Eldric Hazeldean

Mr. Eldric Edward Hazeldean, age 92, of Madison, Indiana, formerly of Vevay, died at 9:05 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5th, 2015, at his residence in Madison.

Eldric entered this life on January 8th, 1923, in Shiloh, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph E. and Minnie J. (Schievelbein) Hazeldean. He was raised in Switzerland County and was a 1941 graduate of the Vevay High School. Eldric was inducted into the United States Marine Corps on December 14th, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, serving during World War II. Eldric was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal on April 22nd, 1946.

Eldric was united in marriage on February 12th, 1947, at the First Reform Church in Rising Sun, to Joy Napier and to this union arrived three sons: Eddie, Howard and Jerry; and a daughter, Mary Lou to bless this home. Eldric and Joy shared 68 loving years of marriage together until his death.

Eldric was a former general maintenance for Coopers Shop in Lawrenceburg, Indiana and was employed in delivery for Granite Brick and Lumber Yard in Rising Sun. He was also employed in maintenance for the Markland Dam Locks for several years. He farmed all of his life in Switzerland County.

Eldric was a member of the Switzerland County Farm Bureau and the Markland Baptist Church and after moving to Madison in August 2011, he attended the North Madison Baptist Church. Eldric enjoyed gardening, flowers, but most of all, farming.

Eldric will be missed by his loving wife of 68 years: Joy (Napier) Hazeldean of Madison; his sons: William "Eddie" Hazeldean and his wife: Elaine of Houston, Texas and Eldric Howard Hazeldean and his wife: Julia of Vevay; his daughter: Mary Lou Griffin and her husband: Ronnie of Pleasant; and his daughter-in-law: Janice Hazeldean of Vevay.

He will also be missed by his grandchildren: Kelli Brockman and her husband: Donald of Vevay; Kevin Scudder of Convoy, Ohio; Abbye Hazeldean of Dallas, Texas; Joshua Hazeldean and his wife: Megan of Kaneohe, Hawaii; and Jillian Hazeldean of San Diego, California; by his great-grandchildren: Bryant, Briann and Carter; his sister: Mildred Schuster of Battle Creek, Michigan; and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph E. and Minnie J. (Schievelbein) Hazeldean; his son: Jerome Lee "Jerry" Hazeldean, who died on July 20th, 2011; his granddaughter: Kimberly Ann Hazeldean, who died on July 11th, 1982; his sister: Evelyn Felker, who died on September 6th, 2014; and by his sister-in-law: Blanche Bennett, who died on July 18th, 2015.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, August 8th, 2015, by Pastor Bobby Brundige Jr., at the Haskell and Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay. Interment followed in the Vevay Cemetery.

Full military rites were conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 and the United States Marine Corps Ceremonial Unit at the cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Markland Baptist Church or Hospice of King's Daughters' Hospital. Cards are available at the funeral home.

Mary Elizabeth Reynolds

Mary Elizabeth (Knaus) Reynolds, age 88, of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Switzerland County, died at 3:05 p.m., on Monday August 10th, 2015, at her residence.

Mary entered this life on March 9th, 1927, in Switzerland County, the daughter of the late Earl Knaus and Mira Marie (Scudder) Knaus Boyd. She was raised in Switzerland County and attended the Patriot High School.

Mary was united in marriage on June 25th, 1946, in Ripley County, Indiana, to the late Carl William Reynolds and to this union arrived two daughters, Darlene and Donna; and two sons, Eddie and Cecil; to bless their home.

She was employed as a line worker for Western Electric in Indianapolis, retiring on June 22nd, 1985, after 28 years of service. Mary resided in the Indianapolis community since 1956. She was a past member of the Indianapolis VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #261. Mary enjoyed playing euchre in her spare time.

Mary will be missed by her daughters: Darlene Dawn Reynolds of Indianapolis and Donna Jean (Reynolds) Byrd of Cleveland, Ohio; by her son: Eddie Gale Reynolds of Indianapolis; her granddaughter: Natisha Dawn (Reynolds) Wilson; her great-grandchildren; her sister: Ramona Vest of Madison; her brother: Gary Boyd of Scottsburg, Indiana; and her several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Earl Knaus and Mira Marie (Scudder) Knaus Boyd; her step-father: Hollis Boyd, who died in 1972; her husband: Carl William Reynolds, who died on May 9th, 1981; her son: Cecil William Reynolds, who died in 1954; and her brother: Arnold Boyd, who died in 1994.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 14th, 2015, at 1 p.m., by Brother Jeremiah Haynes, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Friday, August 14th, 2015, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Charity of the Donor's Choice. Cards are available at the funeral home.

Douglas Neel

Douglas James Neel, 50, of Rising Sun, passed away at 12:03 p.m. on Sunday, August 2nd, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Douglas was born in Orrville, Ohio, on December 9th, 1964, the son of Pauline (Wald) and Kenneth Neel, of Doylestown, Ohio. Doug grew up in the Doylestown area and was a graduate of Chippewa High School. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for Delta Airlines.

On March 8th, 1990 he married Mickie DuFore Neel, who survives him; and to this union a daughter and best friend to Doug was born, Rachael.

Doug got along well with people and had many friends. He did sandblasting for people and helped work on the sea planes in Rising Sun. He also enjoyed working on cars and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Doug was a loving husband, dad, son, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife Mickie, Douglas is survived by a daughter, Rachael Neel, of Cincinnati, Ohio; his parents, Ken and Pauline Neel of Doylestown; a sister, Danniell Neel, of Doylestown, Ohio; his adoptive brother, Brian Pepper, of Wooster, Ohio; his beloved dog 'Aussie'; and many other loving family members and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Markland Funeral Home of Rising Sun serving the family.

Perry 'Ed' Martin

Perry 'Ed' Martin, age 72 of Madison, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 8th, 2015 at 2:30 a.m. at the King's Daughters' Hospital Emergency Room in Madison.

Ed was born December 9th, 1942 in Vevay. His parents were Perry O. Martin and Hattie K. Lockridge Martin Milhako. Ed was a U.S. Army retired Captain with 24 years of service.

He worked at the Williamson Company for 20 years. In August of 1988 he retired from Williamson Company and entered the fall class of the Christ Hospital School of Nursing. He became a Registered Nurse and went to work for the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.

He was an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Hanover. His priority in life was to serve his Lord, Christ Jesus, to the best of his ability. It was Ed's prayer that his family would one day join him in heaven.

Ed will be missed by his loving wife of 34 years, Linda LaVonne Schraub Martin of Madison. He is also survived by his son, David Wayne Martin and his wife, Toni of Greenwood, Indiana; his daughters: Patricia Ann Martin Birge Hoffman of Paragon, Indiana, Letitia Tolen of Versailles, Indiana; his eight grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister: Andrea K. Martin Kilgas of North Vernon, Indiana; his brother, Michael W. Martin of Memphis, Tennessee; several cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Perry Orville Martin, and his mother, Hattie Katherine Lockridge Martin-Milhalko.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, August 12th, 2015, by Pastor Mike Johnson at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Hanover. Interment followed in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Madison, officiated by evangelist Dwight Coffman.

Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison, was in charge of arrangements.

Dick R. Bovard

Dick R. Bovard, 71, of Rising Sun, Indiana, passed away at 12:10 a.m., on Saturday, August 1st, 2015, at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

Dick was born in Milan, Indiana, on January 26th, 1944, a son of the late Rachel (Scudder) and Warren Bovard. He was raised in Ohio County and was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 1962. After graduation he attended Pensacola Junior College on a basketball scholarship for one year.

On July 17th, 1965 at the Rising Sun Church of Christ he married Audrey Clifton Bovard, who survives him. Dick and Audrey recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Dick was a member of the Rising Sun Church of Christ and the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge. Dick enjoyed going to car shows, his tractors, tools and working on the farm. His family was his greatest joy, he loved going to whatever event his grandchildren were involved in, his loving wife and children made sure he was able to.

Dick worked as a pipefitter for Seagram's Distillery in Lawrenceburg, retiring in 2001 after 26 years of service. Before working at Seagram's he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Byrnes-Conway Construction in Cincinnati, Ohio for 13 years. Most of these years were worked under his brother, Carl, as his foreman.

In addition to his devoted wife Audrey; Dick is also survived by a daughter, Tammy Schwing (Scott), of Rising Sun; and a son, Trevor Bovard (Micky), of Rising Sun. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Riley, Jacob, Maddy and Rachel; a sister, Jeanette Rhodes, of Plainfield, Indiana; by several nieces and nephews and by other family members and friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, by brothers: Willard, Paul "Pat", Carl, Robert "Bob", Joe and Hartzel Bovard; and by sisters: Mary Ellen Remle, Olive Detmer, and Doris Bunch.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. tonight (Thursday, August 6th) at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, with Brother Greg Matthew officiating. Friends are invited to call today (Thursday) from 3-6 p.m. at Markland Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Rising Sun Church of Christ or the Rising Sun Church of Christ Free Store; or the UC Neuroscience Institute (UCNI).

Debra Sue Melvin

Debra Sue "Debby" Hunt Melvin, age 59, of Madison, Indiana died on Friday, July 31st, 2015, at 10:18 p.m. at the Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Debra entered this life on September 6th, 1955 in Jefferson County, Missouri. She was the loving daughter of the late, Glenn G. and Della Cox Hunt.

She was raised in Toulon, Illinois and graduated high school there. She then attended Olivet Nazarene University and was a member of the Nazarene faith.

Debby was united in marriage to Allen Dale Melvin and they settled in Madison 20 years ago. She was a loving homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and acrylic painting.

Debra will be missed by her loving husband of 20 years, Allen Dale Melvin of Madison; her loving sons: Christopher Anderson and his wife, Sarah, of Buffalo, New York; and Michael Anderson of Madison; by her loving daughters: Rachel Anderson and her companion, Moses Zook of Vevay; and Amber Hunt and her husband, Beth Crowe of Madison.

She is also survived by her father-in-law, Dale L. Melvin and his wife, Sandy of Cornell, Illinois; her grandchildren: Christopher Anderson, Jr.; Desmond Anderson; Eva Anderson; Jennifer Zook; Jake Zook; Marshal Anderson; and Tavyn Anderson; by her brothers: Robert Hunt of Kewaunee, Illinois; Earl Hunt of Orlando, Florida; Donald Hunt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Ricky Hunt of Homestead, Florida; and Steve Hunt of Homestead, Florida; by her sisters: Martha Pinchuk of Orlando, Florida; Beverly Hunt of West Palm Beach, Florida; Linda Thimmons of Lexington, Kentucky; and Norma Hutto of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Glenn G. and Della Cox Hunt; her sisters: Shirley Moore, Margaret Sharp and Wanda Hunt; and by her brothers: Richard Hunt and Harold Hunt.

Visitation and funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, August 5th, 2015, by Chaplain Wayne Edwards at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment followed in the Bayless Cemetery in Madison.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kosair Children's Hospital. Cards are available at the funeral home.
