Martha Belle Hagan, 93, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, May 3, 2009 at North Hardin Health and Rehab. She was a native of Hardin County and a member of St. James Catholic Church. She was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Hardin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, St. James Rosary Guild and was a charter member of Pine Valley Golf Club. She was an avid golfer and loved fishing, bowling and playing bridge. She worked for Joplin and Lanz and for Communicare-CETA program. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Guy Hagan, Gardner Hagan, Gene Hagan, Warren Hagan and Mike Hagan, by 3 sisters, Mary Frances Lanz, Elizabeth Hagan and Anna Louise Wiseman, by a nephew and by her parents Joseph T. and Lou Vira Gardner Hagan. She is survived by 1 sister, Sarah Lee of Leitchfield, 2 sister-in-laws, Thelma Hagan Helm of Louisville and Emogene Hagan of Glendale and 32 nieces and nephews The funeral will be at 11 am Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Dick Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in St. James cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Prayer Vigil Service at 7 pm Monday at Brown Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Vincent dePaul Society at St. James Church.

Marcella McClure
Marcella McClure, 72, of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at her residence. She was a native of Hardin County and a lifetime member of Valley Creek Baptist Church. She retired from the Hair Design School in Radcliff in 1998 where she was an instructor. She was preceded in death by her parents Harley Elbert and Verna Mae Estes Henderson, by 3 brothers, Garland Henderson, Jerry Henderson and E. W. Henderson, by a half sister, Connie Joyce, by 2 half brothers, James Richardson and Harley Richardson, Jr. and by a great granddaughter, Alisha Greer. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, William Floyd McClure,1 son Mark McClure and his wife Georganne of Elizabethtown, 1 daughter, Lisa Howard and her husband Ken of Elizabethtown, 1 foster son, Paul Amos of Elizabethtown, 1 foster daughter, Janie Bullock of Beaver Dam, 2 brothers, Marvin Henderson of Valley Station and Billy Joe Henderson of Elizabethtown, 5 grandchildren, Aaron Howard, Jessica Howard and Hannah Howard and Lea Ann McClure and Michael McClure and 2 great grandchildren, Derek and Lacey Greer. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Valley Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Kerr and Rev. James Reed officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home.

Mary Angeline Murphy
Mary Angeline Doyle Murphy, 86, of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Helmwood Health Care. She was a native of Cave City and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her husband, William Murphy, 1 son Dr. William M. Murphy of Gainsville, FL, 1 brother, John Doyle of Cave City and 1 sister Esther Fuqua of Elizabethtown. The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Skip Dunford officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Gardens in Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Bowen H. Goode, Sr.
Bowen Goode, Sr., 84 of Elizabethtown, died Friday, September 12, 2008 at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Lincoln County and was a painter by profession.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene E. and Mary Bernice Brown Goode and a son, Kenneth Goode.
He is survived by two sons, Bowen Goode, Jr. and Brenda and Danny Lee Goode all of Elizabethtown; one daughter, Judy Priddy of Flaherty; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Billy Goode and Gene Goode both of Richmond and three sisters, Sue Osborne of Louisville, Margaret Lunsford of Union and Eugenia Young of Lancaster.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 28, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Valley Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Kerr officiating.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Contributions to the American Diabetes Association or to Hospice of Central Kentucky.

John Michael Fitzsimmons
John Michael Fitzsimmons, 14, of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Glendale, WV and was a Freshman at Central Hardin High School. He was a member of the Y Club and was trying out for the swim team. He loved cars and video games and was interested in technology, travel and big cities.
He is survived by his parents, Michael and Michele Morgan Fitzsimmons of Elizabethtown; two brothers, Lucas and Jake Fitzsimmons of Elizabethtown and his grandparents, Lee and Barbara Fitzsimmons of New Martinsville, WV, Anita Morgan of Stamford, CT and Jack and Sandy Morgan of Seaford, DE.
The funeral is Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Chaplain Luis Ruiz officiating. Burial will follow at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. and after 12 noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ola Celestine Bryant
Ola Celestine Bryant, 88, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, September 19, 2008 at Helmwood Health Care.
She was a native of Hardin Co. and was a retired waitress. She also worked for Greyhound Bus Lines in Louisville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus M. and Judith Mae Dingus Johnson; one brother, William L. Johnson and two sisters, Marie Richardson and Ruth Bradley.
She is survived by four sons, Bobby Gene Wise and Eva Lee of Lees Summit, MO, Rufus "Jack" Wise and Charlene of Elizabethtown, Troy Bryant of Falmouth and Tommy Bryant of Cincinnati, OH; two daughters, Barbara Wiseman and Carl of Radcliff and Elaine Kelley and Leon of Durant, OK; one brother, Richard M. Johnson of Battletown; two sisters, Doris Smallwood of Vine Grove and Jane Priddy of Elizabethtown; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
The funeral is Monday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Brenda Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist cemetery.
Visitation is Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Eula Skaggs Phillips
Eula Phillips, 89, of Radcliff, went home to be with the Lord at 3:58 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2008. Her three sons and daughter-in-laws were at her side.
She was a native of Grayson Co. and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Sudie Downs Skaggs; her husband, Herman Phillips; one grandson, Richie Phillips; two brothers, Herman Grant Skaggs and Huey Skaggs and one sister, Beulah Beeler.
She is survived by three sons, Wendell Phillips and Renie of Radcliff, Bobby Joe Phillips and Sandra of Jeffersonville, IN and Eddie Phillips and Cecilianna of Elizabethtown; two brothers, Sherrl Skaggs of Radcliff and Daniel Bud Skaggs of Louisville; one sister, Retha Williams of Louisville; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great grandchildren; eight great step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is Monday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Bobby Ray Martin
Bobby Ray Martin, 61 of Cecilia, died Sunday, July 4, 2010 at his home. He was a native of Barren County and attended Valley Creek Baptist Church. He was a member of the NRA and the NHRA and was an avid sportsman. He served in the U.S. Army and was a retired lineman from GTE. He was prececed in death by his parents, William Ray and Beatrice Mae Sturgeon Martin and his step mother, Jessie Martin. He is survived by four sons, Bobby Keith Martin of Hodgenville, Brent Dewayne Martin and Jeffrey Earl Stults both of Elizabethtown and William Scott Martin of Campbellsville; two daughters, Kimberly Martin Emmerling of Cecilia and Kaylah Brooke Martin of Elizabethtown; five brothers, Paul Wayne Martin, Dougie Martin, Kenneth Martin, Jimmy Martin and Craig Martin all of Cave City; two sisters, Deborah Coffee and Sissy Jandt both of Cave City; eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Valley Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Howard Pryor officiating. Burial will follow in Valley Creek cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continue after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home.

Joseph Robert
Joseph Robert "Doodle" Knight, 75 of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Elizabethtown Nursing and Rehab. He was a native of Hardin County, a member of Glendale United Methodist Church and Hardin County Sportsmans Lake. He retired from East Hardin Middle School where he was a custodian for 18 years. He also worked at East Hardin High School. He is preceded in death by a son, Timmy Lynn Knight and his parents, John Marshall and Virginia Mae Despain Knight. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ellen Knight; four sons, Bruce (Edna) Knight of Hodgenville, Johnny R. (Margitta) Knight of Elizabethtown, Thomas W. (Fiance Sharlia) Knight of Rineyville and Edwin (Thomas) Knight of Blythewood, SC; one daughter, Wanda Sue (Tim) Curry of Elizabethtown; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Valley Creek cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
