William “Bill” Robert Jordan

William “Bill” Robert Jordan of Eaton Rapids, age 97, passed away Friday, January 16, 2009 in Charlotte. Bill was born October 23, 1911 in Kalamo Twp., Eaton County, Michigan, the son of Clifford and Ruby (Keith) Jordan. He was formerly employed with Hansen Packing Co., Miller Dairy Farms (ice cream plant), and Eaton Rapids Community Hospital, retiring in 1976. Bill loved fishing and especially for Blue Gills. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in 1991; and sister, Kathleen Smuts.

Bill is survived by 2 daughter, Marilyn (Charles) Rogers of Spokane, WA, and Janice (Jerry) Lyon of Eaton Rapids; 6 grandchildren, Randolph Prieur, Sheila (Sean) Barker, Eric Lyon, David (Glenda) Lyon, Michael Lyon, Russell (Shelley) Lyon; 7 great grandchildren, Travis & Tim Lyon, Mary Lindstrom, Paul, Debbie & Carol Lyon and Talia Barker; 4 great-great grandchildren, Alex, Gabe, Jakob & Elizabeth Lindstrom.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids, with interment following at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Catherine Joan Jury

Catherine Joan Jury of Eaton Rapids, age 88, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2009 at her residence. Catherine was born June 13, 1920 in St. Johns, MI, the daughter of Anthony and Veronica Elizabeth (Uhaus) Vitek. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. Catherine was a dairy farmer’s wife and a super mom. Preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Jury; grandson, Justin Jury; sisters, Mary Vitek, Julia Vitek, Helen Hoffman, Elizabeth Docker; brothers, Louis & Tony Vitek.

Catherine is survived by 2 daughter, Jeanette Nestle of Grand Rapids, Nadine Jury of Eaton Rapids; 3 sons, Dana (Peggy) Jury of Davison, Stephen (Sharon) Jury of St. Johns, Michael Jury of Holden, MS; 6 grandchildren, Mark (fiancé, Chris Vollema) Braun, Lynn Braun, Christ, Jennifer & Tom Jury, Jon Jury; 1 great granddaughter, Samantha Perkins; and sister-in-law, Agnes Argersinger of Ithaca.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be prayed 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 515 E. Knight, Eaton Rapids, with interment following at Munger Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday from 204 and 6-8 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids. www.shellyodell.com.

Jack Keeny

Jack Keeny, 83, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility after a lengthy illness. Jack was born June 24, 1926 in Charlotte, the son of Ward and Nora (Carpenter) Keeny and was a life resident of Charlotte. He had attended Charlotte Schools, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, had been employed as Die Head at A. E. Hoover in Charlotte from where he retired in 1988 and was an avid bowler.

He is survived by: his loving wife of 54 years, Arlene (Kipp) Keeny; sister, Elaine Lundstrum of Coldwater and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elsie Keeny and brother, Kenneth Keeny.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service was held Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 at the Bosworth Cemetery in Olivet with Rev. Charles Jenson officiating.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Eaton Community Hospice, 2675 S. Cochran Rd., Charlotte, MI 48813. Arrangements were made by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte.

Margaret Kelley

Margaret Kelley, 60, of Nashville, passed away Aug. 11, 2009 at Eaton Community Hospice House. She was born Sept. 11, 1948, the daughter of Robert and Yvonne Leach.

Margo enjoyed the sun, living most of her life in Florida, enjoyed crocheting and was an avid Jeff Gordon fan.

Surviving are her daughter, Britten Kelley and son, Shannon Kelley; three grandsons, Clint, Cyle and Cullen and one granddaughter, Ryen.

A private service will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made to the Eaton Community Hospice House.

Beulah Kellogg

Beulah (Melvin) Kellogg died on Sept. 15 outside of Washington, D.C. She was born on the family farm in Walton Township to Albert and Eva (Thurman) Melvin on Jan. 30, 1921. Beulah attended the Mahan Country School and graduated from Olivet High School in 1938. She married Gerald Kellogg of Olivet on Aug. 23, 1941. Beulah and Gerald had a daughter, Linda, and lived in Charlotte for 30 years. Beulah was an active member of the Charlotte Women’s Club and the First Congregational Church. She was also a member of the Cameron Parish Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where her daughter serves as regent. Gerald and Beulah left Charlotte after General Motors Corporation transferred Gerald to the Parts Division in Flint. They lived in Flint for 26 years before Gerald died and, two years later, Beulah moved to Reston, Va., to be near her daughter. In addition to Gerald, Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ernest and Maurice Melvin; and two sisters, Gladys Lomax and Marie Bulger. Beulah is survived by her daughter, Dr. Linda Kellogg Petersen (Dr. Phillip Arthur), a 1966 graduate of Charlotte High School; grandsons, archeologist Shane Christian (Tammy Elise) of Durham, NC, and attorney Ryan Nathaniel of New York City, NY; great grandson, Connor Nathaniel and great granddaughter, Brianna Elise of Durham, NC, as well as nieces and nephews. Interment and a graveside service was held Thursday, Sept. 17,2 009 at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte with Rev. Tom Jones officiating.

Myrtle “Myrt” E. Kendall

Age 77, passed away, Saturday November 21, 2009 in Forest City, NC. She was born in Eaton Rapids, January 3, 1932, the daughter of Earl W. and Ethel M. (Priest) Higdon. Myrtle was a surgical nurse at the Eaton Rapids Community Hospital. She retired after 39 years of service. Myrtle enjoyed repairing and collecting dolls. She also enjoyed chasing hot air balloons.

She is survived by daughter, Terri (Stan) Swift of Eaton Rapids; son, Jim (Bonnie) Kendall of Marion, NC; grandchildren, Jeremiah (Katie) Swift, Timothy Swift and Jamie (Dan) Lease; great grandchildren, Grant, Braydon and Evan; sister, Arlene Andreas; brother, Ralph Higdon; many nieces, nephews and her extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Kendall; sisters, Alice Higdon, Lillian Dillin; brothers, Floyd (Fedema) Higdon; brother’s-in-law, John Andreas, Ed Dillin; sister-in-law, Margie Higdon.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. November 25, 2009 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main. St., Eaton Rapids with Pastor David Kingsbury officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery.

Jean Elizabeth (Thelen) Kennicott

Jean Elizabeth (Thelen) Kennicott, 59, passed away at her home in Eaton Rapids July 7, 2009, surrounded by her family. She was born May 19, 1950 in St. Johns, the daughter of Paul and Mary Jane (Harry) Thelen.

Jean was a graduate from Pewamo Westphalia High School class of 1968.

She retired from the State of Michigan in 2002, where she worked with the Department of Natural Resources for 28 years.

Jean enjoyed flower gardening, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, James Elmer Kennicott of Eaton Rapids; daughter, Shelley (George) Lahanas of East Lansing; son, Scott (Tracy) Thelen of DeWitt; three grandchildren, Landon Thelen, Eleni and Marina Lahanas; mother, Mary Jane Thelen of Westphalia; brothers, Daniel (Hope) Thelen of DeWitt, David (Theresa) Thelen of Westphalia, Terry (Julie) Thelen of Williamston; sister, Ruth (Joe) Heckman of Westphalia, Judy (Mike) Baker of Grand Ledge.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 11, 2009, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 515 E. Knight St. Eaton Rapids, with Father Denis Spitzley officiating and Father Bennett Constantine concelebrating. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.

Eva P. Kibiloski

Eva P. Kibiloski, age 84, life resident of Eaton Rapids died Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Eaton Community Hospice in Charlotte. Born March 23, 1925 in Eaton Rapids the daughter of Robert and Sylvia (Owen) Higgins. Eva was an Eaton Rapids High School graduate, class of 1943 and had attended Olivet College. She married Clifford Kibiloski on November 28, 1946. Eva worked as a clerk for the Nicolas Electric Co. in Eaton Rapids for over 20 years. A member of the St. Peter Catholic Church, a founding member of St. Vincent DePaul Society in Eaton Rapids, the Altar Society and former member and volunteer for Hearts & Hands. Preceding her in death was her husband, Cliff in 1992; granddaughter, Hannah Marie Kibiloski; and 2 brothers, Robert “Mac” and Samuel Higgins.

She is survived by her 4 children, Suzanne (Michael) Bradford of Eaton Rapids, Karen (Richard) Heath of Hastings, Steven (Sara) Kibiloski of Eaton Rapids and Clifford Patrick (Shelley) Kibiloski of Eaton Rapids; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Sylvia (Maynard) McKessy of Eaton Rapids and Bonnie Holwig of Inverness, FL; 2 sisters-in-law, Agnes Arner of Jackson and Harriett Higgins of Grand Rapids and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Peter Catholic Church in Eaton Rapids with Rev. Fr. Ben Constantine, celebrant. Burial will follow in the Brickyard Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. Richard Kilburn

Richard “Dick” Lyle Kilburn, 82, of Eaton Rapids, passed away in East Lansing, May 8, 2009. Richard was born in Aurelius Township, Jan. 23, 1927 to Paul and Carrie Kilburn.

He graduated from Leslie High School in 1945. Richard served in the United states Navy from 1945-1946 on two Land Infantry ships, LCI -956, and PCS-1451. He was a retired employee of Lindell Drop Forge in Lansing. Richard’s hobbies included wood working, gardening, attending auctions and flea markets, playing cards, fishing and collecting Renton Art Glass.

He is survived by his loving wife Dorine (Hawkins) (Hanes) Kilburn; daughters, Colleen Ott of Eaton Rapids and her daughter, Kathryn Gradowski of Lansing, Lois (Paul Daniel) Franklin of Jackson, Sue Young of Holt; sons, Gordon (Caren) Kilburn of Hixon, Tennessee, and Kenneth (Mari) Hanes of Billings, Montana, Bruce Hanes of Lansing; 14 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; siblings, Robert Kilburn, Ann Shotwell, Sidney (Carol) Hawkins of Mason, Dave (Pam) Hawkins of Mason, Doris (Alfred) Williams of Charlotte, Paula (Charlie Hodge) Royston, Audrey Hartenburg both of Eaton Rapids, Mary (Kenneth) Ellison of Mason, Gwen Hawkins of Holt, Joyce (Robert) Hill of Leslie; several nieces and nephews.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Grace Sutton; sister, Dorothy Beardslee; and first wife, Marnette (Bigg) Kilburn.

Funeral services were May 13, 2009 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. Interment followed at Munger Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to either Hayes Green Beach Visiting Nurses or the Aton Rapids Twp. Fire Department.

John Kingsbury

John Ellet Kingsbury, 76, of Dimondale, our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather was called home to the Lord on Feb. 22, 2009. He was born August 2, 1932 in Reed City, Mich., the son of Joseph B. and Ruth C. Kingsbury. John loved his lifelong pursuit of living life. He was an avid gardener, and loved flying. He enjoyed the coffee club at A & W in Mason, and at Mike’s Village Restaurant in Dimondale. John worked as lineman for the Lansing Board of Water & Light, and later retired from M.S.U. Physical Plant as an electrician. John started his own business, with his son, Mike, Ellet Enterprises.

He was preceded in death by sister, Barbara Johnson (Wince).

Surviving are his wife, Beverly Kingsbury; daughter, Deborah (Richard) Albert; two sons, Michael (Lorrinda), and Patrick (Noreen) Kingsbury; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Jane Polsey; brother, Robert Kingsbury; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 26, at Grace Bible Church in Lansing, with Deacon Dale Billingsley officiating. Interment was in Dimondale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to South Church or New Covenant Christina School, 4415 W. St. Joe, Lansing, MI 48917.

Amanda Kirby

Amanda S. (Lietzke) Kirby, 51, of Nashville, died unexpectedly on Monday, Dec. 21, 2009. Amanda was born Dec. 22, 1958 in Lansing, the daughter of LaVern L. and Sandra (Revenaugh) Lietzke.

She was a graduate of Potterville High School, was a member of Owners/Operators of Independent Truckers Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. She loved her horse “Miss B” and her dogs. Among the many things she enjoyed were gardening, canning and fishing.

She was preceded in death by her father, LaVern Lietzke on April 2, 2009; sister, Joan Diane Waite on Nov. 24, 2007 and brother, John Eastman Lietzke on Sept. 25, 2007.

Surviving are her husband, James W. Kirby; daughter, Tennille (David) Courtot of Westfield, Ind.; son, Nicholas Brown of Nashville; step daughter, Christa M. Kirby of Nashville; seven grandchildren, Johnathon, Elijah, Solomon, Tirzah, Caleb and Judah Courtot and Kailey Brown; her mother, Sandra S. Cayan of Sebring, Fla.; and her sister, Judith L. McNair of Charlotte.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 28,2 009 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Shane M. Bryant officiating. Interment in the Kalamo Hillside Cemetery.
