Clifton "Skip" Day, 41, of Jupiter, Florida passed away on Friday, December 7, 2001 in his residence.
He was born on October 27, 1960 in Decatur, the son of Clifton A. and Mary F. (Oary) Day. He graduated from Cowden-Herrick High School, class of 1978. He has been a resident of Florida for 20 years and was employed as a manager of a condominium in Old Port Cove in North Palm Beach, Florida.
A memorial service was held at 3:00 PM on Monday, December 10th in the Aycock Funeral Home in Jupiter, Florida. The Rev. Wayne Padgett of Crossroads Baptist Church of West Palm Beach Florida officiating. An inurnment service will be announced for a later date in Myers Cemetery in Herrick, Illinois.
Local services by the Wallace-Carroll Funeral Home in Herrick.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Day of Jupiter, Florida; daughter, Susan Gonzalez of West Palm Beach Florida; brother Tim Day and wife Shelly of Beecher City; brother Jim Day and wife Connie of Herrick; half sisters Sheryl Swearingen of Decatur, Jeannie May of Decatur, Patty Kaiser of Vandalia, Sue Kirgan of Bicknell Indiana, Debbie Lingafelter of Lovington; half brothers Chuck Day of Indianapolis Indiana, Larry Kirgan of Desoto; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

John W. Lowe
Shelbyville, Illinois
John Wesley 'Dub' Lowe, 71, of Shelbyville, died at 3:23 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2001 in Shelby Memorial Hospital, Shelbyville.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with Rev. David Middleton officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services, Friday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to American Diabetes Association.
Mr. Lowe was born on August 9, 1930 in Shelbyville, the son of Elmer D. and Rena L. Hagan Lowe. He was a graduate of Shelbyville High School, Class of 1949. He worked for Blaw-Knox Construction Equipment Company, Mattoon, Shelby Memorial Hospital and later retired from Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville.
Surviving are his brother, Leon Lowe and wife Mary Ann of Shelbyville; nephews, Charles Lowe of Shelbyville and Matthew Lowe of Dawsonville, Georgia; and nieces, Anne Estelle Shull of Holiday Shores and Mary Elizabeth Lowe of Jackson, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mary Hendrickson
St. Elmo
Mary Louise (Carroll) Hendrickson, 76, of St. Elmo died on Monday December 10, 2001 at 8:41 p.m. in the Shelby Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be on Friday at 2:00 PM. in the Kull Funeral Home in St. Elmo.
Visitation will be from Noon until service time on Friday.
The funeral home is located at 323 North Olive Street, St. Elmo 62458.
Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in St. Elmo.
Memorials may be made to the St. Elmo Park District or to the donors choice.
Mary Louise Hendrickson was born in Evansville, Indiana on September 23, 1925 the daughter of Thomas David and Macel (Cates) Carroll Sr.
She was employed by the Dixie Truck in Effingham until her retirement. She worked a number of years for the Stuckey's Carriage Inn as a cook.
She married Harold Overton Hendrickson in the First Baptist Church in St. Elmo on November 11, 1945, he preceded her in death on September 7, 1983.
Surviving are three sons, Jerry "Bud" and his wife Kathy Hendrickson of Edwardsville, IL; Charles and his wife Denise Hendrickson of Shelbyville, Rick Lee Hendrickson of St. Elmo; three daughters, Brenda Sue and husband Michael Werner, Dorothy "Dot" and husband Frank Cameron both of Shelbyville and Mary Beth and husband George Rollins of Sullivan. Two brothers, Carl and his wife Luella Carroll of Findlay and Orville Ray and his wife Marcella Carroll of Manito, IL. Fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers; George Richard Carroll, Sherrell "Sonny" Carroll and Thomas David Jr. and his wife Iva Carroll, one sister Hazel B. and her husband Oscar Schuster.

Larry J. Beck
Beecher City
Larry J. Beck 92 of Beecher City died at 6:05 a.m. Tuesday December 11, 2001 at his residence.
He was born July 9, 1909 in Fayette County, Herrick, Illinois the son of Lawrence and Molly Nowlin Beck.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Lockart & Sons Funeral Home in Beecher City with Masonic rites at 8:00 p.m. Burial in Buchanan Cemetery in Herrrick.
He was a member of the Beecher City Church of Christ and a 57 year member of the Clover Leaf Masonic Lodge #990 in Herrrick, IL. He was retired from the Loudon Pipeline Co..
He married Luella Bolt, July 2, 1934 and she died Jan. 11,1942. He married Lydia Childress Jan. 3, 1947 in Vandalia.
Surviving is his wife, Lydia; daughters, Bonnie Doty and husband, Robert, and Leila Wills and husband, Mike both of Beecher City, and Shelby Strickland and husband, Carl of Decatur; sons Richard and wife, Janet of Decatur, Mike and wife Jan of Jacksonville,FL. Ronald of Effingham, Dennis and wife, Wanda of Beecher City and Roger and wife, Rachel of Mt.Vernon; 15 grandchildren, 2 step granddaughters, 11 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Hessie, Lonnie, Benton and Pearl; sisters, Janie Cokenower, Madge Miller and Etta Horsman and step-grandson, Kameron.

Mary Ellen Gordon
Shelbyville
Mary Ellen Gordon, 81, of Shelbyville passed away at 2:40 A.M. on Wednesday December 12, 2001 in Sunbridge Care and Convalescent Center in Effingham.
Mrs. Gordon was born Jan. 15, 1920 in Shelbyville the daughter of Homer and Rose Munson Pound.
She was a 50 year member of the Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 Women's Auxiliary of Shelbyville and the First Christian Church of Shelbyville. She was formerly a telephone operator with the Illinois Consolidated Telephone Co.
She married Alva H. Gordon January 18, 1940 in St. Charles, MO and he passed away on November 4, 1975.
Surviving are one daughter Fiala Sands and friend Bill of Stewardson; grandsons Tracy Devore and friend Carla Gibson of Shumway and Tony Devore and friend Tina of Altamont two great grandsons Codey Devore and Corey Devore.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alva, her parents, grandson Rusty Devore and half sister Edith Yakey.
Graveside services will be held a 2:00 PM on Friday December 14, 2001 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Dr. Paul Pryor will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time on Friday in Lockart and Sons Funeral Home in Shelbyville.

Michael Smith
Windsor
Michael Charles Smith, 48, of Windsor died at 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday December 12, 2001 in the Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the First Christian Church in Windsor.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor.
Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery.
He was born on November 2, 1953 in Decatur the son of Thomas Earl and Wilma May Hale Smith. He was a 1971 graduate of MacArthur High School in Decatur. He was affiliated with the Windsor Christian Church and was a machinist with AMPAD in Mattoon.
He married Karen King November 20, 1975.
Surviving is his wife, Karen; son, Anthony Michael Smith of Mattoon; daughters Mary Ruth Smith of Tucson, AZ, Kaitlin Sue Smith and Jessica Jo Smith both of Windsor, mother Wilma of Decatur; brothers, Richard Smith and wife Carol of Earlville; sister Nancy Ruth Mizell of Decatur; ten nieces and nephews, one great niece; friends Larry and Betsy Burgess and David and Theresa Purcell.
He was preceded in death by his father. Memorials may be made to the family.

Grace Finley
Windsor
Grace Irene Finley, 86, of Windsor died at 11:10 a.m. on Wednesday December 12, 2001 in the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Coles County.
She was born on December 19, 1914 in Richview, Illinois, the daughter of Henry Fredrick and Nellie Grace Thompson Krietemeier.
She was a member of the Gays Christian Church.
She married Roy Finley on January 2, 1932 in Nashville, Illinois. He died April 7, 1970.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Krile and husband Melvin and Janean Carter and husband, Lawrence both of Windsor; son, Jerry Finley and wife Phyllis of Gays. Nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor with Al Krietemeier officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Burial in Branchside Cemetery in Gays.
Memorials may be made to Branchside Cemetery, Windsor Methodist Church or the donor's choice.

Nancy Ketten
Greenville
Nancy L. Ketten, 52, of Greenville died on December 12, 2001 at Barnes-Jewish Medical Center, St. Louis, MO.
Services will be on Saturday December 15, 2001 at 10 a.m. in the Greenville First Christian Church with Rev. Darryl Bolen officiating.
Interment in Mound Cemetery, Cowden.
Visitation is Friday at 5:00 p.m. at the Young Funeral Home in Greenville.
She was born on November 1, 1949 in Cowden, the daughter of Forrest and Marie (Beck) Banning.
She married Jerry L. Tomes on April 18, 1970 in Cowden, he died on December 23, 1996. She then married Jerry Ketten on December 5, 1998 in Greenville and he survives.
Mrs. Ketten grew up in Cowden, attended Cowden Schools and graduated from Cowden High School. She attended Lakeland Junior College in Mattoon, Illinois. She moved to Greenville in 1975. She had been employed at the Bond County Sheriff's Department and had last worked at Bass-Mollett Publishers in Greenville. She was a member of the Greenville First Christian Church. She belonged to the Tuesday Nite Ladies Bowling League and was also a member of the Country Echoes.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Ketten of Greenville; mother Marie Banning of Cowden; step daughter Mrs. Mike (Joanne) Suess of Greenville; step-son Jeff Ketten of Greenville; brother, Mr. LeRoy "Shorty" Bates of Oswego, Illinois; brother, Mr., Ralph Bates of Champaign; sister Rosemary Tull of Shelbyville; sister; Mrs. Don (Betty) Miller of Effingham; sister Mrs. Bill (Shirley) Meek of Cowden, she is also survived by three step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and brother Gene Bates.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Glenn Wright
Mattoon
Glenn L. Wright, 78, of Mattoon died at 7:26 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2001 in the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Coles Co.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home in Neoga with Rev. Steve Shepherd of Mattoon officiating.
Burial will be in Neoga Memorial Cemetery with V.F.W. Post #4325 of Mattoon.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2001 in the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home in Neoga.
Mr. Wright was born on October 5, 1923 in Coles County, the son of Walter F. and Erma J. (Montz) Wright.
He married Louise F. Tillman on June 5, 1943 in Columbia, South Carolina.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Tillman of Mattoon; son Leonard Wright and wife Shirley of Mattoon; brother Hollis Wright of Buda, Illinois; sisters Mrs. Nora Lindley of Neoga; Mrs. Donald (Patricia) Beals of Neoga; Miss Shirley Wright of Neoga; grandchildren, DeAnn Schoenaman, Debbie Williams, Jason Wright and Richie Smyser.
Eleven great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
He was a retired electrician at General Electric Company in Mattoon.
He was a W.W. II Veteran and Prisoner of War in the United States Army.
He was a member of the Mattoon Christian Church, the Eagles Club in Mattoon, the American Legion Post and V.F.W. Post #4325 of Mattoon.
Memorials may be made to Mattoon Christian Church.
