Virginia Dare (Deskins) Billiter passed away on July 17, 2014 in Richmond, KY at the
Hospice Compassionate Care Center.
She was 82 years old. Virginia was born on December 20, 1931 in Goody, KY. She married
Joe Edward Billiter on December 17, 1949 with whom she shared over 50 years of marriage
until his death on May 29, 2000. Their union brought them two beloved sons, Joseph Edward
Billiter and James William Billiter. In time, these sons gave her five grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren, eventually leading nearly everyone to call her "Granny."
Virginia also worked for nearly 30 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the hospital now
called Williamson ARH. Many there knew her as "Ginny" or "Billiter." Most of those years
were spent assisting with the delivery and care of newborns. Many of babies born at the hospital
during her career were lovingly rocked in her arms.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Joe, her son Joseph, her father John William
Deskins, her mother Agnes (Blackburn), her brothers John Deskins and Joe "Bob" Deskins, her
step father Fred Slater and several step-siblings.
Virginia is survived by her son James "JW" Billiter and the widow of her son Joseph, Evelyn
(Varney) Billiter. Virginia is survived by her five grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren;
namely, Brent (Jennifer) Billiter and their sons Dalton and Jesse; Shawna (Chad) Fite and their
children Natalie, Hannah and Nolan; Megan (Jeremy) Smith and their children Brayden and
Jocelyn; Joe Avery Billiter; Josie Dare Billiter and her daughter Callie. She also leaves behind a
host of loved ones and friends.
Services honoring the life of Virginia Dare (Deskins) Billiter will be held at R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home in Belfry, KY. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014 after 6 PM and
the funeral will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at 1:30 PM with Mark Helton officiating.
Entombment will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Huddy, KY.

Sidney Grant Norman, 49, of Matewan, WV, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014.
He was born June 29, 1965 in Chicago, IL, the son of Levi Norman
of Barrenshee, Ky. and the late Maggie Norman. He was also preceded
in death by one daughter, Amanda Nicole Norman.
He was a coal miner and a member of the Barrenshee Church of God.
Besides his Father he is survived by his wife, Rhonda Sue May
Norman of Matewan, WV; four brothers, Taylor (Oretha) Norman and
Ancie (Crystal) Norman both of Phelps, Ky., Howard (Sherry) Norman and Jasher (Tina)
Norman both of Freeburn, Ky.; two sisters, Dorothy (Randy) Mapes and Angela (Larry) Mounts
both of Freeburn, Ky.; two grandchildren, Rylie Jade Norman and Dalton Grant Norman both
of Matewan, WV and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 1 PM at the Barrenshee Church of
God with Robert Wolford, Odis Blankenship and Doug Maynard officiating. Burial will follow
in the Freeburn Community Cemetery, Freeburn, Ky. with Lee Mounts, Randy Mapes, Randall
Mapes, Shawn Norman, Taylor Norman, Jasher Norman, Brandon Norman, Steve Asbury and
Chris Asbury serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 PM Monday and Tuesday at the Barrenshee Church of God
with special services both nights at 7 PM.

Amanda Nicole Norman, 27, of Matewan, WV, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014.
She was born April 1, 1987 in Pikeville, Ky. the daughter of Rhonda
Sue May Norman of Matewan, WV and the late Sidney Grant
Norman. She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents,
Pauline Gooslin May and Harold May and her paternal grandmother, Maggie Norman.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Barrenshee Church of God.
Besides her mother she is survived by two children; Rylie Jade Norman and Dalton Grant
Norman of the home, grandfather; Levi Norman of Barrenshee, KY and several aunts, uncles,
cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 1 PM in the Barrenshee Church of
God with Robert Wolford, Odis Blankenship and Doug Maynard officiating. Burial will follow
in the Freeburn Community Cemetery, Freeburn, Ky. with David May, Jerry May, Brian May,
H.D. May, Steve May, Shawn Bench, Jacob Staton, Josh Staton, Christopher Stanley and
Austin Alley serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 PM Monday and Tuesday at the Barrenshee Church of God
with special services both nights at 7 PM.

Glenna Faye Taylor, 63, of Forest Hills, Ky. passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014.
She was born June 15, 1951, in Williamson, WV the daughter of the late Virgil and Ettice Runyon Taylor.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Taylor and two sisters, Esta Justice and Jean Huffstutler.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Shawn Taylor Francis of Williamson, WV; a daughter, Jerrie Lynn
Jackson of Aflex, KY; three brothers, Jerry Lee Taylor of Millard, KY, Allen Taylor of
Phoenix, AR and Waldo Taylor of Cresent City, CA; five sisters, Nan Johnson of Williamson,
WV, Rita Murdock of Iva, SC, Deloris Gancarski and Bonita Stepp both of St. Augustine, FL
and Sophia Taylor of South Williamson, KY; two grandchildren, Donald Caudill of Aflex, KY
and Corey Francis of Stopover, KY and a host of family and friends.
Per her request she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Harold Clifford Young, 76 of Varney, KY passed away Monday night, July 21, 2014 at his home.
He was born February 21, 1938 in Pike County, KY the son of the late
John B. and Martha McGuire Young. He was also preceded in death by his
wife, Gracie Irene Young; an infant brother and a half brother, Charles Wayne Ray.
Clifford was a retired coal miner, a member of the U.S. Army Reserve and of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include three daughters, Lela Carol Young Johnson of Pikeville, KY; Elizabeth
Jane Young of Varney, KY and Pamela Jean Young Hamilton of Virgie, KY; one sister, Lillian
Struhs of Arlington, VA; four grandchildren, Dustin Jeremiah Huttenstine, Heather Rene
Maynard, Benjamin Jordan Maynard and Christian Hamilton and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 1 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home Chapel with Gary Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Young-Ray Cemetery,
Varney, KY with Dustin Huttenstine, Benjamin Maynard, Christian Hamilton, Will White and
Philip Johnson serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 11 AM until time for the funeral Thursday at the Funeral Home.

Peggy Ruth Thompson Kohari, 86, of Chattaroy was welcomed into Heaven
with open arms Tuesday, July 22, 2014, where she was reunited with her
beloved husband Steve Kohari. She passed away at the Emogene Dolin Jones
Hospice House in Huntington, WV.
Our blessed mother was born October 23, 1927, to the late Alice Hash
Thompson and Roby Francis Thompson, of Chattaroy, WV. Momo, as she was
affectionately called by family, was a strong, independent and gracious lady.
She was a woman of wisdom, compassion and humor. Her shining smile and
quick wit endeared her to all she met and more importantly her family. Those
whose lives she touched were blessed. She enjoyed being a homemaker, raising her children and spending
valuable time with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader. One of her favorite recent activities was
watching "NCIS" with family. She was a member of the Chattaroy Missionary Baptist church, where she found
great comfort and peace throughout her life.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Angela Lousie
Bruni, brothers Douglas E. Thompson, Roby F. (Mary) Thompson, Jr., and sister Winona Thompson Hall.
She is survived by her children, Duane D. (Reta) Kohari of Charlotte, NC; Mary Jo (Doug) Dudley of Burnwell,
KY and Susie (Dominick) Bruni of Petroleum, WV; grandchildren Meredith Kohari of Raleigh, NC, Steven
(Jasmine) Dudley, of Henderson, NV, Dr. Mary Beth Dudley of Tucson, AZ, Joseph Bruni of Loveland, OH
and Amy Bruni of Grand Junction, CO; sisters Mildred Wampler, of Nashville, TN and Margaret Schroeder of
Live Oak, CA; brother in-law Joey (Margaret Ann) Kohari, of Chattaroy, WV; sisters-in-law Jewell Kohari, of
Nashville, TN, Jo Ann Kohari of Williamson, WV, and Barbara Kohari of Chattaroy, WV and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses of St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, WV for their
unique and dedicated devotion to mom and to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington for their
extra special kindness, gentleness and care not only to Mom but to the family. The family would also like to
express thanks to all those who visited with and called about mom these past two months, and to Otis and
Margaret Pinson, special friends and neighbor to mom.
The siblings and their families would like to extend their love and gratitude to their sister, Mary Jo, for her
extreme devotion, unwavering dedication and constant care for Mom over the years. Her efforts did indeed
enhance the quality of her long life.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Kohari, Tim Kohari, Mark Kohari, Otis Pinson, Moses Pinson, Larry
Thompson, Bill Hedrick, Paul Jerry Marcum and Barry Wampler. Pallbearers will be Gary Thompson, Darrell
Kohari, Barry Kohari, Chris Kohari, Charlie Dotson and Ben Brock.
R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, KY is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be held at
11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2014, at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with the Rev W. L. Bostic officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher. Visitation will be held Friday from 6:00 to
9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests you consider donations to either the Chattaroy Missionary Baptist
Church, PO Box 224, Chattaroy, WV 25667 or the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, PO Box 464,
Huntington, WV 25709.

James Truman "J.T." Bevins Sr. 83 of Meta, KY passed away Friday,
July 25, 2014 at his home.
He was born April 28, 1931 at Toler, Ky. the son of the late James
Arnold and Leola Pinson Bevins.
J.T. retired after 46 years with the N. & W. Railroad, was a veteran of
the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the Cedar Bottom
Old Regular Baptist Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel and served as
an Honorary Pike County Deputy Sheriff and Honorary Pike County
Judge Executive.
J.T. is survived by his loving wife of 52 years of marriage, Ethel Mae
Deskins Bevins of Meta, KY. To this union was born two sons, James T. (Lisa) Bevins of Red
Jacket, WV and William Matthew (Rebecca) Bevins of Meta, KY; one daughter, Cynthia
Darlene (Dale) Bishop of High Point, NC; two sisters, Lola Stine Canupp of Edgewater, FL and
Debra Lynn Waller of Dandridge, TN; four grandchildren, Joshua Bevins, Kirsten Bevins,
Garrett Bevins and Haden Bishop; two great grandchildren and his three wonderful in-home
caregivers, Jenny Preece, Nancy Blackburn and Charlene Cox.
J.T. was loved by many and surrounded by a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 1 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home Chapel with Gary Young, Lee Layne and Albert Cable officiating. Burial will follow in
the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky.
Visitation will be held from 6 - 9 PM Sunday and Monday in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home
Chapel with special services both nights at 7 PM.
