HALE, Anna W., noted author, died June 20, 1998 at St. Mary's Hospice in Tucson. Anna W. Hale's Memorial Celebration is on Thursday, July 2, 1998 at 3:30 p.m. at Grace Community Covenant Church, 9755 N. La Cholla Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85742. Please join us.
Anna was born March 3, 1909 in New York City. She grew up on the family farm near Princeton, NJ, and received her life passion for history, patriotism, and justice from its walls. The Hale-Clarke farm sheltered General Mercer's fatal wounds during George Washington's Christmas victory at Princeton, 1777. The old farm house also had a secret room behind the chimney which was a safe 'station' on the underground 'Railroad' for escaping slaves until 1865.
The nine intervening decades were full of adventures on three continents including work with families and schools, publishing three books, and drafting five more whose publication was sadly interrupted in 1995 by Anna's sudden blindness.
She is survived by ten nephews, their families, many godchildren, a worldwide network of proteges and the members of Grace Community Church, and Christ Presbyterian Church (Edina, MN). God was her strength and her joy.
In lieu of flowers all of us heartily request that contributions be made to Grace Community Church whose pastor and members were even closer to Anna than family. That church's birth and growth coincides with Anna's ten Tucson years. She joyfully gave her wisdom, time, and treasure to nourish its buildings and its life. Anna also thought of her alma mater, Wells College, Aurora, NY, class of 1930.
After all the work, struggle, and achievements, it shall now be said 'Anna, you have fought the good fight. Come Home, rest, and enjoy new adventures with new sight in glory. Your smile and faith formed a bridge across which many came Home. Well done, thou good and faithful daughter. Enter into your reward.' Arrangements by family owned ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave at Magee.

The closure of his time here will be a party at the Valley Mart. Butch believed that when the earth shall claim your limbs you shall truly dance. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W.
