Virginia Irene Adams, 89, of Moweaqua, died on Tuesday in the Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield at 10:47 p.m..
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in the Seitz Funeral Home in Moweaqua with Rev. David Good officiating.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Moweaqua.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or Shelby County American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Adams was born on October 20, 1912 in Cowden.
She was the daughter of Jacob and Corda Christy Lockart.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Moweaqua and formerly worked as a waitress.
She married Orville Lee Adams on May 28, 1932 in Decatur. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1989.
She is survived by her son, Robert and wife Ruth of Pittsfield, Illinois; daughter, Wanda Lee and husband Bob Daddo of Kissimmee, Florida; brother-in-law, Gilbert Baird of Moweaqua, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother George Lockart and sister Wanda Baird.

Eleanor Sprinkle
Pana
Eleanor J. Sprinkle, 94, of Pana died on Monday December 24, 2001 in the Heritage Manor in Pana.
She was born April 7, 1907, the daughter of William Franklin and Ella Curry Mohr.
She was a homemaker and also farmed with her late husband. They later owned and operated Pana Liquor for 16 years.
She came to Pana as a child and lived there her entire life.
She graduated from Pana High School in 1925 and married W.H. "Henry" Sprinkle on December 245, 1934 in Poplar Bluff, MO.
She is survived by her sons Larry W. Sprinkle and wife Sharon of Washington, IL; Gary L. Sprinkle and wife Penny of Pana, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 2, 1997; 1 daughter Mary Kae in infancy; twin brothers Lowell & Noel.
Visitation is Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home in Pana.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 29, 2001 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Lawrence Gibson officiating.
Burial will be in Rosamond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond, Illinois.

Leona Brandt
Effingham
Leona S. Brandt, 81, of Effingham, died at 8:02 a.m. on December 22, 2001 in New Port Richie, Florida.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on December 28 in Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on December 27 in the Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson.
Burial will be in Stewardson Cemetery.
She was born on March 12, 1920, the daughter of William F. Quast and Dora Velpoe Elliott Quast.
She married Gerald G. Brandt in 1936, he preceded her in death in 1991. She was a homemaker most of her life.
She is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Allsop and husband Ralph of Cheyenne Wyoming. Anna M. Ervin and husband Markes of Sebastian, Florida.
She is also survived by her brother George Quast and wife Betty of Plainfield, Illinois and sisters, Louise Rohlf of Mattoon and Dorothy Camic and husband William of Windsor.
Her grandchildren, Monte Allsop and wife Pam of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Eric Allsop and wife Yavetta of Cypress, Texas and Markes Ervin III of Fort Pierce, Florida as well as 23 nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and 2 nieces.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Fund of Shelby County and the American Diabetes Association.

Rex McKittrick
Fort Wayne, IN
(Formerly of Shelbyville)
Rex R. McKittrick, 75, died on Monday at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.
Born in Shelbyville, he was an accountant with GTE for 13 years and retired in 1987. He also worked for International Business College for 13 years and was a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Lee Ann; three sons, Ladean of Bozeman, MI; Brent of Lynchburg, VA and Lynn of Indiana; two sisters Rosalie Borton of West Frankfort, Illinois and Louise Sisk of Tower Hill and one step grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday with calling one hour prior at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 4700 Vance Ave.
Visitation from 2 until 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd.
Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.

Orville "Dutch" Ruff
Monroe
(formerly of Shelbyville)
Orville "Dutch" Ruff, 72, of Monroe died on December 23, 2001. He was born on June 15, 1929 in Shelby County to the late Nellie Sarilda Davis Ruff and the late Edward Frederick Ruff.
Surviving are wife: Virginia Duffey Ruff of Monroe; daughters and son in law: Sarilda and David White of Monroe and Janet DeAnn Ruff of Ridgeville, SC; sons and daughters in law: Kim and Kathy Ruff of Jackson, Edward Ruff of Tucker and David and Carla Ann Ruff of Dallas; sisters in law: Mae Ruff of Decatur and Goldie Ruff of Des Plaines, IL; brother: Willie Ruff of Shelbyville; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and special friends: Susan D. Wilson and Valerie Ruff.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2001 at Walker Baptist Church with Reverend Tommy Pulliam and the Reverend John King officiating. Graveside service followed at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Jackson, GA. Pallbearers were: Tom Knox, Tommy Eidson, Matt Wooddell, Fred Bennett, Les Whisenhunt, Kerry Knox, Norman Wilkins and Dan Ruff. Honorary pallbearers were Walker Baptist Church Sunday School Class. Contributions can be made on behalf of Orville Ruff at Walker Baptist Church, P.O. Box 885/Hwy 11 Church Street, Monroe, GA 30655.
Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Earl Scrivner
Fort Myers, Florida

Robert Earl Scrivner, 71, died December 26, 2001 in Fort Myers, Florida. Mr. Scrivner was born in Decatur, he moved to Long Creek at age 11. He attended Mt. Zion High School. Mr. Scrivner retired as Co-Owner of Carll Grabb Motors after 38 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary L. Heddins Scrivner; sons, Robert L. Scrivner of Scottsdale, AZ., David W. (Nan) Scrivner of Chillicothe, Illinois and grandson, Jonathan.

Sister Mary Matthias Clarke
Springfield
Sister Mary Matthias Clarke, OP, 71, of Sacred Heart Convent, died Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at the Motherhouse in Springfield.
Sister Mary was born in Farmersville, Illinois on January 28, 1930 to Matthew and Lula Rowland Clarke. She entered the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters in 1949 and pronounced her religious vows in 1950.
In the years 1950-83, Sister M. Matthias taught in elementary schools in Chicago, New Berlin, Hampshire, Granite City, Peoria, Hardin and Rantoul.
From 1983-91, she resided in Arcola and taught religious education classes in the Shelbyville area.
During the last 10 years she served at the Springfield Diocesan Pastoral Center first as founder and director of the Catholic Pastoral Media Center and most recently as the diocesan archivist.
Sister Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Bridget Sue Clarke; and nephew Dennis Clarke.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Eileen Clarke Weitekamp of Morrisonville; a stepbrother, Bernard Benson of Joplin, Mo.; a brother, Patrick Clarke of Farmersville; 4 nieces and 5 nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she lived and ministered.
The mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21, at Sacred Heart Convent, and the burial will be on Tuesday.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation at the Motherhouse on Sunday, January 20, from 3:30-7:00 p.m. Wake service at 7:00 p.m.

Rosalie Grafton Long
Shelbyville
A memorial service for Rosalie Grafton Long will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2002 in the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville. A time for fellowship and food will follow the service in the fellowship hall of the church.
Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be at a later date in Adams Cemetery in Kelly, Louisiana.
Memorials may be given to Habitat for Humanity in Shelby County or Lincolnland Hospice.
Mrs. Long, 95, of Shelbyville, formerly of Kelly, Louisiana, died in her home, Thursday, January 10, 2002.

Harold Lloyd Pope
Herrick
Harold Lloyd Pope, 79, of Herrick, died at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2002 in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital, Taylorville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday January 15, 2002 in Christ Tabernacle, Herrick with Rev. Thomas W. Suey and Rev. Derold R. Doughty officiating.
Visitation from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville.
Burial will be in Myers Cemetery, Herrick. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
Mr. Pope was born on May 3, 1922 in Fayette County, the son of George W. and Rosa Lawrence Pope. He was a retired welding instructor for Lakeland College, Mattoon and a member of Christ Tabernacle, Herrick, where he served as a church board member for 17 years. He married Mattie Clark on November 16, 1940 in St. Charles, MO.
Surviving are his wife Mattie; sons, Duane Pope and wife Lorena of Mattoon and Bruce Pope and wife Debbie of Herrick; daughter Coral Dolan and husband Dan of Herrick; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and four sisters.
