Mary Margaret Brandenberger

Mary Margaret Brandenberger, 51, of 3575 South 150 West LaGrange, IN died at 7:55 PM on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at her residence as the result of injuries from a farming accident while making hay. She was born May 27, 1957 in LaGrange, IN., to Joseph J. and Sarah Jane (Lambright) Yoder. On May 3, 1979 in LaGrange County she married Reuben E. Brandenberger. She was a Homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Survivors include her husband, Reuben E. Brandenberger and 4 Daughters, LuElla, Shirley, Katherine, and Marietta Brandenberger all at home; 3 Sons, Elson Lee & Laura Brandenberger of LaGrange, IN, Cletus and Wilbur Brandenberger both at home; Mother, Sarah Jane Yoder of LaGrange, IN; 6 Sisters, Emma Bontrager of LaGrange, IN, Barbara Kay & Henry Bontrager of LaGrange, IN, Katie Marie & Paul Brandenberger of Grabill, IN, Fannie Mae & Lavern Schlabach of Goshen, IN., Susie & Mervin Schmucker of LaGrange, IN, LuElla & Marlin Bontrager of Topeka, IN; 3 Brothers, Joe, Jr. & Sue Ellen Yoder of LaGrange, IN, William & Margaret Ann Yoder of Woodburn, IN, Freeman Jay & Betty Yoder of LaGrange, IN. She was preceded in death by father. Visitation will be after 1 PM Wednesday and all day Thursday at the Wayne Miller Residence, 3560 South 150 West LaGrange. Funeral services will be at 9:30 A.M. on Friday, June 20, 2008 at Wayne Miller Residence, services will be conducted by Bishop Martin R. Yoder and the Home Ministers. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, LaGrange.

Robert E. Miller

Robert E. Miller, 81, of 214 West Lawrence Street PO Box 269 Middlebury, IN died at 12:20 PM on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at his residence, he had been in declining health. He was born August 6, 1926 in Wakarusa, IN., to John and the Viola (Beck) Miller. On April 1, 1950 at Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church, Goshen he married R. Jean Miller. He had worked for the town of Middlebury from 1952 - 1965 serving as town Marshall; many of his old cohorts still called him sheriff. He operated the Standard Oil Station, Middlebury and worked for Syndicate Systems from 1965 until retiring in 1992. He served as the assistant fire chief for the Middlebury Fire Department and enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors. He was obsessed with the Chicago Cubs and collected different memorabilia. Survivors include his wife, R. Jean Miller and Son, R. Mitchell Miller of Middlebury, IN; 6 Sisters, Kathryn Stein of Elkhart, IN, Dorothy Lehman of Palm Bay, FL, Loraine Platz of Bristol, IN., Jeanne & Thomas Naylor of Bristol, IN., Marjorie & Donald Fisher of Howe, IN, Charlene & Ned Gates of Santa Rosa, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Gwendolyn Maas. Visitation will be from 3 - 6 PM Thursday at the Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 20, 2008 at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by Rev. Linda Craig. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury, IN. Memorials may be given to Middlebury Parks Department.

David K. “Frog” Crapo

David K. “Frog” Crapo, 45, of Constantine, MI. died at 10:33 AM on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Duke Memorial Hospital Peru, IN, of natural causes. He was born May 17, 1963 in Sturgis, MI., to Larry and Carol (White) Crapo. He had worked at McCoy Miller in Elkhart for 12 years. He was a NASCAR fan and was a US Army veteran serving 4 years with some of it overseas in Germany. Survivors include Parents, Larry & Carol Crapo of Constantine, MI; Daughter, Jessica; 3 Sons, Josh, Jeffery and Nathan; Sister, Susan & Gene McMath of White Pigeon, MI; Brother, William Crapo of Three Rivers, MI; Grandfather, William White of Marion, MI. Visitation will be from 9 - 11 AM Thursday at the Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury, IN. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at funeral home. Services will be conducted by Rev. Rick Lambright. Burial will be in Constantine Cemetery, Constantine, MI. Memorials may be given to church of the donors choice.

Ora C. Bontrager

Ora C. Bontrager, 85, of 1438 Bradford Court Goshen, IN., formerly of Shipshewana, died at 3:12 PM on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at the Greencroft Health Care Center Goshen, IN., after an extended illness. He was born June 21, 1922 in LaGrange County, IN., to Christian and Mary Ann (Miller) Bontrager. On December 21, 1945 he married Anna Kauffman, she died October 31, 1961. He then was married August 10, 1962 in Elkhart County, IN to Katie Eash, she survives. He had worked as the manager for Tools Unlimited, Honeyville and was the owner/operator with his wife of Bontrager Plumbing and Heating from 1960 - 1975 and Bontrager Hardware from 1965 - 1975. He later drove school bus for the Westview School Corporation. He was a former president on the Shipshewana Town Board and a member of the Clinton Frame Mennonite Church. Survivors include his wife, Katie Bontrager and Daughter, Deloris & Doug Hostetler of Topeka, IN; Son, DeWayne & Sarah Bontrager of Topeka, IN; 5 Grandchildren and Sister, Alice Bontrager of Topeka, IN. He was preceded in death by parents, his first wife, 2 sisters: Elizabeth Yoder and Inah Hochstetler. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Tuesday and 1 hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday all at the Clinton Frame Mennonite Church, Goshen. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 church. Services will be conducted by Rev. Terry Diener and the Rev. Jeff Mumaw. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to Clinton Frame Mennonite Church.

Rev. Marvin J. Miller

Rev. Marvin J. Miller, 80, of 1721 Greencroft Blvd. Goshen, IN. died at 11:43 PM on Monday, June 9, 2008 at Goshen General Hospital Goshen, IN., where he was admitted Saturday, he had been in declining health the past 7 1/2 years. Marvin had lived in Middlebury from 1978 to 2003. He was born April 18, 1928 in Nappanee, IN., to Joseph and Amanda (Smucker) Miller. On October 23, 1952 in Goshen, IN. he married Ruth D. Yoder. He was the founding minister of the Walnut Hill Mennonite Church, Goshen where he served for 25 years. He had worked at Smith Motors, Goshen and later worked for the Indiana Toll Road as a toll booth attendant. He was a member of the Pleasant Oaks Mennonite Church, Middlebury where he had served as deacon for several years and sang in the choir. He was a gifted musician playing several different instruments and enjoyed singing. He was a photographer and an avid Cubs and White Sox Baseball fan. Survivors include his wife, Ruth D. Miller and Daughter, Sandra & Douglas Miller-Givan of Crawfordsville, IN; 4 Sons, Dallas Miller of Elkhart, IN, Nathan & Diane Miller of Elkhart, IN, Arnold Miller of Goshen, IN., Anthony & Jackie Miller of Portland, OR; 10 Grandchildren and a Great Grandson; 2 Sisters, Fannie Mae & Marvin Miller of Goshen, IN., Elizabeth Tyson of New Paris, IN; 4 Brothers, Edward & Grace Miller of Elkhart, IN, Lester & Martha Miller of Toledo, OH, Eli & Connie Miller of Puyallup, WA, Joseph & Phyllis Miller of South Bend, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Mary Mathews and a brother-in-law: Erwin Tyson. Visitation will be from 2 - 4 PM Thursday at the Meeting House at Greencroft, Goshen and from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM Friday at the at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. Friends may also call an hour prior to the 10:00 A.M. funeral services on Saturday at the funeral home. The funeral will be conducted by the Pleasant Oaks Mennonite Church with the Rev. Rachel Nafziger-Hartzler officiating. Pallbearers for burial in Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen will be his grandson, Troy Miller, Kevin Miller, Craig Miller, Lance Miller, Chris Commans, Alexander Miller, Dylan Miller, Joel Givan. Memorials may be given to Home Care of Elkhart General Hospital or Pleasant Oaks Mennonite Church, Middlebury.

Anna M. Schrock

Anna M. Schrock, 93, of 1605 North 1150 West Middlebury, IN died at 7:05 PM on Friday, June 6, 2008 at her residence, after a brief illness. She was born January 6, 1915 in Shipshewana, IN., to Menno J. and Susie (Miller) Bontreger. On November 19, 1939 she married Samuel J. Schrock, he died January 10, 1995. She was a Homemaker and member of the Old Order Amish Church. Survivors include 5 Sons, Ernest & Emma Schrock of Goshen, IN., Eli & Mary Schrock of LaGrange, IN, Alvin & Ruby Schrock of Middlebury, IN, William & Loretta Schrock of Cambria, WI, Samuel & Ida Schrock of Cambria, WI; 6 Daughters, Susie & David Bontreger of LaPlata, MO, Lydian & Amos Schwartz of Pardeeville, WI, Katie Schrock of Middlebury, IN, Mary & Alvin Miller of Middlebury, IN, Lizzie & Harley Lehman of Goshen, IN., Fannie & Alvin Mishler of LaGrange, IN; 84 Grandchildren, 10 Step Grandchildren, 226 Great Grandchildren, 50 Step Great Grandchildren, 66 Step Great Great Grandchildren; Brother, Elmer & Lydia Bontreger of Shipshewana, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 grandchildren, a step grandchild, 6 great grandchildren, a step great grandchild, son-in-law: David Bontrager, 2 brothers: Eli & David Bontreger and 2 sisters: Molly Miller & Fannie Gingerich. Visitation will be after 3 PM on Saturday and all day Sunday at the family residence. Funeral services will be at 9:30 A.M. on Monday, June 9, 2008 at the Lonnie Lambright Residence, 1910 North 1150 West, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by the Bishop Samuel E. Bontrager and the home ministers. Burial will be in the New Pennsylvania Cemetery, Middlebury, IN.

Robert "Bob" G. Bell

Robert "Bob" G. Bell, 64, of 2035 North 700 West Shipshewana, IN. died at 5:41 PM (Indiana time) on Monday, June 2, 2008 at Sutter General Hospital Sacramento, CA, after an apparent heart attack. He was born November 15, 1943 in Des Moines, IA, to William G. and Ruth K. (Gray) Bell. On October 27, 1973 in Middlebury, IN. he married Joyce A. Herschberger. He was a truck driver for Logistics By Bontreger, Bristol, IN. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church and was a Corvette enthusiast. He served in the US Army as a truck driver in Germany. Survivors include his wife, Joyce A. Bell and 2 Daughters, Kathy & Donald Mattinson of Ogden, UT, Kristi Vandiver of Ligonier, IN; 3 Sons, Jake & Danielle Bell of Shipshewana, IN., Rob Bell, Idaho, Jim Bell, Utah; 16 Grandchildren and two great grandchildren; 2 Brothers, Don & Helen Bell of Buffalo, NY, Bill & Vicky Bell of Constantine, MI; Sister, Linda & Harry Sutherland of Constantine, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM Friday at the Miller-Stewart Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at funeral home. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Donald Chesher. Pallbearers for burial in the Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury will be Dan Schwartz, Steve Sabo, Dennis Kantz, Glen Jackson, Jerry Stansburg, Charlie Hedrick, Geoff Mullins and Tom Bontreger. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jeremy and Patrick Vandiver; Justun, Cody, Sean and Austyn Mattinson; Cullin and Ryan Bell Burial. Memorials may be given to the Michiana Baptist Camp, Shipshewana, IN.

Mary LuDean (Miller) Pelfrey

Mary LuDean (Miller) Pelfrey, 69, of 9155 West 350 North Shipshewana, IN. died at 1:20 PM on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at her residence as the result of strokes she had suffered the first of May 2008. She was born April 17, 1939 in Goshen, IN., to Reuben and Elizabeth (Hershberger) Miller. On August 8, 2000 in Emmalena, KY she married Ralph H. Pelfrey. She was a Homemaker and member of the Sturgis Evangelical Church, she enjoyed gardening. Survivors include her husband, Ralph H. Pelfrey and Daughter, Karen Marie Miller of LaGrange, IN; Son, Lavon A. Miller of LaGrange, IN; 5 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren; 2 Sisters, Orpha & Harry Weirich of Middlebury, IN, Nellie & Edwin Miller of Hutchinson, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Monday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Rodger C. Moyer. Burial will be in Yoder Cemetery, Shipshewana, IN. Memorials may be given to the Sturgis Evangelical Church or the Care at Home Hospice of Goshen General Hospital.
