Barbara H. Gidley nee Bagsby, 60, of Waterloo, died March 7, 2005, in Belleville. She was born May 5, 1944, in Red Bud, the daughter of the late John and Flossie Bagsby nee Cockrell. She was married to James M. Gidley. She is survived by her husband; daughter Tammy (Tom) Vogt of Fults; step-children Kathy (Mike) Kern of Dupo, and Marty (Connie) Gidley of Masa, Ariz.; granddaughter Megan Vogt; step-grandchildren Jamie Kern, Eric Gidley, Kenny Gidley and Heather Gidley; sisters Lucille Cissell of Evansville and Ann (Alfred) Dehn of Columbia; brothers William (Mary Epplin) Bagsby of Red Bud, Harold (Juanita) Bagsby of Columbia, James A. Bagsby of Belleville, John Bagsby Jr. of Dittmer, Mo., Rudy Bagsby of Fenton, Mo., and Leo (Janet) Bagsby of Buena Park, Calif.; and sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Claude Bagsby. Mrs. Gidley was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Renault. She worked as a laundry aide at Monroe County Care and Rehab Center. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. A funeral mass was at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Fr. Roger Karban officiating. She is buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Renault. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Renault.

Vincent “Vince” Ramirez, 66, of Columbia, formerly of Nashville, died March 6, 2005, at his residence. He was born April 23, 1938, in Swea City, Iowa, the son of the late Marcos and Mercedes Ramirez nee de La Cruz. He was married to Rosemary “Teddi” Ramirez nee Rice. He is survived by his wife; children Rhonda Kelly of Rocky Mountain, Mo., Allen (Rosa) Ramirez of Edmond, Okla., Kathleen Ramirez of Fulton, Mo., Robert (Corina) Ramirez of Collinsville, Bryan (Martha) Marshalek of Millstadt, David (Cam) Marshalek of Justin, Texas, and Keith (Tamara) Marshalek of St. Louis; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters Lupe (Gene) Simmons, Louisa (Bob) Palmer, Angie Ramirez, Julie Ramirez and Madeline Ramirez; and brothers Juan (Chris) Ramirez and Marcos (Sherry) Ramirez. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Jose Ramirez, Philip Ramirez and Sal Ramirez. Mr. Ramirez was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. He had served as pastor at Dewey Avenue United Methodist Church in Granite City and was pastor of the Latino Initiative of the Illinois Great River District. He was retired from A.O. Smith in Granite City and owned TIOS Transportation in Nashville. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services were at Bethany United Methodist Church. He is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church – Vincent Ramirez Scholarship Fund.

Sina C. Schaefer, 101, of Orange City, Fla., died March 8, 2005, in Orange City. She was born June 11, 1903, the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Schaefer nee Mueller. She is survived by nieces and nephews Helen Krone, John Kutz, Margaret Aukamp, Susanne Hale, Ruth Meister and Harvey Schaefer. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Amanda Heintz, Anna Schaefer, Freida Schaefer, Adele Kutz, brother Emil Schaefer and nephew Clyde Schaefer. She was a member of Women’s Fellowship of First Congregation Church in Orange City, American Rose Society, Arlington Rose Society, Potomac Rose Society, and volunteered in many children’s organizations. Visitation and funeral services were at Quernheim Funeral Services, Pastor Mary Beth Hartenstein officiating. She is buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be made to Kolmer Memorial Chapel Fund, St. Paul United Church of Christ Renovation Fund, or Excellence in Education.

James Guinn, 79, of Waterloo, died March 9, 2005, in Sparta. He was born October 23, 1925, in Bald Knob. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation and funeral services were at Quernheim Funeral Home. He is buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo.

Eugene H. Andres, 65, of Columbia, died March 10, 2005, in St. Louis. He was born October 11, 1939, in St. Louis, the son of the late Eugene N. and Agnes O. Andres nee Vogt. He was married to Linda Andres nee Schmidt. He is survived by his wife; children Natascha Andres of St. Louis, Gina Hirsch of Highland, and Julie Jakes of Highland; sister Betty (Kenneth) Meyer of Columbia; brother Larry (Patty) Andres of Valmeyer; sisters-in-law Charlotte Spence of O’Fallon, Mo.; brothers-in-law Kenneth (Jeri) Schmidt of Maeystown, and Orville (Beverly) Schmidt of Anaheim, Calif.; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Fay Andres and Marcella Sweeney and brother Gerald “Jerry” Andres. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He retired from Illinois Department of Transportation. He was on the board of directors of the St. Louis Strassenfest, started Columbia Jaycees Air Rifle Team, served as coach and member of Columbia Gymnastics, was a member of Columbia Senior Citizens and was a volunteer educator for Hunter Safety Course. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. A funeral mass was at Immaculate Conception Church, Fr. Carl Scherrer officiating. He is buried at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Columbia. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.

Robert E. Bush, 86, of St. Louis, died March 11, 2005, in Waterloo. He was born June 17, 1918, in Chicago, the son of the late Robert E. and Mae Bush nee Meduna. He was married to Jane bush nee Amann. He is survived by his wife, daughter Mary Louise Essen of Chicago, son John A. Bush of Chicago, grandson Eric Essen of Chicago, sister Lorraine Hahn of Chicago, niece JoAnn (James) McGinty of Crystal Lake, and cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Bush was a charter member of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church in St. Louis, and more recently a member of Cure of Ars Catholic Church in St. Louis. He was owner and president of Central Wire Iron Works, which was founded by his father-in-law. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served in Iceland and three campaigns in Europe. He belonged to the St. Louis Gateway Chapter of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge and was a member of Waterloo Country Club. He and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. A graveside memorial service was held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Juanita I. Farlee nee Frances, 67, of Vandalia, died March 11, 2005, in Waterloo. She was born June 12, 1937, in Annapolis, Md., the daughter of the late Albert and Anna Irene Francis nee Rumberg. She is survived by her children Lloyd D. (Sharon) Bass of Chicago, Sam Merritt (Shari) Bass of Orlando, Fla., Cindy D. Bass of Wisconsin, Boyd E. (Jeanne) Bass of Waterloo, and Carla F. Haezlip of Bunker Hill; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters Hazel (Clarence) Kearbey, Everett (Carol) Francis, Arthur Francis, Chester Francis, Lawrence (Phyllis) Francis and Benny Francis; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Adam Bass, three brothers and a sister. Mrs. Farlee was a member of First Assembly of God in Vandalia. Visitation and funeral services were at Quernheim Funeral Home, Pastor Don Mitchell officiating. She is interned at Valhalla Cemetery in Belleville.

Margaret D. Fesser nee Welten, 81, of Columbia, died March 12, 2005, in Belleville. She was born November 20, 1923, in Chester, the daughter of the late Herman H. and Margaret D. Welten nee Weinrich. She married the late Albert “Red” Fesser in 1954; her died in 1991. She is survived by her daughter Melinda (Roger) Floarke of Columbia; grandchildren Trisha Garrett, Austin, Sammi Jo and Samantha; and sister Alice McLaughlin of Chester. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Dolly Kettlekamp and brothers John Welton and Charles Welton. Mrs. Fesser was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbia, and was an avid bowler. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. Funeral services were at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Pastor Steven Theiss officiating. She is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church of the American Cancer Society.

Ray. W. Hohnbaum, 73, of Waterloo, died March 13, 2005, in Waterloo. He was born March 23, 1941, in Waterloo, the son of the late Arthur W. and Eleanora Hohnbaum nee Bode. He is survived his brother Eugene (Lillian) Hohnbaum of Waterloo, sister-in-law Alberta Hohnbaum of Waterloo, nephew Larry Hohnbaum, niece D. Laurel Yaeger, and great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Laurence Hohnbaum. Visitation and funeral services were at Quernheim Funeral Home, Pastor Steven Theiss officiating. He is buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbia or Lutheran Hour.

Maurine C. Davis, 84, of Waterloo, died March 14, 2005, in Red Bud. She was born December 4, 1920, in Cuba, Mo., the daughter of the late Thomas Wilson and Mary Roach nee Payne. She is survived by her husband Everett Davis, children Vera Moore and Richard Davis, grandchildren Scott Moore, Shannon Moore and Todd Davis, sisters Margaret White and Thelma Bennett, brother Jack Roach, and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brothers. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. A graveside service was held at Lewis Cemetery, in Lodi, Mo., Diane Gorham officiating.
