Patricia A. DeMarcus, teacher and child care specialist

Patricia A. DeMarcus, longtime teacher and child care innovator, died at 7:02 p.m. Thursday at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was 60.

Mrs. DeMarcus developed the community pre-school program at Campbell County High School as part of her teaching of parenthood education to high school students. She was a longtime home economics teacher at the school.

Mrs. DeMarcus was born in Eastern Kentucky and returned there after college to teach in a one-room school house in the mountain com munity of Wheelrim.cq

She married John P. DeMarcus and moved with him to Paris and later Frankfort, where she taught. He helped found Northern Kentucky University and was vice president of the school.

Mrs. DeMarcus was one of the new university's official hostesses in its early years, said her daughter, Jacqueline Renee Daher of Edgewood. She was president of the Northern Kentucky University Women's Society in 1976-77.

After her divorce in the 1980s, Mrs. DeMarcus continued teaching in Campbell County. She was a member of the Kentucky Education Association and the National Education Association, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

"She loved children and devoted her life to children, " said her daughter.

Mrs. DeMarcus taught her own grandchildren to read and had an easy rapport with children.

Illness forced her to retire from teaching eight years ago. She moved from Campbell County to Lakeside Park to be near her grandchildren.

In 1997 she had a lung transplant and it gave her renewed vigor.

"I believe the two years after the lung transplant were among her happiest, " her daughter said.

When her grandchildren had violin recitals or soccer games, she was in the audience. She would read to the kids and play pre-school with them. "Family was so important to her. She truly loved and valued children, " her daughter said.

Other survivors include a son, John Preston DeMarcus Jr. of Villa Hills; her mother, Rhuie Patrick Clarke of Salyersville; brothers, John Clarke of Indiana and William Clarke and Charles Clarke, both of Cincinnati; sisters, Ruth Gardner of Salyersville and Mary Clark0k, (she married a clark with no e) of Paris; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Mary V. Ady, 89, of Burlington, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

She was a homemaker and a member of Burlington Baptist Church, VFW, Erlanger, and the American Legion and the VFW. A daughter, Vivian Benedict, and a son, Joseph Schatz, both preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son, Kenneth Schatz of Burlington; daughters, Nancy Sue Schatz of Burlington and Carol Lee Wagner of Florissant, Mo.; a friend, Harry A. Tunning of Burlington; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Nellie W. Baumgartner, 85, of Taylor Mill, died Wednesday at 1:17 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Bapist Church, Latonia.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur Baumgartner of Taylor Mill; a son, Garry L. Baumgartner of Florence; a daughter, Theresa Carol Schoch of Denver, Pa.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn cemetery Mausoleum, Erlanger.

Memorials are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church, West Southern Avenue and Tibbatts, Latonia, Ky. 41015.

Thomas J. Beerman, 62, of Petersburg, died Friday at his home.

He was a retired lithographer for Pammar Lithographing Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hebron, and the Knights of Columbus, Hebron.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Magevney Beerman of Petersburg; a son, Jerry Beerman of Petersburg; daughters, Mary Pat Mueller and Nancy Compton, both of West Chester, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hebron. Burial will be in Irondale, Ala. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075; or Eternal Word Television Network, 5817 Old Leeds Rd., Irondale, Ala. 35210.

Robert T. Brady Sr., 76, of Erlanger, died Thursday at his home.

He was a retired driver for Consolidated Freightways and the former Dance Freightline, and a World War II Army Air Force veteran. He re ceived the EAME Theatre Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal and Victory World War II Medal.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Anneken Brady of Erlanger; sons, Bobby Brady Jr. and Jim Brady, both of Florence; daughters, Kathy Willis of Taylor Mill and Dottie Baker of Burlington; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

June Marie Jones Griffin, 68, of Warsaw, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

Arrangements are pending at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence.

Cloyce W. Hardy, 95, of New port and formerly of Covington, died at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport.

He was a retired office manager for ADT. His wife, Evelyn Hardy, died in 1987.

Survivors include his son, Glenn Hardy of Fort Thomas; a daughter, Cloyce Evelyn Martens of Dunedin, Fla.; a sister, Ilo Hufman of Birmingham, Ala.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Glennville Cemetery, Glennville, Ga.

Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington, is handling the arrangements.

Thelma Louise Humphrey, 66, of Highland Heights and formerly of Covington, died at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughters, Melinda Humphrey of Mississippi and Emma Stephenson and Louise Dennis, both of Price Hill, Ohio; mother, Elizabeth Meyers of Brooksville; brothers, Bill Meyers of Winchester and Chester Meyers of Covington; sisters, Hazel Meyers of Brooksville and Marlene St. Clair Covington; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Monday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Johnsville Cemetery, Bracken County.

Lena Kinman, 71, of Covington, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Kinman of Warsaw; daughters, Jeannie Hamilton of Covington and Debbie Walls of Worthville; a son, Robert Earl Davis of Indianapolis, Ind.; sisters, Mary Deitsch of Union and Carol Harmon and Barbara Ann Harrell, both of Florence; a brother, Jerry Lee Robinson of Union; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery. St. Elizabeth Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.

Willis Rider McDine, 65, of Independence, died at 11:07 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

She was a retired accounting clerk for Cincinnati Bell Telephone Co. and a member of Kingdom's Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses East, Taylor Mill, and Bell Telephone Pioneer Club. Her first husband, Albert Rider, died in 1981, and her second husband, Herbert McDine, died in 1991.

Survivors include her sons, Alan Rider of Covington, Tim Rider of Burlington and Scott Rider of Florence; brothers, Donald McDavid of the Philippines, Millard McDavid of Tallahassee, Fla., Paul McDavid of Cleveland, Ohio, James McDavid of Biloxi, Miss., and Carl McDavid of Dayton, Ohio; sistes, Connie Latta of Washington, D.C., and Lorretta Wright of Columbus, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Julia Irene McKibben, 82, of Lawrenceburg, Ind., died Thursday at Frankfort Medical Center, Frankfort.

She was a dentist's assistant and a member of Powersville Christian Church, Brooksville. Her husband, Herbert McKibben, died in 1994.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Williamson of Lawrenceburg; a sister, Mary Louise Rumford Mains of Alexandria; and brother Wendell Rumford of Alexandria.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Powersville Cemetery, Brooksville.

Oran McKinney, 79, of Glencoe, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

He was a retired type-setter for the Cincinnati Enquirer, a member of Glencoe Baptist Church and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Maureen McKinney of Glencoe; a daughter, Marie Stone of Glencoe; a brother, Jack McKinney of Booneville, Ind.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Lynnville, Ind.

Vernon L. Moore, 71, of Covington, died at 6:45 a.m. Friday at his home.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy Moore of Covington; a son, Allen Casson of Indiana; daughters, Peggy L. Seng of Florence and Connie Moore of Covington; a sister, Loretta Buchanan of Hamilton, Ohio; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the family's residence. Cremation will be in Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. There will be no services.

Catche Funeral Home, Covington, is handling the arrangements.

Pauline Myers, 77, of Florence, died at 6:30 a.m. Friday at Village Care Center, Erlanger.

She was a homemaker and a member of Harbor Christian Fellowship, Lebanon, Ohio. Her husband, Walter B. Myers, died in 1983.

Survivors include her sisters, Maurine Gevedon of Erlanger and Betty Hibbard of Florence; and a brother, Drexil Stacy of Fairfield, Ohio.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Perry Pinkelton, 36, of Elsmere, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

Survivors include his sons, Joshious Pinkelton and Dorius Comer, both of Elsmere; mother, Vivien Pinkelton of Cincinnati; a sister, Yolanda Pinkelton of San Antonio, Texas; and brothers, Andre Pinkelton and Guy Pinkelton, both of Oregon.

Services will be at noon Monday at Baptist Church of Elsmere. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Jones and Simpson Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in Mary Smith Cemetery, Elsmere.

Marlene Carroll Smith Riddell, 61, of Independence, died Wednesday at her home.

She was a retired office manager for Fifth/Third Bank.

Survivors include her companion, Elaine Sekula of Independence; a daughter, Denise Rump of Hebron; a son, Donald Ray Schroeder of Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho; father, Clarence Smith of Salinas, Calif.; mother, Margaret Humphreys of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a retired owner of Gateway Motel, Covington, Yellow Cab and the Covington Truck Rental Co., a member of Ralph Fulton Post VFW, Elsmere, and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his daughter, Diane Viti of Cave Creek, Ariz.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:05 p.m. today at Mother of God Church, Covington. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services today at the funeral home. Cremation will be in Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati.

Pamela Siffel, 55, of Burlington, died Thursday at Florence Park Care Center, Florence.

She was a dispatcher with the Kenton County Police.

Survivors include her son, William Brown of Covington; stepdaughter, Yvonne Humphrey of Covington; brothers, Daniel Siffel Sr. of Burlington and Harry Siffel, Wilford Siffel and Charles Siffel, all of Covington; sisters, Wanda Webb, Pernell Siffel, Rose Siffel and JoAnn Maddox, all of Covington; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Jones and Simpson Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

William Joseph Wagner Jr., 88, of of Highland Heights and formerly of Falmouth, died at 10:22 a.m. Friday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights.

He was a retired truck driver and a member of Blanket Creek Baptist Church, Pendleton County.

His wife, Louise Wilson Perkins Wagner, died in 1995, and daughters, Elsie Faye Schwab and Ruby Carol Russell, both preceded him in death.

Survivors include his son, Joe Paul Wagner of Independence; sisters, Hazel Fay Chatham of Morris Hill, Ind., Mildred Florine Golden of Foster and Velma May Powell, Martha Allene Hendy and Thelma Ruth Mains, all of Falmouth; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Falmouth.

Irma T. Walton, 99, of Fort Wright, died Thursday at her home.

She was a homemaker and a member of Kingdom's Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses Covington West.

Survivors include her nephew, William Oster of Erlanger; and nieces, Barbara Brown of Fort Wright, Diane Sharp of Latonia and Charlene Porter of Independence.

Services will be at noon Monday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Cremation will be in Southwest Ohio Crematory, Miford, Ohio. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Dovie West, 81, of Covington, died at 9 a.m. Friday at her daughter's home in Petersburg.

She was a retired seamstress. A son, Charles T. West, died in 1999, and a daughter, Thelma J. Webb, died in October.

Survivors include her son, Ralph West of Covington; a daughter, Linda S. Stephenson of Petersburg; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of services Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery.

Mary E. Wordeman, 75, of Cincinnati, died Friday at Salem Woods Nursing Home, Cincinnati.

Survivors include a sister, Rita Steidle of Edgewood; and a brother, Vincent Wordeman of Covington.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pius X Church, Edgewood. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. There will be no visitation.
