Gertrude Irene Neff (nee Klauer), age 91 years of Greensburg, formerly of Batesville, IN passed away Monday, October 18, 2004 in Greensburg, IN.

born September 14, 1913 in Mansfield, OH the daughter of Herman & Viola (Homerick) Klauer.

She married Morris Neff on Sept. 1, 1939 in Dayton, OH. She was a member of the Batesville United Methodist Church, Margaret Mary Community Hospital Guild and Hillcrest Country Club in Batesville.

She is survived by her daughters Mrs. Fredric (Gail Jane) Fralick of Anderson, IN and Linda Joyce Neff of Dearborn, MI. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her sisters Mrs. Charles (Geraldine) Little and Alice Hardman and brothers Woodrow Klauer and Edgar Klauer.

Private services will be held Thursday, October 21, 2004 at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Burial will be in Batesville United Methodist Cemetery.

Gary Robert Lang

Gary Robert Lang, age 46 years of W. Harrison, IN passed away Sunday, October 17, 2004 at his home.

born February 15, 1958 in Cincinnati, OH the son of the late Robert Walter & Mary Etta (Huffman) Lang.

He was a member of St. Theresa Benedicta of the Cross, Knights of Columbus and Pipe Fitters Local 392. He was a 1976 graduate of William Henry Harrison High School.

Mr. Lang is survived by his daughters Christina and Alysia Lang of Lawrenceburg, IN; former wife Tammy Lang of Lawrenceburg, IN; sister Mary Lang of Harrison, OH and brothers David (Cheri) Lang of Colerain, OH, Robert (Judy) Lang of Greendale, IN and John P. (Sharon) Lang of Alexandria, KY. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings Thomas Robert & Anna Beth Lang.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 23, 2004 from 12:30 until time of service at 2:00 PM with Father Edward Shine officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for his daughter’s education fund.

Charles G. Williams, Jr.

New Point, Indiana

Charles G. Williams, Jr. of New Point, IN died Saturday, October 9, 2004 at the age of 90 yrs. old. He was born April 4, 1914 to Charles Sr. & Letta (Collicutt) Williams in New Pennington, IN.

Mr. Williams was a 1932 Graduate of New Point High School and a member of the New Point Christian Church. He retired from the Highway Equipment Co. (a Caterpillar Dealer in Cincinnati) and was also a life long farmer.

Mr. Williams married Mary Olive Minning on September 28, 1936 in Indianapolis and she preceded him in death on April 4, 2004.

He is survived by one daughter Shirley (Bobby) Maines of Durham, NC and one son Gordon (Carol) Williams of London, OH and 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
One son Charles V. Williams and two brothers Andrew & John Williams preceded her in death.

Visitation, Friday, October 15, 2004, 5:00-8:00pm at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, IN. Funeral services Saturday, October 16, 2004, 10:00am at the New Point Christian Church with a half hour calling before the service. Pastor Mark Vice officiating with burial immediately following at the Rossburg Cemetery in New Point, IN.

Memorials may be made to the New Point Christian Church Building Fund.

Frances Grace Zinger

Frances Grace Zinger, age 84 years of Batesville, IN formerly of Wyckoff, NJ passed away Thursday, October 7, 2004 in Cincinnati, OH.

born March 11, 1920 in Marineo, Sicily the daughter of Charles Sr. & Mary (Pepe) Cangialosi. She married George Zinger in 1956 and he preceded her in death in 1993.

Mrs. Zinger was a manager of a Dry Cleaning Store in Wyckoff, NJ and also owned & operated a gift shop in Wyckoff, NJ. She was a member of the Batesville Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by her daughter Susan (Cagnina) Lockwood of Clifton, NJ; grandchildren David DeMarco of Batesville, IN; Michelle Lyle of Marietta, GA and Tracey Lockwood of Clifton, NJ; 2 great grandchildren and siblings Charles Cangialosi Jr. of Kunkletown, PA; Josephine Flores of Andover, NJ; Anthony Cangialosi of Garfield, NJ; Salvatore Cangialosi of Clifton, NJ and Mary Seminerio of Wayne, NJ.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 9, 2004 from 2:00- 3:00 PM followed by services at 3:00 PM all at Meyers Funeral Home, 500 West Pearl St., Batesville, IN 47006 with Pastor Randy Edwards officiating. Cremation will follow services.

Dear grandfather of Kelly, Courtney, Kylee, Courtney & Hope. Brother of Cheryl (Mark) Beck. Also survived by 1 niece & 3 nephews. Member of F&AM; #11 Brookville, IN and Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati. Oct. 6, 2004; age 67; residence W. Harrison, IN. Visitation Sat. Oct. 9, 2004 from 10:00- 1:00 followed by services at 1:00PM all at the Church of Christ at Harrison.

Jerry “Denny” Slagle, age 67 years of W. Harrison, IN passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2004 in Cleveland, OH.

born August 22, 1937 in Hamilton, OH; the son of Charles & Mary Em (Saylor) Slagle. He married Norma Jo Seeley on Sept. 28, 1956 in New Trenton, IN.

He was a member of F&AM; #11 in Brookville, IN; Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati and the Church of Christ at Harrison. He worked for Barrett Paving Materials as plant manager.

Mr. Slagle is survived by his wife Norma Jo Slagle, son Todd (Heidi) Slagle of Harrison, OH; daughters Lori (Jim) French of W. Harrison, IN and Jackie (Mike) Sage of Northern Kentucky; granddaughters Kelly, Courtney, Kylee, Courtney and Hope; sister Cheryl (Mark) Beck of Brentwood, CA; 1 niece and 3 nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 9, 2004 at 1:00 PM at the Church of Christ at Harrison in Harrison, OH. with Pastor Jeff Girton officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Brookville, IN. Memorials are suggested to the Denny Slagle Memorial fund c/o Church of Christ at Harrison.

Frances Amelia Yorn (nee Smith), age 84 years of Batesville, IN passed away Sunday, September 26, 2004 at The Waters of Batesville.

born June 21, 1920 in Clamouth Falls, OR the daughter of Frank & Louise (Keller) Smith. She married Robert Louis Yorn on July 31, 1946.

Mrs. Yorn was a member of the Batesville United Methodist Church and retired after many years at Feltz Restaurant and the VFW.

She is survived by her daughters Glenda (Jerry) Vogt of Batesville and Rebecca “Becky” Ross of Romney, IN; sons Robert Yorn of Greenwood, IN and Steve (Deborah) Yorn of Batesville, IN. She will also be missed by 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her sister Anne Marie Ricke and brother George Smith.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 27, 2004 from 5-8 PM at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Batesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Marhanka officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Church Cemetery in Batesville. Memorials may be directed to Margaret Mary Hospice.

Mathilda H. Schumacher, age 83 years of Batesville, IN passed away Sunday
September 19, 2004 in Abilene, TX.

She was born March 2, 1921 in Franklin County, IN the daughter of Gilbert & Louise (Hoegemeyer) Gluesenkamp. She married Owen Schumacher on August 30, 1941 at St. John Church Huntersville. He preceded her in death on October 9, 1987.

Mrs. Schumacher retired from Margaret Mary Hospital as a ward clerk and was still active as a volunteer there. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Order Eastern Star Chapter 348 and the 12th Armored Division Association.

She is survived by her daughter Owenita Grubert of Fishkill, NY; son Michael (Janet) Schumacher of Batesville, IN; grandchildren Chris and Beth Grubert, Katie, Sarah & Jessica Schumacher; dear friend Richard Flodder; sister JoAnn Winderquist of Cassopolis, MI and Bill Gluesenkamp of Greenwood, IN who was raised like a brother.

Funeral Services will be Friday, September 24, 2004 at 11:00 AM at St. John United Church of Christ in Batesville with Rev. David Johnston officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 - 8 PM with OES Services at 7:30 PM at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Burial will be in St. John Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Cornea Research Foundation or St. John Church, both in care of the funeral home.

Hurless Glen Broughton

Hurless Glen Broughton, age 60 years of Sunman, IN passed away Friday, September 17, 2004 in Dearborn County, IN.

He was born September 1, 1944 in Detroit, MI the son of Russell Broughton and the late Rosa Jane (Butler) Broughton. He married Rosalie Cassady on June 13, 1970.

Mr. Broughton retired in 2001 from General Electric as a material handler after 35 years. He was also a lifetime farmer. He graduated from Whitewater High School in 1963.

In addition to her father, he is survived by his wife Rosalie Broughton, children Melissa (Ben) Linser of Cincinnati, OH and Travis Broughton of Delhi, OH; granddaughter Allison Linser, sister Helen (Denny) Butterfield and brother Darrell (April) Broughton. He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. (Fast Time) at the First Baptist Church in Harrison, OH with Bro. Ronnie Wolfe officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 - 8 PM (Fast Time) at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH. Burial will be in Glen Haven Cemetery, Harrison, OH. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Cincinnati, Sunman Fire Dept. or Rescue 20.
