ALTHEA JANE GILBERT

Mrs. Althea Jane McGaha Gilbert, age 81, of Smyrna Rd., Young Harris, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Gilbert was born on July 21, 1926 in Hayesville, NC., the daughter of the late Jesse McGaha and the late Nellie Meadows McGaha. She was a lifelong resident of Union County. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebekah Gilbert in 1946, two sisters, Eva Teems and Minnie Shook, three brothers, John, Fred and Earl McGaha. Mrs. Gilbert was a member of Pine Log Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Gilbert are her loving husband of sixty- three years, Carl Gilbert of Young Harris, four sons and two daughters-in-law, Cecil and Christine Gilbert of Blairsville, Bill Gilbert of Blairsville, Eddie Gilbert of Blairsville, Steve and Jennifer Gilbert of Blairsville, one brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Sadie McGaha of Young Harris; three grandchildren, Jim Gilbert, Amanda Gilbert Stroud and Anita Gilbert, one great grandchild, Rodney Stroud, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 30, 2007 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dexter Dockery and Rev. Jerry Rice officiating. Special music will be presented by a grand-daughter and friends. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Keith McGaha, Larry Teems, Rex Dockery, Travis Dockery, Tony Gilbert, Teddy Gilbert and Bud Berrong. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.

FRANK ISADOR EMERINE Jr.

Mr. Frank Isador Emerine Jr., age 86 of Emerine Rd. Blairsville passed away on Monday, Dec. 12, 2005 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Emerine was born on Nov. 15, 1919 in Sullivan, Indiana, The son of the late Frank Emerine Sr. and the late Lillian Eckert Emerine. He was a member of the Pipe Fitters Union Local 295.Mr. Emerine was a member of the House of Prayer.

Surviving Mr. Emerine are his loving wife of sixty six years, Joyce Barry Emerine of Blairsville, one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Robert Lanham of Clay, W. VA, two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank Emerine III and his wife Nancy of Bradenton, FL, Barry and Diane Emerine of Blairsville, five Grandchildren, Janet Eastham, Doug Emerine, Stacy Raper, Jace Emerine and Michael Lanham, seven Great-Grandchildren, Kyle Eastham, Hunter Emerine, Kaley Raper, Michael Raper III, Zachery Raper, Brandon Lanham and Cassidy Lanham, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005 at 6:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. Special music will be presented by Mindy Combs. After the services in Blairsville, Mr. Emerine will be taken to the Serenity Meadows Funeral Home in Riverview, FL, where a visitation will be held on Sunday evening. Interment and graveside services will be held on Monday, Dec. 19, 2005 at 2:00 pm from the New Hope cemetery in Brandon, FL.

CHARLIE CLAUDE JOHNSON

Mr. Charlie Claude Johnson, age 80 of John Smith Rd. East Blairsville passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following an a brief illness. Mr. Johnson was born on Aug. 20, 1925 in Lake City, SC., The son of the late E. B. Johnson and the late Bertha Mason Johnson. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII. He and his wife had made their home in Blairsville for the past twenty years, moving here from Atlanta and had also lived in Castleberry, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. Mr. Johnson was a member of St. Clare’s Episcopal Church.

Surviving Mr. Johnson are his loving wife of sixty years, Barbara Olyott Johnson of Blairsville, Two sons, Stephen Alan Johnson of Gainesville, FL, Randy W. Johnson of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005 at 2:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Susan Johnson officiating. Special music will be presented by Susan Johnson and Roy Johnson. Military Honors will be conducted by the North GA Honor Guard. Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm.

YUL (ROY) KUK KIM

Mr. Yul (Roy) Kuk Kim, age 46 of Mt. Valley Ct. Blairsville passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Kim was born on April 20, 1959 in Korea, The son of the late Jae Hak Kim and the late Young Ja Shim Kim. He had made his home in Blairsville for the past seven years. He was employed at the time of his death by sun poultry.

Surviving Mr. Kim are two daughters, In Ae Kim of Atlanta, Sin Ae Kim of Seoul Korea, Two sisters, Three brothers all of Korea, His Fiancee, Yong Deslandes of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 23, 2005 at 7:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Steven Kim officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in Korea. Flowers are accepted or in lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to a favorite charity of your choice in Mr. Kims memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5-7 pm.

Ronald Eugene Garrett

Mr. Ronald Eugene Garrett, age 50 of Blairsville, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Atlanta, following an extended illness. Mr. Garrett was born on June 4, 1955, in Murphy NC. The son of Owen F. Garrett and Edna J. McDonald. He was a rock mason and a life long resident of Union County. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Ronald Garrett, Jr. Mr. Garrett was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Garrett are three sisters Pat and husband Kenneth Mayo of Atlanta, Debra and husband Mike Stephens of Blairsville, Susie Densmore of Atlanta. One brother Douglas and wife Kathy Garrett of Atlanta. Many other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005 at 11:00 am from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Leon McDonald officiating. Visitation at funeral home will be held on Friday, Dec. 23, 2005 from 6 to 9 pm. Interment will follow in the Peachtree Baptist Memorial. Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, John Barrett, Dewayne Cannon, Mike Stephens, Kevin Mullins, Steven Mayo, Kenneth Mayo and Jesse Garrett.

MARTHA NELL McDONALD

Mrs. Martha Nell McDonald, age 76 of Hendricks Drive Murphy, NC., passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2007 in the Valley View Healthcare Center in Andrews following an extended illness. Mrs. McDonald was born on May 23, 1931 in Murphy, NC., the daughter of the late Perlie Elmer Johnson and the late Louise Reid Johnson. She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee county. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Edward McDonald. Mrs. McDonald was a member of the Upper Peachtree Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. McDonald are four daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Larry Helton of Murphy, Linda and Johnny Foster of Waynesville, NC., Lorrie and Kenny Messer of Owensboro, KY., Julie Mathis and husband, Frank of Murphy, two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Shirley McDonald of Blairsville, Ricky and Terri McDonald of Andrews, one sister, Gladys Adams of Murphy, grandchildren, Jonathan and Marcie Foster, April and Scott Pascia, Vanessa and Brandon Bland, Joseph and Martha Foster, Cassie McDonald, Jacob Foster, Scott Helton, Joshua Mathis and Krista Mathis, great grandchildren, Jon Luke Foster, Morgan Bland, Aarron Bland and Gabriel Foster, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 30, 2007 at 2:00pm from the Upper Peachtree Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve West and Rev. Johnny Foster officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Jonathan, Joseph and Jacob Foster, Scott Helton, Joshua Mathis and Randle Harris. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the Upper Peachtree Baptist Church on Sunday evening from 6-9pm.In lieu of flowers if you wish. memorials may be made to Upper Peachtree Baptist Church Building fund or to Valley View Care Center Patient Fund in Mrs. Mrs. McDonald’s memory.

Larry David Garner

Mr. Larry David Garner, age 52 of Peachtree City, GA, formerly of Suches, GA, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007 at his home following a brief illness. Mr. Garner was born on Oct. 27, 1954 in Athens, GA, the son of Elizabeth Morey Garner and the late James Arthur Garner. He was the owner of A & W Automotive in Jonesboro, GA. Larry was a kind and gentle soul and was well loved through out the Clayton County Community. He is now with God and will greatly be missed. Mr. Garner was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Garner are Roxan Johnson, his life time love of his heart, of Peachtree City, uncle, Bob Garner of Suches, mother, Elizabeth Summerour of Clermont, one sister, Christin Freeman of Rockmart, GA, five brothers and five sisters-in-law, Richard and Ruby Garner of Monroe, GA, Doug and Lou Garner of Newburn, GA, Gordon and Connie Garner of Lexington, KY., Jim and Mary Garner of Princeton, KY., Dale and Virginia Worthy of Montecello, GA, uncle, , several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007 at 2:00pm from Mt. Pleasant Hill Church in Suches with the Rev. Clarence Drummond officiating. Special music will be presented by Robbie Garner. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

WILLIA GRACE HALL

Mrs. Willia Grace Hall, age 85 of Wesley Mtn. Drive Blairsville formerly of Hiawassee and Fannin County passed away on Friday, August 3, 2007 following an extended illness. Mrs. Hall was born on June 20, 1922 in Fannin County, the daughter of the late Wesley Parker and the late Flora Taylor Parker. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Kirby and by a grandson, Randy White. Grace was a kind hearted, gentle and loving lady. She loved to garden and just being outdoors. Grace finally found the peace which she had sought for so long, being with her daughter, grandson and her God. Mrs. Hall was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mrs. Hall are one sister, Helen Callahan of Michigan, sister-in-law, Joyce Burns, niece, Vickie Plemmons, cousin, Jean Kendall, very special friends, Joy Meers, Faye and Steven Foster, many many other friends including the ones at Branan Lodge, several other nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to your favorite charity in Mrs. Hall’s memory.

MYRTLE ANN BLALOCK

Mrs. Ann Myrtle Blalock, age 66 of Leslie Drive Blairsville passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2007 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Blalock was born on Sept. 17, 1940 in Union County, the daughter of the late Sherman Duckworth and the late Fannie Young Duckworth. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. She was preceded in death by a son, Travis Blalock. Mrs. Blalock was a member of Youngstown Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Blalock are two daughters and sons-in-law, Tracie and Steve Warren of Gainesville, Pam and Rev. Ronnie Abernathy of Blairsville, two sons and daughters and sons-in-law, Rickey and Christy Blalock of Gainesville, Rev. Wade and Brenda Plott of Blairsville, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Junior and Faye Duckworth of Blairsville, Charles and Linda Duckworth of Blairsville, Bill Duckworth of Cornelia, six grandchildren, Travis and Tyler Plott, Haley and Holli Abernathy all of Blairsville, Jessa and Noah Warren of Gainesville, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007 at 2:00pm from the Harmony Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Tanner and Rev. Steve Rhoten officiating. Special music will be presented by Robby Smith.The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Travis Plott, Doug Duckworth, Coy Dockery, David Dyer, Sid Duckworth, Jackie Duckworth, Casey Dover, Lamar Dyer and Shannon Carroll. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening after 6:00pm.
