Indiana Marriages, 1780-1992

Shirley S. Crousore

June 2, 1937 – July 18, 2001

Shirley S. Crousore, 64, of Spiceland, died unexpectedly at home Wednesday, July 18. She was born June 2, 1937 in Henry County, a daughter of the late Leon and Evelyn Bradley Luellen.

She was a 1955 graduate of Spiceland High School and deputy clerk for Spiceland Corp. for 23 years. Shirley was active in Spiceland United Methodist Church for many years, and a member of Lewisville Home Ec Club. She was known in the area for her cake decorating skills.

Survivors include two daughter, Becky (husband, Mark) Pratt of Lewisville and Sharron K. (friend, Chad Leeka) of Springport; a stepdaughter, Robbie 9husband, Duane) Carver of New Castle; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service was held Sunday, July 22 at Spiceland United Methodist Church with Revs. Jeff Landon and John Ingermann officiating. Memorial contributions may be give to the Spiceland United Methodist church, 123 N. 2nd St., Spiceland, or Spiceland Alumni Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 274, Spiceland. Arrangements were made by Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service.

Mason Edward James Lines

June 27, 2001-July 27, 2001

Mason Edward James Lines, infant son of Jody Hampton and Andrew Lines of Knightstown, died Wednesday, July 27 at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Indianapolis on June 27, 2001.

Survivors include his parents; one sister, Shelby Hampton of Knightstown; a half-sister, Heather Wilson and a half-brother, Jay Lines, both of Oklahoma; maternal grandparents, Bill and Joyce Hampton of Knightstown; maternal grandmother, Kitty Schmutte of Maine; and paternal grandmother, Joan Browning of Oklahoma.

Services were held Saturday, July 28 at 2 p.m. at the Todd Funeral Home, Butcher Chapel in Knightstown. Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis with envelopes.

Virgil "Don" Meredith

Nov. 22, 1924 – Aug. 4, 2001

Virgil "Don" Meredith, 76, of Greenfield, died Saturday, August 4, 2001 at his home.

He worked at Irving Materials from 1956-1991, retiring as a foreman. He was a former member of the Greenfield Elks Lodge. Meredith was born Nov. 22, 1924 in New Castle, a son of Jabez Bailey and Doris Levan Meredith.

He is survived by his wife, the former Helen Litterer; two sons, Russell of Dunreith and Richard of LaPorte; his stepchildren, Deborah Harrison of Greenfield, Robert Smith of Alaska and Steven Smith of Fountaintown; a brother, Charles Meredith of Muncie, 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

There will be no services, however visitation was held Tuesday, August 7 at Pasco Memorial Mortuary in Greenfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Eleanor Irene Haynes

Jan. 5, 1937-Aug. 13, 2001

Eleanor Irene Haynes, 64, of Middletown and a former Knightstown resident, died Monday, August 13 at Middletown Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born January 5, 1937 in Raysville, a daughter of the late Omar and Audrey (Hoppes) Riley.

A 1955 graduate of Knightstown High School, Eleanor had been a self-employed real estate broker and had also been employed by Johnson-Dudley Real Estate. She was a member of the Knightstown United Methodist Church, Tri Kappa Sorority and a former member of the Knightstown Chamber of Commerce.

On July 2, 1955, she married Kenneth Morgan who preceded her in death on July 10, 1983. On January 11, 1992, Eleanor married Norman E. Haynes, who survives.

Other survivors are two sons, Scott A (wife Traci) Morgan of Knightstown, and Michael W. (wife Lisa) Morgan of Pendleton; two step-daughters, Sharon (husband Lewy) Harshman of Anderson, and Chris (husband Steve) Sheets of Middletown; three sisters, Glendolyn Hinkle of Knightstown, Helen Sipes of Greenfield, and Phyllis Graybiel of Shreveport, La.; four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and two step-great-granddaughters.

Services will be held Thursday, August 16 at 2 p.m. at the Todd Funeral Home, Butcher Chapel in Knightstown with Rev. Brian Campbell. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.

Visitation will be (today) Wednesday, August 15 from 4-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Knightstown Alumni Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

William Lee Egan

July 14, 1936-Aug. 10, 2001

William Lee Egan, 65, Rushville, died Friday, August 10, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Rushville. Mr. Egan was born July 14, 1936 in Rowan County, Ky., a son of the late Everett and Goldie (Buckner) Egan.

Mr. Egan was previously employed by Shares, Inc. in Rushville and was a member of the Salvation Army Church in Rushville.

Surviving are three brothers, Jack Wiley, Osgood, Donald Egan, North Vernon, and Paul Egan; one sister, Lucille Ryckman of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, two brothers, Eugene and Arthur Egan preceded him in death.

Services were held Monday, August 13 at the Todd Funeral Home, Butcher Chapel in Knightstown with burial in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation was from noon until time of services on Monday.

Thurston O. Logan

Nov. 20, 1913-Aug. 9, 2001

Thurston O. Logan, 87, of Columbus, died August 9 in Columbus. Several of his relatives live in the Carthage area. Logan was born Nov. 20, 1913 in Harris, Ky., a son of the late William M. and Renee Gilliam Logan.

Mr. Logan was a professional logger. He served in the Army during WW II. On November 8, 1942, he married Emma Hopson, who survives.

Other survivors include four daughters, Mary Louise Bourquein and Virginia Logan, both of Indianapolis, Debbie Dally of Seymour, and Ruth (husband William) Acton of Columbus; a son, Allen Logan of Columbus; two sisters, Erma Fookes, Baltimore, Md., and Julia Croddy of Laurel, Mich.; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, one daughter, one brother, four sisters and one grandchild.

Services were held at 2 p.m. August 13 at Voss Chapel in Seymour with burial in the Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Columbus. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post #1925, American Legion Post #89, Disabled American Veterans #47 and Vietnam Veterans #7, all of Seymour.

Visitation was Sunday, August 12. Memorials may be made to donor’s choice.

Anna F. Mozingo

Aug. 22, 1936-Aug. 15, 2001

Anna F. Mozingo, 64, died Wednesday, August 15 at her residence in Knightstown after an extended illness.

She was born in Waddy, Ky. on August 22, 1936, a daughter of Ray and Sarah New Klipsch. A former resident of Pennsylvania, Anna has lived in the area for the past 20 years. She was a homemaker and very active in assisting her husband, Rev. Melvin Mozingo in pastoring for the past 10 years at the Ogden United Methodist Church.

Anna was a member of the Ogden United Methodist Church and a member of Ogden United Methodist Women, Rushville District, of which she served as president for one year. She also belonged to the Loyal Order of Friends of Boyds and enjoyed collecting Boyds Bears. This loving mother also loved flowers, animals and gardening.

Besides her husband of 47 years, Rev Mozingo, whom she married June 25, 1954 in Greensburg, she is survived by one daughter: Freida (husband Duane) Albert of New Kensington, Penn.; two sons, M. Boyd (wife April) Mozingo of Greentown, and Randy (wife Carol) Mozingo of Tarentum, Penn.; five grandchildren; three sisters, Pearl Daily of Lexington, Ky., Jueilie (husband Don) James and Shirley Mayden, both of Jeffersonville; and one brother Tom (wife Barbara) New of Corinth, Ky.

Her parents and one brother preceded her in death.

Services were held Saturday, August 18 at 5 p.m. at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel, Lewisville, with her husband officiating. Visitation was held prior to the services.
