Robert Dwight Bennington, 79

Robert Dwight Bennington, 79, of Connersville, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2006, at Lincoln Center West, where he had been a resident since 2005.

He was born December 20, 1926, in Sandusky, Indiana, one of four children of Paul and Ruby McDonald Bennington.

With his family he lived in Rushville and while a teenager he managed a restaurant in the Indianapolis area.

During WWII he served with the U.S. Navy, joining in 1945 and serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

On February 18, 1950, he was married to Marjorie Ellen Keith of Rushville and they moved to Connersville for residence in January of 1951.

On June 1, 1960, they were married for time and all eternity in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Los Angeles Temple.

Mrs. Bennington passed away May 2, 1985.

For 42 years he was employed at Stant Manufacturing, retiring in December of 1987.

For many years, he also owned and operated the Bennington’s Home Service.

He was self taught in plumbing, heating and air conditioning service.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served as an elder and in the branch presidency.

He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching basketball, football, tennis, and many other sporting events.

Survivors include two sons, Roger (Rhonda) Bennington, Randy (Debby) Bennington; two daughters, Robyn (Gary) Nichols with whom he had made his home since returning from Las Vegas six years ago, and Rhonda France; five grandsons, four granddaughters, a great grandson, four great granddaughters; two sisters, Ruth Bromegon, of Greenwood, and Pauline Ertle, of Greenfield; step-mother Eloise Bennington of Richmond; step-brother Wayne VanSickle of Richmond.

Beside his wife, he was predeceased by parents; brother Paul Henry Bennington; grandson Justin Dwight Nichols; granddaughter Malori Danette Holmes; four nephews, two nieces and several cousins.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home & Monuments in Connersville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, with Bishop Clair Johnson officiating.

Burial with military rites will be conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council in Dale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Whitewater Valley Chapter of Compassionate Friends or the C.E.C. Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

William H. “Bill” Carel, Jr., 90

William H. “Bill” Carel, Jr., 90, of Greensburg, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at Decatur County Memorial Hospital.

He was born on January 25, 1916, in Cincinnati, to Anna (Hinnenkamp) and William Henry Carel.

Bill married Elsie Black in 1969 at Las Vegas, and she survives in Greensburg.

He worked for the New York Central Railroad as a machinist and engine house foreman.

Mr. Carel was a member of the First Baptist Church; Masonic Lodge #666, in Irvington, Indianapolis; 32nd degree mason, Scottish Rite, Indianapolis, Murat Shrine Temple, Indianapolis; Greensburg Shriners Club, Greensburg Eagles, where he was a Golden Eagle, American Legion Post 129 and was a charter member of the Moose Lodge in Greensburg.

He enjoyed golf and dancing.

He is survived by: his wife, two sons, Jerome Carel, Racine, WI, and William H. Carel, III, of Davie, FL. Step-daughter, Linda McGinn and step-son Larry McCamment, both of Greensburg; sister Marge Hiatt, Kankakee, IL, and his brother John Carel of Cincinnati.

Nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.

He was predeceased by parents and one brother, Clarence Carel.

Visitation will be at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Friday, February 10, 2006, from 3-7 p.m.

There will be a Masonic service held at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Dr. Lee C. Riggs will be officiating.

Burial will take place in South Park Cemetery.

Memorial donations for Mr. Carel may be made to the donor’s choice.

Gilbert William John Nolte, 91

Gilbert William John Nolte, 91, of Dillsboro, Ind., passes away Saturday, March 4, 2006, at the Waters of Dillsboro Manor.

Gilbert was born in Dillsboro on July 14, 1914, and was a lifelong resident.

He was a farmer, and was very proud of his occupation, and gave many hours to farm related activities.

He was drafted during W.W.II, but came home within a year to raise his two nieces following the death of his brother.

He was former manager of Southeastern Feeder Auction, and a former Dearborn County Councilman.

He was the caretaker of St. John’s Cemetery in Farmers Retreat for 55 years, and a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat.

Surviving are his nieces, Elverda (Don) Kaiser, Lorene Westmeier, and Teresa (Patrick) Martini; many neighbors and friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat.

Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Ulrich-Filter Funeral Home in Dillsboro.

Interment will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. John's Cemetery Fund or St. John's Church organ fund.

Monford D. Tichenor, 95

Monford D. Tichenor, 95, Greensburg, Indiana passed away Monday March 6, 2006 at the Odd Fellows Nursing Home in Greensburg.

He was born September 26, 1910 in Greensburg, Indiana the son of James & Mary (Bushhorn) Tichenor.

He worked as a Material Handler for Bohn Aluminum where he retired.

Prior to working at Bohn Aluminum he worked at Arvin Industries in Columbus, Indiana.

He was a member of the Boondocks Horse Club.

He married Maryetta (Moore) Tichenor on February 17, 1936 in Greensburg, Indiana.

She preceded him in death on December 31, 1988.

Mr. Tichenor is survived by One daughter: Kay Baylis of Greensburg, Indiana, Four Sons: Daniel, Gerald, James, & Nathan Tichenor all of Greensburg, Indiana. 25 Grandchildren, 38 Great Grandchildren, & 6 Great Great Grandchildren also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, One Son: Lewis Tichenor, One Great Granddaughter: Ashley Charles, Six Brothers: William, Clarence, Oliver, Wesley, Alphonse, & Willard Tichenor.

Three Sisters: Alvera Stuehrenberg, Lillian Alexander, & Viola Brankamp.

Friends may call at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home Wednesday March 8, 2006 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM.

The funeral service will be held Thursday March 9, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home Greensburg, Indiana with Reverend Charles Tichenor officiating.

Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana.

Memorial contributions for Mr. Tichenor may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of the Funeral Home.
