Survived by his wife, Rosella; children, Maura(Kenneth), Kathleen (Michael), David (Nancy), John (Terry), Cheryl (David); 11grandchildren, Gwen, Tyler, Patrick, Magdalena, Sarah, Trevor, Colin, Christina, Paul, Jacob, Samantha; two brothers, Lawrence, Maurice; three sisters, Velma, Myra, Yvonne. He was a member of the VFW Post 549, American Legion Post 36. Mass will be said Saturday, May 30, 1998 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 235 S. Craycroft with Entombment to follow at Our Lady of the Desert. Friends may call from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. Saturday at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL. Family suggest memorials be made to St. Elizabeth of Hungary, 140 W. Speedway or St. Joseph's School, 215 S. Craycroft.

FINE, Arthur. October 14, 1902 – May 27, 1998. Beloved husband of Sylvia for 64 years. Adored father of Alice Fine and cherished grandfather of Leslie Fine. A graduate of New York University, he was Past President of M. Fine & Sons Mfg. Co., Inc. in NYC (founded in 1890). He was founder and Past President of Temple Israel in Great Neck, NY and former Vice President and Life Trustee of Park Avenue Synagogue in NYC. His life was one of compassion, grace, honesty, intellect, humility and dignity. He was a devoted supporter and honoree of the Jewish Theological Seminary in NYC and the United Jewish Appeal since the inception of the State of Israel.

HAMERSLEY, Mary E., 74, born September 22, 1923 in Oil City, Pennsylvania and died Wednesday, May 27, 1998. Mary is survived by her husband, Don; son, Terry Richardson; daughters, Martha (Ray) Munguia, Carol (Mike) Carmichael and Frances (Bill) Grose; grandchildren, Monica, Christian, Michael and Chandra; great-grandchildren, Bryanna and Leanna. Mary served in the Women's Army Corp during World War II and made her home in Tucson since 1948. Memorial Services, 4:00 p.m. May 29, 1998 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Avenue. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Lupus Foundation.

HAWKINS, Pearl Elizabeth, 75, of Tucson, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 26, 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hayden Hawkins. Pearl is survived by her sons, John (Barbara) and Larry Hawkins, both of Helvetia, AZ; son, William (Linda) Hawkins of Poplarville, Mississippi; daughter, Sharlett (Troy) Truitt of Carriere, Mississippi; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters. Funeral Services, 10:00 a.m. Sunday, May 31, 1998 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Avenue. Friends may pay their respects one hour prior to service. Burial to follow in South Lawn Cemetery.

HOUSE, Grace E., 77, died May 26, 1998 and joined her beloved husband, Loyd in the eternal peace of Jesus Christ. Born November 26, 1920 in Colorado. She raised a family, worked as a registered nurse and was an artist and author. She is survived by her children, Natalie Oaks of Colorado and Larry (Connie) House of Tucson; grandchildren, Erin, Cindy, Staci and Erik and five great-grandchildren. There will be a family memorial service held in Colorado after which she will be returned to the Colorado Mountains she loved. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

MADISON, Jane Frances, 59, died May 26, 1998. Survived by husband, Jordan Madison; children, James Madison, Jordon Madison (Andy) Jr., Mary Jane Madison and Dean Sandoval; sisters, Delores Shenkus and Eileen Rode. Mass will be offered 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 1998 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo with interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Edward F. McElwain
February 28, 1955 to May 21, 1998
Beloved son of Helen and the late Edw. McElwain; brother of Jeff (Michelle); uncle to Amanda, Ben and Tai and kindred spirit to his family, many friends and co-workers across the country. Ed received his undergraduate degree at Georgetown University. In and out of politics, he then completed his Master's Degree at University of Arizona. Ed ran his own company, Harmony Development, for the benefit of others for many years. Ed and his faithful friend, Bump, where buried in the Yavapai-Apache Cemetery by Camp Verde, where he was honored with a beautiful ceremony led by Vincent Randall, Yavapai-Apache and Rex Tilousi, Havasupai and attended by many tribal nations, including Hualapai, Fort Mohave, San Juan Piute, Yavapai-Apache and Havasupai, friends and family. In recognition of Ed's work and devotion to so many, in his memory – 'Hay'gu – Ed and Bump Memorial Scholarship Fund' has been established at Bank One AZ to further the education and preservation of Native American culture. Your contribution would be greatly appreciated in continuing Ed's vision.

MARY JOYCE 'PEGGY' MYRICK, born July 1, 1931, in Deer River, MN; died May 20, 1998 in Tijuana, Mexico, after a brief struggle with pancreatic cancer. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 1998, at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, 3809 E. Third St.

George Merle Nakis, Colonel U.S.A.F. (Ret), born June 27th 1924 in E. Chicago, Indiana. Entered into eternal rest on Memorial Day, May 25th 1998 in Tucson, Arizona after a battle valiantly fought. Preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Eunice Nakis. For 42 years much beloved husband of Sonia; adored father and father-in-law of Debbie and Jim, Georgia and Joel and Ken; very loved granddad of Katie, Jimmy, Christopher and Kandra. Very special love of his twin sister, Mary Jane and her husband, Adam and all his nieces and nephews. He served proudly in the USAF for 34 years. He flew many combat B-24 missions in WWII in Europe and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for Valor at age 19. He was also awarded the Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster and many other awards later in his career. He distinguished himself by graduating from the Air War College and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He also served with the Central Intelligence Agency. He was a member of the Order of Daedalians. He will be sadly missed by his family, his many friends and by his faithful companions, Bo and Pepe. Funeral Service, 9:00 a.m. Monday, June 1, 1998 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 3737 Old Sabino Canyon Rd. Interment to follow at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Phoenix, AZ. at 2:00 p.m. with full Military Honors by U.S.A.F. RIVERA, Concepcion 'Connie' R., 82, of Tucson, passed away May 26, 1998. Preceded in death by husband, William L. Rivera; son, William R. Rivera. Survived by son, Richard R. Rivera; sisters, Lilly Puentes, Hortencia Vasquez, Elma Marquez and Julie Yanez; brothers, Antonio, Guadalupe, Robert and Rudy Riesgo. Also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May31, 1998 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at St.Augustine's Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. with Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be offered on Monday, June 1, 1998, 9:00 a.m. also at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Family suggest donations be made to the Cathedral Maintenance Fund. Thank you Connie for everything you have done for us. We're happy you're with Tatita and dad. We know you'll all be watching us until our time has come to join you. We love you, Danny, Patricia, William and Alejandro.

Beloved mom, sister and grandma, passed away in San Diego, CA. Preceded in death by mom, Paulina Flores; son, Tony. She is survived by her sons, Carlos (Norma), Tucson, Manny (Anna), Reuben (Cheryl), Chacho, Johnny (Marta), San Diego; daughters, Gloria (Tony) Lopez, Tijuana, Carmen (Felix) Estrada, San Diego; brothers, Ray (Frances) Lopez, Las Angeles, Johnny(Josie) Coronel; sisters, Gloria Garcia, Julia (Mele) Soltero; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held for her and her sister-in-law, Hortencia Coronel, Blas and Paulina on Saturday 30th of May at San Xavier Mission at 5:30 p.m.

SOLAND, Scott Brooks, 45, born in Omaha, Nebraska on March 12, 1953, died May 23, 1998 in Sierra Vista. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Wesley A. Soland in October 1991. Scott loved the desert and its beauty. He enjoyed hiking and camping when he had a chance. He also loved people and enjoyed sharing with them and helping in anyway he could. He was very proud to be a member of the United Methodist Church in Sierra Vista. Survivors include loving wife, Sandra; mother, Dorothy Soland, Tucson, AZ; brothers, Brad (Susan), Craig (Linda), Mark (Lori); sons, Todd (Tina), Damone (Cory); niece, Samantha and nephews, Eric, John, Pete, Will and two granddaughters, Bailey and Haleigh. Memorial Service, Saturday, May 30, 10:00 a.m. Sierra Vista Methodist Church, 3225 St. Andrews Rd., Sierra Vista. WILLEFORD, Ona Morgan, born August 13, 1917 in Muscatine, Iowa, resident of Tucson since 1957, died on May 27, 1998 at the age of 80. Preceded in death by husbands, Charles Albert Morgan in 1970 and Marion Willeford in 1973. Survived by son, Walter (Judith) Morgan and daughter, Etta 'Kelly' (Don) Falconer; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Dr. Andrew G. Ross will officiate at a Graveside Service 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 30 at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Ona was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. BICKEL, Catherine A. (nee Putrament), beloved wife, of Timothy Bickel; dearest mother of Benjamin, Adam and Charles Bickel; loving daughter of Stanley and Darlene Putrament; sister of Michael, Carol Maciel, Joan Aponte and Kristin Gates, passed away April 25, 1998 in Buffalo, NY. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on June 3, Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Our Mother of Sorrows Church. Friends invited.

GREENMAN, Thelma G. 'TG', went to her eternal home on February 26, 1998 after a long illness. She joins her beloved husband of 50 years, Joseph E. Greenman. An active resident of Independence Village, East Lansing, Michigan she was born in Crosby, North Dakota September 29, 1907 and had resided in upstate New York, Florida and Arizona before moving to East Lansing, Michigan. She had numerous occupations throughout her life and most recently contributed her musical talents to her fellow residents. She was active in the Altar Guild and St. Elizabeth's Guild at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Lansing, Michigan. She is survived by her son, Philip E. Greenman, D.O. and daughter-in-law, Patricia of Okemos, Michigan; two grandsons, John of Greenwood Village, Colorado and Jeffrey of Ajax, Ontario, Canada; and five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alexander, Matthew, Emily and Andrew. A Memorial Service and Celebration of a Life will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 218 W. Ottawa, Lansing, MI. Saturday, May 30, 1998 at 1:00 p.m. Her wishes for donations in her memory were to the Memorial Fund of St. Paul's Episcopal Church or to the Philip E. Greenman Endowed Fellowship at the College of Osteopathic Medicine, A310 East Fee Hall, MSU, East Lansing, MI 48824. Private Interment Service will be in Acacia Park, Tonawanda, New York. ITULE, Edmond 'Eddie' Basila, passed away May 26, 1998. He was born June 16, 1920 in Bisbee, Arizona. Eddie was a veteran of WWII, but spent most of his life in Nogales, Arizona where he owned and operated a produce brokerage business for more than 30 years. He is survived by wife, Sandra of Phoenix; five children, Thomas E. Itule, Stephen E. Itule, Edmond B. Itule, Jr., Catherine A. Itule, Major Itule, and numerous grandchildren. He is also survived by two loving sisters, Emily Wooden and Gloria (Dick) Farage as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Eddie loved life and lived it to its fullest. He had an incredible talent for music and a beautiful voice which his children inherited. During his youth, Eddie played in bands which gave him, and anyone lucky enough to hear his music, great pleasure. His sons are now carrying on that legacy through their bands and musical talent. He was also a great storyteller with a wonderful sense of humor. Everyone loved to hear his stories, especially from the 'old days.' He led a very colorful life and could captivate people of all ages when he talked about his exploits. Eddie loved to laugh and wanted only love and happiness for those closest to him. He was truly loved and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Goodbye Pop and goodbye Cuz. Funeral Mass will be Monday, June 1, 1998 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church at 9:00 a.m. with interment to follow in Holy Hope Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation Sunday, May 31, 1998 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3435 N. 1st Avenue, (888-1111).

Otis H. 'Jack' Jarrett passed away at 4:15 a.m. on May 28, 1998in Tucson. He leaves his wife, Beryl of Tucson; a daughter and son-in-law, Gailand Conrad Ryer of Stanwood, WA; two granddaughters, Rebecca Ryer and Ariel Bowlin of Washington; stepdaughter, Jeanette LaCorte and stepson, Charles Horwitz, both of PA. Mr. Jarrett was born December 15, 1912 in Wynne, AR to Clara and Henry Jarrett. He is preceded in death by his younger brother, Harris Jarrett. He had lived in Arizona since 1970. He was employed by Federal Compress and Warehouse Co. until his retirement in 1978and had lived and worked in both Yuma and Picacho before moving to Tucson in 1978. He was a member of Canyon Del Oro Baptist Church. As a young man he enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, and maintained a love of nature all his life. Since his retirement he was a familiar figure at area swap meets. Service, Monday, 11:00 a.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY. Interment to follow Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile.
