ARCE, Richard Jesus, 68, died August 24, 1999. Loved one of Nancy Forst Arce, Stephanie Arce of San Diego, CA, Richard (Sheila) Arce of Las Cruces, N.M., Victoria Arce of Tucson, Steven (Ronda) Arce of Spokane, WA, Gregory Schultz of Tucson, Ronald Arce of Tucson and William Arce of Tucson; 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild to be; brother of David (Pat) Arce of Welches, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Thelma Arce and his sister, Ilene Arce Roberson. Mr. Arce was Retired Master Sergeant with the US Air Force, Veteran of Korea and Vietnam. He enjoyed working with mentally disabled adults. He also retired from Gates Lear Jet and was active with his grandchildren and had a zest for life, family and friends. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, 1999 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Mass will be offered 9:30 a.m., Thursday, August 26, 1999 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Rd. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, 1999 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be made to Carondelet Hospice, 1802 W. St. Mary's Rd., T.A. 85745.

BABBITT, Helen Z., 83 years old, died August 18, 1999 in Tucson after a long illness. Born on June 14, 1916 in Paris, Texas, and educated at the University of California (Berkeley). Predeceased by her husbands, Russell LeRoy Young and Earl J. Babbitt. Survived by her children, Jon R. (Karen) Young of Tucson, Jerilyn Brown of San Diego, CA, Jennifer (Harry) Marx of Ariel, WA and Jodelle Young of Agoura Hills, CA and her grandchildren, Charlana, Jesse, Samantha, Alexis, Tanya and Torri. Helen was a remarkable lady, actively employed by the Los Angeles Community College and dancing competitively up until the onset of her illness in February. Her strengths will remain an example for all of her family and those who knew her. She had a happy and fulfilling life and will be missed by us all. A memorial service will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA in September. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

Survived by his parents, NailRay Bledsoe, Sr. of Tucson and Leah Hobson of North Ridgeville, OH; grand-parents, Robert Logan and Mae Bell Bledsoe, Jean Jordan, George Wheeler (Theresa Lodde), all of Tucson; sisters, Crystal Lynn Bledsoe of Tucson, Rachel Hobson of North Ridgeville, OH and Mosadi Hobson of Philadelphia, PA; uncles, aunts, and a host of relatives and friends. Wife of Cecilio Chavez; mother of Cecilio Gerardo Chavez, Gabriel Craig Chavez and August DeAnda Chavez; grandmother of Christopher Gabriel Chavez and Erica Lorraine Chavez; sister of Martha Bustamante, Angie Brown, Delores Marin, Vivian Chavez, Mary Ann Almanza, Luis DeAnda, George DeAnda and Marcelo DeAnda; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. HEISLER, Leo, of Tucson, died August 23, 1999. Survived by his wife, Esther Heisler of Tucson; sons, Edward Heisler of Philadelphia, PA, Michael Heisler of Tucson; grandchildren, Sarah, Jeff and Laura Heisler all of Tucson. Remembrances may be made to Tucson Hebrew Academy Library Fund. Services were held Tuesday, August 24, 1999 at 2:00 p.m., with Rabbi Israel Becker officiating. Interment Congregation Chofetz Chayim Section Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & cemetery, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile.

HUDSON, Warren E., 96 years old, entered eternal life on August 24, 1999. Survived by his wife of 68 years, Olive Hudson; three sons, Warren, Robert, and Don; sister, Rita; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday, August 26, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco, with burial to follow at Holy Hope cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, 881-0338. Warren is a retired Railroad Engineer and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is loved very much and will be missed by all.

GEE NEY LEM, Known by many as Henry Gee, passed away on August 19, 1999 at age 86. Born in Toi Son, China, arrived into Tucson in the year 1921 at the young age of 8. A local grocery business man for over 45 years (Del Monte Market) was also past president of the Tucson Chinese Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Tucson Gee Association, and an active member of the Ying-On Association. He was also an award winning participant of the Southern Arizona Koi Association and member of the Tucson Bonsai Club. Henry was a WWII Veteran.
Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Ng Tin Chi-'Rose'; children: Gar Teong (Pui Chun) Gee, Mrs. Edward Lee, Lillian (Ray) Yu, Diana (Danny) Vargas, Norma (Art) Castro, Jeff, Kenneth, and Sandra; 17 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and his younger sister, Kong Yut Qui. Visitation service will be held at Evergreen Mortuary, 3015 N. Oracle Rd., Friday, August 27, 1999 from 5:30pm-8:00pm. Funeral Service will be held at Casas Adobes Baptist Church, 2131 W. Ina Rd., Saturday, August 28, 1999 at 10:00am. Flowers can be sent to Evergreen Mortuary. Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association and/or the American Heart Association.

LOPEZ, Peter P., 83, passed away on August 19, 1999. He is preceded in death by his wife, Florence. He is survived by two daughters, Karen and Judy; one granddaughter, Gayle. He retired from Hughes Aircraft Company in 1978 after 23 years of service. Services will be private.

MARY CORDOVA MALDONADO, 79, of Tucson, died August 22, 1999. Born July 30, 1920 in Cashion, AZ. Survived by daughter, Altagracia (Ricardo) Villaverde of Phoenix; sons, Ignacio (Kim) Cordova Maldonado, Arcadio Cordova Maldonado, Jessie Cordova of Maldonado, James (Laura) Cordova Maldonado all of Tucson; 17 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. 'We love you mom.' Mrs. Maldonado retired from St. Mary's Hospital. Friends may call 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., EVERGREEN MORTUARY. Mass of Resurrection, Thursday, 9:00 a.m., Holy Hope Mausoleum. PARRISH, Jerome, age 82, passed away August 23, 1999, leaving his wife of 63 years, Pearl; his sons, Budd and Richard; his daughters-in-law, Linda and Patricia; his grandchildren, Michael and Joshua; and his great-granddaughter, Clarissa. His memory will serve as a blessing to all who loved him. An informal memorial service and a Jewish wake (as he would have wanted), will be held on Friday afternoon, August 27, beginning at 3:30 at Rick and Pat's house.

PHINNEY, Lucien B., age 79, of Tucson, died August 23, 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife, Flossie and sister, Eleanor. Survived by his brother, Gilbert of West Wareham, MA; sons, William (DeNeill) and John; grandchildren, Shawn and Traci. Lucien was a founding member of Tucson's Old Pueblo Trolley and the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, ME. A long-time member of First Congregation Church of Tucson. Remembrances may be made in his memory to Old Pueblo Trolley, 360 East 8th St., Tucson, 85705. Visitation will be Thursday, August 26th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at ARIZONA MORTUARY UNIVERSITY CHAPEL, at Stone and University Blvd. and a memorial service will be held next week at First Congregational Church, time and day to be announced.

MURIEL R. RASMUSSEN, Memorial service for Muriel R. Rasmussen, 77, will be Saturday, August 28, 11:00 a.m., St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 3738 Old Sabino Canyon Road. Formerly of Lynbrook, NY on July 27, 1999. Survived by her loving devoted companion, John DeRosa; four daughters: Laura Blackman of Tucson; Constance Wit of Sausalito, CA; Sandra Llewellyn of San Diego, CA; Susan Rasmussen of New Port Richey, FL. Loving grandmother of Gregory, Dennis, Melissa, and Garreth. Also survived by son-in-laws: Robert Blackman and Gerald Teychene. Muriel was an active member of the Tucson Symphony Women's Association, Tucson Republican Women's Club and The Downtown Lions Club. The family gives thanks to the friends and caregivers, for their support and love. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association. May her kind heart and good deeds be remembered forever.

ROBINSON, Sadie R., 88, of Tucson, went to be with the Lord on August 21, 1999. She is preceded in death by her husband and one daughter. She is survived by three sons and one daughter. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 26 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL. SHICOFF, Mark P., 52, of Tucson, passed away Friday, August 20, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Ina; daughters, Rachel, Sara; brothers and sisters, Stuart Shicoff, Eileen Bachman, Ann Harris, and Robert Shicoff. TANNER, Bruce Arnold, born May 17, 1909 to Charles and Lulu Bell Tanner in Columbus, OH. preceded in death by sister, Doris Tanner Cole and daughter, Judith Ann. Survived by loving wife of 70 years, Marcella (Marcie); daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Douglas Thomson of Tucson; grandchildren, Stephen (Monica) Thomson of Croton, OH, Jeffrey Thomson of Tucson, AZ, Aimee (James) Zimmerman of DePere, WI; great grandchildren, Emily Rasnack of Tucson, AZ, Maare (Daniel) Harper of Woodbridge, VA, Rebecca (Chris) Saben of Bowling Green, OH, Erin Thomson of Croton, OH and Christian Elias of DePere, WI; great-great grandchildren, David, Gary and Stephen Harper all of VA. Bruce graduated from Ohio State College of Naprapathy and Mechanotherapy on May 20, 1939. Maintained offices in both Columbus and London, OH, until retirement in 1978. He belonged for 40 years to Kiwanis Club of Columbus, OH. A member of the Lions Club and the Hilltop Business Mens Assoc. of Columbus, OH. He was a Master Mason of Chandler Lodge in London, OH, he was presented with his 50 year pin in April of '97. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Tucson, AZ and a 50 year member of the Scottish Rite of Columbus, OH. A member of the Sabbar Temple AAONMS of Tucson, AZ. 1985 Commander, Sabbar Temple Legion of Honor, Commander of Western Shrine Legion of Honor 1985, given the Honor and Distinction of General by National Commander of Legion of Honor. He served as a pilot in the US Army Air Corp., War Training Service enlisting in November 1942. Civil Air Patrol in Columbus, OH and Tucson, AZ. Volunteer at Pima Air Museum 390 Memorial for 12 years, former Councilman in London, OH. Member of London Country Club. Member of Christ Church United Methodist of Tucson, AZ. An avid golfer scoring a hole in one, February 19, 1988 at Dorado Country Club. He was a private pilot for many years. Proudly marched for 20 years with the Legion of Honor Shrine in parades throughout Arizona. Memorial service to be held on Friday, August 27, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Church Methodist Chapel with Masonic Services. In lieu of flowers, donations cam be made to the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital and Burn Center c/o Sabbar Shrine Temple, 450 S. Tucson Blvd., T/A 85719. GERARDO VALENZUELA, age 43, passed away August 20, 1999. He is survived by his two sons, Gerardo 'Guero' Valenzuela and Rene Valenzuela; his parents, Francisco and Elva Valenzuela; sisters, Rosa Gomez, Frances Loya and Chuchi Alcantara; numerous other family members and countless friends. A memorial service will be held at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 26, 1999. ANDERSON, Ethel, age 85, a Tucson resident for 48 years died August 22, 1999 after a long illness. Survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Wallace Anderson and their son, Melvin (Antoinette) Anderson of New Orleans; grandchildren, Louise Bacon, Rachel Young, Johnny Bacon, Michael Bacon, Neicy Fowler, Dana Bacon, Deniss Young and Gary Young, Sr. all of Los Angeles, California and Marie Anderson and Melvin Wallace of Louisiana. She was a long standing member of OES Desert Star Chapter #8. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 27th at the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 2403 S. DENNING, James R., 61, passed away in Nevada on August 22, 1999. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; children, James R. Denning II, Michael Denning, Linda Noell, Jennifer Mettler, and Heather Gerba. Memorial services will be held at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave., Saturday, August 28 at 1:30 p.m.

JOYCE GLENN JENNINGS, age 48, of Tucson, died Monday, August 23, 1999. Survived by husband, Don E. Jennings, Sr. and three children, LeDonna, Don Jr. and Brittany all of Tucson. Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Educational Leaders Organization, Female Black Administrators, Past Principal of Schumaker Elementary School. She was presently employed as the Ombudsman for the Tucson Unified School District. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 28th at Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 1019 E. 31st Street. Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday with Rev. D. Grady Scott officiating. Interment will be in Meridian, Mississippi by Clark Funeral Home 631-30th Avenue. JERRED, Leigh Nelson, age 71, of Tucson, AZ, died August 24, 1999. Survived by wife, Candee; son, Lloyd; daughter, Carol; sisterin-law, Bette Jerred and nephew, Charles Jerred and his family. Mr. Jerred was the creator and director of the Community Closet, District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America and was a WWII Veteran. (Julie) Majalca, Edward (Gloria) Majalca, Gilbert Borquez, Joseph Majalca, Richard (Lucy) Majalca, Jessica Majalca, Maria (Manny) Alegria; two brothers, Aurelio Lopez and Reynald Moran; four sisters, Marina Moran, Paula Lopez, Teresa Federico and Esther Foust; 29 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. Mass for Mrs. Majalca will be said at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 300 S. Tucson Blvd. at 9:30 a.m. Saturday the 28th of August with interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery.
