Everett Robert Stroub, 85

Everett Robert Stroub, 85, a resident of Harrison County died Friday, June 25, 2004.

He was born in Harrison County on Nov. 6, 1918 to the late Charles and Verda Switzer Stroub. He was a retired employee of Lit-N-Ing Co., Kawneer and a farmer. He was a member and deacon of Pleasant Green Baptist Church, and the Community Draft Horse and Mule Association.

He was preceded in death by one grandson Brandon Stroub, and three brothers, Ernest, Henry and Hoover Stroub.

Survivors include: his wife, Margaret Wiggins Stroub; three sons, Rob Stroub and wife Donna and Steve Stroub and wife Kathy, all of Harrison County, and Jim Stroub and wife Brenda of Mt. Sterling; three daughters, Dorothy Harp and husband Jack and Sherryl Stroub, all of Harrison County, and Carolyn "Laney" Whitson of Lewisburg, Tenn.; one sister, Mary Reffett and husband James of Harrison County; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services were conducted Monday, June 28 at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home by the Rev. Steve Delaney and the Rev. Mike Hays. Burial was in Pythian Grove Cemetery..

Pallbearers were: Zach Stroub, Jimbo Stroub, Josh Stroub, Barry Whitson, David Case, Ronnie Stephens, Lee Tucker, and Ashley Bottoms.

Honorary pallbearers were: Fred Whitson, Brad Stroub, Terry Stroub, Danny Stroub, Harry Stroub, Stanley Courtney, Mike Stroub, Billy Wiggins, and Charles Reffett.

Mary Katherine Murphy, 69

Mary Katherine Murphy, 69, a resident of Berry, Ky., wife of Eugene Murphy, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana. Arrangements are pending with Woodhead Funeral Home in Berry.

Virginia Dear Martin, 83

Virginia Dear Martin, 83, a resident of Mt. Olivet, died Friday, June 25, 2004.

She was born in Lawrenceville, Ga., Sept. 15, 1920, to the late John Henry and Ida Tuck Seagraves. She was a retired clerk at Shopwise in Carlisle, and a member of the Piqua Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include: a son, William A. Martin Jr. of Buckeye, Ariz.; a daughter, Diana (Lloyd) Wells of Mt. Olivet; a brother, Marvin (Genny) Seagraves of Emmett, Mich.; two grandchildren, Daniel (Crystal) Wells and Emily Martin; two great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Hunter Wells; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Radford and Hilda Cobb and Wanda Martin.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, June 30 at the Robertson County Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Hope.

James T. 'J.T.' Clapp, 71

James T. 'J.T.' Clapp, 71, a resident of Cynthiana, formerly of New Castle, Ind., died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital East in Lexington.

He was born in Dandridge, Tenn., Sept. 20, 1932, to the late Grover Cleveland and Mary Catherine Barbee Clapp. He was a former partner of D & G Auto Electric in Cynthiana, and former employee of Logston Auto Parts and Firestone.

Survivors include: his former wife and mother of their children, Betty Mae Clapp of Cynthiana; two daughters, Diann S. (Edward) Tutewiler of Des Plaines, Ill. and Joann K. Clapp of Harrison County; two sons, Gary L. Clapp and Danny J. (Patricia) Clapp, both of Harrison County; five brothers, Charles M. Clapp, George H. Clapp, Grover C. Clapp, and Larry A. Clapp, all of New Castle, Ind., and Donald E. Clapp of Lewisville, Ind.; three sisters, Rosemary Bacorn of New Castle, Ind., Daisy Norris of Elkhart, Ind., and Jean Spence of Goshen, Ind.; five grandchildren, Betty Jo, Ruth, Thomas, Ronald and Daniel; and four great-grandchildren, Edward, Jasmine, Dwight and Brendan.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, July, 3, at 2 p.m. at Boyers Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Larry Jones. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 2, at Ware Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to The Salvation Army or Special Okympics.

Roseina Mains Bruin, 91

Roseina Mains Bruin, 91, a resident of Cynthiana, formerly of Falmouth, died Sunday, June 13, 2004 at Grand Haven Nursing Home in Cynthiana.

She was born in Pendleton County, Ky., on April 13, 1913. She was the daugliter of Charlie and Capitola Cooper Mains, and a member of Antioch Mills Christian Church.

She was proceded in death by her husband, Shelby Bruin, daughters, Junita Bruin, and Cora Mae Colvin; brothers, Shelby and Hansel Mains, and a sister, Alberta Gallagher.

Survivors include: sons, L.W. and Shelby Bruin, both of Falmouth, Ky.; daughters, Rubye L. Cooper of Berry, Ky. and Naomi Teegarden of Falmouth; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted Wednesday, June 16 at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth, by Bro. Bill Wilson and Bro. Chad Doerr.

Pallbearers were: Charles L. and Rodney L. Cooper, Terry L. Lonaker, Richard D., Robert W., and Bradley Bruin.

Honorary pallbearers were: David Bruin, Craig Schlueter, Kristen Schlueter, Sonny Lonaker, Timothy D., Charles E. Cooper, and Travis Lonaker.

Burial was in Bracken Memorial, Brooksville, Ky. Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Haven Nursing Home, Rodgers Park Dr. in Cynthiana.

David Barnett, 49

David Barnett, 49, of Falmouth, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at University of Cincinnati Hospital.

He was employed at Anderson Equipment Company in Falmouth, worked for 15 years in the Joey Wells Fishing for Kids Tournament and operated the distribution center in Falmouth during the 1997 flood along with his son, Mike.

Survivors include: his wife, Deborah Faith Barnett, an employee of the Cynthiana Democrat; a son, Michael Stephen (Jessica) Barnett of Alexandria and a granddaughter, Haley Jane Barnett.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2004 at Peoples Funeral Home in Falmouth. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Joseph "Joe" Franklin Williams, 64

Joseph "Joe" Franklin Williams , 64, died Thursday, June 17 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

Joe was born to the late Fred and Sallie Green (Smaer) Williams, Sr. of Cynthiana on June 27, 1939. Joe was educated at Cynthiana High School and, as a senior, was the first African American to participate in the high school band. Joe was a resident of Dayton, Ohio since 1959 where he was employed at Miami Valley Hospital for several years then retired from James Rivers/Flexible Packaging Company (Specialty Papers).

Joe was ordained in 1969 as a deacon at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, Dayton, Ohio, was a member of the Male Chorus, bowling league and a van driver for Canaan's senior citizens.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mothers, Rose Williams and Jessie Williams; brothers, Fred Jr. and James; sister, Mamie D. Heard; and sons, Joseph Jr. and Timothy E. Williams.

Joe is survived by his children, Glenda Marzette of Atlanta, Ga., Shuwanna and Dana Williams of Dayton, Ohio; Loretta (Severen) Gurnell of Houston, Texas, Mary E. (Liz) Bullock, Smyrna, Ga.; sisters Mary Lee (Aaron) Edmonds, Dayton, Ohio, Rose (Robert) Rhodes, Cincinnati, Ohio; brother William A. (Ann) Williams, Cynthiana; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

Henry Dean Marsh, 82

Henry Dean Marsh, 82, husband of Garnett Toadvine Marsh, died Friday, June 4, 2004 at his home in Harrison County. He was born August 29, 1921 in Harrison County to the late John David and Fannie McCauley Marsh. Mr. Marsh was a retired farmer, Army Veteran of World War II, and member and deacon of Salem Church of Christ. He was proceeded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Survivors other than his wife of 61 years are one daughter, Kathy Jump and her husband Steve, Franklin, Ky., one son, Danny Marsh and his wife Judy, Harrison County, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home, with burial in Battle Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 - 6 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Active pallbearers are J. Frank Marsh, Jerry Marsh, Don Marsh, Fred Marsh, Ledman Jewell, Doug Hampton, George Cunningham and Irvin Toadvine. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Brown, Marvin S. Ross, Ernest Duckworth, Jim Wilson, Gary Carter, Mike Marsh and George Egnew.

Jennifer C. 'Jenny' Duffy, 61

Jennifer C. 'Jenny' Duffy, 61, a resident of Lola Drive, Cynthiana, died Thursday, June 3, 2004.

She was born in Toledo, Ohio, March 8, 1943, to the late Robert and Grace Emery King. She was a registered nurse, a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, and the Cynthiana Lions Club.

Survivors include: her husband, Chuck Duffy; three daughters, Teresa (Tony) Nasser of West Harrison, Ind., Robyn (Tom) Culley of Marion, Ind., and Valerie (Mike) Ryan of Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother, Michael (Deb) King of Bellingham, Wash.; a sister, Amy (David) McNally of Columbus, Ohio; and four grandsons, Michael Culley, Isaac Nasser, Joe Nasser, and Daniel Ryan.

A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted Monday, June 7 at St. Edward Catholic Church by the Rev. Richard Frazier. A wake service was held Sunday evening. Graveside services were held Tuesday at St. Joseph Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harrison Memorial Hospital Building Fund.
