Anna Geers, 96, of Jerseyville, died Oct. 3, 1999, in Jersey Community Hospital. She is survived by a sister, Mary Geers of Jerseyville. Services were in Jacoby Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Geers 11/18/99
Mary Geers, 94, died Nov. 18, 1999, in Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. No survivors were listed. Services were in Jacoby Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given St. Francis Xavier Church in Jerseyville, and for masses.

Geiben 04/27/97
John T. Geiben, Jr., 88, died Apr. 27, 1997. He married Mildred Weil, who preceded him in death. Surviving are a step-daughter Norberta Jacquin of Wood River; a brother Joseph of West Alton, Mo.; and four step-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren and one step-great, great-grandchild. Services were through Burke-Fine. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association and for masses.

Joseph P. Geiben, 89, of West Alton, Mo., died Feb. 7, 2001, in Rosewood Care Center in Alton. He married Stella Steward, who preceded him in death. Surviving is a daughter Mary Mintert of West Alton. Services were through Fine and Quinn Chapel for Funerals in Alton. Memorials may be given for masses.

Marjorie M. Geisen, 78, of Alton, died Jan. 19, 1999, in Brighton. Her husband, Leo, Sr., preceded her in death. Surviving are sons, Leo, Jr., of Alton, and Harry of Edwardsville; a daughter, Marjorie Watts of Brighton; and a brother, Clarence Johnson of Alton. Services were through Staten Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.

Geisler 12/22/99
Charles T. Geisler, 46, of Chesterfield, died Dec. 22, 1999. He is survived by his mother, Mary; a son, Charles Miller of Carlinville; brothers, Henry and Jack, both of Medora; and a sister, Gloria Fitzgibbons of Jerseyville. Services were in Jacoby Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, and the Shipman Cemetery.

Gelsthorpe 12/22/99
Gary L. Gelsthorpe, 57, of Godfrey, died Dec. 22, 1999, in St. Louis University Hospital. He married Cindy Davenport, who survives. Also surviving are sons, Mark of St. Louis, and Matthew and Thomas at home; and daughters, Andrea of Mattoon, and Laura at home. Services were through Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Godfrey. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, Christian Appalachia Project, Crisis Food Center in Alton, and food for the poor.

Mildred E. Geltz, 94, of Alton, died Feb. 25, 1998, in Rosewood Care Center in Alton. She was a retired teacher, and had been principal of Irving School in Alton. She is survives by close friends and former pupils. Services were through Burke-Fine Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be given to st. Mary's School.

Mary Sue Gentry, 68, of Alton, died Sept. 26, 1998, in her home. Her husband, William, preceded her in death. Surviving are sons, Bruce Frazier and Lucian Frazier, both of Alton; a daughter, Sheri Gentry of Alton; and sisters, Kay Manning and Helen Lawrence, both of Mayfield, Ky.; and May Marks of Metropolis. Services were through Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton.

Irma D. Gerdes, 97, of Wood River, died Sept. 10, 1998, in V.I.P. Manor in Wood River. Her husband, Harvey, preceded her in death. Surviving are daughters, Patricia Marks of Wood River, and Myra Pickering of Finley, Oh. Services were in Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church in Wood River.

Virginia P. Gerhold, 90, of Godfrey, died Oct. 27, 1998, in Blu-Fountain Manor. Her husband, Allen, preceded her in death. Surviving is a brother, David Coleman of Alton. Services were through Gent Funeral Home in Alton.

Orville Gersman, 90, of Alton, died Feb. 20, 1999, in Alton Memorial Hospital. He married Juanita Meyer, who survives. Also surviving are sons, Jim of Worden, and John of Louisville, Co.; a daughter, Gail Williams of St. Louis; and sister-in-law, Leah Gersman. Services were through Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be given to charities of choice.

William G. Ghose, 63, of Kemper, died Jan. 21, 1999, in his home. He married Muriel Adeler, who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Donna Tarkington of Kemper, and Cheri Gwin of Greenfield; a son, Bryson of Florissant, Mo.; and a brother, James of Scottsdale, Az. Services were through Targhetta Funeral Home in Brighton. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association. C. E. Grills Calvin E. Grills, 72, of Alton, died Jan. 26, 1999, in Jersey County Community Hospital. He married Sandra Jackson, who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Juanita Braswell of Godfrey, and Terri Williams of Alton; sons, Danny Grills of Salt Lake City, Ut., Arlie Grills and Mark Gross, both of Alton, and Alan of East Alton; a sister, Gerry Dunn of Godfrey; and a brother, Dale of Bethalto. Services were in Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation, and First Christian Church.

Alta Evelyn Gibbs, 74, of Alton, died Oct. 29, 2000, in her home. Her husband, Arthur, preceded her in death. Surviving are sons, Richard of Alton, and Dennis of Tumball, Tx.; a daughter, Patty Bierbaum of Alton; and sisters, Pauline Barrow and Erline Wadlow, both of Arizona, and Betty Klopfer of Alton. Services were in Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be given to the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Foundation in memory of Andrew Arthur Dawson.

Giberson 05/10/97
Charles Giberson died May 10, 1997. He married Doris Burrows, who survives. His first wife, the former Helen Webb, preceded him in death. Also surviving are sons, Gary Giberson and Steve Taylor of Alton, and Charles Giberson of Rosewood Heights; daughters, Marsha Estes of Godfrey, and Cindy Burton of Medora; and 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services were in Elias-Smith in Godfrey. Memorials may be given to the Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Margaret E. Gibson, 90, of Plainview, died Aug. 26, 1999, in Carlinville Area Hospital. Her husband, George, survives. Also surviving are sons, Harold of Carlinville, George of Plainview, Bill of Girard, John of Gillespie, and Elmer of Foosland; and daughters, Evelyn Drew of Palmyra, Dorothy Taul of Brighton, and Mary Loy of Medora. Services were in Targhetta Funeral Home in Shipman. Memorials may be given to charities of choice.
