TOM LESTER LOYD

Mr. Tom Lester Loyd; PA, age 59 passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005 at his home after bravely fighting cancer for over six years. Mr. Loyd was born on Oct. 13, 1946 in Atlanta, GA, The son of Robert Loyd and Ruth Rogers Loyd. Tom and his family moved from Hudson, FL. To Blairsville in 2001 where he was employed at the Hillcrest Clinic was a Physicians Assistant. He was a veteran of the US Army of the Vietnam War where he served as a Medic. He was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Rubert in 1999.Tom was a devoted and loving husband and father. He loved the Lord and was a devout Christian.

Surviving Mr. Loyd are his loving wife of over twenty years, Lisa Culp Loyd of Blairsville, two loving sons, Daniel and Noah Loyd of Blairsville, His Parents, Robert and Ruth Loyd of Atlanta, many other relatives and close friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005 at 2:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with George Georgiou officiating. Special music will be presented by Vernal Richardson. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Doug Loyd, Chad Deyton, Harrison Garner, Daniel Loyd, Noah Loyd and Joe Garner. Interment will follow in the Holly Hill cemetery. The family will meet with friends thirty minutes prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

BYRDENA OLGA DERRISO

Mrs. Byrdena Olga Derriso, age 79 of Chrisman Rd. Blairsville, formerly of Leesburg, FL. passed away on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005 at her home following an extended illness. She was born on Dec. 12, 1925 in Tampa. FL, the daughter of the late Tony Leto and the late Rita Torrino Leto. She was preceded in death by her husband. Moscoe Derriso. Mrs. Derriso was a member of the House of Prayer.

Surviving Mrs. Derriso are one daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Jack Brown of Leesburg, FL, one sister, Rose Hopey of Black Mountain, NC., one brother, Peter Leto of AL, one grandson, a dear friend Lucille Cislak of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to a favorite charity in Mrs. Derriso’s memory.

REV. WILLIAM THOMAS FORD

Rev. William Thomas Ford, age 75 of Ford Rd.Blairsville passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at his home following an extended illness. Rev. Ford was born on Oct. 19, 1930 in Campbell County, TN., The son of the late Charlie Thomas Ford and the late Evelyn Marie Walden Ford. He was a Veteran of the US Army of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Mark Ford in 1999 and by a Great-Grandchild, Madison Ford, also by five brothers and one sister. Rev. Ford had been in the Ministry for over forty nine years. He was the former pastor of Eastside Freewill Baptist church in Warren, MI., where he served as their Pastor for twenty eight years. Rev. Ford was the current Pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church and had pastured there for the past five years.

Surviving Rev. Ford are his loving wife of fifty four years, Marie Lucille Franklin Ford of Blairsville, three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Brenda Ford of Clinton Township, MI, Mike and Joann Ford of MaComb Township, MI, Keith and Roberta Ford of Blairsville, one sister, Carrie Mae Jordan of Knoxville, TN, nine grandchildren, Sharyn (and husband Danny), Shannon, Steve, Jason, Melissa, Matthew, Kristy, Daniel and Justine. three great-grandchildren, Leon, Morgan and Serena, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005 at 11;00 am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Hubert Legg and Rev. Brent Chatham officiating. Special music will be presented by Leon Henderson, Steve Cox and the Ebenezer Church Choir. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Jason, Matt and Daniel Ford, Junior Cummings, Lynn Nichols and Eric Moore. Serving as Honorary pallbearers are Home Powell, Leon Bauer, Tim Steele, C.D. Griggs, Hubert Plott, Johnny Nichols Clayton Moore, and all of Toms Fellow Ministers. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery.

HENRY GRADY ABERCROMBIE

Mr. Henry Grady Abercrombie, age 98 of Bonnie Lane Blairsville passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2007 in the Union County Nursing Home following a brief illness.

Mr. Abercrombie was born on Jan. 24, 1909 in Fannin County, the son of the late Albert and Josie Wright Abercrombie. He was a lifelong resident of Union, Fannin Counties and Polk County, TN. He retired from the Tennessee Chemical Company after several years of service. He played many musical instruments, but his favorite was the fiddle, banjo and harmonica. He was the Guest on the Grand Ole Opry several times and played with Bill and Charlie Monroe, Earl Flatts and Lester Scruggs and the Cater Sisters, just to name a few. His favorite past time was Fox Hunting, which he started at the age of seven. Grady, Loved life, his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, fishing and the great outdoors. He was preceded in death by his wife. Minnie Chambers Abercrombie, a grandson, Jackie ( Butch) Abercrombie, brothers and sisters, Bascomb Abercrombie, Dawson, Hobert and Claude Wright, Reba Davenport, Lula Patterson, Fairy Parris and Bonnie Abercrombie. Mr. Abercrombie was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Abercrombie are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jackie and Helen Abercrombie of Blairsville, Jimmy Abercrombie of Blairsville, Six grandchildren, Jimmy Lynn and Steve Abercrombie, Candy Colwell, Melissa Tanner, Natha Rivers and Robby Abercrombie, thirteen great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 11:00am from the Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Cotton Harris, Rev. Vernon Davenport and Rev. Floyd Thomas officiating. A Eulogy will be given by his son, Jackie. Special music will be presented the Bethlehem Church Choir. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Robby, Jimmy Lynn, Steve, Aaron and Daniel Abercrombie and Robby Rivers. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 4-9pm.

DELLA MAE WARREN

Mrs. Della Mae Warren, age 89 of Donahue Rd. Winder, GA, formerly of Blairsville passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2007 in the Winder Health Care Center following a brief illness. Mrs.Warren was born on Feb. 20, 1918 in Union County, the daughter of the late West Grizzle and the late Flury Harkins Grizzle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Warren in 1991, two infant children, three brothers, Arch, Clifford and Leonard Grizzle, two sisters, Ethel Warren and Ella Lou Cantrell. Mrs. Warren was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Warren are one daughter and son-in-law, Wylean and Hershel Carder of Winder, one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Pat Warren of Winder, three grandchildren, Leigh Cain, Allen Carder and Danny Carder, five great grandchildren, Shea, Daniel, Allison, Dylan and Kelley Carder and Emma Clair Cain, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Earl Pickelsomer and Rev. Paul Carder officiating. Special music will be presented by Dorothy Pickelsimer. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Paul Warren, J. M. Grizzle, Richard Corn, Burless Pickelsimer, Anthony Warren and Jimmy Pickelsimer. Interment will be held in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.

GAIL MARIE WRIGHT

Mrs. Gail Marie Wright, age 43 of Cleveland Hwy Blairsville passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2007 at her home following a sudden illness. Mrs. Wright was born on Oct. 29, 1963 in Denville, NJ., the daughter of the late Dwight Morrow and Eileen Peer Morrow. She was preceded in death by her father, Dwight Morrow and her step father, Isaac Taylor. Mrs. Wright was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mrs. Wright are her Fiance’, Robert Howard of Blairsville, mother, Eileen Taylor of Andrews, two daughters and one son-in-law, Danielle and Richard Reid of Lakeland, FL, Ariel Wright of Lakeland, FL, one son, T. J. Wright of Lakeland, FL, four sisters and three brother in laws, Arlene Owensby of Blairsville, Carol and Willy McCall of Bethlehem, PA., Jackie and Donny Patterson of Blairsville, Melissa and Scott Selby of Andrews, NC., several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends and relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2006 at 3:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Waymon Lovell officiating. Special music will be Gail’s favorite songs. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12-3pm.

RICHARD LEE HAMPTON

Mr. Richard Lee Hampton, age 62 of Mt. Pleasant Church Rd. Blairsville passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 in the N. East Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Hampton was born on March 23, 1945 in Cherokee Co., NC, the son of Odith Warren and the late Kenneth Hampton. He was a lifelong resident of Union County. He was the owner and operator of Hampton Well Drilling for more than forty years and along with his son Randy, were the first in the area to do hydro-fracting of wells, which they started in 1985. Richard was very active in the community. His favorite past times were hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Scotty Hampton and two brothers, Billy and Walter Hampton. Mr. Hampton was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Hampton are his loving wife of thirty years, Jo Hannah Hampton of Blairsville, mother, Odith Ballew, one son, Randy Hampton, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debra Hampton, Rehnee and Cliff Herr, Teresa and Joey Colwell all of Blairsville, three step daughters and sons-in-law, Telida and Tommy Lovell of Blairsville, Tammy and Mark Robinson of Brewton, AL., Renee’ and Jeff Hanna of Flowery Branch, GA, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Boyd and Becky Hampton of Conyers, Ken and Carol Hampton of LA., Cecil and Pearl Warren of Andrews, NC., one sister, Pauline Ernest of Douglasville, grandchildren, Brandy and Christopher Hampton, Larry (Trey) and Sandra Law, Jessica and Cliff Herr Jr., Tyler Henderson, Julia Colwell, Jason, Adam and Todd Robinson, Zachary Lovell, Matt and Bethany Hannah, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Stacy Dyer and Rev. Charles Abernathy officiating. Special music will be presented by Michael Kennedy and Mindy Combs. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Randy Hampton, Chad Sisum Keith Brewer, Tim Odom, Michael Kennedy, Tommy and Greg Hampton and Mike Dillard. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be, Jason, Adam and Todd Robinson, Christopher Hampton, Zachary Lovell, Trey Law, Tyler Henderson, Matt Hanna, Cliff Herr Jr. and Rodney Hampton. Interment will follow in the Jones Cemetery.

GEORGE ANDREW TOTH

Mr. George Andrew Toth, age 87 of Lakeside Drive Blairsville passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2006 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Toth was born on July 20, 1918 in Cleveland, OH, The son of the late George Toth and the late Rose Fabian Toth He was a veteran of the US Army of WWII. He was a member of the US Army Reserves, the VFW, the American Legion, the Retired Officers Assoc., Woodmen of the World. He was a member and was the Founder of the Knights of Columbus of Blairsville. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Eles Toth and by his second wife, Rita Ronning Toth. Mr. Toth was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church.

Surviving Mr. Toth are two sons and one daughter-in-law, George and Debi Toth of Gastonia, NC., Gary Toth of Randleman, NC., step son, Joe Ronning of NY, NY., one Grandson, Michael Toth of Greensboro, NC., many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 10:00am from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church with Father Richard Wise officiating. Special music will be presented by Bob and Jean Hiler. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Charlie Gluodenis, Mel Prime, Ed Combs, Charlie Brown, Joe O’Brien and Walt Shumway. Military honors will be conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment and graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 9:00am from the Elm Lawn cemetery in Kenmore, NY. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 2-4pm and from 6-9pm with a Scriptural Rosary being held at 7:00pm.
