Hall Barton Torbert Jr., 37

HARRINGTON - Hall Barton Torbert Jr. of Harrington died from complications due to diabetes Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, in Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. He was 37.

Mr. Torbert was a dairy farmer in Harrington.

He is survived by his parents H. Barton Sr. and Mary Catherine Torbert of Harrington and a sister, Hope Minner of Houston.

Friends may call today from 7-9 p.m. at McKnatt Funeral Home, 50 Commerce St., Harrington.

Service and burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to Diabetes Foundation.

Fonda B. Randall, 72

KENNETT SQUARE, Pa. - Fonda B. Randall of Kennett Square, formerly of Felton, Del., died of complications following surgery Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, in the Southern Chester County Medical Center. She was 72.

Mrs. Randall was a graduate of Western Maryland College and a music teacher until becoming a housewife and living in Delaware from 1954 until 1996.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Richard C. Randall Jr. in 1996.

She is survived by a son, Colvin Randall of Kennett Square; two sisters, Audrey Boyer of Middletown, Md. and Sue Wilkening of Timonium, Md. and a brother, Rev. Carroll Boyer of Boonsboro, Md.

A memorial will be held in the spring.

Instead of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to Camden Friends Meeting, 122 E. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Camden, DE 19934.

Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Pennsylvania.

Carlton S. 'Corky' Mears, 70

DAGSBORO - Carlton S. 'Corky' Mears of Dagsboro died of heart failure Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 70.

Mr. Mears was born in Millsboro, the son of the late Charles C. and Sarah West Mears.

He was employed by Melvin Rust of Dagsboro as a mechanic.

Mr. Mears attended the Church of God in Georgetown.

He is survived by a son, Bruce A. Higman of Elsmere; two sisters, June E. Terroy of Seaford and Judy E. Gallimore of Millsboro and three granddaughters.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Millsboro Cemetery, State Street, Millsboro. The Rev. Parris Sexton will officiate.

Instead of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to the Delaware Heart Association, 600 DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Katerine Lynn 'Kathy' Sheldon, 38

EARLEVILLE, Md. - Katherine Lynn 'Kathy' Sheldon, a lifelong resident of Earleville died as a result of an automobile accident Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, in Chesapeake City, Md. She was 38.

Ms. Sheldon was born in Wilmington, Del., the daughter of Shirley Price Sheldon and the late Robert Allen Sheldon.

She attended and graduated from Bohemia Manor High School in 1978.

Ms. Sheldon's love for animals led to her current position at the SPCA in Chesapeake City, where she specialized in animal care. She also waitressed at the Granary in Georgetown, Md.

She enjoyed all water activities, especially boating. She enjoyed riding motorcycles.

Ms. Sheldon was a member of the Hacks Point Volunteer Fire Department in Hacks Point, Md.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sisters, Bobbie Ann Sheldon and Robin Sheldon Duff both of Earleville and two nephews, Robert Sheldon II and Joshua Duff both of Earleville.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 226 E. Main St., Cecilton, Md., where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. William Downing of St. Paul's United Methodist Church will officiate.

Those serving as pall bearers: Ed Brooks, Carl Combs, Mark Linton, David Barlow, Ronnie Brooks and John Kauffman.

Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Earleville.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the SPCA of Cecil County, P.O. Box 665, Chesapeake City, MD 21915.

Hugh Alexander Fraser, 79

SEAFORD - Hugh Alexander Fraser Sr. of Seaford died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, in Salisbury Center. He was 79.

Mr. Fraser was born on Feb. 23, 1919, in Washington, D.C., the son of the late Hugh Fraser and Alexandra Stephens Noble.

He had worked for the Dupont Co. in Seaford in the maintenance division.

He enjoyed spending summers at Indian River.

Mr. Fraser was a member of St. John's Methodist Church, Seaford.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Ingram Fraser of Seaford; two sons, Rowland I. Fraser of Georgetown and Hugh A. Fraser Jr. of Haysville, Kan.; a daughter, Shirley Killen of Felton; 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Savannah Road, Lewes.

Friends may call from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 600 N. Du Pont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947 and/or American Lung Association Delaware Chapter, 625 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901

Wayne S. Cain

MILTON - Wayne S. Cain of Milton died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in Beebe Medical Center.

Mr. Cain was born in West Chester. Pa., the son of Martha Cain and the late Wayne S. Cain of West Chester.

He Served in the United State Air Force.

Mr. Cain was a food clerk for Super Fresh in Rehoboth Beach for nine years.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Donna D. Cain of Milton; a son, Bart Cain of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Mary Beth Young of Boca Raton, Fla.; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Ronald Quay will officiate.

Burial will be private.

Flowers are acceptable.

Juan De Leon, 70

LINCOLN - Juan De Leon of Cedar Creek Estates, Lincoln died form cancer Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in his home. He was 70.

Mr. De Leon was a foreman at the Eagle Umbrella Factory in Philadelphia, Pa. for 29 years, retiring in 1981.

He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Dover.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Maria De Lourdes of Lincoln; five sons, Roy De Leon of Philadelphia, Jorel De Leon of Lincoln, Jose Galloza and Carlos Galloza both of Philadelphia and Oscar Galloza of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Evelyn Rios of Winston Salem, N.C. and Glendali Corera of Philadelphia; seven brothers, Miguel De Leon of Vineland, N.J., William De Leon, Bernardo De Leon, Jaime De Leon, Angel De Leon and Enriquez De Leon all of Philadelphia, and Guillermo De Leon of Cherry Hill, N.J.; three sisters, Margo De Leon of New York, N.Y., Elizabeth Avilez of Jacksonville, Fla. and Dolores De Leon of Philadelphia, Pa. and seven grandchildren.

Service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, College Road, Dover.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Southern Division, 600 North DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Orvale Richard Evans, 72

SMYRNA - Orvale Richard Evans of Smyrna died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, in Veterans Affairs Hospital, Wilmington. He was 72.

Mr. Evans was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was a foreman with NVF Co. in Newark for 23 years, retiring in 1988.

Mr. Evans was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Middletown.

He was preceded in death by a son, Stevan Evans, in October of 1998.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rose Evans of Smyrna; three sons, Timothy 'Tex' Evans and Terry Evans, both of Newark, Phillip 'Toby' Evans of Middletown; a brother Lee Evans of Florida; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Daniel & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 North Broad St., Middletown, where friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, following the service.

Grace Marie McClelland, 88

BALTIMORE - Grace Marie McClelland of Baltimore, formerly of Millville, died of heart failure Saturday, Jan. 16. 1999, in the Charlestown Care Center, Catonsville, Maryland. She was 88.

Mrs. McClelland was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of the late Bernard Flynn and Bess Paynter Flynn.

She worked in the clerical department at Westinghouse in Baltimore, Maryland.

Mrs. McClelland moved to South Bethany Beach, later to Millville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur K. McClelland, in 1984.

She is survived by a son, Bernard A. McClelland of Baltimore; a granddaughter, Kathleen Pratt of Baltimore and three great grandsons.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Mariner's Bethel Cemetery, Ocean View. The Rev. Joseph Burris will officiate.

Instead of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to The Building fund of Mariner's Bethel United Church, P.O. Box 40, Ocean View, DE 19970.

David Mathew Lenox, 59

Chestertown, Md. - David Matthew Lenox of Chestertown died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in Millington. He was 59.

Mr. Lenox was born in GreenPort N.Y., the son of the late Stanley and Florence McDermott Lenox.

He graduated in 1956 from Shelter Island High School, Shelter Island, New York.

Mr. Lenox joined the United States Coast Guard after graduation.

He sold sail boats for Sail Masters from 1964 to 1967. He had a background in custom building furniture and a passion for boats. He started his own business in 1967, The Lenox Company of Annapolis, Maryland, later moving the business to Millington in 1985; where he made a living repairing fiber glass boats. He developed a fine reputation for his craftmanship and his ability to make repairs of all kinds.

Mr. Lenox married Alice Fay Nutter of St. Mary's County, Maryland, together they raised a family of five.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Darryl Mark Lenox of Kissimmee, Fla., Lauryl Ann Clark of Sudlersville, Md., Lisa Michelle Stubbs of Worton, Md., Mark Wayne Lenox of Sudlersville, Brenda Jean Andres of Stevensville, Md.; two brother, Stanley Floyd Lenox Jr. and Steven Lenox both of Shelter Island, N.Y. and 15 grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, Md., where friends may call two hours prior to the service.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
