JOHNSON, Emery Crawford, died September 9, 1998. Emery was born in Globe, AZ, October 3, 1908, the only son of Peter Emery Johnson and Nona Crawford. Emery's grandmother, Cordelia Crawford was the first member of the Arizona Woman's Hall of Fame and her husband, Bushrod Foley Crawford, was a pioneer rancher in the Tonto Basin. Emery was a graduate of the University of Arizona in 1930, a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, the U of A basketball team, and most of the honorary organizations. He married his beloved Ann-Eve Mansfeld in 1932, and went on to become a petroleum distributor with his own company, a partner on a local bus line and a successful investor. Emery and Ann-Eve were popular members of the Tucson social, cultural and a philanthropic scene for many years. Emery was a member of the Board of Directors of the Arizona Children's Home, and was founding member of the University of Arizona Foundation and the University of Arizona President's Club. Emery is predeceased by Ann-Eve, and will be missed by his daughter, Janna-Neen Cunningham; son, Peter Johnson; daughter-in-law, Ann Johnson and longtime friend, Mary Margaret Raymond. He is survived by granddaughters, Ann-Eve Cunningham, Elizabeth Johnson-Sarmiento, Ruth Johnson, Anna Johnson, Anissa Brown and grandson, Scott Geauner; cousins, Pat and Henry Johnson of Phoenix, Bennetta and Charles Abraham of Phoenix; niece, Anita Scales of Greenwich, CT; nephew, Alexander Williamson of Atlanta, GA and grandnieces, Elena and Wendy Williamson; grandnephews, Stephen and Derek Williamson. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church, 4440 N. Campbell Ave, September 17, 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to St. Philip's in the Hills Endowment. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY.

RICE, Marjorie. Born February 14, 1929 in Graysville, IN. Passed on September 5, 1998. THOMPSON, Gerald 'Gerry', Lt. Col. USAF Ret., 62, of Tucson, died September 9, 1998. He was a life member of the NRA and a member of Faith Community Church. He is survived by wife, Carolyn Thompson of Tucson; children, Robert Thompson of Houston, TX, Sabrina Fezzell of La Mesa, CA, Todd Thompson of San Dimas, CA, Richard James of Phelan, CA, Janna DeNeen of Huntington Beach, CA; sister, Joyce Tassey of Orlando, FL; and eight grandchildren. CARTER, Blanche (Amado, Blanca), 79, died on September 12, 1998. She was a devoted wife for 52 1/2 years, a wonderful mother and friend to all who knew her. May her strength give us all strength. Survived by husband, Lloyd R. ERICKSON, Allan Wayne, 62, Born July 12, 1936, died tragically on September 7, 1998 in the Philippines where he was working as a Construction Manager. He is survived by his loving wife, Midge; his beloved son, Todd; his brother, Neil (Laura) Erickson, all of Tucson; nieces, Bonnie (Chip) Gates of Tucson and Monie Begeman of Madison, South Dakota and nephew, Paul (Marivel) Erickson of Yuma, AZ and numerous other family and friends. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Funeral Service, 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 15 at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church, 710 S. Kolb Rd. with Pastor Craig Michaelson officiating. MICHAEL RAY JACOBSON, 38, of Tucson, died September 11, 1998. Survived by his mother, Donna Jacobson Cormier; stepfather, Richard Cormier; grandmother, Esther Jacobson and brothers, Lou and David all of Tucson and numerous relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his father, Gary and brother, Bret. Michael was born October 12, 1959 in Canton, Ohio. He grew up in Tucson being employed in various capacities by Saquenda Corp., Safeway and Fry's. Michael's love was flying, he flew the skies of Arizona, until declining health grounded him. MEYER, Dennis Paul, 51, went to be with the Lord September 11, 1998. Survived by wife, Elizabeth; children, Joshua, Adam and Sarah Meyer; parents, Samuel and Ruth Meyer; brothers, Samuel (Kathy) Meyer and Timothy Meyer; sister, Deborah (Ted) Russell; mother-in-law, Ruth Stern and brother-in-law, Craig Stern. Also survived by loving niece, Dora L. Vidal (Richard 'Deter' A.) and many other nieces, nephews, great and great-grandnieces and nephews. SIERRA, Angelita T., 72, of Tucson, passed away on Friday, September 11, 1998. Mrs. Sierra is survived by her loving husband, Mike, of 50 years. Angelita leaves behind three sons, Michael, Frank, and Joseph Sierra; four daughters, Cecilia (Frank) Felix, Mary Alice Sierra, Deborah A. DON, Franklin, Jr., 48, of Tucson, AZ, was born December 11, 1949 in Casa Grande, AZ, died September 11, 1998 in Florence, AZ. A 1967 graduate of Casa Grande Union High School and a 1976 graduate of the University of Arizona Law School. He practiced private law in the Casa Grande and Tucson area for the past 22 years. Recently began practicing at the Pinal County public defenders office. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Very active in the Big Brother/Big Sister Organization in Pima County. Franklin was a member of the American Bar Association, Arizona State Bar Association, Pinal County Bar Association, Pima County Bar Association, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Old Pueblo Bass Fishing Club, Tucson. He is survived by mother, Ethel Don of Casa Grande, AZ; father Franklin Don, Sr. of Casa Grande, AZ; brothers, Perry Don of Gurnee, IL, Kenton Don of Redmond, WA. ENDSLEY, Keith E., 72, died Sunday, September 13, 1998 after a brief illness.A native of West Branch, Iowa, Keith had lived in Tucson for 60 years. Keith was a former employee of the Marshall Foundation and had many friends and acquaintances in he University Square area. Memorial contributions should be made to a charity of your choice or The Hermitage Cat Shelter. Services and burial pending in Iowa.

FINE, Douglas William, 36, died September 2, 1998, leaving his beloved wife, Tammy and eight-month-old son, Nicholas of Freemont, CA; as well as his parents, Morris and Beverly Fine of Tucson; grandmothers, Molly Fine and Mary Bronstein both of West Palm Beach, FL; and his brothers, Joel (Vi) and Andrew (Thea), both of whom live in CA. The 'Nicholas Fine Trust Fund' has been established care of Cindy Burgdorf, SanDisk Corp., 140 Caspian Ct. Sunnyvale, CA, 94089. A Memorial Service was held in California. The family will be at home in Tucson to receive friends on Thursday, September 17 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m.

KAGAN, Dorothy, 92, of Tucson, died Sunday, September 13, 1998. Preceded in death by her loving, husband, Julius, she is survived by her daughter, Eileen (Dr. M. Lee) Starr; granddaughters, Marianne Starr and Lisa (Kevin) Starr-Burns all of Tucson. Dorothy was born in Chicago but has lived in Tucson for the past 30 years. She was an active member of the Sisterhood and Hadassah at Congregation Anshei Israel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Starr-Kagan Scholarship Fund, 1010 E. 10th St. Tucson, AZ 85719. McSULLA, Gottfried 'Guffy', born June 2, 1926, passed away September 13, 1998, 9:00 a.m. at El Dorado Hospital at age 72. Beloved husband of Martha Louise, formally of New Jersey; father of Anthony D'Amiano; grandfather of Anthony and Vincent D'Amiano of New Jersey and uncle of Susan Lamberti. He served in WWII with the U.S. Marine Corps and is a member of VFW Post 2433. He is a member of Binghampton Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Graveside services and interment will be held at the LDS Cemetery on N. Alvernon at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, 1998. He was loved dearly and will be missed greatly. Family and friends are welcome to services and refreshments will be served after the service at Binghampton Ward Building, 3700 E. Ft. Lowell. Mary Mayme (nee Shaltz) Pelland was born to eternal life on September 12, 1998 on her 97th birthday at El Dorado hospital, Tucson, Arizona. She was born at Calumet, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, September 12, 1901 to Slovenian-Croatian immigrants, Matt Shaltz and Catherine Grahek. She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Matthew and Martin; husband, Joseph; daughter-in-law, Charlotte and grandson, Timothy; stepbrother, Joseph Simonich. She is survived by her two sons, Martin and Joseph (wife Janet) all of Tucson, as well as grandson, Joseph and wife, Caren of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Further survived by stepsisters, Margaret Simonich Fitzgerald and Alice Simonich Bylkas. With the advent of WW II in the 1940's, the family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The V.A. hospital at Woods, Wisconsin employed her for 21 years. Upon her retirement she moved to Tucson in 1960 to live with her son, Martin, until the time of her death. Her precious observations of life through four generations were priceless and have been recorded. Her life was one of sacrifice-taking care of her parents, her family, and the 'boys' of WW II at the V.A. hospital, some of whom were from Lake Linden. She was truly a great lady and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Funeral arrangements will be made by the Pearce Funeral Home, Lake Linden, Michigan. Interment will be in the family plot at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet, Michigan about a mile from where she was born. The family suggests donations/memorials in Tucson to St. Melany's Byzantine Church and in Michigan's Copper Country to 'Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly', 914 Royce Road, Hancock, MI 49930.

ROTHROCK, Joan L., died September 11, 1998 after a brave battle against cancer. Joan was born on August 22, 1914 in Lynn, Massachusetts. She spent her early years in New York, New Jersey and Poland. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 1936 and then taught elementary school in Coolidge and Miami, Arizona and also at Roskrudge Elementary School, in Tucson. She married Glenn E. Rothrock on July 1, 1942 and was married for 52 years before his death in 1994. Joan was a longtime member of AAUW and Pi Lambda Theta. Joan was a great collector and a devoted mother. Survived by her children: son, Barry G. and daughter-in-law, Bunny; son, Robert S. and daughter-in-law, Sammie; and daughter, Lellani M. all of Tucson. Also surviving her are grandchildren, Erik A. of Flagstaff, Todd M. (Chello Chavez) of Tucson, Leah Rothrock Claypool (Michael Claypool) and Trevor M. all of Flagstaff. Also surviving her is one great-grandchild, Emma L. Claypool. In addition, surviving her are her sisters, Vera Minnick of Portland, Oregon andWanda Washington of Ephrata, Washington. A memorial service for our mother will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 1998 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 824 N. Second Ave. in Tucson. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Nature Conservancy, Arizona Chapter, 300 E.University Blvd., Suite #230, Tucson, AZ 85705 or a charity of your choice. WILSON, William C., 71, of Tucson, completed his earthly journey September 11, 1998. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII, a retired supervisor in the copper industry and a 40-year Tucsonan. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Myrtle (Lowe) Wilson, he is survived by his loving wife, Therese; daughter, Catherine 'Cassie' (Tony) Campa; sons, Jerry Dale (Carol) and Harry Eugene (Nancy); sisters, Marie (Bee) Boggs, Janice (Jimmy) Spraggins, Joyce (Mac) Smith, Hazel Simmons; brother, Elbert (Carol) Wilson; and four grandchildren. The celebration of his life will begin 1:45 p.m., Tuesday at Our Lady of the Desert Mausoleum, 2151 S. Avenida Los Reyes (3 streets East of Houghton Rd., 1/2 mile South of 22nd St.), Fr. ARDREY, Cameron W., age 35, passed away September 13, 1998. Born August 31, 1963 in Hannibal, Missouri. Survived by by his loving wife, Debbie; two daughters, Nicole and Katie; mother, Velda Kuykendall (Clark Leckington); stepfather, John Kuykendall; sister, Teresa Ardrey; brothers-in-law, Eric Fisher, Dan and Steve Franta; mother-in-law, Dorothy Franta; father-in-law, Stan Franta. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 1998 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Evening Service at 7:00 p.m. 'Cam will be missed by all who knew him and everyone he touched with his practical jokes and readiness to help in any situation. BAGGS, Cloyce L., 83, passed away September 13, 1998. survived by sons, Nelson Baggs of Tucson and Dr. Gary Baggs and his wife, Jeannette of Lexington, VA; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Baggs retired from American Airlines in 1978 after 33 years. Private services were held. Arrangements by HUDGEL'S SWAN FUNERAL HOME.

BORQUEZ, Frausto, 52, of Tucson, passed away September 15, 1998. Preceded in death by parents, Francisco and Josefina Borquez; sister, Eva Tena. Survived by wife, Alicia Borquez; sons, Frausto Jr. (Melissa) and Martin Rene (Bobbie); sisters, Grace, Vickie and Leti; brothers, Frankie, Efrain, Hector, Joey and Gilbert. Also survived by three grandchildren, Vanessa, Lynette and Austin Jacob Borquez. Frausto will be missed by all relatives and friends. CAPIN, Zellie, age 84, died Tuesday, September 15, 1998. He is survived by two daughters, Linda Gross of Oakland, California and Lois Esformes of Los Angeles, California. Also surviving are five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Capin was one of the principles of Capin Mercantile in southern Arizona. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 1998 at Adair's Carroon Funeral Home, 1191 N. Grand Ave., Nogales, AZ with Rabbi Stephanie Aaron officiating. Burial will follow in Temple Emanu-El Cemetery in Nogales. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any of the following three organizations, HABBJAC, the Arizona Cancer Center at the University of AZ, or to the Jewish Family and Children Services. Arrangements by family owned ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd.(at Speedway) in Tucson.
