Maxine L. Christensen
Born in Waterloo, IA on Sep. 30, 1921
Departed on Oct. 9, 2005 and resided in Cedar Falls, IA.

Maxine L. Christensen, 84, of Cedar Falls, Iowa died Sunday, October 9, 2005 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home in Cedar Falls, Iowa. A memorial service will be held on October 13, 2005 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Following immediately will be a luncheon at the church. Additional services will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2005 at 2:00 PM at the Faith Presbyterian Church in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas.

Survivors include her son Paul (Nancy) Christensen of Cedar Falls, IA; three daughters Dana Christensen of Mesa, AZ, Meri Krisan (Stephen) Panther of Waterloo, IA, and Jamie (Chris) Miller of Horseshoe Bend, AR; one sister Evagene Neimann of Memphis, TN; and ten grandchildren.

Her husband, parents, one brother, and one sister preceded her in death.

Maxine Luella Cowles was born September 30, 1921 to Perry and Luella Mae Cowles in Waterloo, Iowa. She married Paul G. Christensen on September 4, 1949 in Waterloo, Iowa. Paul passed away in 1984.

Maxine graduated from West High School in Waterloo, Iowa and from State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Maxine and Paul founded, and operated the Paul G. Christensen Construction Company. Maxine also worked part time for the Horseshoe Bend Library as a librarian.

She was a member and an elder of the Faith Presbyterian Church in Horseshoe Bend, AR.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association in Maxine’s name.

Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Eastern – Central – Western Iowa.

John J. Hinkle III
Born in New London, Conn. on Aug. 3, 1929
Departed on Apr. 12, 2005 and resided in Fredericksburg, IA.

John J. Hinkle III, 75, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday April 12, 2005, in his home following a long illness. Services will be held at a later date.

Survivors include his wife Jean, daughter Donna (Ivan) Kuhn of Charles City, Iowa, daughter Jean (Michael) Kuker of Fredericksburg, 13 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by a daughter Carol Ann Bonnin and grandchild Cliff Cory Bonnin.

John was born August 3, 1929 in New London, Conn. to Alburn and Myrtle (Swan) Hinkle. He served in the US Air Force from March 1947 to March 1950. He married Jean Staplins on June 30, 1951 in Mystic, Conn. He was a mill operator and sign painter, for Ottawa Silica in Conn. for 16 years. He loved being out doors and all of nature. He enjoyed painting, and his passion was bird watching.

Grace E. Fredrickson
Born in Robinsdale, MN on Feb. 29, 1952
Departed on Jul. 19, 2007 and resided in Des Moines, IA.

Grace Estella Fredrickson, 55, of 1731 Cleveland St, died Thursday, July 19, 2007 at the Kavanagh Hospice House, Des Moines following an extended illness.

Per her wishes, she was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 (Noon), Saturday, July 28th, 2007 at the Berean Assembly of God Church, 5225 Maple Drive, Pleasant Hill, IA. The Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her son, Richard Fredrickson of Iowa Falls, IA and daughter, Rachel Cummings of Fountain, CO; Mother, Winona Lindstrom of Coon Rapids, MN; Brothers, Richard Lindstrom of Brooklyn Center, MN, Michial Lindstrom of Murietta, California; Sisters, Joyce Hallam of Houston, TX, Rebecca Benoit of Columbia Heights, MN, Glenna Lindstrom of Eagan, MN, Janice Springer of Elk River, MN & Candice Stanton of New Brighton, MN. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Lindstrom.

Grace Estella Lindstrom was born February 29, 1952 in Robinsdale, MN the daughter of Glen & Winona (Johnson) Lindstrom. Grace owned and operated Daycare Centers in the Des Moines area.

Gene Harvey Brownell
Born in Maynard, IA on Nov. 7, 1919
Departed on Jul. 16, 2007 and resided in Randalia, IA.

Gene Brownell, age 87, of Randalia passed away Monday, July 16th, 2007, at Allen Memorial hospital, Waterloo, Iowa following a sudden illness.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 21st, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fayette, Iowa. Inurnment will follow the service at Long Grove cemetery in Maynard, Iowa.

Gene's family will greet friends and relatives at the Gary Brownell residence, 13565 O Avenue, rural Randalia, Iowa, from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. on Friday, July 20th, 2007, with prayer and tribute service starting at 7:30 p.m.

Gene Harvey Brownell was born November 7, 1919 to Herald and Hazel [Simpson] Brownell near Maynard Iowa. Gene attended and graduated from Maynard High School in 1937. Following graduation he attended the University of Iowa for a time. On June 6, 1942 Gene married Dolores Fortier. The couple raised five children and they were married for 61 years. Dolores preceeded Gene in death on October 10, 2003.

Gene was employed as Fayette County A.S.C.S. office Manager for 18 years, retiring in 1983. Prior to working at A.S.C.S., Gene was a dairy farmer in the Maynard and Westgate areas from 1942 to 1965.

Gene was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church for 57 years. a member of Pleasant Ridge Driving Club, the Fayette County Farm Bureau, a life member of the Holstein Association, and leader of the Harlan Livestock 4-H club for 14 years.

Gene thoroughly enjoyed raising, breaking, driving and showing ponies and draft horses over the years, as well as his herd of holsteins.

Survivors include: two sons, Gary [Janice] Brownell of Randalia, Ia, Bill [Diane] Brownell, Riceville, Ia, two daughters Kay [Phil] Johnson of Rolfe, Ia, and Judy [Dale] Cowell of Wauzeka, Wi. Seventeen grandchildren and thirty-eight great-grandchildren.

Gene was preceeded in death by his parents, a son Dick Brownell, a great granddaughter Katie Farmer, a brother Gerald Brownell, a sister Gwenda Brownell, and son-in-law Gary Moats.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Jack DeWayne Schuck
Born in Waterloo on Feb. 21, 1927
Departed on Jul. 12, 2007 and resided in Cedar Falls, IA.

Jack DeWayne Schuck, 83, of Cedar Falls, IA passed away Thursday, July 12, 2007 at the Cedar Valley Dialysis Center in Waterloo IA. Per his wishes, Jack was cremated.

Jack DeWayne Schuck was born February 21, 1924 to Claude and Elizabeth “Betty” (Betz) Schuck in Waterloo, IA. Jack was a 1942 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He served in the United States Army serving during World War II in the European Theatre Conflict. After serving his country, Jack owned and operated Schuck Realty Company from 1950 until his retirement in 2000.

Jack was married to Celia Tebben in 1946. They were later divorced. On June 26, 1986, he and Joan Tomkins were united in marriage at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.

Through the years Jack was very active in the community and started many housing developments. Jack enjoyed life to the fullest and loved spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include his wife Joan Schuck of Cedar Falls; son Jon Schuck of North Port, FL; daughter Sheila Clark of Los Angeles, CA; step children Angela (Jeff) Church of Parkersburg, IA; Rex (Hope) Tomkins of Parkersburg; Scott (Shelly) Tomkins of Garner, NC; and ten grandchildren, Mark and Anthony Clark, Jessica and Zachary Church, Desiree and Blake Tomkins, Jacob, Jason, Jaclyn Tomkins, and Jonah Smith.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Marjorie Sheppard.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the Bethel Lutheran Church located at 701 3rd Avenue in Parkersburg, IA.

Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Dialysis Center or to the Jack Schuck Parkersburg Scholarship Fund in Jack’s name.

Richard Kenneth Buser
Born in Conesville on Jun. 25, 1935
Departed on Jul. 11, 2007 and resided in Conesville, IA.
Memorial Service: Monday, Jul. 16, 2007

Richard Kenneth Buser, age 72, of Conesville, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a long illness. A memorial service is being held at 6:30PM on Monday, July 16, 2007 at the Grace United Church of Christ on Washington Street in Conesville. The Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa was in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife; Bonnie Jean Buser, two sons; Richard Buser Jr. and his wife Irene, Jamey Buser and his wife Daphne, all of Conesville, his mother; Isabelle (McCormick) Buser, two grandchildren; Tiffany Lynn Buser and Cody Lee Buser both of Conesville, three sisters; Audrey Staley of Conesville, Joyce Wookey of Muscatine, and Jane Brenneman of Lone Tree.

His father, Lenox Buser, preceded him in death.

Richard was born on June 25, 1935, in Conesville. He was united in marriage with Bonnie Jean McCormick on August 8, 1960 in Muscatine, Iowa. They made their home in the Conesville area where Richard farmed and worked the land. To this union two sons were born.

Tiffany Marie Potter
Born in Davenport on Sep. 7, 1976
Departed on Jul. 3, 2007 and resided in Davenport, IA.
Service: Saturday, Jul. 7, 2007

One of heaven’s rarest gifts is to actually know an angel. Today heaven has called home one of its own. Always one to put the needs of others before her own, Tiffany truly is an angel. A beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Tiffany will be missed dearly by all whose life she touched. We will miss you, Sis; farewell.

Tiffany lived each day to its fullest. She enjoyed photography, reading, sudoku puzzles and loved designing and creating stained and fused glass projects. Tiffany loved being outdoors communing with nature and took appreciation in God’s marvels and creatures. Tiffany absolutely thought that her niece and nephew are two of God’s greatest creations. One of Tiffany’s greatest loves was her Labrador Sammyson who was her constant companion through many difficult times.

The family would like to thank Gilda’s club for their kindness and support. To John, Pat and Adrian at Glass Heritage, Tiffany loves you all and you will always be family. To Tiffany’s NA family – you know what you’ve meant to her. We know she would want you to do God’s will and remain on the path joyous, happy, and free. We would also like to thank the nursing staff at both the University of Iowa Hospitals and the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for all the care and compassion you’ve shown not only to Tiffany but to her family as well. Finally, we would like to thank a very special friend, Greg Drury. Greg has been a constant caretaker of Tiffany and Lisa’s animals and household and has always given of himself to help in time of need.

Tiffany is survived by her wife Lisa Rodriguez, parents Matthew and Joan Behm and Lawrence D. “Skip” Potter, brothers Steven and Logan Potter, sisters Cary and Tara, niece Madison Potter and nephew Jackson Potter.

Memorials may be made for Tiffany under the name of Joan Behm at the Family Credit Union.

Tiffany’s family will greet friends beginning at noon on Saturday, July 7, 2007 to be followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, Davenport, Iowa.

John Frederick Milne
Born in Dysart, IA on Dec. 10, 1930
Departed on Jun. 30, 2007 and resided in Waterloo, IA.
Visitation: Monday, Jul. 2, 2007
Service: Tuesday, Jul. 3, 2007
Family Gathering: Monday, Jul. 2, 2007

John Frederick Milne, age 76, of Waterloo, Iowa, died on June 30, 2007, at his home due to a long illness. A visitation, with the family present, will be held at the Cedar Valley Community Church, 3520 Ansborough Ave, in Waterloo, from 5-8PM on Monday, July 2, 2007 . A memorial service will be held at Cedar Valley Community Church on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 beginning at 3PM.

Survivors of John include his wife Frances, his children; John Jr. “Jack” Milne of Dysart, Iowa, Terry Lynn and wife Susan of Las Vegas, Nevada, Madonna Hemesath of Laporte City, Iowa, and Pamela Hinders and husband Curt of Dysart, Iowa, step-children; Jon Thorson and wife Lise of San Diego, California, Teresa Beverly of San Antonio, Texas, and Michelle Sears and husband Michael of Charlotte, North Carolina, and sixteen grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two sons; Steven Milne and Joseph Milne, a daughter; Ann Milne, and two brothers; Rex Milne and George Milne.

John was born on December 10, 1930 in Dysart, Iowa to John “Fred” and Marguerite (Boyd) Milne. He grew up in Dysart and graduated from high school there in 1949. He married Marcella Dvorak on October 4, 1949. To this union seven children were born. After graduation John farmed near Dysart for 25 years. He was also involved in insurance sales and was a coordinator of Adult Education Emergency Medical Systems at Hawkeye Tech. He was an active member in the Cedar Valley Community Church. John was united in marriage with Frances Louise Pike on July 8, 1988. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children, step-children, and all of his grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established in John’s name.
