NORMAN, Reginald H., was born in Woodstock, Wisconsin on March 21, 1914. He left this world on September 10, 1999. He married Doris Anderson on April 1, 1996. He worked in the maintenance department of Tucson Unified School District until his retirement in 1976. He is survived by his wife, Doris; two brothers and sisters-in-law; five children, two stepsons and daughters-in-law; 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was laid to rest in South Lawn cemetery on September 15, 1999.

PERKINS, Bruce E., 46, died September 22, 1999 after a long illness and battle with diabetes. Survived by his children, Craig and Tanya; mother, Lois Perkins; brother, Kim Perkins; sister, Cozette (Lance) Slocum; two nephews and one niece. Bruce was a member of the First Southern Baptist of Tucson and had been a member of City View Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, TX before moving to Tucson about a year and 1/2 ago. Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 1999, at First Southern Baptist Church, 445 E. Speedway, with Pastor Ron Hart officiating. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

JOAN J. RAE - Born June 3, 1934, died September 22, 1999. She will be missed by her daughter, Lisa R. Brena; two grandchildren, Danielle Brena and Rebbecca Brena; and brother, Clark Kieffer. Visitation Friday, September 24 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at WOLFREY'S PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway. Mass Saturday, September 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Hope cemetery.

RHODES, Herbert D., 87, a resident of Tucson, died Sunday, September 19, 1999. Survived by wife, Jean; children, Betsy (Roger) Harding of Sandpoint, ID, Bill Stacy (Patricia) Rhodes of Pretoria, South Africa, Mary (Walter) Lindley of Tucson; grandchildren, Megan, Dan, Molly, Amanda, Maggie, Max, Frederick and Catherine; sister, Frances Perkins of Murphys, CA. He spent 34 years at the U of A as a chemistry professor and Dean of Graduate College. Memorial service 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 25 at St. Marks Presbyterian Church, 3809 E. 3rd St. Private interment East Lawn Palms cemetery. RICHARDSON, Hal C., Jr. (Lt. Col. US Army Ret.), 75, a resident of Tucson, died Wednesday, September 22, 1999. Survived by wife, Frances; son, Mark C. (Maxine) of Brockton, MA; daughter, Lauren (Joseph) Farrell of Cresskill, NJ; stepsons, Robert E. (Marcia) Bassler, III of Springfield, VA and Thomason S. (Helen) Bassler of Sedro Woolley, WA; grandchildren, Johanna and Jamie Richardson, Kerry, Brett and Keely Farrell, Alison and Steven Bassler; numerous cousins. preceded in death by first wife, Louise Sharp of Worcester, MA. Hal was graduated from West Point in 1947 and retuned to West Point as Professor of engineering from 1953 to 1957. He served in Vietnam in 1958 and served in the European Command for three years, retiring from the military in 1968. After 17 years he retired in 1985 from New England Power Co. (Salem and Fall River, MA). He was a board member of the Tucson Symphony Society and had served as treasurer for Rotary District 5500. Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, followed by funeral service at 4:00 p.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2450 E. Ft. Lowell Rd. at Tucson Blvd., with Dr. Andrew G. Ross officiating. Interment will be in the National cemetery, Bourne, MA. Remembrances may be made to Tucson Symphony Orchestra, Rincon Rotary Foundation or the charity of your choice. GRACE, Ricardo Cera, age 20, of Tucson, AZ, died September 21, 1999. Ricardo was born on October 24, 1978 in Tucson, AZ. He is survived by parents, Ricky and Yvonne Grace; his sister, Deborah Grace; and a large family of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Ricardo graduated from Santa Rita High School, was a member of DECA, Pop Warner Football and Santa Rita Varsity Football. Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Adair Funeral Homes, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd., with services at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Stephanie Camp of Kingdom Faith officiating. HAROLD 'HAP' HESTON, 74, passed away Thursday, September 23, 1999. Survived by daughter, Penny (Bud) Cardinal; sons, Kim (Michelle) and Kevin (Billie Jo); nine grandchildren; brothers, Robert Heston and Richard Heston of Ohio; and close friend, Frances Yarbrough. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Funeral service 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 27 at Casas Adobes Baptist Church, 2131 W. Ina Rd.

HELEN TOTURA KAVALEC - Born on January 26, 1917 in Denora, PA to Susan and John Totura. Helen passed away suddenly on September 14, 1999. She is preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Kavalec, 4 years ago. She will be sadly missed by her two children, Timothy, Jr. (Pamela) of Tucson and Helen (Milo) Muterspaugh from Colorado Springs, CO. Helen also leaves behind three grandchildren, Timothy (Cris) Kavalec, Scott (Stacey) Kavalec, both of Tucson, and Katherine Muterspaugh of Colorado Springs. She had one great-grandson, Caden Kavalec.
Helen graduated from Denora High School in 1934 and was married to Tim in Cleveland, OH on January 1, 1940. They moved to Arizona in 1947. She loved square dancing, polka dancing, sewing, and puzzles of all kinds. Recently, she lived part of the time in Colorado Springs, and the other part in Tucson. She was an active member of the YMCA for older adults. We will all miss her happy spirit, good humor and beautiful smile.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. A private family service will be held on Sunday, September 26.

SCHIFANO, Giovanni S., born October 19, 1940 in Rome, Italy, is now with God as of September 23, 1999. Leaving behind his spouse, partner, best friend and soulmate, Karin; his brother and his wife and a sister and many family members, and a lifetime of friends. ERNESTINA ORTIZ VELASCO, 73, passed away Thursday, September 23, 1999 at Kino Community Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. She was born December 15, 1925 in Arivaca, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio; father, Jose Ortiz; mother, Josefa Valenzuela Ortiz; sister, Socorro Majalca; brother, Gerardo V. Ortiz.
She is survived by daughters, Jennie (Joe) Ahumada, Jessie (Bill) Vega, Julie (Ralph) Martinez, Edna (Chito) Trinidad; 16 grandchildren, Annalisa (Perry) Shazier, Joey, Adelina, Stella, Billy, Christina, Stephanie, Steven, Ralphie, Jerry, Ernest, Julissa, Bernadette, Fonzie, Emily and B.J.; five great-grandchildren, Pancho, Jade, Ralphie, Rene and Alyssa; brothers and sister, Genoveva Castro, Jose (Gloria) Ortiz, Natalia Hernandez, Aurelia Gonzales, Jesus (Gloria) Ortiz, Margie Noriega, Tonie Vasquez.
Visitation will be at Martinez Funeral Chapels on Saturday, September 26, from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 27, 1999 at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Graveside service will be at 12:30 p.m. at the Nogales City cemetery in Nogales, Arizona.

VERVERELLI, Peter J., age 43, died September 22, 1999 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Peter was born in Philadelphia, PA and grew up on the Main Line, a graduate of Harriton High School Class of 1974. He was a graduate of the University of Arizona, a registered Pharmacist and was employed by Walgreens. He is survived by his parents, Demitri and Anne Ververelli; brother, John and sister, Gail Torrence; wife, Ginger and sons, Dimitri and Kosmo. Friends may call Monday, September 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Trasagion will be at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 28 at 10:00 a.m., all at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 1145 E. RAD IAN WEBSTER - Quoting a proverb 'a bird does not sing because it has an answer. He sings because he has a song.' Rad, 27, blessed with a voice that could sing with the angels, slipped away from us on September 18, 1999. He was born on January 6, 1972, in Phoenix, AZ. Rad grew up in southern California and loved to spend summers with his grandparents in Tucson. Rad's deepest aspiration was to become a professional singer. He found his wife, Susan, through a mutual love of music. They were married in Tucson in 1998. Beloved husband, father, son, brother, and grandson, Rad is survived by his wife, Susan; their infant son, Brandon, both of Knoxville, TN; parents, Suzan J. Webster, Tucson and Peter H. Webster, Westport, CT; brother Bryan Moreno, Phoenix, AZ; grandmothers, Sallie J. Smith and Janet Zamble, both of Tucson and Martha Kittay, Gilbert, AZ; aunt, Nancy Dodson, whom he was especially close to. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 27, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1825 N. Alvernon, 3 p.m. followed by an open house at the home of Sallie J. Smith. KRUEGER, Hilda A., age 84, passed away early Friday morning at Arbors at Sylvania Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A devout Christian, Hilda taught Sunday school and Bible school, sang for the choir at First Alliance Church then known as the Toledo Gospel Tabernacle, and was active in the Child Evangelism Program in Toledo and various Vacation Bible Schools. She and her husband Al enjoyed nature and lived on the Lake Erie shore at Sand Beach before moving to Northwood, Ohio where they co-owned E.L.K. Orchard. In 1983, they moved to Tucson, AZ where they remained until fall of 1998 when they returned to Toledo to be closer to family. Hilda taught for Genoa Public Schools for many years before retiring in 1982. She was a talented vocalist and was known for her love of music. She sang with the Chapel Trio for the Pocket Testament League in the 1940's touring the U.S. during WWII and had a 15 minute program on WSPD in the late 1930's sponsored by Walker Funeral Home. Hilda will be remembered for her love of children and animals but mostly as a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.
Hilda is survived by her husband, Alvin G. Krueger, Sr.; children, Amy M. Krueger and Alvin G. Krueger, Jr.; grandchildren, Alvin G. III, and Josh Krueger; stepdaughter, Marilyn K. (Gary) Walker; and step grandchildren, Keith (Katy) Walker and Kristen (Matt) Crandall. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ethel Price and brother, Roy Morse.
Friends may visit the family from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider the Cheryl Page Foundation at Toledo Christian School or the charity of the donors choice.

LAWRIE, Frank, age 77, died September 24, 1999. He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara A.; four children, Charlie (Rose), Brett, James, Lynn (Kelly) Lane; six grandchildren, Brian, Duncan, Angus, Justin, Sarah, and Kristina; one great-grandchild, Courtney. Frank was born in Erie, PA on March 5, 1922. He lived in Buffalo, NY before settling in Tucson in 1957. Frank served in WWII from 1942-1945 in the 9th Army Air Force in Europe. He was a member of the American Legion Post 7, Masonic Lodge (NY) and the V.F.W. (NY). Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the TMC Auxiliary Remembrance Fund.

LOFQUIST, Celia Ruth, age 64, of Tucson, AZ, died September 25, 1999. Survived by husband, William; son, James, Tucson, AZ; daughter, Diane Hanson, MN; daughter-in-law, Julie Lofquist, MN; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson; sisters, Elizabeth Galea, Tucson, AZ; Margaret Parker, MN; Marion Hannon, Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 28, 1999 at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee with Rev. Tracy Floyd officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scottish Rite Child Language Center, 160 S. Scott Ave., Tucson, AZ 85701 in her memory.

McPARLANE, Kathleen, 89, died September 22, 1999. ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, (888-1111)

RIDGEWAY, Virginia E., 78, of Tucson, went to be with her Lord on September 25, 1999. Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, Leland; children, Linda Powell of Marana; Sharon Mitchell of Ohio; Bari Denune of Flagstaff; Larry Ridgeway of Ohio; Connie Morris and Nancy McLaughlin, both of Tucson; 23 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and two great-great-grand- children. Virginia was an inspector for Hughes Aircraft for 10 years, retiring in 1983. Her demeanor was one of helping and giving without regard for her own needs. Her physical presence will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends may call at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave., Wednesday, September 29 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, Thursday, September 30 at 1:00 p.m.

RINKLEIB, Anna L., age 93, died peacefully at home on September 20, 1999. Born in Germany May 22, 1906, she had been a resident of Tucson since 1927. She is survived by her daughters, Bernice 'Bici' (Richard) George, Emily (William H.) Bradley, Nancy (Russ) Willis all of Tucson and son, Barry (Bertha) Rinkleib of Phoenix. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Her husband, Bernard F. Rinkleib, was retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad after more than forty years of service and died in 1969. Mrs. Rinkleib was very active in the Order of Eastern Stars for over fifty years. Private services are pending. Arrangements by BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.

TIPPETT, Mabel M., 94, of Tucson, passed away September 24, 1999. Mabel was born September 30, 1904 in Perryville, Missouri. A resident of Arizona for the past 51 years. She was preceded in death by husband, August Tippett. She is survived by daughter, Jean Harrington; niece, Annette Smith and her husband, Joe; nephew, Raymond Page and his wife, Kay. She was a longtime member of St. Francis De Sales. Her with and humor will greatly be missed by all who knew her and loved her. Visitation 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 27, 1999 with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at HUDGEL'S SWAN FUNERAL HOME, 22nd & Swan Road.
