Sherron L. Nottmeier, nee Crum, 74, of Waterloo, died April 11, 2011 in Waterloo. She was born Dec. 17, 1936 in Muncie, Ind., the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (nee Snyder) Crum. Mrs. Nottmeier is survived by her children, Sheri Oakes, Ralph (Virginia) Taylor and Eric (Evangeline) Taylor; and grandchildren, Ben and Paula Oakes and Grace Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver C. Nottmeier; and grandson, Brian Oakes. Mrs. Nottmeier was a member of Red Bud Church of Christ. Visitation is Friday, April 15, from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at Quernheim Funeral Home. A funeral will immediately follow with Pastor Dan Madrigal officiating. Mrs. Nottmeier will be buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Monroe County.

Scott Charles Beyer, 49, of Millstadt, died April 18, 2011 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville. He was born July 26, 1961 in Belleville. Mr. Beyer is survived by his mother, Patricia Beyer of Millstadt; his wife, Audrey (nee Jenkins) Beyer; a son, Ryan Beyer; mother-in-law, June Jenkins; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom (Rhonda) Jenkins, Jerry (Sandy) Jenkins, Jim (Dotty) Jenkins and Liz (Jeff) Biermann, all of Millstadt; aunt, Margaret (Curt) Sutton; and cousin, Steve (Pat) Reichling. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Beyer; father-in-law, Thomas Jenkins; nephew, James “Jimbo” Jenkins; and aunts Ann Schmittling and Jeanne Schuhardt. Scott worked for MasterCard International in O’Fallon, Mo. He enjoyed traveling with his family. Visitation is Wednesday, April 20, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Strauss-Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt. Funeral is Thursday, April 21, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Williams officiating. Mr. Beyer will be buried at Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa, Okla., or radio station JOY 99.1 FM of St. Louis, Mo.

James "Jim" Lewis, 59, of Columbia, died April 19, 2011. He was born Oct. 11, 1951, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of the late William and Virginia (nee Lewis) Lewis. He married Sue (Waller) Lewis in 1971 in Cahokia. In addition to his wife, Mr. Lewis is survived by his children, Joseph Aaron (Diane) Lewis of Waterloo, Michael Henry (Tracy) Lewis of Glen Carbon, Miranda Ann (Daniel) Stewart of Dupo, William Nathaniel (Tender) Lewis of Waterloo, 11 grandchildren, and siblings, Katherine (Clark) Vogt of Greencastle, Ind., Martha Schaub of Belleville, William (Kathy) Lewis of Pensacola, Fla., and Fran (Jim) Roedl of East Carondelet. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Danielle Craft. Jim attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia. He was a retired bus operator for Bi-State Transit Co. and later employed as a custodian at Immaculate Conception Grade School. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. Visitation is Thursday, April 21, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lawlor Funeral Home. Funeral is Friday, April 22, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia with Fr. Carl Scherrer officiating. Mr. Lewis will be buried at the church’s cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Eugene Schorb - Immaculate Conception School Education Fund.

Arnold Lloyd, 60, of Walker, Mo., formerly of Valmeyer, died April 19, 2011 in Kansas City. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (nee Wainwright) Lloyd; sons, Lee, Lloyd, Don and Patrick Lloyd; a grandchild, Eli Lloyd; brothers, Clarence, Marvin, Charles and Joe; sister, Jo Ann Lloyd. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Emzee Lloyd, nee Sweet; brothers, George, James and Robert Lloyd. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Steven P. Brown, 52, of Columbia, died April 20, 2011. He was born Sept. 18, 1958, in St. Louis, Mo. Mr. Brown is survived by his mother, Doris (Aulbach) Brown of Columbia; sisters, Linda (Gary) Wiederhold of Hallsville, Mo., and Kathleen Safriet of High Ridge, Mo.; a brother, David Brown of St. Louis, Mo.; and special friends Brock, John, Guy and Dave, and the Overman and Workman families; along with nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was also preceded in death by his father, Martin Brown; and brother-in-law, Roger Safriet. Steve was a machinist for Essex Industries in St. Louis, Mo. Visitation is Saturday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lawlor Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow. His body will be cremated. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Monroe County.

Victor J. Reichert, 83, of Columbia, died April 22, 2011, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville from complications stemming from cancer. He was born June 3, 1927, in Columbia, the son of the late Adam and Anna (Koskubar) Reichert. He married Orlou (Crowe) Reichert in 1947 in Columbia. In addition to his wife, Mr. Reichert is survived by his sons, Terry (Sharon) Reichert of Columbia, Rodney (JoAnn Diehl) Reichert of Kingston, Okla., and Dr. Kim (Lisa) Reichert of Belleville; a sister, Pearl Long of Springfield; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas, Edward, Adam, Elmer, Wilbert, Jacob and Isadore Reichert, and sisters, Adele Bieber, Jeanette Gerlach, and Lorraine Reichert. The family gives special thanks to Dr. Eldon Trame, M.D., Dr. Guillermo Rodriguez Jr., M.D., Dr. Carla Samson, M.D., Dr. David Wallace, M.D., and Dr. Bill Daily, M.D. for the excellent care they provided during Vic’s illness. Vic served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired as a printer with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Mr. Reichert served the City of Columbia as an alderman in the late 1980s. He attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus Council 6165. Vic was also a member of the Columbia American Legion Post 581, the Columbia Sportsman Club, Columbia Gymnastic Association (Turners) and Typographical Union Local 8. Visitation is Wednesday, April 27, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lawlor Funeral Home. Funeral is Thursday, April 28, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia with Fr. Carl Scherrer officiating. Mr. Reichert will be buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Eugene Schorb - Immaculate Conception School Education Fund.

Joyce P. Gruber, nee Todd, 68, of Waterloo, died April 22, 2011 in Waterloo. She was born July 9, 1942, in Bonne Terre, Mo., the daughter of the late Paul and Helen (nee Yarbrough) Todd. Mrs. Gruber is survived by her husband, Marvin Gruber; children Dawn Shields, Darren Gruber, Denise (Ron) Kinzinger and Devin (Elaine) Gruber; grandchildren Lindsay Shields, Summer Shields, Rory Kinzinger, Nate Kinzinger, Erica Gruber and Josh Gruber; great-granddaughter Zaylee Lloyd; and siblings Donald (Pat) Todd, Tom (Janet) Todd, Sharon (Al) Forrester, Ron (Teresa) Todd and Pam (Rob) Smith; along with sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by brothers John Todd and Kris Kerbel; sisters, Lois Todd and Carol Todd; and sister-in-law, Shirley Todd. Mrs. Gruber attended Christ Community Lutheran Church in Columbia. Visitation is Monday, April 25 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral is Tuesday, April 26, 10 a.m. at Christ Community Lutheran Church in Columbia with Pastor Jared M. Parker officiating. Mrs. Gruber will be buried at the Waterloo City Cemetery.

Frank Alvin Linnertz, 85, of Red Bud died Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Red Bud Nursing Home. He was born Dec. 7, 1925 in Renault, the son of Julius and Theresa (Auer) Linnertz. He married Ardell (Heller) Linnertz in 1951 in Renault. In addition to his wife, Mr. Linnertz is survived by his daughters, Marlene (Larry) Berg and Linda (William) Guebert, both of Red Bud; a son, Glenn (Ann) Linnertz of Red Bud; grandchildren Jennifer (John) Tepe, Kimberly (Chris) Walster, Tim (Beth) Berg, Corinne (James) Deterding, Dr. Carrie (Scott) Daigle and Scott and Karin Whelan; brother-in-law, Maurice Mudd of Waterloo; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Gilbert and Leoma Heller of Red Bud. He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Linnertz; and sisters, Margaret Linnertz and Mildred Mudd. Frank worked as a supervisor for DHIA for the University of Illinois. He attended St. John’s Catholic Church in Red Bud. Visitation is Tuesday, April 26, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Koch-Liefer Funeral Home. The funeral is Wednesday, April 27, at 10 a.m. at his church. Mr. Linnertz was buried at the church’s cemetery. Memorials may be made to masses or Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Frederick “Freddie” LeRoy Falk, 75, of Waterloo, died April 24, 2011. He was born Aug. 17, 1935, in El Dorado, the son of the late James Thomas and Virginia Rose (nee Howard) Falk. Mr. Falk is survived by his wife, Martha Carol (nee Harris) Falk; children, Thomas (Julie) Falk and Jerry (Denise) Falk, both of Waterloo; a sister, Donna Downey of El Dorado; and grandchildren Thomas and Lauren. He was preceded in death by a brother in childhood, Tommy Falk; and a son, Terry Falk. Mr. Falk was an auto worker at Chrysler. Services will be private.

James Dale Phelps, 54, of Millstadt, died April 28, 2011 at his residence. He was born Dec. 30, 1956 in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Edward and Henrietta (nee Ballard) Phelps of Dupo. Mr. Phelps is survived by his wife, Margaret (Jones) Phelps; sons Christopher (Elizabeth) Phelps of Farmington, NM., and Corey Phelps of St. Peters, Mo.; brother, Eddie Phelps of San Diego, Calif.; sisters Vickie Donnelly of Millstadt and Kim Jones of Maryville; and nephews Michael (Tracy) Donnelly of Millstadt and David (Rebecca) Donnelly of Rapid City, SD. Mr. Phelps worked for 37 years in the service department of White Castle. He enjoyed classic cars. Funeral is Sunday, May 1, at 2 p.m. at Strauss-Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt with Deacon Joe Weatherford officiating. A visitation will follow until 4 p.m. At James’ request, his body was cremated. Memorials may be made to the National Brain Tumor Foundation.
