Ruth Cameron Savage '41, December 30, 1998, in Hilo, Hawaii, at 78. She was a native of and lifelong resident of Hawaii.
Bettina Barter Richardson '42, February 21, 1999, in Florida, at 77. She was the financial secretary for the Stonington (Maine) Methodist Church for more than 40 years and was active in the Red Cross, the Republican Party and many other organizations. She is survived by her daughter, Sally Rice, two grandsons and several cousins, including Donna Barter Billings '49.
Harold C. Paul '43, March 6, 1999, in Scarborough, Maine, at 80. He was a Navy aviator and flight instructor in World War II. A professional actor and theater manager, he was a professor of speech and theater at Concord College in West Virginia for 23 years. Surviving are his wife, Cathryn, two daughters, Cecily Lynett and Deirdre Paul '85, and his son, Michael Paul '87.
Millicent Bolling Smith '43, December 25, 1998, in Washington, D.C., at 77. She was principal of Jonathan Law High School in Milford, Conn., until her retirement in 1987. She served on a number of education committees and continued to sing in her local Congregational Church choir. Predeceased by her daughter and granddaughter, she is survived by her sister, Delores Bolling.
Barbara White Haddad '44, November 25, 1998, in Providence, R.I., at 76. She participated in numerous stage productions and served as president of the local garden club in Cumberland, R.I. In Providence she served several clubs and committees and volunteered for other nonprofit organizations. She is survived by two sons, E. Alexander Haddad and Christopher Haddad, two daughters, Jane Haddad and Laila Haddad, a sister, and three granddaughters.
Ethelyn Fletcher Ferguson '48, January 2, 1999, in Bangor, Maine, at 72. She was a school teacher for many years in Madison and was active in several Bangor organizations. Survivors include her son, Bill Ferguson, a sister and two nephews.
Eileen Lanouette Hughes '48, October 8, 1998, in Florence, Italy, at 73. She was a reporter and a correspondent for Life magazine. Later she was a journalist with Life's Rome bureau and wrote a column for the Rome Daily American. She left to become director of public relations at New York University and later at Fordham University. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Larkin Hughes and Kathleen Murphy, a brother and four grandchildren.
Frances Terry Power '49, January 15, 1999, in Fayette, Maine, at 71. She worked at the family business, Terry's Braided Rug Shop, in Waterville, Maine, then moved the business to Fayette and continued operating the store until her death. Survivors include her husband, Keith Power, four daughters, a stepson, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Antoinette Klament Townsend '50, June 7, 1999, in Timonium, Md., at 70. She was treasurer of Townsend Explosives for 31 years. Previously she worked in the business offices of telephone companies. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth, three daughters, her mother and three grandchildren.
Robert L. Brigham '51, December 7, 1998, in North Port, Fla., at 67. He worked for Life magazine as an editor in New York, correspondent in Chicago and bureau chief in Moscow. Later he was co-owner of the York County Coast Star in Kennebunk, Maine. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, two daughters and his brother, Chester Brigham '50.
