Earl Breeding Sr., 78, of Columbia, died April 30, 2011 at Canterbury Manor Nursing Center in Waterloo. He was born Sept. 10, 1932, in Fults, the son of the late Alfred and Julia (Lee) Breeding. He married Mary Alice (Larson) Breeding in 1955 in Columbia. In addition to his wife, Mr. Breeding is survived by his sons, Earl Breeding Jr., Edward (Missy) Breeding Sr. and James (Tammy) Breeding, all of Columbia; a daughter, Lisa (Brian Mudd) Breeding of Red Bud; sisters Clara Lindhorst of New Athens and Doris Hurt of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters Pauline Moore, Ruth Dooley and Cinderella Schafer; brothers Paul, Silas, Raymond, Howard and Alfred Breeding; and a grandchild, Jimmy Breeding. Earl served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a Monroe County road commissioner and was a member of the Waterloo VFW Post 6504. Visitation is Monday, May 2, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lawlor Funeral Home. Funeral is Tuesday, May 3, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Allynn Walker officiating. Mr. Breeding will be buried at the Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery in Columbia. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of St. Louis.

Nichole Nicholson, 30, of Prairie du Rocher, died May 1, 2011 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. She was born Jan. 14, 1981 in Belleville, the daughter of John Nicholson of Ellis Grove and the late Carolyn (nee Rednour) Nicholson. In addition to her father, Nichole is survived by her children, John Murray of Red Bud, Carl Walsh of O’Fallon and Layla Walsh of O’Fallon; siblings Lori (Bill) Thomas of Lenzburg, Richard Mulholland of Red Bud, Georgette Smith of Prairie du Rocher, Cheryl (Arthur) Martin of Belleville and Don (Lisa) Nicholson of Jerome, Ind. She was preceded in death by her mother. Nichole was a waitress who attended First Baptist Church in Red Bud. Visitation is Monday, May 9, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Red Bud. A funeral will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks those attending the visitation to bring a non-perishable food item or bathroom toiletry to be donated in Nicki’s memory to the New Life Evangelistic Center of St. Louis.

Charles W. Donius, 77, of Prairie du Rocher, died May 7,2011, at his residence. He was born July 30, 1933, the son of the late George and Elenora, nee Schmitz, Donius. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce Donius; children, Debbie (Charlie) White, Mike (Jonella) Donius and Pam (Dan) Gregson; grandchildren, Cassie (Ryan) Cantrell, Danielle (fiancé Marshall) Gregson, and Andrew and Timothy Donius; and great-grandchildren, Caiden and Weston. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ludwig; brothers, Robert and Harold (Buddy) Donius; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Marie Roth; and a niece, Dawn Ludwig. Charles was a barber for 48 years in Prairie du Rocher. He attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church, was a member of the Rocher American Legion and served the community as a volunteer firefighter for 47 years. Visitation is Monday, May 9, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Koch-Liefer Funeral Home in Red Bud. Funeral is Tuesday, May 10, at 11 a.m., at his church. He will be buried at the church’s cemetery.

Robert J. Cole Sr., 86, of Waterloo, died May 8, 2011 in Waterloo. He was born Dec. 17, 1924, in Beaver Falls, Pa., the son of the late Malcolm and Pearl (McGonagall) Cole. Mr. Cole is survived by his sons Lynn Cole of Grantham, N.H., Robert J. Cole Jr. of Waterloo and Richard Mark Cole of Baldwinsville, N.Y.; a daughter, Carol Carlson of Stafford Va.; and a sister, June; along with numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Priscilla Cole; brothers, David and Bud; and a sister, Lenore. Mr. Cole was a member of St. Paul UCC and the Lions Club. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Pennsylvania. Memorials may be made to his church or to the Humane Society of Monroe County.

Evelyn Yvonne (Triplett) Haller, 83, of Waterloo, formerly of Columbia, died May 9, 2011 at Canterbury Manor Nursing Center. She was born Aug. 8, 1927, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of the late William and Leeta (Blackwell) Triplett. She married Kenneth Gene Haller in 1955 in Clayton, Mo. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Haller is survived by a daughter, Susan (John Syring) Schwarz of O Fallon; son, Mitchell (Kim) Haller of Waterloo; grandchildren, Kristin (Jeff) Egbert, Bradley Haller, Allison Haller, Barrett Schwarz and Janelle Schwarz; great-grandchild, Addelyn Egbert; a sister, Jeannine Morgan of Lake Jackson, Tex.; niece, Kristi Sue Davis of Lake Jackson, Tex.; and grand-nephew, Kyle Davis of Lake Jackson, Tex. Evelyn worked at Ameren U.E., attended St. Paul UCC of Columbia and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star 98 - Rob Morris Chapter in Fairview Heights. Visitation is Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at her church. A memorial service will immediately follow with Rev. Bob Goddard officiating. Her remains were cremated. A private interment of the remains will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the American Cancer Society.

Leola Evelyn Hulda Eichelmann, nee Gummersheimer, died May 9, 2011 in Waterloo. She was born Dec. 11, 1932, the daughter of the late Emil and Olga Gummersheimer. Mrs. Eichelmann is survived by her children, Brenda (James) Krebel of Columbia, Dr. Sandra Baldwin of Merriam, Kan., Carol (Raymond) Turnquist of Columbia, Kevin Eichelmann of Waterloo and Robert (Denise) Eichelmann of Columbia; grandchildren, Melissa (Andrew) Yontz, Stephanie (Gary) Francis, Brian (Michelle) Zipfel, Travis Eichelmann, Keri (Ivan) Peterson, Stacy (Jeffrey) Davis and Matthew Turnquist; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Cole, Owen and Jax Francis, Andrew Zipfel, Kaitlyn Eichelmann and Coy Davis; step-grandchildren, Christy (Craig) Reed and Jaylon Baldwin; step-great-grandchildren, Hunter and Gage Reed, and Haydn and Asher Baldwin; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, Sandra Gummersheimer, Willard Scheibe and Wesley (Dixie) Eichelmann. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Eichelmann; daughter, Linda Eichelmann; son-in-law, Dr. David Baldwin; grandchildren, Joseph and Patrick Krebel, Zechariah, Isiah and Daniel Turnquist; brothers, Leland, Emil Jr. and Harold Gummersheimer; brothers-in-law, Otto Eichelmann and Arthur Marquardt; sister-in-laws, Mildred Eichelmann, Arlou Marquardt, Opal Scheibe and Violet Gummersheimer; father-in-law, Roland Eichelmann; mother-in-law, Mabel Eichelmann; nephew, William Eichelmann; and step-grandchild, Angie Baldwin. Mrs. Eichelmann attended St. Paul UCC in Waterloo and was a member of the Waterloo VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, collecting salt and pepper shakers, genealogy and cooking. Visitation is Wednesday, May 11, from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at DeFabio Funeral Home. Funeral is Thursday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul UCC with Pastor Mary Beth Hartenstein officiating. Memorials may be made to her church, the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Southern Illinois or the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Bernadette Loretta McFall, 94, of Columbia, formerly of Crestwood, Mo., died May 10, 2011 at Columbia Convalescent Center. She was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Chicago, the daughter of the late Matthew and Mary Frances (Porter) McFall. Mrs. McFall is survived by a niece, Mary Anne (David) Spruell of Columbia; and great-niece, Megan Spruell of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Matthew McFall, Francis McFall, Mary McFall Hederman and Joseph McFall. Bernadette graduated from Visitation Academy of St. Louis in 1935. She was employed for 34 years as an office manager at Michigan Mutual Insurance Co. of St. Louis. She attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Visitation is Thursday, May 12, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lawlor Funeral Home in Columbia. Funeral is Friday, May 13, at 10 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia with Fr. Carl Scherrer officiating. Mrs. McFall will be buried at Calvary Cemetery in Saint Louis, Mo. Memorials may be made to the Visitation Monastery in St. Louis, the Immaculate Conception Church of Columbia Building Fund or Heartland Hospice of Fairview Heights.

Ida M. Dugan, nee Hornung, 101, of Waterloo, died May 10, 2011 in Red Bud. She was born Aug. 8, 1909 in Kidder County, N.D., the daughter of the late Ernest and Rosa (Swinger) Hornung. Mrs. Dugan is survived by her children, Mary Lou Draude, Edward Dugan, Georgia Fries and Joe Dugan; a sister, Laura Bovig; brother, Edgar Hornung; 22 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward R. Dugan; and a son, Raymond L. Dugan Sr. Mrs. Dugan attended SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo where she was active with the Mary and Martha Society. She was a life-member of the Waterloo VFW Post Ladies Auxiliary. Visitation is Sunday, May 15, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral is Monday, May 16, at 10 a.m., at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo with Father Osang Idagbo officiating. Mrs. Dugan will be buried at the St. Patrick Catholic Church Cemetery in Tipton. Memorials may be made to masses at her church.

Dale Wayne Rose, 73, of Fairfield Bay, Ark., died May 11, 2011 at his home. He was born Sept. 20, 1937 in Rock Falls, the son of Helen Audrey (Crossley) Rose and the late Joseph “Bud” Henry. Besides his mother, Mr. Rose is survived by siblings Robert (Jack) Rose, May Zemke, Randy Rose, Carole Rose and Linda Tempel. He was preceded in death by his father and Olive Crossley. Mr. Rose served in the U.S. Army and attended Christian Church in Tampico. After earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Education, he was a teacher and coach for more than 30 years in the Valmeyer School District. While at Valmeyer, he taught physical education and math before his retirement in 1994. Coach Rose was instrumental in starting the girls’ volleyball program at Valmeyer High School and was also involved in the other school sport teams and the Valmeyer community. In addition, he volunteered at the Ozarks Folk Center and was the assistant coach at Clinton High School. His mother always said, “He was one great son!” A memorial service will be held Monday, May 16, at 11 a.m., at Fairfield Bay Baptist Church. Arrangements were handled by Roller-McNutt Funeral Homes.

David Moore Sueme, died May 13, 2011 in Libertyville. Originally from Waterloo, he lived in the Chicago area for many years. He was born April 26, 1952 in St. Louis, Mo. Mr. Sueme is survived by his father, Joseph G. Sueme of St. Louis, Mo.; siblings Christopher R. Sueme (Denise) of Columbia, Jane Sueme of St. Louis, Mo., Joseph G. (Zana) Sueme III of Ashland, Ky., and Michelle (Jason) Randecker of Marble Hill, Mo.; nephew, Alex; and nieces Alaine and Leah. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida E. Moore Sueme of Canonsburg, Penn., who died in 1973; and his brother, Michael J. Sueme of St. Louis, Mo., who passed away in 1992. David was a U.S. Marine and who earned a Juris Doctorate degree from DePaul University College of Law. His interests included motorcycles, photography and tournament billiards. His remains were donated to science.
