Eileen Carter Dilmon
(June 12, 1927 - September 10, 2013)

Eileen Carter Dilmon – “Nannie”

Jesus has called Nannie home today to be with Rusty, her husband of more than 60 years and to reunite with her youngest son, John Allen, who was lost at a very young age. Eileen was a native of Rose Hill, Virginia, her little piece of heaven on earth and longtime resident of Zachary, Louisiana. Although during her life she worked numerous jobs, she retired from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System where she served as a School Bus Aid for many of “her kids”. This was a very rewarding occupation for her and she touched the lives of many children and many of them touched her heart as well. Beside her love of her family, she enjoyed fishing, traveling to the mountains of Virginia, gardening, embroidery and taking care of her hummingbirds each spring and summer. Nannie was preceded in death by her husband and soul mate Roscoe “Rusty” Dilmon, youngest son John Allen Dilmon, her parents Byrd Cheek and Mable Young Cheek, three sisters, Alfie, Elsie and Della Daniels and her step parents John and Mary Carter. She is survived by her oldest son, Joseph Dilmon and wife Bonnie, her granddaughter Emily Nevarez and husband Javier and her single great grandchild, Emma Grace Nevarez…her “little baby with the black hair”. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 from 5pm until 8pm and continues on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2013 from 9am until service at 10am conducted by Dr. Greg Davis. Eileen’s final resting place will be the Lee Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Rose Hill, Virginia. Honorary pallbearers are Kemp Amacker, MD, John Hawkins, Tom Ed McHugh and her fishing buddies, Joe Messina and David Dewey. Many thanks to all the friends and neighbors from the Zachary community over these many years. Special thanks to the Management and Staff of Lane Regional Medical Center, Oakwood Village Assisted Living facility and Grace Health and Rehab Center for the love and care provided. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
