Mary Yoder

ARTHUR - Mary Ann Yoder, 94, of Arthur, died at 4:45
p.m. Thursday (Aug. 23, 2001) at her residence.

The funeral will be 9 a.m. Sunday at the Adlia V. Miller
residence, rural Arthur. Burial will be in Otto Cemetery,
rural Arthur. Visitation will be anytime prior to the service
at the Miller residence. Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola
is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born Oct. 23, 1906, in Moultrie County, the
daughter of John C. and Katherine Herschberger Yoder,
and stepdaughter of Lucy (Miller) Yoder. She married
Lewis A. Yoder in 1929; he died in 1994.

Survivors include eight sons, Reuben Yoder of Sarasota,
Fla., John Yoder of Arthur, Floyd Yoder of Elgin, Joe
Yoder of Atmore, Ala., Elva Yoder of Goshen, Ind.,
Chrissie Yoder of Arcola, Monroe Yoder of Pooler, Ga.,
and Noah Yoder of Arthur; one daughter, Ella Miller of
Arthur; one brother, Noah Yoder of Arthur; six sisters,
Anna Plank of Sarasota, Fla., Ella and Drusilla Schrock,
both of Lovington, Mattie Schlabach of Arthur, Bertha
Gingerich of Arcola and Lovina Kauffman of Arthur; 33
grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, four
brothers, one sister, four grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.

Mrs. Yoder was a homemaker and member of the Old
Order Amish.

BRUCE ANDRES

R. Bruce Andres, age 85, of rural Humboldt, passed away
at 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2001, at his home
surrounded by his family.

Funeral services celebrating his life will begin at 2:00 p.m.
on Saturday at the Schilling Funeral Home with the
Reverend EthelMae Champ officiating, assisted by the
Reverend Joe Diener. Burial will be in the Rest Haven
Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
this (Friday) evening at the funeral home.

Bruce was born August 6, 1916 in Coles County, the son
of Edward and Rosetta Richards Andres. He married
Wilma Hance on October 8. 1938. She survives.

Also surviving is a son, Edward Andres and wife Linda of
Mattoon; a daughter, Linda Pierce and husband Ron of
Charleston; three grandchildren, Toni Andres Ratliff of
Mattoon, Amy Pierce and husband Jim Havlik of
Freeland, Michigan, Jon Pierce and wife Angie of
Emporia, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews. He also
leaves sister-in-law, Nellie Andres of Mattoon;
brother-in-law, James Purcell of Mattoon; sister-in-law,
Lois Ashworth and husband William of rural Mattoon; and
brother-in-law, Kenneth Hance and wife Doris of rural
Humboldt.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Delbert,
Clyde and Lee Andres; and six sisters, Grace Andres,
Minnie Young, Blanche Myers, Opal Molno, Lois Cobb
and Myra Purcell.

Mr. Andres was a farmer and a cattleman. He was a
member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cooks
Mills and a former trustee of the Church. He was a
member of the American Simmental Association, former
member of the Coles County Farm Bureau and a member
of the Illinois 4-H Foundation.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist
Church in Cooks Mills.

Evelyn Welch Charles

MARTINSVILLE - Evelyn L. Welch Charles, age 72, of
Martinsville, IL, died the morning of Wednesday, August
22, 2001 in her son's home in Shelbyville, IL.

Born April 13, 1929 in Auburn, IN, daughter of Earl and
Mildred (Kepler) Deter. She married Arthur Welch July 3,
1949. He preceded her in death. Sept. 23, 1971. She
married Robert Charles in Sept. of 1977. He died March
27, 1985.

Survivors include: 1 son, Steve Welch and his wife Alissa
of Shelbyville, IL; 1 daughter, Karen Venz and her
husband Curtis of Beardstown, IL; 2 stepsons, Robert
Charles, Jr. of Boulder, CO and Joe Charles of Barrington
Heights, IL; 1 brother, Keith Deter of Bradenton, FL; 1
Sister: Beverly Holse of Ashley, IN; 9 Grandchildren and
Great Grandchildren.

She was retired from 20 years as a Home Economics
Teacher at the Martinsville High School. She received her
degree from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN., and her
Masters Degree at Indiana State University in Terre Haute,
IN. After she retired, she received an LPN Degree from
Ivy Tech. College in Terre Haute with her goal to assist
others in need.

She was a member of the Martinsville, IL First United
Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Delta Kappa
Gamma Teachers Sorority and the Illinois Retired
Teachers Association

Funeral Services: 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 25, 2001
United Methodist Church, Martinsville, IL, Rev. Mark
Doane officiating. Visitation: 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Friday at the
Greenwell Funeral Home, Martinsville, IL. Burial:
Marshall Cemetery, Marshall, IL

Memorial Contributions to: The Martinsville United
Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Fund.
Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

JANE HALL

Jane Marie Rasmussen Hall, age 46, of Mattoon, passed
away at 11:48 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2001, at her
residence.

Private memorial services were held Thursday morning at
the St. John's Lutheran Church with the Reverend Bruce
D. Osborne officiating. Private burial will be in Sunset
Memorial Park, St. Louis, Missouri. The Schilling Funeral
Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Jane was born May 7, 1955, in St. Louis, Missouri, a
daughter of William John and Jean Marie Lutyens
Rasmussen Jr. She married Henry Hall Jr. He survives.

Other survivors include one son, Nicholas Ryan Hall of
Mattoon; her parents, William and Jean Rasmussen Jr. of
Charleston; one brother, William John "Bill" Rasmussen
III and wife Vicki of Mattoon; one sister, Joan Rasmussen
McConnell and husband Benny of Mattoon; and three
nephews, Jason McConnell, Matthew McConnell and
William John Rasmussen IV.

Mrs. Hall was a teacher with Community Unit 2 Schools
for about twenty years. She taught at both Lincoln and
Franklin Elementary Schools.

or Lincolnland Hospice c/o Schilling Funeral Home.

Marie Mann

MATTOON - Marie Matilda Mann, 81, formerly of
Mattoon and Pinckneyville, died Wednesday (Aug. 22,
2001) in the John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek,
Calif.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Bruno Catholic
Church with Father Trevor Murry officiating. Burial will
be in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 9
p.m. Sunday and after 8 a.m. Monday. A rosary will be
recited at 7 p.m. Sunday.

She was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Pinckneyville, the daughter
of Frank and Ida Feik Wesseln. She married James Joseph
Mann in 1941; he died in 1999.

Survivors include two sons, James Joseph Mann Jr. of
Alamo, Calif., and David G. Mann of Henderson, Nev.;
one daughter, Kathleen McLane of Neshanic Station, N.J.;
two brothers, John H. Wesseln and James Wesseln, both
of Crest Hill; four sisters, Irene Loos, Agnes Miller and
Clara Wesseln, all of Pinckneyville, and Ida Wesseln of
Visalia, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother and three
sisters.

Mrs. Mann worked for many years at the Mattoon
Garment Factory. She was a member of the Immaculate
Conception Roman Catholic Church in Mattoon.

Memorials may be made to the National Alzheimer's
Research Association.

Timothy Morrison

LOVINGTON - Timothy K. Morrison, 45, of Jacksonville,
formerly of Sullivan, died at 6:05 a.m. Wednesday (Aug.
22, 2001) in the Jacksonville Developmental Center,
Jacksonville.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the St.
Isidore Catholic Church, Bethany. Visitation will be 4 to 7
p.m. Friday at the McMullin-Young Funeral Home,
Lovington, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Burial will be in
the St. Isidore Cemetery, Bethany.

He was born Aug. 4, 1956, in Decatur, the son of Virgil
Joseph and Imelda Reedy Morrison.

Survivors include one brother, Larry Morrison of St.
Louis, and three sisters, Jane Mundy of Lee's Summit,
Mo., Margie Spencer of Plainfield, Ind., and Mary Ann
Coyle of Chesterfield, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Morrison was a member of the St. Isidore Catholic
Church, Bethany.

Memorials may be made to the St. Isidore Catholic
Church, Bethany.

Ernest Veach

MARTINSVILLE, IL - Ernest Lee Veach, age 59, of
Martinsville, IL, died at 8:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 22,
2001 in Memorial Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Born: November 7, 1941, in Casey Township, Clark
County, IL, son of Ira and Cora (Kemper) Veach. He
married: Barbara Van Houten, June 18, 1960. She
survives.

Also Surviving: 3 Sons: David Veach and his wife Janet
of Martinsville, IL, Jeff Veach and his wife Melissa of
Martinsville, IL, Eric Veach of Marshall, IL; 1
Daughter-in-law: Marie Veach of Martinsville, IL; 1
Brother: Bob Veach of Casey, IL; 2 Sisters: Wanda
Galeener of Martinsville, IL, Helen Sanders of Martinsville
IL; 7 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by 1 Son, James Veach, who died
August 4, 2001.

He worked at Trailmobile, Charleston, IL as a Supervisor
till 1986. He was a member of the Martinsville First Baptist
Church.

Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 25, 2001
Martinsville First Baptist Church Rev. Art Orndorff and
Rev. Terry Blanchard officiating. Visitation: 4:00 - 8:00
P.M. Friday at Greenwell Funeral Home, Martinsville, IL.
Burial: Blue Grass Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL.

Robert R. Rice

MATTOON, Ill. - Robert R. "Bob" Rice, age 67, of
Mattoon, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, August
22, 2001 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25,
2001 at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with Rev.
Robert Clark and Dr. Mark Prevo officiating. Interment
will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery with military rites by
Mattoon VFW Post 4325. Visitation will be from 5:00 to
8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Robert R. Rice, Jr. was born April 14, 1934 at Cooks
Mills, Illinois, a son of Robert R. and Lela Florence Hayes
Rice. He married Betty Lane on November 23, 1958 at
Mattoon. Bob is survived by his wife, Betty; a daughter,
Sheryl Baugher and her husband Jason of Toledo; a
grandson, Andrew Jason "A.J." Baugher of Toledo; one
aunt, Elizabeth Hayes of Mattoon; and two cousins, Roger
Hayes of Rockford, Illinois and Danny Hayes of Van
Nuys, California. His parents and one brother preceded
him in death.

Bob was a member of the First Christian Church, Eagles
and VFW Post 4325 all in Mattoon. He served in the U.S.
Army for eighteen months during the Korean Conflict.
Bob was a truck driver for over forty years, retiring three
years ago. He had worked for A & B Transfer, TMX and
Miller and Overton Trucking companies.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian
Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.

BILL GARVER

CASEY, Ill. - Bill E. Garver, 71, of Casey, Ill., passed
away at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Union
Hospital Terre Haute, Ind.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Markwell
Funeral Home, in Casey, with the Rev. Glen Rosborough
and the Rev. Dennis Steckley officiating. Burial will be in
the Casey Cumberland Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8
p.m. Wednesday at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey.

He was born March 17, 1930, in Clark County, Illinois, a
son of Corry A. Garver and Sarah Charlotte Deahl Garver.
He married Myrtle Sawyer on May 5, 1949, in Casey, Ill.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Garver of Casey; two
sons, William "Billy" Garver and wife Tricia of Casey and
John Garver and wife Retha of Westfield, Ill.; two
daughters, Janice McNurlan and husband Leon of
Martinsville, Ill., and Shirley Johner and husband Mark of
Warrensburg, Ill.; two sisters, Rogene Waldron and
husband Eldon of Peoria, Ill., and Audrey Parker of
Charleston, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Gene Bowers of Paris,
Ill.; 9 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jim
Garver; three sisters, Darleene Johnson, Wilna Bowers and
Ellen Gardner.

Mr. Garver was a retired farmer and a former Parker
Township Trustee. He was a member of the First Christian
Church and former member of the Westfield School
Board.

Richard Scribner

ARTHUR - Richard Eugene Scribner, 69, of Arthur, died
Monday (Aug. 20, 2001) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health
Center, Mattoon.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Findlay
Cemetery. The McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Arthur, is
in charge of arrangements.

He was born Feb. 26, 1932, in Findlay, the son of
Lawrence and Nellie Scribner.

Survivors include one son, Ernie Scribner of Arthur; three
daughters, Patti Reid and Helen Tidwell, both of Arthur,
and Winona Postlewait of Pierson; one sister, Shirley
Auten of Tuscola; 14 grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son and two sisters.

Mr. Scribner was a retired truck driver.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Ola Kingery

EFFINGHAM - Ola Belle Kingery, 78, of Effingham, died
at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 21, 2001) at her residence.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Bishop
Funeral Home in Greenup with the Rev. Marvin Oakley
officiating. Burial will be in the Jewett Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was born March 29, 1923, in Jasper County, the
daughter of Martin and Effie Etta Varvil Yaw. She married
James "Jude" Kingery in 1939; he died in 1997.

Survivors include one son, Martin "Red" Kingery of
Effingham; one daughter, Judith Dodson of Springfield;
two sisters, Imogene Houser of Indianapolis and Veva
Cain of Effingham; two grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by five brothers and five
sisters.

Mrs. Kingery was a homemaker and a life member of
Toledo Eastern Star 231.
