Rollie Cecil Mobley

Rollie Cecil Mobley, 65, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 5:34 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2009 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon, Indiana

Mr. Mobley was born on August 24, 1943 in Corbin, Kentucky. He was the son of Arlie Eldon and Hazel Jane Ridener Mobley. He married Bessie Hall on May 9, 2003. She survives.

Mr. Mobley retired on June 1, 1992 after 13 years with General Motors in Indianapolis, Indiana as a forklift operator. Prior to working for General Motors he was a self-employed construction worker. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Unity Missionary Baptist Church both in Indianapolis, Indiana. He enjoyed fishing and he loved dogs and cats.

He is survived by his wife Bessie; four step-sons, Ronald (Tina) Brown of Cookeville, TN., Rickey (Rebecca) Holland, Donald (Cindy) Brown and Harry Brown all of Indianapolis, IN.; two step-daughters, Rosemary (Dan) Armstrong and Lori Hizer both of Indianapolis, IN. one sister, Lola (Dewey) Bunch of Corbin, KY; ten step-grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Peggy Bell Mobley and four brothers.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Green Meadows Lake in North Vernon, Indiana with the Rev. Edward Wooddell officiating.

Memorials may be given through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to the American Heart Association.

Ray William Morris

Ray William Morris, 81, of Dupont, Indiana passed away at 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Morris was born on November 29, 1927 in Dupont, Indiana to James William and Ethel U. Johnson Morris. He married Jane G. Heath on November 6, 1947 in Madison, Indiana. She survives.

Mr. Morris was a lifelong farmer; retired after 24 years as a rural mail carrier for Jefferson and Jennings County. He was a 1946 graduate of Dupont High School in Dupont, Indiana. He enjoyed baseball, basketball, coon hunting and bird watching.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, three sons, Johnny William (Judy) Morris, James Martin (Kerri) Morris and Daniel Joseph Morris all of Dupont, Indiana; a daughter, Janet Kay (Ben) Everitt of Lexington, Indiana; four grandchildren, Melissa (Paul) Vance, Amy Morris, and Sam Morris all of Dupont, Indiana and Dustin Everitt of Lexington, Indiana; four great-grandchildren, Brogan and Faith Vance, Paige and Bailey Quiggle all of Dupont, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Neva Y. Waggoner.

Graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2009 in the Dupont Cemetery in Dupont, Indiana with the Rev. William Ramey officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, Indiana.

Memorials may be given through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to the American Diabetes Association.

Phyllis Ann Pratt

Phyllis Ann Pratt, 73, of Butlerville, Indiana passed away at 9:55 pm on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Willow Crossing Health Campus in Columbus, Indiana.

Mrs. Pratt was born April 12, 1936 in New Castle, Indiana to John F. & Hilda May Dueble Thom. She married Growman Pratt on January 17, 1953. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2001.

Mrs. Pratt retired in 1998 from DSI (Developmental Services Incorporated) in North Vernon, Indiana where she assisted in a group home.

Mrs. Pratt enjoyed music, especially Elvis Presley, crafts, & going to the Little Nashville Opry.

Mrs. Pratt attended Straughn High School in Straughn, Indiana.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon. Friends may call from 4:00 to8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana.

Memorials may be given through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to Jennings County Historical Society.

Survivors; one son, Michael (Debra) Pratt of Shannon, Ill; one daughter - Janie (Dale) Barger of Columbus, Indiana; one sister, Ruth (Robert) Webb of Straughn, Indiana; five grandchildren, Amanda Roberson of North Vernon, Jacob Barger of Columbus, Indiana, Elizabeth Pratt of Bloomington, Ill, Emily (Dan) Gillingham of Freeport, IL, and Jon Pratt of Leaf River, Ill; one great grandchild, Adam Gillingham of Freeport, Ill

Mrs. Pratt was precede by her husband Growman Pratt; her parents; a son, Donald Pratt

Bobby Crawford

Bobby Crawford, 46, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus, Indiana.

Mr. Crawford was born March 15, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Loretta Bush Crawford.

Mr. Crawford was employed as a carpenter and had worked for several local contractors, including Jim Gibson Construction and lastly McHaley & Sons Construction, both in North Vernon, Indiana.

Mr. Crawford attended Jennings County High School in North Vernon, Indiana. He enjoyed building things.

Survivors include three daughters, Terri Burge of Vernon, Indiana, Kim Burge and Sandy K. Crawford both of Commiskey, Indiana; two sisters, Barbara Pearson and Sandra Casey both of North Vernon, Indiana; five grandchildren, Skyla, Destany, Brody and Carrington Burge and Jeremy McGuire all of Commiskey, Indiana.

Mr. Crawford was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson Blake Burge.

A Funeral Prayer will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Butlerville Cemetery in Butlerville, Indiana.

Memorials may be given through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home for expenses.

Catherine Ruth Holwager

Catherine Ruth (Rucker) Holwager, 64, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 7:12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Columbus Health and Rehabilitation Center in Columbus, Indiana.

Born July 4, 1944 in Scipio, Indiana she was the daughter of the late Millard E. Rucker and Rose M. Davis. She is survived by her husband James E. Holwager whom she married on June 16, 1979 in North Vernon, Indiana.

Mrs. Holwager was a 1962 graduate of North Vernon High School and a member of the Queensville Community Church. Mrs. Holwager was a Homemaker who loved taking care of her family.

Mrs. Holwager enjoyed camping, needlework, collecting Butterflies, Genealogy studies, puzzle games, and reading.

Surviving with her husband are five sons, Ernie McNeal of Reno, Nevada, Mark (Janice) Holwager of Commiskey, Indiana, Rob (Tressa) Tillett of Scipio, Indiana, David (Connie) Rucker and Randy Williams both of North Vernon, Indiana; six daughters, Shellie Hutchinson of Taylorsville, Indiana, Jo (Terry) Petty of Butlerville, Indiana, Pam (Jamey) Branum of Nebraska, Indiana, Paula Holwager and Sharon (Andrew) Tice both of Versailles, Indiana, and Valerie (Rob) Maxwell of North Vernon, Indiana; two sisters, Dorothy (Toodle) Cain of North Vernon, Indiana, Margaret Beesley, Scipio, Indiana; twenty three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lewis "Bud" Rucker, John M. Rucker and Billy J. Rucker; grandsons, Corbin Ryan Cheesebrew and James Keith Young.

Funeral services will be conducted on 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2009 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Ramey and Brother Ed Tharp officiating. Friends may call on Saturday, April 18, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery, in Vernon, Indiana.

Memorials may be given through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to the Breast Cancer Foundation or the Queensville Community Church.

Edna Mae Gabbard

Edna Mae Gabbard, 60, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 2:32 p.m. at the Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus, Indiana.

Mrs. Gabbard was born on May 24, 1948 in Madison, Indiana to Ruby Whitham and Jannetta Smith Whitham McComas of Madison, Indiana. Mrs. Gabbard married the late David Gabbard on March 20, 1965 in Jennings County, Indiana. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1997.

Mrs. Gabbard was a member of the Vernon Baptist Church in Vernon, Indiana. Mrs. Gabbard was a 1966 graduate of North Vernon High School and retired in 2002 from Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville, Indiana where she was employed for 36 years, 8 of which was in occupational therapy, 5 years in recreational therapy, and the remainder in several other positions.

Mrs. Gabbard enjoyed fishing, making crafts, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include one son, Jerry Gabbard of Austin, Indiana and a daughter, Kimberly (Michael) Gabbard-Perry of North Vernon, Indiana; her mother, Jannetta McComas of Madison, Indiana; brother, Wilbur (Christy) Whitham of Dupont, Indiana; three sisters, Pauline (Don) Stephens and Janice (Carl) Payton of North Vernon, Indiana and Thelma (Red) Wade of Seymour, Indiana; five grandchildren, Garreck and Kamren Gabbard, Eligh Gabbard Heitz, Miranda and Chasity Perry all of North Vernon, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her father Ruby Whitman and a companion Jimmie York.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, Indiana with the Rev. Don Morris officiating. Friends may call on Friday, April 17, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana.

Memorials may be given through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to Hospice of Jennings County or the Vernon Baptist Church.

Paula May Bolden

Paula May Bolden, 60, of North Vernon, IN, passed away at 1:28 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon, IN.

Ms. Bolden was a homemaker, house painter and former cook at the Jennings County High School. She attended North Vernon High School in North Vernon, IN. She was a member of 2nd United Methodist Church, in North Vernon, IN. Ms. Bolden enjoyed cooking, fishing and the outdoors.

Family and Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, IN. on Thursday, April 16, 2009 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home for expenses.

Ms. Bolden was born on March 8, 1949 in Jefferson County, IN. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Sarah Jane Cook Bolden. She was married to George Bolden. He preceded her in death on August 23, 2003.

She is survived by sons, Robbie Bolden and George Bolden Jr. both of North Vernon, IN; daughters Betty Bolden and Terrie Bolden both of North Vernon, IN.; seven brothers, Larry (Katie) Bolden and Harry (Gloria) Bolden both of Grand Rapids, MI., Paul Anderson of Gulf Port, MS., Robert Cook, John Cook, James Anderson and Jerry Anderson all of North Vernon, IN.; two sisters, Roberta (Ernest) Davis of Grand Rapids, MI and Debbie McLaughlin of North Vernon, IN.; eight grandchildren, Shey Richardson, Trey Richardson, Justin Bolden, Erica Bolden, Brandi Bolden, Jala Bolden, Kendra Bolden and Hunter Bolden, all of North Vernon, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband George Bolden.
