Neoma Mae Vann of Magnolia

Neoma Mae Vann, age 78, of Magnolia, passed away, Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Florence Kindler, two daughters, Caroline Doughtery and Lenora Hoover; two sons, Daniel and Donald Smith; seven brothers, James, Edward, Cleance, Russell, and Sonny Kindler, Frank and Robert Glotta; and a sister, Marie Kindler.

Neoma is survived by a son, David Smith of Magnolia; a daughter, Yvonne Ortega of Westville, IN; two step-sons, Woody A. Vann of Hobart, IN and Timothy Vann of Creal; four step-daughters, Patricia Burton of Magnolia, Barbara Faber of Greenberg, IN, Peggy Baker of Greendale, IN and Mary Jo Masminter of Delhi, OH; 11 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and six grat-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, May 15, 2015, at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia.

Visitation will begin at 12 noon Friday at the funeral home.

Archie Moss Milby of Magnolia

Archie Moss Milby, age 94 years, of Magnolia, passed away, Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

The native of Gabe, Kentucky was retired from General Electric, long time member and elder at the Magnolia Cumberland Presbyterian Church, having earned the distinction of being the oldest living member before his death and was a farmer.

Archie also built houses, sold milk commercially, and raised chickens among his many other talents.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Cynthia McCubbin Milby, his parents, Clarence and Maggie Judd Milby, a sister, Marcella Scott, and four brothers, Coy, Edward, Hershell and Oliver Milby.

He is survived by two daughters, Judy (Jimmy) Flanders of Indianapolis, Indiana and Patricia (Carl) Heninger of Elizabeth, Indiana, two brothers, Cleston Milby of Campbellsville and Buford (Bobbie) Milby of Glasgow, two granddaughters, Cynthia Ann (Timothy) Flanders Fleck of Beavercreek, Ohio and Mary Beth (Ross) Wolfe of Beech Grove, Indiana, and four great-grandchildren, Jonathan (Michell) Fleck, Diana Fleck, Katelynn Ann Wolfe and Molly Wolfe.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM (EDT) Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with the Rev. Tim McGuire and Rev. Anthony Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 PM (EDT) Friday, and after 9 AM (EDT) Saturday at the funeral home.

Dorothy "Day" Tharp of Magnolia

Dorothy M. "Day" Tharp, 91, formerly of Magnolia, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Signature Healthcare Center in Elizabethtown, KY.

The fourth of thirteen children, she was born to the late Charles Leslie Miller and Alta Miller on May 5, 1924 in Magnolia.

Mrs. Tharp was a 1942 graduate of Magnolia High School, a member of Mt. Zion Separate Baptist Church and a former member of Magnolia Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tharp was preceded in death by her husband, Hollie G. Tharp; a daughter, Peggy Sue Tharp; a son, David Carroll Tharp; three brothers, Harold Burton Miller, Donald G. Miller and Charles Robert "Bobby" Miller and four sisters, Ruby Lillian Cook, Edna Bernice Turner, Mary Evelyn "Dolly" Jackson and Sue Carol Meredith.

Mrs. Tharp is survived by two brothers, Dr. Ronald L. Miller of Charleston, South Carolina and Dr. James E. "Jimmie" Miller of Lexington, KY and three sisters, Helen "Tootsie" Catlett, Cleo Spratt and Betty Ann Peace all of Hodgenville.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tharp will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2016, at the chapel of Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Gordon McDowell officiating. Interment will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and continues at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Bessie Fern Thompson Overly of Magnolia

Bessie Fern Thompson Overly, age 89, of Magnolia, was called Home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family, at her residence on Tuesday, March 10, 2015.

She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Separate Baptist Church. A housewife and loving wife, mother and a great friend to her grandchildren, she loved traveling and all sports, but especially UK basketball, "her Cats".

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy Tipton and Roosevelt Thompson; a grandson, Robert Curtis Eppers; four sisters, Ruby Thompson, Judy Thompson Nelson, Edna Thompson and Lula Thompson Tummins and five brothers, Robert Earl, Vernon, Joseph, Clarence and Landon Thompson.

She is survived by her husband, Curtis Overly; two daughters, Gayle (Joe) Robbins of Sonora and Cynthia (Tracy) Richardson of Center Point, IA; a son, Jeffrey (Diane) Overly of Ft. Madison, IA; six grandchildren, Michael (Barbara) Eppers, Tabitha Underwood Rojas, Robert A. Richardson, Amanda (David) Osborne, Abigayle (Sam) Montgomery and Nova (Chris Shea) Richardson; two sisters, Barbara (Dellard) Helm of Magnolia and Sharon (Gary) Skaggs of Hodgenville; a special caregiver, Sheila Skaggs of Magnolia; ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM (ET), Sunday, March 15, 2015, at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with burial to follow in the Pleasant Ridge Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 PM (ET), Saturday and after 9 AM (ET), Sunday at the funeral home.

Joe Ann Childress of Hodgenville

Joe Ann Childress, age 74, of Hodgenville, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the University of Louisville Hospital.

She was a longtime and faithful member of the Union Christian Church and a lifelong homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Tisha Mae Dye Wheeler; her step-mother, Lillie Polston Wheeler; two sisters, Dot and June Wilson; a grandson, Travis Cruse and a step-sister, Mary Logsdon.

She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Miller of Linwood and Missy (Greg) Beard of Upton; six sons, Tim (Regina), Mike (Pam), Chris (Penny) and Johnny (Lisa) Childress, all of Hodgenville, D. (Lisa) Childress of Elizabethtown and Jeff (Rhonda) Childress of Bloomfield; sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Wanda Childress of Jonesville and two step-sisters, Minnie Walsh of Jonesville and Lillian Ragland of Bonnieville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM (ET), Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Bros. Steve Campbell and Sid Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 PM (ET), Friday and after 9 AM (ET), Saturday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions toward funeral expenses and may be made at the funeral home.

Edith L. Price of Hodgenville

Edith L. Price, age 92 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Helmwood Healthcare Center in Elizabethtown.

She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Hart County, and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Price, a son, Howard Price, her parents, John and Lura Wells Wright, a sister, Margaret Richardson, three brothers, Charles Wright, Wesley Wright, and Ronald Wright, a granddaughter, two grandsons, and a great-great-grandson.

She is survived by five daughters, Deloris Mullins of Florida, Helen Highbaugh of Upton, Linda Puckett of Horse Cave, Marcia (Raymond) Henderson of North Carolina and Donna Sue (David) Logsdon of Cub Run, four sons, Albert Price of Florida, Johnnie (Gracie) Price of Cub Run, Leon (Peggy) Price of Indiana and Donnie (Shirley) Price of Greensburg, several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with the Rev. Shannon McCubbins officiating. Burial will follow in the Timberlake Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will begin after 11:00 AM (EST) Thursday at the funeral home until time for services.

Ruth Gibson Skaggs of Magnolia

Ruth Gibson Skaggs, age 94 years, of Magnolia, passed away, Friday, April 3, 2015 at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.

She was a member of Mt. Zion Separate Baptist Church, a farmer, homemaker, and former nurse's aide at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvin "Bess" Skaggs, her parents, Wade and Lucy Ada Milby Gibson, three sisters, Leora Walsh, Genrose Zibart, and Lavern Helm, and three brothers, Ruell Freeman Gibson, James Leigh Gibson, and Wade "Shug" Gibson.

She is survived by two sons, Lynn (Brenda) Skaggs of Magnolia, and Tony (Molinda) Skaggs of Marietta, Georgia, four sisters, Delores (Dee) Wheeler of Sonora, Opal Jean Lewis of Hodgenville, Devada Jeffers of Brooks, and Norma Jo (Shelby) Clopton of Magnolia, three grandchildren, Andra (Darin) Deaton, Steve (Sandy) Skaggs, and Heather (Ron) Lingerfelt, and five great-grandchildren, Kayla Skaggs, Christian Skaggs, Brock Nordin, Luke Nordin, and Makenna Deaton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with the Rev. Roger Pepper and Rev. Gerald Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 PM Monday, and after 9 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
