Claude Goble
Claude Goble, age 86, of Dwale, Ky., died Sunday, January 13, 2002, following an extended illness.
Born on August 17, 1915, at Bull Creek, Ky., he was the son of the late William and Alice Calhoun Goble. He was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the Church of God, and UMWA.
He was married to the late Pauline Compton Goble on September 10, 1938.
He is survived by his second wife, Ezel Slone Goble; his six children and two step-children, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Goble of New Symera Beach Fla.; Mr. Jack Goble of Lexington, Ky.; Mr. and Mrs. Claude (J.R.) Goble Jr. of Spring Hill Fla., Mr. Paul Douglas Goble of Ypsilanti, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. David Rick Goble of Prestons-burg, Ky.
The late William Thomas Goble preceded him in death.
Stepchildren: Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Slone of Tenn. and Mrs. Linzetta Robinson of Mouthcard, Ky., and survived by 13 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Kim Farnum, Jimmy Goble, Jeff Goble, Paul A. Goble, Steven Goble, Jennifer Caldwell, Jacob Claude Goble, Ronnie Goble, Tonya Waddle, Matthew Goble, Krystal Litteral, Jackson Goble, David Proctor; two stepchildren, Jason and Rachel Robinson and 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Oakie Goble of Dwale, Ky.; two sisters, Irene Enix of Ohio, and Billie Jean Jewell of Dwale, Ky. Also preceded him in death were four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 17, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., at Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Ky., with Ray Sayers officiating.
Burial will be in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, Ky., under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are: Richard Goble, Jack Goble, J.R. Goble, Paul Goble, Rick Goble and Johnny Judd.

Ruby R. Hale
Ruby R. Hale, of Mansfield, Ohio, died Saturday evening at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital, following a brief illness.
Ruby was born August 4, 1924, in Weeksbury, Ky., the daughter of the late William and Virgie Ward. A Mansfield resident for more than 50 years, Ruby spent most of her life loving and caring for her family, serving the Lord, Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Grace Evangelical Free Church, and delighted in sharing her faith with her many friends and relatives.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Stan and Linda Hale of Gahanna, Ohio, Gregory and Jennifer Hale of Mansfield, and William and Gale Hale of Lucas, Ohio; one daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Kenneth Cline of Mansfield; two sisters, Bernice Gibson and Marie Hall of Kentucky; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William D. Hale in 1996; one sister, Norma Turner of Kentucky, and two brothers, Donald Ward of Urbana, Ohio, and G.C. “Buck” Ward of Michigan.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 23, 2002, at 10:30 a.m., at the Ontario home of Wappner Funeral Directors, with Reverend Dennis Nezrick officiating.
Burial will be in Ashland County Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Evangelical Free Church, 536 Kentucky Avenue, Mansfield, Ohio, 44905.
Visitation is at the funeral home.

Bolten H. Martin
Bolten H. Martin, age 79, of Eastern, Ky., husband of the late Hazel Moore Martin, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2002, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, Ky.
He was born August 19, 1922, in Eastern, Ky., the son of the late Sol D. Martin and Della Gayheart Martin. He was a retired heavy equipment operator, a World War II Army veteran, and a lifetime member of the DAV.
Survivors include one son, Bolten Martin Jr., and his wife, Debra, of Eastern, Ky.; three brothers, Theodore Martin and Bernard Martin, both of Eastern, Ky., Willie Martin of Printer, Ky.; three sisters, Ova Warrens of Eastern, Ky., Nancy Bolen of Garrett, Ky., Madge Moore of Lansing, Mi.; one grandchild, Christa Nicole Martin; one step-grandchild, Brandy Nicole Everage, and one great-grandchild, Austin Dye.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 18, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with Clergyman Jerry Manns officiating.
Burial will follow in the Martin Cemetery, Eastern, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.

Roberta Hall
Roberta Hall, age 59, of Lackey, Ky., passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2002, at the St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Ky.
She was born December 3, 1943, in Drift, Ky., the daughter of the late Dock Hall and Judy Howell Hall.
Survivors include one brother, Raymond Hall of Raven, Ky.; two sisters, Helen Galati of Marion, Ohio, and Hattie Staggs of Lackey, Ky.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 19, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., at the Martin Branch Freewill Baptist Church, Estill, Ky., with the clergyman, Clinton “Buddy” Jones, and others, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lackey Cemetery, Lackey, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation is at the church.

Ada Prater
Ada Prater, age 78, of Garrett, Ky., widow of Sol Bud Prater, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2002, at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital, Ashland, Ky.
She was born March 19, 1923, in Garrett, Ky., the daughter of the late Kendall Sparkman and Linda Conley Sparkman.
Survivors include two sons, Russell Gene Prater of East Lake, Ohio, Frank D. Prater of Garrett, Ky.; two daughters, Dorothy E. Teel and Frances K. Henson, both of Hueysville, Ky.; two sisters, Stella M. Carpenter and Louise Sexton, both of Willard, Ohio, 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer Sparkman, Lacy Sparkman and Henderson Sparkman; two sisters, Gladys Hansford and Ollie Prater.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 14, 2002, at 1 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the clergymen, Clinton “Buddy” Jones and Mitchell Shepherd, officiating.
Burial followed in the Prater Cemetery, Hueysville, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home. Nightly services were conducted at 7:00 p.m.
Pallbearers: Russell Prater Jr., Clayton Teel Jr., John Henson, Charles Prater, Ricky Johnson, Junior Prater, Larry Pitts, Shawn Henson, and Jeremy Risner.

Helen Prater
Helen Prater, age 85, of Hueysville, Ky., widow of Temp Prater, passed away Friday, January 4, 2002, at the Crestmark of Rose Lawn, Rose Lawn, Indiana.
She was born December 17, 1916, in Hueysville, Ky., the daughter of the late Oak Cooley and Rosetta Osborne Cooley. She was a former cook for the Floyd County School System, and was a member of the Bethel Regular Baptist Church, Maytown, Ky.
Survivors include three sons, Gene R. Prater of Prestonsburg, Ky., Charles Walker Prater of Langley, Ky., Darwin Prater of Inez, Ky.; three daughters, Loretta Frasure of Crown Point, In., Erma Jackson of Eastern, Ky., Diana Watts of Hueysville, Ky.; three brothers, Toby Cooley and Iris Cooley, both of Hippo, Ky., Dorlan Cooley of Hueysville, Ky.; one sister, Geneva Prater of Hueysville, Ky., 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Helen Prater were conducted Monday, January 7, 2002, at 1 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial followed in the John Wess Prater Cemetery, Hueysville, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Pallbearers: Tom Pritt, Matthew Pritt, Joshua Pritt, Jacob Pritt, Steve Prater, Josh Martin, Jeremy Nichols, Tyler Adkins, and Kevin Frasure.

Grace Evelyn Martin Bryan
Grace Evelyn Martin Bryan, 85, of (Meade Branch), Prestonsburg, died Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at the Highlands Re-gional Medical Cen-ter, following an extended illness.
Born November 11, 1917, in Prestonsburg, she was the daughter of the late Grover C. Martin and Mary Coburn Martin. She was a former legal secretary and a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include one sister, Norcie M. Miller of Prestonsburg; one brother, Bernard Martin of David; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Columbus B. Martin, and one sister, Minnie E. Martin.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 1, at 11 a.m., at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mark Walz officiating.
Interment will be in the Elliott Family Cemetery, (Meade Branch), Prestonsburg.
Visitation is Friday, at 2 p.m., at the funeral home.
Carter Funeral Home is serving the Bryan family.
Pallbearers: Joshua Blanton, Brad Wells, Russel Hager, Phillip William Elliott, Phillip Elliott and Michael D. Blanton.
