Karen S. Marsh, 56, of 1435 George Dr, Marion, died Sunday July 6, 2008 in St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Services: Private. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Kelly Wasson of Wichita, Kansa, Lauri Minor of Marion, Jamie Marsh of Marion and Ryan Marsh of Cedar Rapids, her father, Robert Hart of Oaklahoma, her siblings, John Kaylor of Hiawatha, Bob Kaylor of Kansas and Gary Kaylor of Florida, her grandchildren, Jennifer, Amanda, Chrissy, Brianna, Sierra, Nathaniel, Alaynah, Bryce, Victoria, Issaibella, Ellianna and a great grandchild, Liberty.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Johnson and a brother, Rick Hart.
Karen was born February 21, 1952 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Robert and Hazel Hart. She was employed at Quaker Oats Company for 20 years. She enjoyed making crafts, candles and enjoying her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fybrosis Foundation.

Velma Elvira Miller

Velma E. Miller, 95, of Silver Pines Care Center died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Services: 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Craig Bex will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4PM to 6PM.
Surviving are a son, Larry Miller Mary of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Sandy, Kerry and Kelley; 6 great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 17 step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Fred; two sisters; and a brother.
Velma was born August 25, 1912 in Burlington the daughter of Charles and Beda Hedlund Lofgren. She married Fred T. Miller on November 25, 1938 in Burlington. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. Velma and her husband Fred pastored several churches together in the mid-west and the eastern states until his death in February 1987.

Mary E. Morris, 90, of 3040 County Home Road, Marion, died July 19, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at First Church of the Open Bible, 1911 E Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids. Pastor Dan Sanford will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery.

Survivors include her husband Orville; her two sons Billy Enyart and Rex O. Morris both of Marion; grandchildren Richard Enyart and wife Susan of Cedar Rapids, Dot E. Styre and husband Jon of Robins, and Larry Enyart and wife Trisha of St. Louis, MO; her sisters Elizabeth Selby, Evelyn Wheeler, and Kathleen Bailey all of Ashland, KY, and Betty Crooks of Cedar Rapids; her brother Henry Houck and wife Aline of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are her 7 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and her beloved dog Lisa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Lucille Blankenship and Martha Rodgers, and daughter-in-law Barbara Enyart.

Mary Ellen Morris was born May 29, 1918 in Catlettsburg, Kentucky the beloved daughter of John Henry and Goldie Darnell Houck. She was united in marriage to Orville William Morris on November 27, 1949 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She worked in the family home caring for her children, and family. She was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible for over 50 years. She greatly enjoyed time spent with her family, friends, and her church family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Joseph E. Miller
Born in Montezuma, Iowa on September 6, 1938
Departed on July 20, 2008. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Joseph E. Miller, 69, of 2556 M. Ave NW, went to be with his Lord Friday night, July 18, 2008, after a brief but courageous battle with lung cancer. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7 PM Tuesday at Sharon United Methodist Church. Friends may call at the church from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday. Graveside services and interment at 10 AM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Joseph was born on September 6, 1938 in Montezuma, Iowa to Melvin and Lauramay Foster Miller. He attended Montezuma High School in 1956 and then moved to Cedar Rapids. He worked at Collins Radio, Iowa Manufacturing, and Lefebure before he discovered his life's calling of sales. He enjoyed the challenge of the sales process and most of all, meeting and working with people.

Joseph married Linda Hite on May 25, 1985 and between them have four daughters that survive him, Kimberly Brad Courtney of Austin, Texas, , Lesa Spencer Keeton Sr. of Marion, JoLene John Peck of Vinton, and Heather Thad Childers of Evansdale, Iowa, a brother, Terry Miller of Virginia, and two sisters, JoAnn Speas of Grinnell, Iowa, and Kathryn Neal of Henderson, Tennessee, fourteen grandchildren, and seven greatgrandchildren. He will also be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jason Hite, and father and mother-in-law, Red and Colene Worth.

Joseph loved his family and life itself. This was evident in how he spent his time; photography, camping, restoring Maico motorcycles, and watching and feeding birds. His love of people was apparent in the compassion he showed to the 37 international students he and Linda hosted over the past 18 years. He enjoyed his involvement with Mission of Hope, always willing to share anything he had with those in need.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

Charles D. Parks

Departed on June 2, 2002. Resided in Marion, IA.

Charles D. Parks, 48 of 1490 Country Club Dr. Marion, died Sunday, June 2, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center after a sudden illness. Services at 10 AM on Wed. at King of Kings Lutheran Church. Rev. Leon Hauser will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday.
Survivors include his wife, Becky, two sons, Daniel and John both at home, his father and mother, Loren and Dolores Parks, four sisters, Angela Tesar and husband, Dean and Lois Simmons and husband, Kirk all of Cedar Rapids, Gloria Tesar and husband, Don of Mt. Vernon and Mary Whitters and husband, Matt of Hudson, Mass. Also survived by an aunt, Lois Rohman and husband, Bert of Metamora, ILL. and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann.
Chuck was born on Aug. 13, 1953 in Ft. Madison, the son of Loren and Dolores Vegalius Parks. He married Becky J. Wenndt on Dec. 6, 1975 in Cedar Rapids. Chuck was an order administrator at Rockwell-Collins for 24 years. He was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church and was Assistant Scout Master for Troop 360 for many years. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Chuck's name.

Kristin E. Ormond
Born in Dearborn on August 30, 1946
Departed on July 2, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Ia.

The family has requested private services.
Kristin Elise Soderquist Ormond, 63, of Cedar Rapids and The Villages, Fl. died of breast cancer on Friday, July 2, 2010 with her loving family at her side. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Kristin was born on August 30, 1946 in Dearborn, MI., to Charles and Barbara Soderquist. She graduated from Princeton HS in Cincinnati, OH. and earned her B.A. degree from DePauw University in Greencastle, IN., in 1968. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Upon graduation, she worked for the Ford Motor Company in Dallas, TX., as one of the company’s first female executive trainees in the country. Relocating to Cambridge, MA., she was employed by the Harvard Trust Co. It was there that she met and married her husband, Richard.
Kristin is survived by her husband of 40 years, Richard, their daughters Elise (Mark) Duesing and Jessica (Mike) Warmenhoven, granddaughters Madeline and Abigail Warmenhoven and grandsons, Matthew, Maxwell, and Mitchell Duesing all of Marion. She is also survived by a brother, Benson Soderquist (Susie) of Dallas, TX. and forever her best friend and sister, Susan Schreur (Jeffrey) of Grand Rapids, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family took great comfort in having Richard’s sister, Dorene Norton (Steve) for loving and supporting them during this difficult time, with Dorene being a hospice nurse.
Her greatest joy in life was her family and all the great times they had together. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her daughters to become lovely women and wonderful mothers to her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved and enjoyed.
Kristin and Richard had a rich life together. They enjoyed vacationing at their cottage in Grand Haven, MI., exploring and appreciating the great natural beauty of this country, and loving their many dogs over the years, most recently Mickey, Willie and Susie. She sang and performed with the Cedar Rapids Sweet Adelines for over 20 years including a performance at Carnegie Hall.
Kristin was sorry to leave her husband and family so soon, but hopes that she instilled in them her love of reading, music, landscape design, knowledge of insignificant and inconsequential facts, and a quirky sense of humor.

Charles L. Rowzer
Born in Topeka, Kansas on June 29, 1930
Departed on September 8, 2004. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Charles. L. Rowzer, 74, of 2821 Westwood Drive NW, died at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, Wednesday, September 8, 2004 due to complications of emphysema. Friends may call at Turner West Funeral Home Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be a private family burial at a later date.

Survivors include his wife Ruth; two sons, David of Ft. Myers, Fl. and Darryl Brenda of Cedar Rapids; and a grandson, Nicholas.

Charles was born June 29, 1930 in Topeka, KS to Charles and Alta Cowen Rowzer. He owned CR Data Products, Inc and retired in 1996. Charles was a member the Masons Fidelitas Lodge #364 of Fairfax, the El Kahir Shrine, and a former member of the Drum and Bugle Corps and the #101 Unit. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Thelma Kathleen McIntyre
Born in Nebraska City, Nebraska on July 3, 1910
Departed on July 30, 2008. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Thelma K. McIntyre, 98, of 708 L Street SW, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by her loving family following a lingering illness. Graveside Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery, Mt. Moriah Section. Chaplain Joe Kane with Hospice of Mercy will officiate. Friends are invited to a reception at Concordia Lutheran Church at 1:00 PM on Saturday. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include her children Richard McIntyre and wife Grace of Cottonwood, AZ, Dorothy Chester, Don McIntyre, and Jackie Floerchinger and husband Ron all of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are her 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elmer H. McIntyre, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, a son in law Delmar Chester, daughter in law Betty McIntyre, and 2 great grandchildren.

Thelma Kathleen McIntyre was born July 3, 1910 in Nebraska City, Nebraska the beloved daughter of Willard and Alice Burton Joiner. She was united in marriage to Elmer H. McIntyre on April 23, 1925 in Sidney, Iowa; he preceded her in death on July 2, 1973. She greatly enjoyed her time spent with family and friends at her cabin on the Iowa River. She also was an animal lover who was very close to her dogs. She enjoyed reading, chocolate, and above all the time she spent with her beloved family. She will be greatly missed by her family, but forever cherished in their memories. Her 98 years on earth was a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff of Hospice of Mercy, caregivers Brook, Amanda, Joe, Mackenzie, Christina and Nicole, Tracy her housekeeper, Dr. Ghosh and Staff, and Lynette and Lesta.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Thelma's honor are to be made to Hospice of Mercy, The Anna Purna Ghosh Foundation, or to your local animal shelter of choice.
