Hobert L. Wells, 78, truck driver, veteran

Hobert L. Wells, 78, of Cold Spring, a 38-year veteran truck driver, died of cancer at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas.

Mr. Wells, who drove for Holland Motors of Cincinnati, was a member of the Teamsters Union.

During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in North Africa, Italy and France.

"He was lucky during the war, " said Mr. Wells' wife of 55 years, Vivian Belew Wells. "He served in many parts of the war, but never got a scratch."

After the war, Mr. Wells began his truck driving career, traveling throughout Kentucky, Ohio and neighboring states.

"He claimed he didn't enjoy driving a truck while he was doing it, but after he retired he said he wished he was back driving again, " said Mrs. Wells.

Mr. Wells enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

"He had a wonderful personality and everybody just loved him, " said Mrs. Wells. "He was especially fond of children."

Other survivors include sons Robert Wells of Cincinnati, Steve Wells of California and Billy Wells of Bellevue; daughters Barbara Chan and Shirley Kinney, both of Cincinnati; sisters Juanita Lilly of Dry Ridge and Sylvia O'Toole of West Chester, nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home in Latonia.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Floral Hills cemetery in Taylor Mill.

Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky. 41042; or St. Luke Hospice, 85 N. Grand Ave., Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Beulah W. Burch, 82, of Newport, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Coy Burch, died in 1994.

Survivors include daughters, Joan Rothe of Falmouth and Alma Boone of Jacksonville, Fla.; sons, Lanny Allen Burch of Hebron and Charles Burch of Falmouth; sisters, Rissie Hall and Emma Hall, both of Norwood, Ohio, and Bertha Taylor of Booneville; a brother, Thomas Seale of Booneville; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Entombment will be in St. Stephen Mausoleum, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to Meals on Wheels, 810 Barret Ave., Louisville, Ky. 40204. Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights, is handling arrangements.

Dorothy Cookendorfer, of Falmouth, died today at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. Arrangements are pending at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth.

Albert Emminger, 92, of Butler, died Sunday at River Valley Nursing Home, Butler. rrangements are pending at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.

David Ellis Fornash Sr., 60, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Covington, died Friday at his home. He was a retired corrections officer with the Kenton County Jail and a member of St. Patrick Church, Independence.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra; sons, Scott Fornash of Waco, Texas, David Fornash Jr. of Highland Heights, Anthony Fornash of Fort Thomas, Jamason Wick of Erlanger, Jeremy Wick and Jason Wick, both of Warsaw, and Joseph Wick of Newport; daughters, Sherry Ashcraft of Fort Thomas, Melissa Hemmingway of Walton and Samantha Hemmingway of Erlanger; brothers, Donald Fornash of Highland Heights and Wayne Fornash of Ohio; sisters, Sandra Clark and Ruthie Brennen, both of Highland Heights, Rosie Fern and Betty Brossart, both of Southgate, and Barbara Kelly of China, Ind.

No services are planned. Moss Feaster Funeral Home, Clearwater, is handling arrangements.

Lillian Granneman, 90, of Covington, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. Arrangements are pending at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.

William G. Gugel, 82, of Fort Thomas, died at 1 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was owner of Newport Cigarette Vending Co. and a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Fort Thomas. He was a past commander of Lawler-Hanlon VFW Post No. 5662 of Newport, and a member of American Legion Post No. 11 in Newport, and Siena Seniors.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Wolfzorn Gugel; daughters, Barbara Gugel of Fort Thomas and Marian Shurley of Melbourne; a son, Donald C. Gugel of Pompano Beach, Fla.; a sister, Alberta Smith of Alexandria; and three grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Catherine of Siena Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Entombment will be in St. Stephen Mausoleum, Fort Thomas.

Lisa Kelley Hunter, 37, of Dry Ridge, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Misty Dawn Shell of Alexandria; a son, Justin Ray Cole Shell of Alexandria; her mother, Diann Wright Kelly of Dry Ridge; a brother, Steven Kelly of Dry Ridge; a sister, Trina Clayton of Falmouth; and grandparents, Dave and Ella Wright of Dry Ridge.

Services will be at noon Tuesday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Memorials are suggested to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, in care of Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, P. O. Box 130, Williamstown, Ky. 41097.

Conrad Martin, 82, of Taylor Mill, died at 10:33 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospice, Covington. Swindler & Currin Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements, which are pending.

Jason Nichols, 24, of Alexandria, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a maintenance supervisor with Truckstops of America, Walton.

Survivors include a daughter, Paige Nichols of Independence; his father, Roger Heck of Hudson, Fla., his mother and stepfather, Lisa and Vernon Bowling of Verona; brothers, Ian Bowling of Verona, Jason Bowling and Nathan Bowling, both of Crescent Springs; sisters, Ashley Bowling and Renita Bowling, both of Verona; grandparents, Donnie and Betty Mayes of Alexandria; and his fiancee, Brandy Sturgeon of Alexandria.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will begin there at noon Wednesday. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Verona. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Margaret Offutt, 93, of Covington, died Saturday at Village Care Center, Erlanger. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a nephew, Thomas Moore of Demossville.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ann Church, West Covington. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cincinnati.

Charles "Jimmy" Oldendick, 71, of Highland Heights, died Friday at Lakeside Health Care Center, Highland Heights.

Survivors include a brother, Richard Oldendick of Grants Lick; nieces and a nephew.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Mary Louise Perraut, 81, of Cynthiana, died Saturday at Grand Haven Nursing Home, Cynthiana. She was a retired registered nurse and a member of St. Edward Church in Cynthiana, where she belonged to the Altar Society.

Survivors include brothers, George Bernard Perraut of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Albert Perraut of Harrison County.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Burial will be in St. Edward Cemetery, Cynthiana. Memorials are suggested to St. Edward Church or St. Edward Catholic School, 107 N. Walnut St., Cynthiana, Ky. 41031.

Bill Ragio, 75, of Florence, died Friday at his home. He was an electrician with John W. Galbraith & Co., a member of St. Paul Church in Florence and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Thomas Ragio; sons, John Nobel Ragio of Cynthiana and William L. Ragio Jr. of Newport; daughters, Joan Termini of Covington, Theresa Carmen of Latonia, Mary Wininger of Hebron and Veronica Terronova of Sun City, Calif.; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society NCICFUL, P. O. Box 102454, Atlanta, Ga. 30368.

Doris Mae Ritchie, 74, of Maysville, died at 5:53 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. She was an owner of Tresslor Comet Station in Maysville and a member of Maysville Church of Christ. Her husband, Chester Ritchie, died in 1981.

Survivors include a son, Steve Ritchie of Mays Lick; a sister, Helen Dayton Sims of Mount Olivet; a brother, Lanis Burns of Corinth; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Palmer Funeral Home, Mays Lick. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mays Lick Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Maysville Church of Christ, 721 E. Second St., Maysville, Ky. 41056.

Cecilia B. Mullikin Robertson, 63, of Newport, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Thomas Robertson, preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Ruth Sorrell, Jackie Feuerlein and Peggy Willoughby, all of Fort Thomas, Cathy Forbeck of Orlando, Fla., and Lisa Santilli of Lincoln, R.I.; a son, Thomas Robertson Jr.; sisters, Bernie Gross and Jean Farmer, both of Alexandria, Pat Hayes of Newport and Nancy Baker of Bellevue; a brother, Vance Mullikin; and 13 grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Kenneth L. "Ollie" Sandfoss, 54, of Alexandria, died at 2:35 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.

He was a retired engineer with AT&T;, Cincinnati, and a member of Telephone Pioneers Club of America, Newport Elks Lodge No. 273, Newport Catholic High School Alumni Association, Pendleton County Country Club and Bald Headed Association of America.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia "Silver" Sandfoss; his parents, Ambrose and Wanda Sandfoss of Alexandria; a sister, Vickie Griess of Bellevue; and a brother, Mark Sandfoss of Taylor Mill.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Phillip Church, Melbourne. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014; or St. Phillip Church Building Fund, 1404 Mary Ingles Highway, Melbourne, Ky. 41059.

Frieda C. Strasinger, 80, of Cincinnati, formerly of Cold Spring, died Saturday in Cincinnati. She was a former owner of Bohrer Florist, Cincinnati. Her husband, Ted Strasinger, and son, Don Strasinger, both preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Richard Strasinger, Ted Strasinger and Joe Strasinger; daughters, Kathy Strasinger and Mary Welage; a sister, Sister Coletta Goetz, O.S.F., and Teresa Dittelberger; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Guardian Angels Church, Cincinnati. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at T. P. White & Sons Funeral Home, Cincinnati. Burial will be in Guardian Angels Cemetery, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to Vista Care Hospice, 8135 Beechmont Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45255; or the charity of the donor's choice.

Doris J. Ward, 83, of Cold Spring, died Friday at her home. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Harry Ward, died in 1984.

Survivors include daughters, Carol Ogden of Grove City, Ohio, Nancy Gearhart of Cold Spring, Wanda Flick of Lancaster, Ohio, and Deborah Whitaker of Duvois, Pa.; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at the convenience of the family in Roanoke, Va. Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights, is handling arrangements.

Dolores Koester Wissman, 77, of Alexandria, died Saturday at her home. She was a retired shipping supervisor with Pogue's department stores. Her husband, Paul F. Wissman, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lou Baynum of Burlington; sons, Michael Wissman of California, Richard Wissman of Greendale, Ind., and Daniel Wissman of Southgate; a sister, Catherine Moellman; a brother, Pat Koster; and seven grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Church, Wilder. Visitation will be from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075; or St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
