Kentucky Marriage Records by County

Howton
Sona Inez Howton, 80, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004 at Crittenden Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Boone and Marcia Miniard, both of Marion; one sister, Hazel Krauss of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Howton was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Howton; one son, James D. Howton; and one brother. Her parents were Herbert and Lonnie Hendrix.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Gilbert Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Thursday (today.)

Nunn
Martha Hester Nunn, 93, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004 at Crittenden Hospital.
A member of Marion United Methodist Church, Mrs. Nunn is survived by one son, David Nunn of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; one sister, Dorothy Lockhart of Marion; and one grandson, Ty Nunn of Seagrove, Fla.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Gilbert Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Garvey officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials take the form of donations to the Marion Methodist Church Building Fund.

Smiley
NASHVILLE, Tenn. ­ William O. "Bill" Smiley, 62, of Nashville, passed away at 8 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004 at his home.
His parents were Robert and Irene Smiley of Webster County, Ky. He was also preceded in death by a brother.
He was of the Protestant faith, and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Mr. Smiley is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carolyn Capshaw Smiley, of Nashville; one brother, Bob Smiley, of Pacific, Mo.; two sons, Mark Smiley of Nashville and Mike Smiley of Marion; two daughters, Shari Payne of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Sheila Tabor of Marion; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 26, at Townsend-Jones Funeral Home in Providence, Ky., followed by burial in Lakeview Cemetery, also in Providence. The Rev. Chip Pannell officiated.

Shack
Carolyn Shack, 60, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004 at Crittenden Hospital.
Mrs. Shack is survived by three daughters, Erica Shack and Ninia Morrison, both of Marion, and Tinia Bruton of Sturgis; six sisters, Brenda Johnson and Carolyn White, both of Colorado, Letitia Chapman of Indiana, Prestine Drane of Ohio, Mary Ann Moore of Michigan and Debbie Chapman of Paducah, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents were Firdie Mae Chapman and William Qualls. She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Bruton.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 at Gilbert Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Hill officiating. Burial followed in Lewis Cemetery.

Wood
Stanley D. Wood, 46, of Marion, passed away at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004 at his home.
Mr. Wood is survived by his father, Everett Woodall of Marion; sister, Donna Shewcraft of Marion; grandparents, James and Mary Boone of Marion; two nephews and one niece.
A memorial service was held Sunday, Jan. 25 at Mexico Church. Gilbert Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Stalion
Edna Mae Stalion, 75, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004 at her home.
She was a member of Glendale General Baptist Church.
Survivors include one brother, Bobby Gene Winders of Paducah.
Mrs. Stalion was preceded in death by her husband, Randall Stalion, three sisters and one brother. Her parents were Grover and Violet Winders.
Friends may call at the Gilbert Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Thursday (today). Services are 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jimmy Porter and the Rev. Tony Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Love Cemetery.

Robertson
Joe Robertson, 83, of Marion, passed away at 5:13 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004 at his home.
A farmer and school bus driver for 22 years, Mr. Robertson was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Freedom General Baptist Church. He also once held office as a magistrate in Crittenden County.
He is survived by a wife, Ruth E. Robertson of Marion; two sons, Roger Robertson of Corydon and Denver Robertson of Marion; one daughter, Bernice Tolbert of Smith Mills, Ky.; one brother, Jim Robertson of Marion; five grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Robertson.
Services were Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Gilbert Funeral Home with the Rev. Loyd Harris, the Rev. Robert Phillips, and the Rev. Keith Davis officiating. Burial followed in Freedom Cemetery.

Cruce
LOUISVILLE ­ Christine Cruce, 99, formerly of Marion, passed away at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004 at Baptist Hospital East.
Mrs. Cruce was preceded in death by her husband, George Cruce. Survivors include two daughters, Helen Cruce of Louisville and Mary Jean Fear of Newton, Ill.; two cousins, James Robert Dorrah of Marion and Roberta Conger of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 17 at Gilbert Funeral Home, followed by burial in Crayne Cemetery.

Clark
Joseph Clark, 83, of Marion, Ky., passed away at 10:50 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004 at Salem Springlake Care Center.
Mr. Clark is survived by a wife, Retha Clark of Marion; two sons, Joseph W. Clark of Saugerties, N.Y., and Russell A. Froedge of Fyffe, Ala.; three daughters, Katherine Lane of Kingston, N.Y., Shelley J. Lambert of Sharpsburg, Ga., and Eunice A. Kimsey of Marion; and two sisters, Janie Powell of Aiken, S.C., and Ruth Hooper of Warrenville, S.C.
His parents were Paul and dora Williams Clark. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Services were Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Boyd Funeral Chapel in Salem with the Rev. Walzie Hosick officiating. Burial was in Deer Creek Cemetery.

Moore
MT. VERNON, Ill. ­ Bessie E. Moore, 87, of Mt. Vernon, formerly of Carrsville, Ky., passed away at 3 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2004 at Mt. Vernon Care Center.
Mrs. Moore was a member of Carrsville Methodist Church and attended Mt. Vernon Church of God.
She is survived by four sons, Paul Moore and Larry Moore, both of Salem, Carl Moore of Jonesboro, Ill., and Gary Moore of Marion; three daughters, Katherine Myers of Gardendale, Ala., Margaret Grimmett of Man, W.V., and Annabell Orrick of Mt. Vernon; 18 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Her parents were W. Bird and Ina McDowell Bateman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray Moore; two sons, Morris Zane Moore and Glen Moore; and two brothers.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday (today) at Boyd Funeral Home in Salem, Ky. Services are 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sherman Grimmett, the Rev. Merlin Myers and the Rev. Ted Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
