Geno Scariot, 85, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died March 14, 2005, in St. Petersburg. He was born February 23, 1920, the son of Siro and Nino Scariot. He was married to the late Elizabeth Scariot nee Mueller. He is survived by children Terry (Kathy) Scariot, Norman (Barbara) Scariot, Judy (Steven) Leisl and John (Mary) Scariot; sister Gloria (Clifford) Sanford and brother Elmer (Helen) Scariot; brother-in-law Milton (Florence) Mueller and sisters-in-law Frieda Voelker, Marie (Wilbert) Voelker, Ruth Fehrenz and Ada Mueller; and grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elizabeth Scariot nee Mueller, father- and mother-in-law George and Maria Mueller; and brothers-in-law Floyd Mueller, Harold Voelker and Oliver Fehrenz. A memorial service was held on March 26, 2005, at Hutchens Mortuary in Florissant, Mo. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Helen Marie Koonce nee Daraskavich, 82, of Waterloo, died March 18, 2005, in St. Louis. She was born July 22, 1922, the daughter of the late Paul and Laura Daraskavich. She was married to the late Donald Shadley Koonce. She is survived by daughters-in-law Jean Koonce of Edwardsville and Shirley Koonce of Kankakee; grandchildren Johnny Lee, Jason Shadley, Elizabeth Marie, and Rebecca Koonce; great-grandchildren Nathan Lee, Zachery Glen and Colten Koonce; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sons Paul Shadley Koonce and Michael Phillip Koonce. Mrs. Koonce was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo. She coached golf for Waterloo High School and in the summer league at the Waterloo County Club. She was also a member of the Illinois Teachers Association. Visitation and funeral services were at DeFabio Funeral Home, Pastor Mary Beth Hartenstein officiating. She is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Jebron C. Beatty nee Spain, 94, of Columbia, died March 19, 2005, in Columbia. She was born August 10, 1910, the daughter of the late Elise Spain and Etta Casen. She was married to the late John Beatty. She is survived by her sons Thomas (Norma) Beatty of Waterloo and William G. (Clara) Beatty of Red Bud; daughter Darlene Hunt of Grimes, Iowa; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister Imogene Stark of Collinsville; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons John Beatty and Jack Beatty; daughters Betty Lou Beatty, Ruth Ann Talbert and Dorothy Beatty; brothers Aruel Spain and Roy Spain; and sisters Marie Bartlett and Frances Green. Visitation and funeral services were at DeFabio Funeral Home, Pastor Ron Morgan officiating. She is buried at the Waterloo City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Dorma L. Hopewell nee Wakefield, 69, of Columbia, died March 21, 2005, in Chesterfield, Mo. She was born January 15, 1936, in East St. Louis, the daughter of the late Chester and Golda Wakefield nee Allen. She married Tommy Hopewell in 1953. She is survived by her husband; daughters Robin Weisenborn of Columbia, Cyndi Hopewell of Columbia, Lisa (Dan) Fallon of Waterloo; grandchildren Aaron, Ryan, Nicole, Courtney and Kylie; great-grandchildren Alexis, Reese, Jackson and Brooklyn; sisters Norma (Toby) Thompson of Columbia and Janet (Dick) Laxton of Columbia; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia, where she was active with many church functions including the Esther Sunday School Class. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. Funeral services were at First Baptist Church, Fr. Jonathan Peters officiating. She is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation, Susan Koman Breast Cancer Foundation or First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Noah Curtis Vanderver, 8 days, of Evansville, died March 24, 2005, in St. Louis. He was born March 16, 2005, in St. Louis, the son of Donald and Renee Vanderver nee Krack. He is survived by his parents; maternal grandparents Pamela and Curtis LaBrot of Waterloo, and Glen and Darla Krack of Renault; paternal grandparents Don and Carol Vanderver of Lonedell, Mo., and Judy Romaine of St. Clair, Mo.; and great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. A graveside service was held at St. John Cemetery in Fults, Pastor Darrell Jones officiating.

Bea Vivian Coulter nee Ramsey, 79, of Waterloo, died March 26, 2005, in Freeburg. She was born July 11, 1925, in Bonne Terre, Mo., the daughter of the late Clement and Florence Ramsey nee Carlson. She is survived by her children James Coulter Jr., Linda Cudd, Brenda Du Frenne, Gene Coulter, Pam Nickles, Thomas Coulter and Dean Coulter; 11 grandchildren; brother Stanley Ramsey; and sisters Blanche Bollinger, Bertha Dalton, and Bessie Thomure. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Margie Ann Coulter and sister Bernice Cucci. She was a member of World Wide Church of God in Belleville and had worked as a visiting nurse. Visitation and funeral services were at DeFabio Funeral Home. She is buried at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery in Farmington.

Elma Alberta Baumann nee Meyer, 86, of Columbia, died March 28, 2005, in Columbia. She was born April 13, 1918, in Valmeyer, the daughter of the late Robert and Zella Meyer nee Agnew. She married the late Walter Baumann in 1952. She is survived by her daughters Mary Jean (Albert) Diehl of Columbia and Cynthia Ann Baumann of Columbia; grandchildren Vanessa Diehl and Alex Diehl; sister Jeannette Kimmel of Prairie du Rocher; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters in infancy. Mrs. Baumann was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia. Visitation and a memorial service were at Lawlor Funeral Home, Pastor Michael Dixon officiating. She is buried at Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery in Columbia. Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia or Hospice of Southern Illinois.

David J. Mohl, 75, of Waterloo, died March 29, 2005, in St. Louis. He was born October 12, 1929, in St. Louis, the son of the late George and Jeannette Mohl nee Smith. He was married to Dorothy Mohl nee Mackey. He is survived by his wife; children Pam (Conrad) Majino of St. Louis, Dian (Mike) Bowry of Waterloo, Sandi (Ron) Stumpf of Waterloo, Mike Mohl of Waterloo, Cookie (Mike) Brightwell of Coulterville, Chuck (Melissa) Mohl of Waterloo, Ronnie (Larita) Mohl of Fults, and Robin (Fred) Otto of Waterloo; grandchildren David Stumpf, Rob (Amy) Stumpf, David (Melissa) Brightwell, Shaun Brightwell, Jason Brightwell, Michelle Mohl, Katlyn Mohl, Robert Otto and Tyler Mohl; great-granddaughter Alexis Stumpf; and step-grandchildren Ryan Otto and Ashley Otto. He was preceded in death by his parents, son David J. Mohl Jr., two brothers and a sister. Mr. Mohl was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the American Legion. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. A funeral mass was at SPPS, Msgr. Thomas Flach officiating. He is buried at SPPS Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be made to Diabetes Association or SPPS Church.

Brema E. Beck nee Hogendobler, 90, of Columbia, died February 11, 2005, in Columbia. She was born September 12, 1914, in Villa Ridge, the daughter of the late James and Minnie Hogendobler nee Redden. She was preceded in death by first husband, James E. Law, and second, husband Norman W. Beck. She is survived by her husband; son James (Rosemary) Law of Columbia; grandchildren Lisa (Scott) Gilbreth of Columbia, Steven (Angela) Law of Columbia, great-grandchildren Alex Gilbreth, Andrew Gilbreth, Jacob Gilbreth and Jeffrey Honeycut; and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Beck was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia. She had been a member of Order of the Eastern Star #597 – Monroe Chapter, Columbia Woman’s Club and Columbia Senior Citizens. Visitation and funeral services were at Lawlor Funeral Home. She is buried at Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery in Columbia. Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception School Education Fund.

Glennon F. Reinhold, 76, of Waterloo, died February 15, 2005, in Sun City Center, Fla. He was born February 25, 1928, in St. Louis, the son of the late Leo J. and Margaret Reinhold nee Fogelpole. He was married to Mary Jean Reinhold nee Cooley. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Audrey Reinhold nee Schmidt. He is survived by his wife; children Mark (Mary Kay) Reinhold of Waterloo, Ken (Shirley) Reinhold of Waterloo, Jill (Craig) Whelan of Prairie du Rocher, and Rick (Lynn) Miller of Stone Mountain, Ga.; grandchildren Laura (Adam) Frierdich, Katie Reinhold, Bethany Reinhold, Adam Reinhold, Alex Reinhold, Michelle (Chris) Freeman, Dane Reinhold, Joshua Whelan, Briahna Whelan and Jessica Sherry; great-grandchildren Elissa Freeman and Devin Freeman; brother Jerome J. (Jean) Reinhold of Edwardsville; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and his sister Sister Dorothy Reinhold A.S.C. Mr. Reinhold was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He formerly owned and operated Glenn’s Drive-In. He was a volunteer Waterloo Fire Department firefighter, a trustee on the Rural Fire Department Board, and a member of the Port Authority Board. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. A funeral mass was at SPPS, Msgr. Thomas Flach officiating. He is buried at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be made to Heart Transplant Association of St. Louis, Gibault Catholic High School or American Cancer Society.
