Glen Hampsten

YALE - Glen C. Hampsten, 76, of Yale, died at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday (June 27, 2000) at Richland Memorial Hospital, Olney.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Barkley Funeral Home in Greenup. Burial with military rites will be in Yale Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 24, 1924, in Yale, the son of John and Dessie (Martin) Hampsten.

He married Jeanne Pumphrey in 1946; she survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Glenda Fritschle of Yale, Darlene LeMar of Lemont and Joyce Clayton of Charleston; one sister, Blanche Hall of Yale; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Mr. Hampsten retired as Grandville Township Road Commissioner after 38 years and was a farmer. He was a Marine veteran of World War II.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and Cummins United Methodist Church.

William Level

CHARLESTON - William Oscar Level, 88, of Champaign died at 6:15 p.m. Monday (June 26, 2000) at Carle Arbour Nursing Center, Savoy.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Markwell Funeral Chapel in Westfield, with the Rev. Roger Ross officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Westfield. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel in Westfield.

William McBride

WESTFIELD - William Russell McBride, 71, of Westfield, died at 1:04 p.m. Tuesday, (June 27, 2000) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. today at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, with the Rev. Gene Southard officiating. Burial will be in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery. Visitation will be until noon today at the funeral home.

He was born April 18, 1929, in Oakland, the son of Charles "Mac" and Gladys M. Taylor McBride.

He married Juanita Grissom in 1966; she survives.

Also surviving are four sons, William Charles "Bill" McBride of Little Rock, Ark., Chris Eugene McBride of Lenior City, Tenn., Jerry Paul of Casey and Bobby Paul of Westfield; two daughters, Georgia Ann Hardy of Casey and Peggy McDermott of Herod; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and one grandchild.

Mr. McBride was a retired carpenter. He was a former leader of the Casey Boy Scout Troop No. 84.

Sheila Piercefield

MATTOON - Sheila JoAnn Piercefield, 53, of Mattoon, died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday (June 27, 2000) at the SunBridge Care Rehabilitation Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Smyser Cemetery with the Rev. Jamie Havens officiating. Visitation will be held from noon until 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Schilling Funeral Home.

She was born Jan. 15, 1947, in Mattoon, a daughter of Jesse and Audrey Murphy Gross.

Surviving are three sons, Robert H. Hamilton Jr. of Mattoon, Rick H. Hamilton of Sullivan and Eric R. DeGroot of Hickory, N.C.; her mother, Audrey Wilken of Clarmont, N.C.; two brothers, Bill Gross of Danvers and George Gross of Mattoon; two sisters, Paula J. Spencer of Rhodhiss, N.C., Judy P. Dobbs of Mattoon; three stepbrothers, Kevin Wilken and David and Scott Wilken, both of Centralia; two stepsisters, Lisa Metcalf of Centralia, Dorothy Harvey of Mattoon; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her father.

She had been employed as a CNA for several different nursing homes.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the charity of donors choice.

William Pollard

GREENUP - William O. "Bill" Pollard, 89, of Greenup, formerly of Buffalo, Mo., died at 10:27 a.m. Wednesday (June 28, 2000) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Bishop Funeral Home in Greenup.

Frances Irene (Irby) Shirley

STRASBURG - Frances Irene (Irby) Shirley, 49, of Strasburg died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday (June 27, 2000) at her residence.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Harper-Swickard Chapel with the Rev. Jack Turner officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery north of Kansas. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral chapel.

Frances was born March 12, 1951, in Charleston, IL. The daughter of Rose Veach of Strasburg, IL. and the late Robert S. Irby.

She married Leonard Shirley May 29, 1999.

She leaves her husband Leonard Shirley of Strasburg, IL. Her Mother Rose Veach of Strasburg, IL; 3 Sons, James E. Veach of Strasburg, IL, Chad D. Veach - Wife Amanda of Strasburg, IL, Robert G. Veach - Dear Friend Lynette Dargis of Strasburg, IL; 2 Grandsons - Dylan Flick of Windsor, IL and Blake Bolin of Mattoon, IL; 4 Granddaughters Kayla Veach of Peoria, IL, Alissa Veach of Strasburg, IL, Tia Hilderbrand of Charleston, IL, Kira Veach, Strasburg, IL; 4 Brothers George A. Nash - wife Bobby of Humboldt, IL, Jim R. Nash & wife Shirley of Decatur, IL, Bill D. Nash - of Gainsboro, Tn., Robert McCauley - address unknown; 2 Sisters, Lawana Winsett of Nashville, Tn., Samantha Irby of Charleston, IL; 1 Stepdaughter Shelly Bolin, Mattoon, IL; 1 Stepson Gene Shirley of Ashmore, IL; Several Nieces & Nephews and very dear friends Earlene Lackey of Mattoon, IL Melody Rickleman of Mattoon, IL & Toby and Billy Brant of Charleston, IL.

Sisters Florence (Sue) Lewis, Father Robert Irby Stepmother Mary Irby, Stepfather James (Toady) Veach Grandparents Ella & Miller Livingston Belle Campbell & Frank Irby Preceded Her in Death.

She was a member of the V.F.W. Womens Aux. Post 1595 of Charleston, IL. She worked at Trailmobile, Blaw Knox; Drove a Semi Coast to Coast and was an In-Home Care C.N.A. Nurse. She loved Hunting, Fishing, Camping, Singing and playing her guitar. But most of all she loved her Husband, Family and Friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She has requested no flowers. She would rather anyone Donate to the Cancer facility where she stayed During Treatments in her memory. Hope Lodge, 1795 W. 86th St., Indianapolis, Ind. 46260.

Darrell Fraembs

MATTOON - Darrell G. Fraembs, 62, of Mattoon, formerly of Chester, died at 7:05 a.m. Sunday (June 25, 2000) at his residence.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Chester, with the Rev. Mark Willig officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Chester. Visitation will be 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Schroeder-McClure Funeral Chapel.

He was born May 31, 1938, in Chester, the son of Ervin George and Dora Eilers Fraembs.

He married Joyce Shaw in 1961; she survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Chester; two sons, Donald Fraembs of Fullerton, Calif., and David Fraembs of Lorado, Texas; one daughter, Deborah Fraembs of Barrington; one brother, Neil Fraembs of Las Cruces, N.M.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister.

Mr. Fraembs was a local delivery truck driver. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church of Chester.

Memorials may be made to the church or to the American Cancer Society.

Lamar Herschberger

ARCOLA - Laverne Ray and Lamar Jay Herschberger, infant twin sons, of Howard and Dorothy (Jess) Herschberger passed away at 6 p.m. Friday (June 23, 2000) at Provena Covenant Hospital in Urbana.

The funeral was Saturday at the family residence in Arcola, with Bishop Daniel Otto officiating. Burial was in the Miller Cemetery. The Edwards Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements. The twins were born June 23, 2000, at Provena Covenant Hospital.

Surviving are their parents of Arcola; grandparents, Omer E. and Susanna Marie Gingerich Jess, and Levi J.D. and Lizzie Ann Miller Herschberger, all of Arthur; great-grandparents, Ervin L. and Sovilla D. Kaufman, and Jess Sovilla E. Yoder Gingerich, all of Arthur.

They were preceded in death by paternal grandparents and maternal great-grandfather.
