Edward Loyd Forbes "Sonny"
April 20, 1927 - May 21, 2012

A US Navy Veteran WWII and a retired operator with 38 years of service at Ethyl Corp., died Monday, May 21, 2012 at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary, LA. He was 85 years old, born in Walker, LA and a life long resident of Pride, LA. Visiting will all be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Zachary on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm conducted by Elder George Forbes and assisted by Gordon Segraves. Burial will be in Sandy Creek Cemetery, Pride, LA. He is survived by his daughter, Ramona Dianne Forbes Herrington and husband Lewis, Two Grandchildren, Pattianne Herrington and Murphy Edwards, one great grandchild, Charles Herrington, son in law, Richard Edwards, all of Pride, Three brothers, George Forbes and wife Dorothy, Alfred Forbes and wife Joyneen and Merlin Ray Forbes and wife, Vickie and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Leona Montgomery Forbes, daughter, Carolyn Anne Edwards, parents, William Jessie Forbes and Sarah Dreher Forbes, three brothers, Willie, Sammie and Jessie Forbes, four sisters, Connie Covington Sibley, Eloise Stone, Lula Belle Mitchell and Elnora McGowan. Pallbearers will be Lewis Herrington, Roy Forbes, Eric Forbes, Kevin Forbes, Matt Tucker and Edmond LeBlanc. Special thanks to Dr. Kemp Amacker and the staff of Lane Regional Medical Center for all their help and compassion shown to my daddy during his illness. Sonny, as he was known by everyone who knew him, deeply loved his family, he liked to hunt and fish, ride his golf cart through the woods, and most of all, he cherished his great grandson Charles, watching him play and grow up. He called him "My Little Buddy". Daddy, I love you with all my heart. I miss you so much. I know you have joined mama and Carolyn. We will be together again someday. Love, Dootsie.

Annette Licklider
(September 30, 1941 - May 30, 2012)

Annette Fortenberry Licklider, a retired nurse from Baton Rouge, died on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Baton Rouge General Hospital on Bluebonnet. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 9am until funeral services at 11am, conducted by her son, Rev. Ricky Barnes. She is survived by her husband, Jim Licklider; one daughter, Paula Barnes Thompson and her husband Charlie of Royse City, TX; two sons, Ricky Barnes and his wife Cindy of Greenwell Springs; and Byron Barnes of Zachary; one sister, Hellen Louise Gill of Norwood; two brothers, Hubert Fortenberry Jr. and his wife Betty of Chesbrough, LA; and Bruce Fortenberry and his wife Sherry, also of Chesbrough; seven grandchildren: Ernest Scott Barnes, Erin Annette Barnes, Lanna Barnes Sprecher, John Tyler Lawson, C.J. Thompson, Nanci Barnes, and David Paul Barnes; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Fortenberry and Ludie DeLee. She was a great cook, and loved being with her family, above all other things.

Charlie David Partin
March 2, 1932 - May 21, 2012

Charlie David Partin, a resident of Wakefield, LA, and a self-employed mechanic, died on Monday, May 21, 2012 at the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge. He was a loving husband and father, who will be dearly missed. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, LA on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 9am until services at 11am, conducted by Rev. Lee Ostten. Burial will be in the family cemetery in Wakefield. He is survived by three daughters, Maxine Wall of McComb, MS; Violet Hanner of Denham Springs; Yvonne Neal and her husband Wally of Wakefield; four sons: David Partin and his wife Wanda of Denham Springs, LA; Charlie Ray (Chubby) Partin and his wife Nellie of St. Francisville, LA; Mervin Partin of Brookhaven, MS; Raymond Hanner and his wife Dora of Denham Springs, LA; one sister, Edna Collier of Greenwell Springs; four brothers, Earnest Partin of Gloster, MS; Andrew Partin and his wife Sue of Gloster, MS; Alvin Partin and his wife Nell of Jackson, LA; Carl Partin of Gloster, MS; twenty-one grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Janie Mae and Ben Partin; his wife Beatrice Partin; one daughter, Wanda Hanner; one granddaughter, Emily; one grandson Jacob Partin; one great-grandson, Aaron Wall; one great-granddaughter, Jessica Wall; two sisters, Eulone Havard and Ruby Havard; and five brothers: Seith, W.C., Albert, Lawrence, and D.J. Pallbearers will be Randy Wall, Henry Wall, Johnnie Wall, Ronnie Wall, Brandon Edwards, and John Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be Wally Neal, Daniel Philebar, and Paul Neal.

Michael Thomas Fields "Mike"
December 29, 1969 - May 17, 2012

A resident of Clinton, he died May 17, 2012. He was 42 years old and a native of Baton Rouge. Graveside service will be at 2pm on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Baker. He is survived by his parents, Harvey G. and Mary T. Fields, III, grandmother, Elva Timme, brother, Mark G. Fields, and niece and nephew, Desirae Rochelle Fields and Mark Lane Fields. He enjoyed fishing , hunting and motorcycle riding. He was a graduate of Southeastern with a BA in Business

Henry Louis Cox, Sr.
March 15, 1923 - May 15, 2012

A retired Mechanical Area Supervisor with Exxon with 30 years of service, he died May 15, 2012 at his home in Ethel. He was 89 years old. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, on Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and continues on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 12:30 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. conducted by Dr. Joe Nesom. Burial will be at Redwood Cemetery, Slaughter. He is survived by his sons, Henry L. Cox, Jr.; Michael D. Cox and wife, Pam Thomas Cox; and Richard D. Cox and wife, Sharon Brown Cox. Sisters, Katie Reid and Helen Flower. Brothers, Leroy Cox and Morris Cox. 13 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter, Faith. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Vnyce Cruse Cox; parents, George "IB" and Ida Mae "Cocky" Cox, siblings, Myrtle Morgan, Floyd Cox, Clarence Cox. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. He was a 32 degree Mason with Istrouma Lodge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Redwood Cemetery Association, PO Box 247, Slaughter, LA 70777.

Nova Dee Smelley
(October 27, 1925 - August 20, 2012)

Nova Dee Smelley, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Monday, August 20, 2012. She was 86 years old and was employed for a total of 30 years with Polk Chevrolet and Gerry Lane Enterprises. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Elon B. Smelley, Jr. Four children and their spouses, Buster and Sherry Smelley, Gary and Laurel Smelley, Debra and Marty Caruso and Dianne and Les Anderson. 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Dovie Bane, and great-grandchild, Aidan Babineaux. Pallbearers will be her 6 grandsons, Ray, Doug, Michael, Barrett and Marshall Smelley and Ryan Anderson. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., in Zachary, on Friday, Aug. 24, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. until service at 1:30 p.m. conducted by Dr. Terry Ellis. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, Clinton.

Clyde Arvey Gentry
(July 25, 1917 - August 20, 2012)

Clyde Arvey Gentry, died August 20, 2012 at 95 years of age, at the Louisiana War Veterans Nursing Home in Jackson, La. He is survived by his two step-daughters Brenda Christensen (husband Tom Christensen), Sandra Carter (husband Gary Carter), 6 grandchildren: Michael Fontenot, Aaron Christensen, Beverly Matthews, Gary Carter Jr., Adam Carter and Leslie Lagrange, 8 great grandchildren: Christian, Alexandra and Elizabeth Fontenot, Olive and Lily Christensen, Freddy and Allene Matthews and Oliver Carter, brother: Eugene Gentry, niece: Margie Walters and cousins, family, and friends. He is preceded by his wife Agnes Gentry, step-daughter Cathy Lagrange, parents Arthur and Sarah Francis Gentry, brothers James, Richard, William, Creston, Karl, and sisters Mamie, Annie Sue, Flora Bell and Wilma. He retired from Sears after 25 years of service and then worked many years repairing appliances to pass time. He loved to play country music and played the bass for many years. He enjoyed spending time with people talking and telling stories.Clyde was in the US Army in WW II serving from 1942-1945. He served in the battles of Normandy, Northern France, Central Europe, Rhineland and Ardennes and received a medal of good conduct award and a European African Middle Eastern service medal with 1 Silver Star.Our family would like to thank the staff at the Louisiana War Veterans Nursing Home in Jackson, La. for the special care given to Clyde and the concerns and comfort that they provided throughout his time at the facility.Visitation will be held on Aug. 24, 2012 from 8:00am till 9:30am at the Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., located at 4230 High Street, Zachary, Louisiana 70791. Burial will be at the Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary, La. at 10:30am the same morning. Pallbearers will be Gary Carter, Jr., Adam Carter, Bobby Matthews, and George Walters. Clyde was truly loved and will be missed by all who knew him. May he be blessed with eternal peace.
