Charles J. Caddoo '36, March 12, 1999, in Florida, at 87. He was a teacher and coach in Washburn and Caribou, Maine, until 1941, then taught in Milton, Mass., until his retirement in 1974. Predeceased by his brother, William H. Caddoo '32, he is survived by his wife of 65 years, Daisy, two sons, a sister and several grandchildren.
Cleo Tuttle Henderson '36, April 21, 1999, in Penacook, N.H., at 86. She was a teacher and principal at Milo (Maine) Elementary School for 14 years and a librarian at Garland Street Junior High School in Bangor, Maine. She is survived by three daughters, Gayle LaVallee, Joan Henderson and Jane Bunting, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Barbara Frazee Haynes '37, March 12, 1999, in Bath, Maine, at 83. She was an active member of several community and church organizations. Surviving are her three daughters, Carol Young, Sharon Haynes and Barbara Witham, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Paul H. Landry '37, April 26, 1999, in Waterville, Maine, at 86. After service as a quartermaster first class in the Navy during World War II he was a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years. Survivors include his wife, Cecile, a son and stepson, two granddaughters, five sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Richard W. Dow '38, April 11, 1999, in South Portland, Maine, at 82. He served with the Navy in the Pacific during World War II. For many years he was a heavy equipment salesman for Southworth Machine and N.A. Burkett. Predeceased by his son, Richard Dow Jr. '69, he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eleanor, a daughter, his brother, Norman R. Dow Jr. '37, and six grandchildren.
Irene Rockwood Johnson '38, January 18, 1999, in Petersham, Mass., at 82. She worked for the Baltimore, Md., Visiting Nurse Association and for the Cambridge, Mass., Visiting Nurse Association. She was active in anti-war demonstrations during the Vietnam War and as a committed Quaker spent time in prison. She leaves her husband of 56 years, Russell Johnson Jr., two sons, a daughter and four grandchildren.
Ira L. McGown '38, September 26, 1998, in Bangor, Maine, at 82. After serving with the Marine Corps during World War II he was a data processing manager with Bangor and Aroostook Railroad from 1951 to 1960 and with Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. from 1960 until his retirement in 1983. Survivors include his wife, Marguerite, a son and a daughter.
Leo Sparber '38, August 22, 1998, in Indiana, at 81. He served in the Army during World War II. Survivors include his son.
Mary Lillian Healy Orr '39, February 15, 1999, in Reston, Va., at 83. A secretary, teacher and homemaker, she is survived by her husband of 53 years, Forrest, two daughters and a son, two brothers and five grandchildren.
Donald B. Read '39, March 29, 1999, in Franklin, N.C., at 85. He had a long career in the insurance industry and was a member of several insurance associations. Survivors include his wife, Barbara.
Mildred Colwell Stevens '39, February 9, 1999, in Waterville, Maine, at 81. She taught for three years before her marriage to Machaon E. Stevens '39, then made her home in Maine and raised four children. Survivors include her children and a granddaughter, Lauren Stevens '01.
