Jean Warren Stone Sullivan, 74

Jean Warren Stone Sullivan, 74, of Palm Coast Fla., died Thursday, June, 3, 2004 at Florida Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

A native of Harrison County, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Mabel Stone and widow of Richard Sullivan.

Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Kenneth Brock and Candace and Kevin Toole all of Winchester; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and David Gragg of Metropolis, Ill.; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; a niece and a nephew.

A memorial mass and burial will be held Thursday, June 24, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Palm Coast.

Joann Bean, 70

Joann Bean, 70, a resident of Grand Haven Nursing Home, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at the nursing home.

Born in Harrison County, March 22, 1934, to the late Calvin and Ida Mae Powell Henry, she was a retired cook at Martin's Rest Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Logan Bean; two special children, Kathleen and Jeffery Cummins; two brothers, Calvin Henry, Jr., and James Henry and a sister, Martha Mae Cummins.

Survivors include: two sisters, Maxine (Samuel) Bryant of Dayton, Ohio and Sandra (Leroy) Click of Cynthiana; two brothers, Gerald B. (Dorothy) Henry of Maysville and Ronald (Gloria) Henry of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Marie Henry of Lexington; five special children, Patricia (James) Thomas, Michael Cummins, Kirk Cummins, Roy L. Cummins and Byron Groves; two aunts, Amo Peters and Winifred Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church by Rev. Elgan Reynolds under the direction of Ware Funeral Home. Burial was in Cherry Grove Cemetery.

Ira Thomas "Tommy" Franklin, 85

Ira Thomas "Tommy" Franklin, 85, a resident of West Mill Street, Cynthiana, Ky., died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Harrison County on May 21, 1919, to the late Ira J. and Mattie Wash Franklin. He was a retired 3M Co. employee, a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, a World War II Army veteran, and a member of the American Legion Post 165.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marcellus Franklin and James Franklin, and two sisters, Julia Taylor and Eliza Blake.

Survivors include: his wife, Pauline L. Franklin; two daughters, Sharon (Charles Jr.) James of Dayton, Ohio, and Jacqueline (John) Custard of Bellevue, Neb.; a son, George Ferguson of Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers, Estill Franklin of Paris, and William E. (Mae) Franklin of Augusta, Ga.; four sisters, Mollie (John) White, Virginia (William) Logan, and Sara (Isaac) King, all of Lexington, and Mary McLemore of Dayton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Charles James Jr., Camille James, Carol Custard, Paulette Custard, Greg Custard, and John Custard; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 21 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church by the Rev. Elgan Reynolds. Burial was in Cherry Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Ware Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Loraine Gross, 86

Loraine Gross, 86, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Harrison County, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 at King Hospital in Tucson.

Born Sept. 17, 1918 to the late Isham and Annie Mae Hand Allen, she was a homemaker and member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Gross, Sr.

Survivors include: five sons, James Gross of Cynthiana, Charles Gross of Cynthiana, Willie Gross of Cynthiana, Melvin Gross of Lexington and John Gross of Lexington; two daughters, Mary Katherine Myles of North Dakota and Anne Paige of Tucson; a brother, Gene Allen of Cincinnati; a sister, Alberta Allen of Cincinnati; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church by Rev. Elgan Reynolds. Burial will be in Cherry Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7 at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ware Funeral Home.

Ollie Taylor, 84

Ollie Taylor, 84, of Cynthiana, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005 at the Thomson-Hood Veterans' Center in Wilmore, Ky.

Born in Carter County, June 22, 1920, to the late Andrew and Hannah Rogers Taylor, he was a retired Ladish Company employee and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Esta Sturgill Taylor and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include: a son, Ollie L. (Sue Ann) Taylor; four daughters, Charlotte (Gary) Northcutt, Connie (Billy Joe) Mullen, Brenda (Cooch) Hollar and Freda Grubbs, all of Harrison County; a sister, Leah Tabor of Sandy Hook; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22 at Ware Funeral Home. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Frankie Casey Taylor, 59

Frankie Taylor

Frankie Casey Taylor, 59, a resident of Cynthiana, died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Harrison County, March 9, 1947, to the late Fred and Lourena Casey Taylor. He was a retired Harrison Rural Electric Coop. and Lexington Army Depot employee, a Harrison County Magistrate for District 2, a member of Indian Creek Christian Church, and the Cynthiana Elks Lodge #438, and was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks. He was a former Cynthiana City Commissioner and former Team STS employee. He served on the Licking River RC&D; Council, Harrison County Board of Health, Community Action Advisory Council, Cynthiana-Harrison County Tourism committee, and the Rev. Ross Park committee.

He is survived by his wife, Paula McNabb Taylor; a son, Jonathan (Tanya Bates) Taylor, Cynthiana; a daughter, Lourena (Alan) Judy, Cynthiana; three brothers, Larry (Vickie) Taylor, B. J. (Dixie) Taylor and Bobby Taylor, all of Cynthiana; three sisters, Mattie (Givens) Ammerman, Bourbon County, Peggy (David) Cordray, Harrison County, and Neva Taylor, Anaheim, Calif.; two stepbrothers, Jimmy Haufler, Morehead and Gary Haufler, Lexington; two stepsisters, Jo Ann Florence and Beth Keeton, both of Goshen, Ohio; and six grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth Judy, Meredith Ann Judy, Hannah Casey Judy, Marissa Rachelle Taylor, Jacob Bates and Joseph Bates.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Anna Elizabeth Haufler; two brothers, Freddie Thomas Taylor and Donald Edward Taylor, and a stepbrother, Bobby Haufler.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 22 at 10 a.m. at Ware Funeral Home by the Rev. Bobby Duncan. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday with the Elks Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Indian Creek Christian Church or Cynthiana-Harrison County Recreational Park, 111 S. Main Street, Cynthiana, KY 41031.

James Cleo Marksbury, 78

James Cleo "Jimmy" Marksbury, 78, Bardstown Road, Springfield, died at 11:20 p.m. Aug. 2, 2003, at Norton Audubon Hospital, Louisville.

Born March 4, 1925, in Washington County, Marksbury was owner and operator of Jimmy's Electric Motor Service in Louisville, a Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of Beechmont Baptist Church in Louisville.

He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Theola Foster Marksbury; parents, Charlie and Nannie Lee Smith Marksbury; and a brother, Dudley Marksbury.

Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Courtney Marksbury; two sons, James C. Marksbury Jr. of Lanesville, Ind., and Gary L. Marksbury of Taylorsville; a stepson, Tony Adcox of Garfield; two stepdaughters, Rev. Alisa Carman of Garfield and Sheila Bradley of Louisville; three sisters, Jewell Hardin of Springfield, Christine Gray of Elizabethtown and Martha Brady of Lebanon; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Aug. 5 at Carey and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Springfield, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Willisburg. Rev. Bob Gray officiated. Rev. Anthony Gubitz assisted.

Pallbearers were Frankie Cambron, Danny Brady, Frankie Gray, James Young, James Moore and Daniel Moffett.

Carey and Son Funeral Home, Inc., was in charge of the arrangements.
