Frank L. Williams, 24, was taken from us on February 19, 1998. His life was extinguished by those among us who steal what they should earn and who place no value on human life. A long time resident of Tucson, Frank was known for his humor, compassion, love of life and his willingness to help friends and strangers. The life of his fiancee', Farah Armstrong was also taken. Frank is survived by his beloved four year old son, Brenden Williams; mother, Julie Williams; sister, Tamara (Terry) Young; nephews, Brian Gray, T.J. Young; niece, Sandra Young; sister, Jeanette (Conan) Donnelly; grandmother, Hillery Hartzel and his life long friends, James and Crystal Rivenbark. He is also survived by his father, Bill Williams and grandmother, Alberta Williams of Wyoming. A celebration of his life will be held at Children's Memorial Park, 4851 N. 15th Ave, Friday, June 26 starting at 7:00 p.m. All who knew and loved him are welcome. DARTHARD, Willie Marie, 61, of Phoenix, AZ, died June 18, 1998. Member of the Apostalic Temple, Tucson, AZ. She is survived by two daughters, Gladys Horace and Lashundria Darthard; four sons, Michael Darthard, Kenneth Darthard, Anthony Darthard and Marvin Darthard; three sisters, Ira Mae Marks, Joyce Nell James and Ernestine Matchett; two brothers, Don Matchett and Jimmy Owens; 14 grandchildren also survive. Visitation will be held Friday, June 26, 1998, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Bethany Chapel, 710 W. Bethany Home Rd., Phoenix, AZ. Lawrence Scott Dennett

39, was taken from us suddenly on Sunday, June 21, 1998. He leaves behind his children, Shelby, Kyle and Joel; brothers, Steve (Vonda) and John Schmincke of Clarksville, MD; nephews, Brandon and Aaron and fiance, Coleen of CA and many friends in Phoenix and Tucson. Memorial Service, 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation.

DILLON, William Francis, 77, died June 16, 1998. Husband of Inez Dillon; father of Mary Evangeline Dillon and Robert (Charlene)Dillon; brother of Virginia Jane (Jack) Herman. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Dillon was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired Civil Service from Davis-Monthan and volunteered with many organizations. Memorial Service, 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 1998 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway with Dr. Mark Luera officiating. FEIGEL, Theran Dewitt, Jr. (Ted), 82, died in June 22, 1998 in Show Low, Arizona. Husband of Nadine of 20 years; father of Steven Feigel, Linda Clair and Laura Knox; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren also survive. He was a Navy Vet of WWII, an educator with the TUSD for 23 years and a resident of Arizona for 39 years. Memorial Service, 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 27 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway with Rev. James Lumsden officiating. Contributions in Theran's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 5325 E. Pima, T/A 85712.

FERNANDEZ, Hector G., 84, of Tucson, passed away June 23, 1998. Survived by daughter, Lisa Marie Seulke; sons, Edward (Carol) and Robert Fernandez; sister, Olga Newton. Also survived by three grandchildren. Memorial Service will beheld on Friday, June 26, 1998 at 3:00 p.m.at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, (Center Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave. Hector was a graduate of the University of Arizona in 1939. He worked for Mobil and retired from Bectel Corp. after 40 years of service. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

FREEMAN, James Delbert, of Marana, died June 21, 1998 at the VA Hospice in Tucson. He is survived by his wife, Betty of 36 years; five sons, James, Robert and Jeffry all of Tucson and Tom of Elmhurst, IL, Roy of Excello, MO; six daughters, Sieglinde of Germany, Sharon of New Providence, PA, Mary of Athens, TN, Lynn of Scottsdale, Darla of Wheatfield, IN and Nancy of North Lima, OH; 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. Other survivors are one brother, Robert of Shelbyville, TN and asister, Selma Emerson of Lawrenceville, TN, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy G. and Effie Mae Freeman and a brother, Franklin. Born December 2, 1922 in Ardmore, TN. Mr. Freeman enlisted in the Army in 1943, he served in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theaters receiving a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars. He served with UN Forces in the Korean War and received a Purple Heart with three Bronze Stars and numerous other commendations. He was a member of American Legion Post #36. His remains will be returned to Tennessee and services held at a later date. He was dearly loved by his wife and family and will be greatly missed.

GUNDERSON, Elizabeth J., 89 years old, died June 23, 1998, Tuesday, in Tucson. Born on August 16, 1908 in Dubuque, Iowa. Survived by children, James Gunderson and Marjorie Talmadge both of Tucson; twosisters, Cayle Sampson of Wisconsin, Florence Romine of Maryland; two brothers, Jack Gibson of California and Bill Gibson of Montana; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 881-0338.

HERTZ, Gertrude F., 89, of Tucson, died June 23, 1998. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for over 17 years, worked at Gump School for the handicapped for 10 years and was a member of the Pioneer Women at B'nai B'rith. Survived by two nieces, Cynthia Milberger of Berlin, Germany and Nancy Perry of Detroit, MI; nephews, William Alter of Farmingdale, NY and William Milberger of Singapore. Graveside Service Thursday, 10:30 a.m. Temple Emanu-El Section of Evergreen Cemetery with Rabbi Jeffrey Ronald officiating. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile.

HUFF, Helen Josephine, 81, of Mesa, AZ, died June 22, 1998 in Phoenix, AZ. Helen lived in Tucson from 1920-1993. She is survived by husband, Don Landon; daughters, Nancy Haller, Judy Kelley, Karen McKee; sister, Cynthia Myrle Dimmick; brother, Jay Huff; 15 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Visitation, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 1998 at Bunker's Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 1998 at Binghampton Cemetery, 4001 N. Alvernon, Tucson, AZ.

JAFFE, Jack Howard, age 81, of Tucson, AZ., passed away June 23, 1998. He is loved and survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Jonathan (Joanne); daughter, Jennifer; stepchildren, Ellen (Stephen Deutsch) Siever, Leslie (James) Miller and John (Connie) Siever; grandchildren, Jonathan Robert Jaffe, Michael Deutsch, Tyler Wagenseller and Richard and David Siever and many friends. Jack was born in Seattle, WA and spent his childhood in Anchorage, AK and Los Angeles, CA. He returned to Seattle where he attended college and law school at the University of Washington. He served as a Naval Officer in the Seattle area during WWII. After the war he moved to Chicago, IL where he practiced law for 30 years. He retired to Tucson, AZ in 1977.During his retirement he spent many happy years serving on the Board of Directors for the Tucson Symphony, the Citizen's Board of KUAT, the Advisory Board for the School of Music at the University of Arizona and attending classes at the University. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 26, 1998 at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. (at Magee). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tucson Symphony, 443 S. Stone Ave., Tucson, AZ 85701 or the University of Arizona School of Music.

KINZER, Fred W., 77, passed away June 23, 1998 in Tucson. Survived by his beloved wife, Carol; two sons, Tom (Teri) Kinzer and James (Deborah) Kinzer; one daughter, Sally (Alex) Droban; five grandchildren.No services are planned at Fred's request. MEES, Quentin Michael, Jr., passed away June 18, 1998. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Professor Quentin M. Mees and his mother, Doris Billingsley Mees. Mike was born in San Angelo, TX April 3, 1948 and was a longtime resident of Tucson. He graduated from Tucson High School in 1966 and the University of Arizona in 1970. Mike was a Senior Personnel Analyst at the University of Arizona prior to his disability. Mike leaves behind his family of friends, Tom Harrison, Therese Berg, George and Melania Sarnowski, Robert and Donna Sisley, Joe and Jeanne Salazar, Dan Easley and many others, including loving caretakers, Jeff and Linda Degner. Mike was an inspiration to all who knew or met him. His cheerful disposition, caring and sense of humor prevailed throughout his lengthy journey with M.S. Mike will be greatly missed and long remembered by those who lives he touched. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 1998 at 11:00 a.m. at the ARIZONA MORTUARY, University and Stone. Donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 626 N. Craycroft, Tucson, AZ 85711 or to the charity of your choice.

NEWMAN, E. Victoria 'Vickie' born October 6, 1910 and died June 22, 1998. Survived by two nieces, Peggy Booker and Ellen Browne and nephew, Brewster Allison. Vickie was a resident of Tucson for over 50 years. Graveside Services will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 26, 1998 at East Lawn Palms Cemetery with Fr. Keith Kreitner officiating. OLLERTON, Phyllis M., 70, born November 28, 1927 in Oxnard, California, died June20, 1998 in Casa Grande, Arizona. Phyllis arrived in Casa Grande in 1954. A graduate of Arizona State College (ASU) in 1952 with a Degree in Education. She enjoyed hiking, dove hunting, fishing and outdoor activities. For nine years, she served as coordinator of the Red Cross Blood Mobile in Casa Grande, and served as a volunteer for the Pinal County Republican Party. She was a member of the Casa Grande Epsilon-Sigma Alpha Sorority for 19 years. She was president of the sorority in 1969 and 1979. In 1980 she received the ESA Woman of the Year Award. She enjoyed the sport of golf and played with the Casa Grande Swingers Golf Association. She is survived by her husband Paul A. Ollerton of Casa Grande, AZ; son, Paul 'Paco' Ollerton of Casa Grande, AZ; sister, Patty Braget of Oxnard, CA; three grandchildren also survive. Memorial Services, 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 1998 at Simes Mortuaries, Casa Grande Chapel, 1575 E. Florence Blvd., Casa Grande, AZ, with Larry Baker officiating. Helen J. Rodgers Phipps, daughter of Tully and Ethel Jones, both now deceased, was born in Los Angeles, California on August 5, 1916. She lived in Tucson 80 years and retired from Southern Pacific Railroad as a secretary in 1976. She has many, many friends and co-workers in Tucson and enjoyed everyone of them. Helen passed away June 22, 1998. She leaves her sister, Marvelle J. (Ralph) Currier and nephews, Vic, Ken and Paul Currier. At her request no services will be held. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

REED, Amanda B., age 7, of Tucson, died June 23, 1998. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway), June 26, 1998 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. with a Prayer Service at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Services will be at Holy Hope Cemetery, Friday, June 26, 1998, 11:30 a.m. Arrangements by family owned ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. WALDMAN, William 'Bill' 81, beloved father and grandfather passed away June 23, 1998 in Tucson. The son of Anna and Hayim Waldman, he grew up in Philadelphia and in 1948 founded Waldman Beauty Supplies in Norristown, Pennsylvania where he was an active member of the civic and Jewish communities. His wife Florence Waldman preceded him in death. Bill is survived by two daughters, Donna Waldman (Michael Paz) of Sebastopol, CA and Carol Karsch (Dr. Daniel) of Tucson. He leaves four grandchildren, Elianna Alverez of Sebastopol, Mordy Karsch (Mayra) of Los Angeles, Hannah Karsch Hochner (Jacky) of Jerusalem, Benjamin Karsch (Liat) of Ramat Poleg, Israel and a great-granddaughter, Tanya Shulamit Hochner of Jerusalem. Burial will take place in Philadelphia. Contributions may be made to the Bill and Florence Waldman Youth Fund at the Jewish Community Foundation of Southern Arizona. Local arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY.

Edgar A. Wald, 83, died June 20, 1998 after a sudden illness at his summer home in Minnesota. He is survived by wife, Marian; daughters, Christine (David) Wald-Hopkins and Betty (Ron) Allen of Tucson and Peggy (Jeff) Waller of Denver; grandchildren, Sarah, Mark and Alice Wald-Hopkins; David Thweatt (Tanya Shevchenko), Kristen (Charles) Miller, Jesse Allen, Christy and Eric Waller; stepchildren, Joel and Jenna Allen; and great-granddaughter, Madeleine Miller. He is also survived by sister, Norma Casey and brother, Eugene (Esther) Wald and numerous nieces and nephews. Born October 26, 1914 in Saskatchewan, Canada to Dr. O.E. and Mary Charlotte Wald, he immigrated to the US in 1921, grew up in Los Angeles, and graduated from UCLA. Before the outbreak of World War II, he joined the Army Air Corps, and he taught civilian and Air Force flying in Texas, California and Marana until the end of the Korean Conflict. When Marana Air Base closed, he earned an MEd from USC, and then taught science in TUSD for 18 years, retiring in 1977. Ed was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where he served as Sunday School teacher, baritone in the choir, Deacon, Elder, and Clerk of Session, he belonged to the Southern Arizona Hiking club, the CBMC, Marana Pilots' Association, and the Inventors' Society. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, quirky inventiveness, abiding faith and his love of the outdoors, fine music and family. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 27, 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 400 E. University. Donations may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church or a charity of choice.

YANCEY, Antonio Angel, died June 23, 1998. Beloved infant of Tommy and Graciela Yancey, Jr. and grandparents, Tom Yancy, Lucia Sidoma, Inez Villa and Jerry Camacho. Services and interment will be private. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

YUCHNEVICZ, Frank Peter, 81, of Tucson, formerly of Harvard, MA, died June 22, 1998. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Helen Ruth Yuchnevicz; daughter, Karen (Dennis) Dismachek of Scotts Valley, CA; sister, Mary Starkey of Albuquerque, NM; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Mr. Yuchnevicz, who was a long time employee of the Raytheon company retired in 1980. Memorial Service, Friday, 3:00 p.m.EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle& W. Miracle Mile.
