Elizabeth B. Moran, 62

FELTON - Elizabeth B. Moran of Felton, formerly of Hatboro, Pa., died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, in her home. She was 62.

Mrs. Moran moved to Felton in 1992 after retiring in 1989 as a police dispatcher and crossing guard for 10 years with Upper Marlin Township.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Morning Light Chapter 312, Hatboro, and the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Charles E. Jr.; two sons, Charles E. III of North Wales, Pa., and Jeffrey T. of Hatboro; a daughter, Nancy M. Kurz of Virginia Beach, Va.; her father, Thomas E. Berridge of Horsham, Pa.; a brother, Thomas E. Berridge Jr. of Horsham; and 10 grandchildren.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Chapel at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Prospectville, Pa.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Delaware Hospice, Kent County, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.

Orwig 'Max' Pierce III, 46

FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Orwig 'Max' Pierce III of Fairfield Township died suddenly Tuesday, April 14, 1998, in the emergency room of South Jersey Hospital System-Millville Division. He was 46.

Mr. Pierce was born in Fairfield Township, the son of Orwig 'Max' Pierce Jr. of Fairfield Township and the late Mildred Ridgway Pierce.

He was employed in the shipping department at Durand Glass Co. in Millville for the past 10 years.

Mr. Pierce was a member of the Back Neck Gunning Club and the Nanticoke Lenape Indians, and assisted with the Fairfield Township Little League.

Besides his father, he is survived by his wife, Linda Morris Pierce; one daughter, Maxine Coleman of Fairfield Township; one son, Orwig 'Max' Pierce IV of Fairfield Township; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Bridgeton, where the Rev. Francis E. Champion will officiate.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Gouldtown Memorial Park, Fairfield Township.

Frances Hudson Blocker, 75

SEAFORD - Frances Hudson Blocker of Seaford, died of heart failure Wednesday, April 15, 1998, in the Harrison House of Georgetown. She was 75.

Mrs. Blocker was born in Seaford, the daughter of the late Lester Dewey and Elizabeth O'Day Hudson.

She was a homemaker although, years ago, she sold Stanley Home Products, and worked at the former Kathryn's Restaurant and Bi-Lo Restaurant in Seaford.

Mrs. Blocker was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, Atlanta Road, Seaford; a Democratic committeewoman for Sussex County, for 30 years; and a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Seaford Volunteer Fire Co.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Turner Truitt Blocker, in 1983.

She is survived by a son, Jay W.L. Blocker of Seaford; a daughter, Kathryn B. Lankford of Seaford; and one grandson, Matthew Blocker.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at graveside, in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Seaford Volunteer Fire Co. Ambulance Squad, P.O. Box 87, Seaford, DE 19973.

John R. Harrah, 72

SUMMIT BRIDGE - John R. Harrah of Summit Bridge died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, in his home. He was 72.

Mr. Harrah was an Army veteran of World War II.

He retired in 1987 after 23 years with the Chrysler Corp. in Newark. Prior to that, he operated a mobile feed business in the Middletown-Odessa-Townsend area.

Mr. Harrah was a member of the UAW Local 1183, the Pencader Grange, the New Castle Moose Lodge 1578 and the Delaware and North Carolina Mobile Surf Fishermen; past treasurer of the Summit Civic Association; a member of the Summit United Methodist Church; and a member of the National Rifle Association. He did volunteer work for Special Olympics. He was a great fisherman and he also enjoyed deer, duck and bear hunting.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Butler Harrah, in 1996; a daughter, Nancy, in 1972; a stepson, Donald, in 1995; and his brother, Ronald, in March 1998.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Knox of Smyrna and Diane Guy of Dover; one brother, David Emerson Harrah of Waynesboro, Va.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad Street, Middletown, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans' Memorial Cemetery.

The family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice or to the Fox Chase Cancer Center, 7701 Burholme Avenue, Philadelphia, PA.

William Woody King, 66

FARMINGTON - William Woody King of Farmington died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, in his home. He was 66.

Mr. King was born in 1932 in Portsmouth, Va.

He ran a restaurant in the former Twin Kiss in Farmington for two years.

He is survived by his wife of three years, Son Chong; three sons, William King Jr. of North Carolina, William Michael of New Jersey and Richard Leslie of Florida; one daughter, Carroll Ann of New Jersey; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fleischauer Funeral Home, Greenwood.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Flowers are requested to be either live or silk.

Georgina Otero Rodriguez, 85

DOVER - Georgina Otero Rodriguez, R.N., of Luther Towers, Dover, died after a brief illness, Wednesday, April 15, 1998, in BayHealth Medical Center. She was 85.

Mrs. Rodriguez was born in Puerto Rico. She had lived in New York and was graduated from the Teaching Nursing School in Puerto Rico.

She served as a registered nurse for over 28 years at Holy Family Hospital in New York, until her retirement in 1971. She then moved to Dover.

Mrs. Rodriguez was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church of Dover.

She was especially fond of sewing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco Rodriguez, in 1995.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jose and Teresa Rodriguez of Dover; one granddaughter and her husband, Alisa and Richard Wunsch of Dover; one grandson, Michael Rodriguez of Dover; and nieces and nephews.

Service and burial will be held privately in Puerto Rico.

The family suggests contributions in her memory to the American Heart Association, 625 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901.

Rosa C. Darrell, 87

CLAYTON - Rosa C. Darrell of Clayton, died Thursday, April 16, 1998, in Capitol Health Care Services in Dover. She was 87.

Mrs. Darrell was born in 1910 near Clayton, the daughter of the late Fletcher and Lula Little Hurd.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Darrell was a member of the Downs Chapel United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed cooking and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Darrell Sr., in 1985.

She is survived by one son, George W. Darrell Jr. of Queenstown, Md.; five daughters, Laura D. Duerr of West Palm Beach, Fla., Shirley D. Killion of Ridgefield, Conn., Sandy D. King of Bear, Sharon D. Gearhart, with whom she lived, and Debra D. Taylor of Dover; one brother, Edward Hurd of Clayton; one sister, Lucille Horsey of Smyrna; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

John T. Starr, 77

MILTON - John T. Starr of Milton, died of heart failure Wednesday, April 15, 1998, in the VA Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He was 77.

Mr. Starr was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1942-1945.

He was a barber for 25 years, retiring in 1985. He was a former mayor of Milton and served on the town council. He was also a pilot.

Mr. Starr was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the VFW Broadkiln Post 6984, of which he was past commander.

He is survived by his wife, May B. Starr; a daughter, Debra Morgan of Alexandria, Va.; two sons, Frederick M. Starr of Rehoboth Beach and John W. Starr of Milton; and six grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Edward Street, Georgetown.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel of Short Funeral Services, Federal Street, Milton.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.

Donald D. Steinberg, 65

CAMDEN-WYOMING - Donald David Steinberg of Camden-Wyoming died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, in his home. He was 65.

Mr. Steinberg was born in 1932 in Newark, the son of the late Benjamin and Ethel Steinberg.

He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a technical sergeant and had served his country during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Steinberg was also a self-employed artist in Camden and Dover. In addition, he had worked for the Delaware Highway Division as a sign painter and had retired after 18 years of service.

He was a member of the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge 203.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita P. Steinberg, in 1986, and a brother, Herbert Cecil Steinberg.

He is survived by two daughters, Beverly Potter of Charleston, S.C., and Claudia Homewood of Dover; a stepson, Conley James Gagnon; a brother, Erwin Steinberg of New Jersey; a sister, Myra Steinberg of New Jersey; and three grandchildren, Brian Ashlock and Lee Ashlock, both of Charleston, and David Homewood of Dover.

Service will be at 2 p.m. today at the Torbert Funeral Chapel, Bradford and Reed streets, Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

Flowers may be sent or contributions may be made in memory of his wife, Anita Steinberg, to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 7, Dover, DE 19903-0007.

Lena Brown, 72

PATERSON, N.J. - Lena Brown of Paterson, N.J., formerly of Dover, Del., died Sunday, April 12, 1998. She was 72.

Mrs. Brown was born in Dover and had resided in Paterson for many years.

She was a cook for the Eastside High School in Paterson. She was a member of the Elks Lodge in Dover, and of the Serenity Baptist Church in Paterson, where she sang in the Senior Choir.

She is survived by three sisters, Elizabeth Scruggs of Paterson, and Melinda Evans and Laura Waters, both of Dover; two sisters-in-law, Helen Gibson of Dover and Anna Mae Gibson of Georgia; a brother-in-law, Roosevelt Scruggs; an adopted daughter, Evelyn Tolson of Magnolia, Del.; a godson, Lamar Hayer; a devoted companion, Augustus Little; two best friends, Ruth Moody and Christine Johnson, all of Paterson; and many other relatives and friends.

Service was at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Community Baptist Church of Love, Paterson, and a final service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover, where friends may call one hour before the service.

Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Arrangements by the LaGarde Family Funeral Home, 139 Ackerman Ave., Clifton.
