James W. Palmer III, 31, associate director in the Office of Annual Giving, died Jan. 16 [2000] in Chicago.
A memorial service was held at 3:30 p.m. Friday (Jan. 21) in the Jeanne Vail Chapel.
Mr. Palmer joined the Office of Development at Northwestern in October 1997. He worked with reunion classes and was responsible for the Parents Fund.
Ronald Vanden Dorpel, vice president for university development, said, "Jim was instrumental in revitalizing the Parents Fund and was much beloved by the Parents Fund volunteers."
Mr. Palmer served as president of the Vassar College Class of 1990 and was a member of the board of directors of the Chicago Vassar Club, the development committee of Windy City Performing Arts and the Windy City Gay Chorus.
He is survived by his parents, James "Wes" and Sue Palmer of Waynesboro, Penn., and a brother, John.
