Geraldine "Jerry" D. Wheeler, 85, of 1504 – 10th Street NW, died at St. Luke's Hospital, Thursday, September 11, 2008, after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Jonathan Offt of Trinity Lutheran Church. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and after 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Chapel of Memories. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include three sons, Ronald, Terry special friend, Jerre, and Dean Cathy Wheeler, all of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, David, Dane, Dack, and Jennifer; four step grandchildren, Tonia, Jo Ann, Elizabeth, and Ursula; and 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert and a brother, Harold "Hod" Motley.

Jerry was born on February 19, 1923 in Cedar Rapids to Joseph and Mabel Gruhn Motley. She married Robert Wheeler there in June 24, 1942. She was a welder for Iowa Manufacturing during WWII and then was a bookkeeper for Dows Dairy. She was always a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Jerry was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary FOE #2272. Jerry was an avid bowler and a wannabe golfer. She loved to dance, garden, sew, and help her family and friends.

The family would like express a special thank you to her "adopted daughters" of 4 Central at St. Luke's Hospital, the doctors who gave her loving care, as well as the staff at ManorCare.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Raymond C. Westrom
Born on February 3, 1925

Raymond C. Westrom, 83, of Cedar Rapids died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the Integris Grove General Hospital in Grove, Oklahoma, following a short illness. Services: 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday from 4PM to 7PM.
Raymond is survived by several nieces and nephews; David Westrom Ellen, Shelley Sullens Ken, Lorri Provow Ed, Jeff Westrom Pam, Joan Wilson, Nancy Hildebrand, many great nieces and great nephews; a sister-in-law, Maxine Westrom of Cedar Rapids; close friends, Mary and David Cotes; and several good friends..
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Harold, Donald and Herbie Westrom.
Raymond was born February 3, 1925 in Cedar Rapids the son of Albert Clarence and Retta Maude Corderman Westrom. Raymond attended Johnson Elementary School and was a graduate of Franklin High School. Raymond proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy as a cook on the USS Richmond. After his discharge from the U.S. Navy, he spent a number of years at the Roosevelt Hotel in different departments. He was an avid collector of antiques and other collections. He enjoyed giving tours of his homes where he had displayed his many collections. He loved to dance and spent many happy times at area ballrooms. He was a very friendly person, had many friends and will be greatly missed. Raymond was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and also of First Christian Church. He was a member of the Mt. Hermon Masonic Lodge #263 AF & AM and the Jim Beam Bottle Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, East Central Iowa Chapter.

Vida Cephelia Workman
Born in Sorum, SD. on February 19, 1919
Departed on September 26, 2008. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Vida Cephelia Workman, 89, a resident of Keystone Cedars, died there September 26, 2008 due to complications of Alzheimer's disease. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, September 29, 2008 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Gayle Wilcox and Chaplain Mike Patterson will officiate. Visitation will be held 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, September 28, 2008 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery.

Survivors include her three sons Norman Carole of Cedar Rapids, Harold LuRay of Naperville, IL, and Randall friend: Suzanne of Mangilao, Guam; her grandchildren, David Workman partner Eddie of Signal Hill, CA, Michael Angela Workman of Springfield, MO, Mark Susan Workman of Apex, NC., Danielle Szukala of Chicago, ILL., Richard Kristen Workman of Kokomo, Indiana, Laura Jake Taylor of Angola, Indiana, Lynette Charlie Hart of Noblesville, Indiana, Robert Workman of Naperville, ILL. and Sarah Workman partner Kieran of Corvallis, OR; fourteen great-grandchildren: Andrew, Kaitlyn, Josh, Claire, Christopher, Abigail, Lauren, Alexis, Orion, Aidan, Dylan, Laci, Tristan and Jordan.

She was preceded in death by her husband Norman in 1993; and her brothers Harold, Alfred, and Dana.

Vida was born February 19, 1919 in a sod house near Sorum, SD. She moved to Cedar Rapids in 1934, and was a resident for 74 years. She completed two years at Coe College, and later completed the Chicago School of Interior Design in 1958. She pursued multiple occupations, being a salesperson for World Book Encyclopedia, and Interior Decorator, and a Real Estate Broker. For many years she was active at Kenwood Park United Methodist Church. She enjoyed square dancing, playing bridge, crossword puzzles, crocheting, and time spent with her family. She was a strong believer in the great things an education can bring. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many who will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Vida's honor has been established.

Evelyn Maxine Wells

Evelyn M. Wells, 94, of Richardson, TX, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died September 27, 2008 in her daughter's home following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 3, 2008 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the Cedar Park Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery.

Survivors include her children Evangeline Cedillo and husband Victor of Cedar Rapids, Joel Wells and wife Barbara of Iowa City, Priscilla Payne and husband John of Richardson, Texas, and Paul Wells and wife Debbie of Agua Dulce, CA. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifford, sons Daniel and Benjamin, and daughter Jennifer Crowley of Marion, Iowa.

Evelyn Maxine Wells was born July 29, 1914 in rural Ryan, Iowa the daughter of James A. and Jessie B. Millard Dale. Named after Evelyn Nesbit Thaw by her mother, the first "super-model" in 1901. In addition to her 7 kids, she raised 2 more kids, Richard & George B. between the years of 1960 - 1970. Evy was born and raised on a farm, learned to play the pump organ and the piano by ear while in her teens, and played it all her life. She attended Franklin High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Clifford B. Wells on June 23, 1935 at the family home in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1985. For the majority of her life she worked from home caring for her family, as well as babysitting for other families. She was a member of Oakland Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and church activities.

Beatrice Emaline Wood
Born in Guernsey, Iowa on June 3, 1912
Departed on October 8, 2008. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Beatrice E. Wood, 96, a resident of Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, died there October 8, 2008 following complications of age. Graveside Services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, October 13, 2008 at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery, Garden of Eternal Love Section. Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church will officiate. Friends may call from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, October 12, 2008 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include her children Richard A. Wood and wife Janet of Cardiff By The Sea, CA, and Marsha Tschopp and husband Mark of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren Scott Wood and wife Heather of Escondido, CA, Mark Tschopp and wife Meredith of Springboro, OH, Michael Tschopp and significant other Rachael of De Moines, and Megan Tschopp of Jackson, WY; and great grandchildren Sydney Wood and Sam Tschopp.

She was preceded in death by her husband Delbert, and her parents.

Beatrice Emaline Wood was born June 3, 1912 in Guernsey, Iowa the daughter of Edward and Mabel (Johnson) Haag. She moved to Cedar Rapids and attended Cedar Rapids Business College. She was employed at Blaul’s Wholesale Foods from 1931 to 1944. She was united in marriage to Delbert E. Wood on September 10, 1932 at Rock Island, IL. He preceded her in death in 1996. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for many years, and was also a member with Delbert at the Elk’s and Eagles clubs. She greatly enjoyed playing bridge, pinochle, and scrap booking. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who will be greatly missed by many.

Mary A. Williams
Born in Clarence, IA on April 15, 1931
Departed on October 11, 2008. Resided in Marion, Iowa.

Mary A. Williams, 77, of Willow Gardens died there on Saturday Oct. 11, 2008 after a long illness. Memorial Service at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may register after Noon on Tuesday. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include three daughters, Sylvia (Jim) Blood of Marion, Sandra Barger of Swisher, and Amy Mcleoud of Marion; five sons, Clarence (Hermette) Burrows of Chesapeake, Virginia, David Burrows of Texas, Don Burrows of Marion, Kevin (Cindy) Burrows of Cedar Rapids, Charles Williams of Marion and one brother, Ellis Stonerook of Tipton. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and a sister, Sarah.

Mary was born on April 15, 1931 in Clarence, the daughter of Clarence and Beatrice Easterly Stonerook. She married Ralph Burrows in 1950. The were later divorced. She then married Charles Williams in 1960. He died in 1964. Mary worked in assembly at Rockwell-Collins and retired from there after 35 years of service. She also owned and operated Madon’s Restaurant in Marion for a number of years. She was a member of IBEW Local 1362. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, crossword puzzles and especially time spent with her family. Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Mercy in Mary’s name.

Helen L. Westendorf
Born in Mason City, IA on July 1, 1911
Departed on October 19, 2008. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Helen L. Westendorf, 97, of the West Ridge Care Center died there on Sunday Oct. 19, 2008 after a short illness. Memorial services at 3:00 PM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. James Wartian will officiate. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen (Bob) Drake of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, a son-in-law, Kevin Cahill, and friend, Doris (Dan) Heiderscheit of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Verna and a son, Galen.

Helen was born on July 1, 1911 in Mason City, the daughter of Barton and Verna Ladis Delts. She married Arnold Westendorf in April of 1932. He died in 1975. Helen was a homemaker and a charter member of the New Covenant Bible Church and a member of the Witwer Senior Center. A memorial has been established in Helen’s name.
