WESTLUND, Derek Kim Westlund, died Monday morning August 10, 1998. He was born on March 13, 1969 in Nehna, WI. He and his family moved to Moorestown, New Jersey where Derek graduated high school. For several years, Derek has been living here in Tucson. Many of us have blessed by his life and love. I and so many am forever better for knowing him. We are having a ceremony/celebration of Derek's life Saturday, August 15, 1998 at a friends home near Phoenix. Derek ashes will be buried on their land. There will be maps with directions posted at the Casbah and the food cooperative, both on N. 4th Avenue.
Another Ceremony is being held here in Tucson at the Zenith Center, Saturday, August 21, 1998. To confirm, look for notice at the Casbah and the Food Coop.

YSLAS, Augustine S., 64, of Tucson, passed away August 9, 1998. Survived by son, Augustine; sisters, Ysabel (Rafael) Miranda and Emma (Mike) Perez; aunt, Julia Velez. Also survived by one grandchild, three nephews and one niece. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 1998 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Monday, August 17, 1998, 9:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church, 1220 S. 6th Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. BINI, Bino, 91, of Tucson, AZ, died August 11, 1998. He is survived by loving wife, Ida Bini; nephew, Anthony Unruh, Cosmo and Anna Ali and family, Assunta and her late husband, Damiano Ali andfamily, and Gabriele and Pompea Barillari. He was a longtime resident of Tucson and well known and respected by the community and was known to many as uncle Bino and will be dearly missed by all. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 1998 with Evening Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Odilia Catholic Church, 7570 N. Carol M. Dalton, 76, of Tucson, died August 13, 1998. Preceded in death by husband, Martin F. Dalton (1978). Survived by sons, Martin R. (Jacque) Dalton of Gilbert, Donald M.(Eileen) Dalton of Tucson; daughters, Sharon (Jim) Collins and Deborah (Doug) Swanson of Tucson; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Joseph M. Deaton passed away August 13, 1998 from complications of Parkinson's and pneumonia. Survived by wife, Agnes and three daughters, Geraldine Brogan of Edmonds, WA, Katherine Delong and Linda Porter of Tucson, AZ; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. LANE, William George, passed away Wednesday August 12, 1998. He was born October 5, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Elouise Lane. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Lane, his beloved daughter Michelle Lane, his brothers Peter, Thomas and Patrick Lane of Tucson and sister Suzanne Landy of Phoenix. He was a practicing attorney since 1971. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 22, 1998 at 11:00 AM at The Mountain Avenue Church of Christ, 2848 N. Mountain Ave. All arrangements are being handled by HUDGEL'S SWAN FUNERAL HOME.

MEDINA, Rumaldo M., 80, of Tucson, went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 13, 1998. Rumaldo was preceded in death by his wife, Angelina and son-in-law, Edward Garnier. Mr. Medina is survived by his wife, Lorena; children, Rose (Miguel), Joe (Isabel) and Manuel (Lydia) and Stephanie and Alejandro; grandchildren, Estrella, Luis, Julio, Adrianna and Joseph; great-grandchildren, Erika and Giovanni and numerous brothers and sisters. Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 17, 1998 at Lady of All Saints Catholic Church, 2915 E. 36th Street with burial to follow at South Lawn Cemetery. OLM, Dorothy F., 78, of Tucson, passed away August 13, 1998. Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Ray; children, John (Judy) Olm, Janet (Jerry) Bergmans, Judy (Fred) Graff, Jean Butler (Joe Hopkins); grandchildren, John Jr., Joy, Shaun, Shannon, Stephanie and Austine, Jennifer and Justine; six great-grandchildren one sister, Marjorie Dilling and one brother, Harold Anderson. PEDERSEN, Mary Louise, 81, of Tucson, AZ, died August 13, 1998. She was born in Chicago, IL on May 28, 1917. She was a devoted wife to her two sailors, her first husband, Stanley A. Hiscox and her second husband, Axel H. Pedersen. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and is survived by her son, Hugh D. Hiscox; her daughter-in-law, Rosita A. Hiscox; her two granddaughters, Julie L. Hiscox and Heather L. Hiscox; aunt Lois Gurney. A Memorial Service will be held at the Highland's Clubhouse in Tucson, AZ on Saturday, August 15, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to: Phoenix Chapter, Alzheimer's Association, 1028 E. RANDOLPH, Billy Joe, 63, of Tucson, died Thursday, August 13, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Teresa; children, Linda Smariga, Mike Randolph, DeeAnna (Duane) Robins, Katy (Chuck) Wagner, David Randolph; mother, Bonnie Nite; brother, Ray Randolph; and four grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 1998 at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant Rd. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 1998 at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 1800 S. Kolb Rd. Interment will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. SWISHER, Donald R., 70, died peacefully in his sleep, August 5, 1998. He is survived by wife, Dolores 'Dee'; son, David; grandson, Parker. Predeceased by son, James in 1983. Don served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from U.S. West in 1983 after 36 years of service. Graveside Service Monday, August 17, 10:00 a.m. Evergreen Cemetery. Ricardo G. Villaman, 32, died August 12, 1998. Son of Fernando Villaman; brother of Freddie (Bobbie) Villaman, Jr., Norma Olivas, Linda (Phillip) Dominguez and Sabrina and Luis; grandson of Magdaleno Villaman; six nieces and nephews and aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Preceded in death by mother, Alicia Villaman and grandmother, Guadalupe Villaman. Mass will be offered 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 17 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Rd. Friends may visit from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m.

DUTTON, Sidney A. 'Sid', 73, of Tucson, died Saturday, August 15, 1998. Survived by wife, Mary; children, Nina (Bob) Dixon and David Dutton, all of Tucson; Gene (Wes) Warren of ID; nine grandchildren, Lori-Ann, Chris, Mason, Mary Ann, Morgan and Eric Dixon, Marianne, Weldon and Philip Warren; brother, Carl (Dorothy) Dutton of Tucson. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Preceded in death by grandson, Ben Dixon. Sid was a high school chemistry teacher in Anchorage, AK. He loved music, played the guitar, sang and composed music. He was a veteran of WWII, serving as a Marine in the Pacific Area. Graveside Service 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 19, 1998 at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.

O'KEEFE, Raphael D., 94, of Tucson, died Saturday, August 15, 1998. Survived by daughter, Margaret Senick of Tucson; son, Lawrence (Louise) O'Keefe of Warren, MI; two local grandchildren, Juliann (Rick) Pierson and Mark (DeeAnn) Senick; four grandchildren in MI; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Jaeggi of St. Louis Park, MN; brother-in-law, John (Mildred) Ramsey of Tucson. Mr. O'Keefe was a retired Federal Employee. Cryptside Service 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 19 at East Lawn Palms Mausoleum. RUTH, Charles R., 64, of Tucson, died August 15, 1998. He is survived by wife, Iva Ruth of Tucson; his mother, Gladys Ruth of Bladensburg, MD; his daughter, Linda Dawson of Hyattsville, MD; his son, Michael Ruth of Tucson; and two stepchildren, Edward Coffey and Dawn McGrew, both of Tucson; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. Memorial Service 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 1998 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, with Dr. Wayne North officiating, and military honors by Davis-Monthan Air Force Base Elite Honor Guard. An additional Service will be held in Maryland in September. In lieu of flowers donations in Charles' memory may be made to the I.C.U. unit at St. Joseph's Hospital, 350 N. Wilmot Rd., Tucson, AZ 85711.

Linda Jane (Lyn) Underwood - Beautiful, vivacious daughter of Col. and Mrs. William Underwood of Tucson, passed away August 12, 1998 in Flagstaff. Born June 10, 1954 in Landstuhl Army Hospital, Germany. Lyn moved with her parents through many different military assignments and as many schools until graduating with distinction from Arizona State University in 1975. She was the valedictorian of her high school class and leader of her high school drill team, which was chosen to help dedicate the opening of Cincinnati's Riverfront Stadium. After college she became an executive with State Farm Insurance Co. She is survived by her beloved son, Bill Blegen; her parents; her brother, Bill Jr.; her sister-in-law, Cindy; and many friends and caring co-workers. A Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 18, 1998 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, and a Funeral Service Wednesday, August 19, 1998 at 12:00 p.m. at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base Chapel #1 with Chaplain Lt. Col. Gordon Snyder officiating. Interment to follow at T.M.P. East Lawn.

BROWN, B.J. 'Buster' 77, of Tucson, passed away August 16, 1998. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Suzanne Amado; sons, John and Jim Brown; mother, Eva Mortensen and brother, Tanner Brown; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 1998 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Avenue at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 18, 1998 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.

BROWNE, William John, passed away August 15, 1998. He was born in Flint, Michigan on September 11, 1928. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, David, Dan, Scott and Paul of Tucson and a daughter, Tricia Miller of Santa Clarita, CA; eight grandchildren and a sister, Barbara Doerr of Michigan. Mr. Browne came to Tucson in 1956 as advertising manager for Steinfeld's Department Store, later moving to Levy's and later to Babbitts Department Store of Flagstaff. He was a past president of the Tucson Advertising Club. Memorial Mass 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 1998 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Bring's Memorial Chapel, 236 S. Scott.

CANNON, Raymond L., 81 years old, died Saturday, August 15, 1998 in Tucson. Born on June 4, 1917 in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico. Survived by his children, Norma Thomas of Los Gatos, CA, Cecilia Ortizof Tucson, David Cannon of Miami, AZ, Linda Cannon and Patricia Cannon both of Tucson, AZ; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, August 20, 1998 at Living Word Chapel, Highway 89 in Oracle at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Oracle Cemetery. Arrangements by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 881-0338.

Doris O. Crane - The beloved wife of Colonel Russell D. Crane, USAF (Retired), passed away August 12, 1998 peacefully with her immediate family present to comfort her. Doris was a wife, homemaker, grandmother and great-grandmother. Doris is survived by her husband, Russell of Tucson; her sons, Barry (Cheryl) of Burke, VA and Jeffrey (Sheryl) of Mt. Pleasant, IA. She is also survived by her grandsons, Bradford of Burke, VA and Barrett (Robbin) and great-grandson, (Alexander) of Loveland, CO. Her immediate family held a memorial service for her on August 14, 1998 at the chapel at Davis-Monthan AFB, where her life was fondly remembered by displaying her beautiful needlework and ceramics. Doris was born near Thornburg, Iowa on August 28, 1918, attended high school in What Chester, IA and gradated from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1939. She married Russell Crane and followed him to Ft. Worth, Texas during World War II. Doris went to Wiesbaden, Germany, after WWII with her husband as a part of the occupying forces. Returning to the United States in 1949 with her husband and son, Barry, Doris lived in Crystal Lakes, Ohio where her second son, Jeffrey was born, Falls Church, VA and Hickam AFB, Hawaii. After returning from Hawaii, Doris and her family lived in Winter Park, FL, Scott AFB, IL, McChord AFB, WA and Naha Air Base, Okinawa. She and Russell retired in Tucson in late 1971 where she has lived since. Doris was a sponsor of students at the University of Arizona and the Zeta Tau Alpha women's fraternity and a member of the Skyline Women's Club. She leaves behind a multitude of friends from all walks of life. Donations in Doris' memory may be made to Carondelet Hospice, 350 N. Wilmot Rd., Tucson, AZ 85711.

Ernesto De Soto died in Tucson on Saturday, August 15, 1998, born October 30, 1946. He is survived by his wife, Zada Edgar-Soto and their two children, Rene and Sabrina; his father, Roderico Soto-Sanchez of Nacozari, Sonora and the following brother and sisters, Carlos Soto-Felix (Aurora), Hector Soto-Felix, Laura Felix de Juvera (Victor) and Monica Soto L. of Hermosillo and Esthela Soto-Felix, Roderico Soto-Felix (Marina) of Nacozari, Luis Soto (Marcia) of Los Angeles and Renata Soto L. of Mexico City. He practiced law in Tucson for 16 years, focusing on international commercial transactions. He was active within the American Bar Association where he served as Chairman of the Mexican Law Committee of the Section of International Law and Practice, as the International Law Section's Development Officer and Co-Chaired the International Practice Management Task Force and on the International Contracts negotiations Task Force of Law Practice Management Section, with the Arizona State Bar where he served as Chairman of the Section of the International Law Section and was an invited speaker on international business negotiations and numerous conferences. In 1994 he was given the 'Outstanding Alumnus' award by the College of Law, University of Arizona. Rosary and prayers was said for him on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. at St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church and his friends and family are invited to his memorial service which will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church.

HOFFMAN, Hillary Angela, age 28, a native of Scottsdale, AZ, died Friday, August 14, 1998 in San Francisco, CA. She was a graduate of Salpointe High School in Tucson, attended the University of Arizona and graduated from Marylhurst University in Marylhurst, OR. Miss Hoffman was preceded in death by her father, Al Hoffman. She is survived by her mother, Raquel Hoffman; sister, Laurie Rugg; brothers, Phillip Hoffman and Brian (Stacey) Hoffman; her grandmother, Amalia Lineiro; nieces and nephews, Krystal, Nicole, Terrance and Amber Rugg and Ann Asbury; boyfriend, Victor Gonzales and her chocolate lab, Toby and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Visitation Tuesday, August 18, 1998 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway). Funeral Mass Wednesday, August 19, 1998, 10:00 a.m. at Newman Catholic Center, 1615 E. 2nd St. Family suggest memorial contributions to Casa de los Ninos, 1101 N. 4th Ave. Tucson, AZ 85715.

LAMPHERE, Chester Ray 'Chet' passed away August 17, 1998. Survived by three sons, Timothy Ray Lamphere, Thomas Clare Lamphere and Troy Clark Lamphere; seven grandchildren and friends and family of Evelyn Cassidy. Memorial Service will be Wednesday, August 19, 1998 10:30 a.m. St. James Methodist Church, 3255 N. Campbell.
