Stephanie Lynn Short

Stephanie Lynn Short, 40, of Scottsburg, Indiana formerly of Commiskey, Indiana passed away at 3:00 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2009, at her residence.

Ms. Short was born on February 14, 1969, in Seymour, Indiana. She was the daughter of Danny and Patricia "Pat" Leveridge Short.

Ms. Short a former cook at the Breakfast Club in Paris, Indiana. She was 1987 graduate of Jennings County High School. She was a member of Coffee Creek Baptist Church in Paris Crossing, Indiana.

Surviving with her parents are a son Dakotah Pearson of Scottburg, Indiana; two brothers, Daryl Short of Paris, Indiana, Stephen (Sandra) Short of Seymour, Indiana; two sisters, Ruth (Mike) Manning of Commiskey, Indiana, Tanya Short of Scottsburg, Indiana; four nephews, Matthew and Christopher (Christina) Manning both of North Vernon, Indiana. Mason and Brody Short both of Seymour, Indiana; two nieces, Michelle Ayles of Scottsburg, Indiana and Carly Manning of North Vernon, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Thomas officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery in Jennings County, Indiana.

Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home for expenses.

Elijah Joseph Spicer

Elijah Joseph Spicer, 93, of North Vernon passed away at 11:05 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus, IN.

Mr. Spicer was born on July 2, 1915 in Nineveh, Brown County, IN. He was the son of Charles and Henrietta Sexton Spicer. He married his first wife, Ethel Wilson Spicer on December 24, 1937. She preceded him in death on July, 29, 1985. He married, Ruby Hill Rowe on November 23, 1985 in North Vernon, IN. She survives.

Mr. Spicer worked for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, IN for forty years retiring as an inspector in 1983. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in North Vernon, IN where he was a former Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Diesel Workers Union. He was a former Deacon and S.S. teacher at Wesleyan Church in Hope, IN and a former Hope Town Council Member. His hobbies were yard work, gardening, and reading.

Surviving with his wife are, a son, Kenneth (Sharon) Spicer of Plant City, FL.; Daughters, Helen (Charles) Graham of Hayden, IN and Alice Jerry George of Elizabethtown, IN; four step-daughters, Margaret (Don) Buscemi of Spring Hill, FL, Patricia (Patrick) Nugent of Providence, RI, Sharon (Raymond) Pearson of North Vernon, IN, and Linda (William) Whitaker of Hendersonville, TN; Twenty grandchildren, Chad, Matt, Timothy (Tina) and Tracy Pearson and Roger (Rita) Graham all of North Vernon, IN, Debbie (Doyle) Morgan, Leanne Reese, and Patty (Daren) Melton all of Columbus, IN, Janet (Chad) Zielesen and Joe Buscemi both from Spring Hill, FL, Jeff (Christy) Fritsch and Vernon George Jr. both from Elizabethtown, IN, Corey Whitaker of Hendersonville, TN, Beva (Rick) Barnsfather of Hope, IN, Brenda Kay Rogers of Seymour, IN, Terri (Kenneth) Miller of FL, Teresa Lamaster of Kansas City, MO, Criss (AJ) Spicer of Carrollton, KY, Lee (Angela) Spicer of Scottsburg, IN and Stephen (Tonya) Spicer of Austin, IN.; Thirty-two great-grandchildren and fifteen great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Ethel, a brother, David Spicer; a sister, Marietta Heady; four grandchildren, Robert Grider, Andrew Earl Pearson, Lori Ann Grider and Katrina Whitaker; one great-grandson, Matthew Spicer.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at First Church of the Nazarene in North Vernon, Indiana with Rev. Ryan Goode and Rev. David Huff officiating. Friends may call at Dove- Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home on Monday, May 11, 2009 from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana.

Memorials may be made though Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral to the Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

George Samuel Coom

George Samuel Coon, 82, of North Vernon passed away at 9:00 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2009 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Mr. Coon was born July 23, 1926 in Henry County, Indiana. He was the son of William Samuel and Minnie Hatfield Coon. He married Gail Burge on July 19, 1970 at First United Methodist Church in North Vernon, Indiana. She survives.

Mr. Coon was a welder and custodian with I.T.T. Industries in North Vernon, Indiana retiring in 1976 after 20 years. Prior to this he had worked for Goodyear Tire in Muncie, Indiana. He was a lifelong farmer. He was a 1944 graduate of Scipio High School in Scipio, Indiana. He served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1946. He attended First United Methodist Church in North Vernon. His hobbies included reading and traveling.

Surviving with his wife are two brothers, William Coon of New Castle, Indiana and Clyde Coon of Greensfork, Indiana; three sisters, Mary Margaret Wheeler of Brownstown, Indiana, Bertha Marie Coon of Sardinia, Indiana and Maxine Joan (Carl) Hayes of Hollandsburg, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

No Services are planned at this time.

Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund or the George and Gail Coon Library Fund through the Jennings County Community Foundation.

Fannie Marjorie Wettrick-Thie

Fannie Marjorie Wettrick Thie, 83, of North Vernon passed away at 12:43 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Kindred Hospital South in Greenwood, Indiana.

Mrs. Thie was born on November 27, 1925 in North Vernon, Indiana. She was the daughter of Thomas and Adah Haskell Detraz. She married her first husband, William Theodore Wettrick on September 17, 1944. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1990. She married, Raymond Thie on April 16, 2005 at the 1st Baptist Church in North Vernon, Indiana. He survives

Mrs. Thie was 1944 graduate of North Vernon High School in North Vernon, Indiana. She retired in 1990 as a teller from Citizens Bank (Home Federal) in North Vernon, Indiana. Prior she had worked at Muscatatuck State Hospital for 3 years and Berry Materials for 17 years in the office. She was a member of Scipio Presbyterian Church in Scipio, Indiana, St. Vincent Jennings Hospital Guild from 1992 till present, Smiling Senior Citizens and a former member of the 1st Baptist Church all of North Vernon, Indiana. Her hobbies included playing euchre, flowers, reading, bird watching and watching baseball.

Surviving with her husband are, one son, Richard (Margaret) Wettrick; a step-son David Thie of Hayward, Wisconsin; a step-daughter, Sandra (Garrick) Fong of Navoto, California; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Alan (Rhonda) Wettrick of North Vernon, Indiana, Terrance Wayne Wettrick of Scipio, Indiana; Several step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild, Zachary Alan Wettrick of North Vernon, Indiana; and one step-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, six brothers, Shirley, Loyal, James, William and Dwight Detraz and an infant brother. (No-name); five sisters, Murill Horstman, Emma Flick, Clara Belle Johnson, Louise Lewis, Juanita Detraz; two step-daughters, Patricia and Judith Thie.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitch Coggin officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to the St. Vincent Jennings Hospital Guild or Scipio Presbyterian Church Educational Building Fund.

Ruth Alice Large

Ruth Alice Large, 74, of Madison, Indiana passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Born January 1, 1935 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Duard and Gertrude Martha Roberts Litton. She was married to Arthur Large Sr. January of 1952 in Jennings County, Indiana. He precedes her in death.

Mrs. Large was employed at Dee's Woodshop where she and her husband worked 14 years until ending the business in 1980. She received her associate's degree in accounting from Ivy Tech. She also attended Vernon School in Vernon, Indiana. Mrs. Large was a member of the Manville Christian Church for 5 years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, crossword puzzles, and cooking.

Survivors include two sons-Arthur Large Jr. of Madison, IN, and J.W. Large of Indianapolis, IN; a daughter- Doris Inez Henderson of Indianapolis, IN; three brothers- Jake Mote of Versailles, IN, Gayle (Mary) Litton of Martinsville, IN, and Charles (Brenda) Allee of Nebraska, IN; nine sisters- Betty (Jerry) Wright of Indianapolis, IN, Patricia (Kelly) Clark of Westchester, Ohio, Roberta (Virgil) Meeker of North Vernon, IN, Juanita (Walt) Hoyt of Columbus, IN, Martha Osborne of Stockdale, TX, Cindy (Wayne) Vanosdol and Alice (Danny) Beach both from Holton, IN, Bessie Mullins of Bloomington, IN, and Christina Sue (Harvey) McDougle of Martinsville, IN; 22 Grandchildren; 24 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Large Sr.; four sisters - Karen Barrett, Drucilla Gearries, Ilona Hendricks, Dorothy Litton; 1 brother- Duard Litton; 1 daughter - Joyce Burton; 1 son - Danny Large; and her parents.

Funeral Services for Ruth will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2009 at Dove-Sharp and Rudicel Funeral Home with Rev. George Severn officiating. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Dove-Sharp and Rudicel Funeral Home and one hour prior to the Funeral service on Monday. Burial will be at the Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be given through Dove-Sharp and Rudicel Funeral Home to the American Cancer Society, Heart Association Diabetes Association and to the family to help with funeral expenses.

Patricia Kramer

Patricia Kramer, 69, of Seymour, Indiana passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at her home is Seymour, Indiana.

Born December 15, 1939 in Jennings County, Indiana she was the daughter of Willie and Josie McIntosh. She married Ernest Kramer on September 3, 1965 at the Coffee Creek Christian Church in Paris Crossing, Indiana. He survives.

Mrs. Kramer retired in 2007as head cook at the Pines Restaurant in Seymour, Indiana after being with the restaurant for 25 years. Prior to this she had worked for 20 years at Excello Shirt Factory in Seymour, Indiana. She was a member of the Crothersville Christian Church in Crothersville, Indiana. She enjoyed family time, yard ornaments and working in her yard, collecting angels and ceramic dolls.

She is survived by her husband Ernest; a son Tim (Lillie) Kramer of Brownstown, Indiana; a daughter Karry (Roger) McCauley of Stark, Florida; five brothers, Curtis (Karen) McIntosh of Nashville, Indiana, Steve (Gail) McIntosh, David (Sandy) McIntosh, Eugene (Joyce) McIntosh and Jack McIntosh all of Paris Crossing, Indiana; seven sisters, Judy Baker and Ileen Wetzel both of Seymour, Indiana, Henrietta Mettler of Elizabethtown, Indiana, Fran (Tom) Bratcher of Paris Crossing, Indiana, Wanda (Mike) Sullivan, Edna (Dick) Rockey and Birdie Adams all of North Vernon, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Kinsi, Kyle, Stephany, Suzzanna and Jennifer Kramer all of Brownstown, Indiana, Jeremy Shelpman, Zach and Devon Kramer all of Deputy, Indiana and Cheyenne Kramer of Austin, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson Tyler Kramer.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie McKinney officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home on Saturday, May 2, 2009 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service on Sunday. Burial will be in the Coffee Creek Cemetery in Paris Crossing, Indiana

Ruby Ann Copley

Ruby Ann Copley, 72, of Butlerville, Indiana passed away at 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at her home in Butlerville, Indiana.

Born February 20, 1937 in Ethel, West Virginia she was the daughter of Mart and Etta Hiles Brown. She married Ursel Copley on October 31, 1954 in Ethel, West Virginia. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1996.

Mrs. Copley was a homemaker. She was a member of Full Trinity Gospel Lighthouse in North Vernon, Indiana. She enjoyed shopping, camping and the outdoors.

Survivors include four sons, William (Traci) Copley of Seymour, Indiana, Harold ( Debra) Copley of Vernon, Indiana, Paul (Cathy) Copley and Randy (Becky) Copley both of Butlerville, Indiana; two daughters, Tina (Jerry) Neace of Crothersville, Indiana and Machel (Andrea) Scarberry of Butlerville, Indiana; two brothers, Danny Brown of Butlerville, Indiana, Marvin Brown of Zenas, Indiana; two sisters, Janet (Robert) Rader of Indianapolis, Indiana, Rose Schultz of Clothier, West Virginia; twenty-two grandchildren, Harold Copley Jr., of Man, West Virginia, Paul Copley of Boonesboro, Kentucky, Stephanie Neace of Sweetzer, Indiana, Katie Walton, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lori Samples of Nashville, Indiana, Missy Copley of Versailles, Indiana, John Fischer of Crothersville, Indiana, Christopher Copley of Holton, Indiana, Justin (Amber) Copley, Tim ( Amanda) Walton, Chrissy (Dustin) Marsh and Becky McCoy all of Seymour, Indiana, Sam Kuntz and Michael Neace both of North Vernon, Indiana, Jonathan Copley and Lyndi Copeland both of Vernon, Indiana, Paul and Hollie Copley both of Zenas, Indiana, Kayla and Austin Copley, Jordan and Trenton Scarberry all of Butlerville, Indiana.; twelve great-grandchildren, Jordan, Ryan, Tyler, Devin, Addison, Makayla, Shelby, Caleb, Mason, Cky, Brooklyn and Riley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ursel, 2 brothers, William Jr. and James Alvie Brown; three sisters, Betty June Pedunivac, Jenny Montgomery and Edna Witt.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, Indiana with the Rev. Claude Fouts officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home on Friday, May 1, 2009 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Butlerville Cemetery.
