billy E. Coleman of San Angelo, TX; sisters, Bertha Blackburn of Tucson, Oma Gunn of Aransas Pass, TX, Jane Borem of Corpus Christi, TX; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. COPUS, Patricia M., 68, a former, long time Tucson resident, died in Glendale, AZ February 21, 1998. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Bennie J. Copus of Glendale; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Kathy Copus of Tucson; daughter, Kathy Copus and grandsons, Santos and Sergio of Phoenix and cousins Elaine Handke and Betty Schoof of Tucson.

DAVIS, Calvin, 89, former resident of Tucson, died March 1, 1998 in Laguna Hills, CA. Survived by wife, Kathryn Davis of San Clemente, CA; and daughter, Robin Schroeder of Laguna Hills, CA; sons, Michael J. Ward of Sacramento, CA, Douglas Lee Ward of AZ; grandchildren, Terry Ward, Jim Ward, Doug Ward Jr., Robert Calvin Ward, Deborah Ward and Jason Ward; and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Davis worked as a locomotive engineer for Southern Pacific Railroad for over 42 years. Services, Friday, 11:00 a.m., East Lawn Palms Mausoleum, 5801 E. Grant Rd., with Rev. Dr. William F. EMERICK, Robert C., died suddenly on March 1, 1998. Born December 12, 1916 in Eau Claire, WI. Preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Marjorie. He is survived by his sons, Terry and Mike; daughter-in-law, Arna; sisters, Nonie King of Altoona, WI and Donna Spivey of Joliet, IL, Bob was a resident of Tucson since 1948, he loved the desert, was an avid gardener and loved to cook. He always lived life to the fullest. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, March 5, 1998 at South Lawn Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.

Frederic J. Emer, 80, of Tucson, AZ went to be with his Lord on Friday, February 27, 1998. He is survived by Doris, his loving wife, companion and best friend of 55 years; his sons, Allen, Dudley, Richard and his beloved grandson, Sean. He is also survived by his two brothers, Milt and Dick and sister, Eleanor. Born in Newark, NJ on April 7, 1917, he attended Newark College of Engineering until leaving to serve in the U.S. Army 137th Radio Signal Intelligence Company in the European Theater of Operations during WWII. He returned to a career in heavy equipment sales in Union and then Ocean Grove, NJ before retiring to Tucson in 1982 where he was a member of the Desert Skies United Methodist Church and a member of the 49'ers Golf and Country Club. He was active in establishing SCUBA diving as a sport in the 1950's and remained throughout his life an enthusiastic proponent of education, exploration and joy of life to his sons and many friends. His love of people, his wit and his great humor was an inspiration and lasting memory to all those whose lives he touched. Private family services will be held. Those wishing to honor the memory of an exceptionally kind and loving man, may make donations to the Dignita Hospice Care program. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.
